A new PVC membrane mercury(II) ion electrode based on N,N-dimethylformamide-salicylacylhydrazone (DMFAS) as an ionophore is described, which shows excellent potentiometric response characteristics and displays a linear log[Hg(2+)] versus EMF response over a wide concentration range between 6.2 x 10(-7) and 8.0 x 10(-2) M with a Nerstian slope of 29.6 mV per decade and a detection limit of 5.0 x 10(-7) M. The response time for the electrode is less than 30 s and the electrode can be used for more than 2 months with less than a 2 mV observed divergence in a potentials. The proposed electrode exhibits very good selectivity for mercury(II) ions over many cations in a wide pH range (pH 1 - 4). The electrode was also applied to the determination of a mercury(II) ion in vegetables and in Azolla filiculoides.  相似文献

The potentiometric response properties and applications of a tetra-coordinate nickel(II) complex with relatively high selectivity toward nitrate ion are described. The nickel(II) complex of 5,7,12,14-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradeca-4,6,11,13-tetraene was used as a neutral carrier into plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane. The influence of several variables was investigated in order to optimize the potentiometric response and selectivity of the electrode. The resulting membrane electrode incorporating 31.0% PVC, 61.0% dioctyl phthalate (DOP) as plasticizer, 3% methyltrioctylammonium chloride (MTOAC) as a cationic additive and 5% carrier (all w/w) demonstrates a Nernstian response slope of −59.6 mV per decade over the concentration range of 5×10−6-1×10−1 M NO3. The electrode exhibits a fast response time (≤10 s), a detection limit of 2.5×10−6 M, and can be used over a wide pH range of 4-12. The electrode shows improved selectivity in comparison to most of the previously reported nitrate-selective electrodes. It was successfully applied to the determination of nitrate ion in natural water samples.  相似文献

A potassium ion-selective electrode based on a cobalt(II)-hexacyanoferrate(III) (CHCF) film-modified glassy carbon electrode is proposed. The electroactive film is introduced onto the glassy carbon electrode surface by electrodeposition of cobalt, which forms a thin CHCF film on subsequent anodic scanning in KClHCl solution (pH 5.0–5.5) containing K3Fe(CN)6. The thickness of the film on the electrode surface can be controlled by changing the electrodeposition time and the concentrations of cobalt(II) and Fe(CN)3?6 ions. The modified electrode exhibits a linear response in the concentration range 1 × 10?1 ?3 × 10?5 M potassium ion activity, with a near-Nernstian slope (48–54 mV per decade) at 25 ± 1°C. The detection limit is 1 × 10?5 M. The stability, response time and selectivity were investigated. The electrode exhibits good selectivity for potassium ion with the twelve cations investigated. The relative standard deviation is 1.5% (n=10). The effects of the thickness of the electroactive film and the pH of the solution on the electrode response were also investigated.  相似文献

A PVC-based membrane of 4-dimethylaminoazobenzene reveals a Nernstian potentiometric response (with slope of 19.5+/-0.6 mV/decade and a correlation coefficient of 0.999) for Cr(III) over a wide concentration range (1.66 x 10(-6)-1.0 x10(-2) mol dm(-3)). The potential of this electrode is independent of pH in the range of 3.0-5.5. It has a fast response time of about 10 s and was used for a period of 3 months with good reproducibility. The detection limits of this membrane electrode was 8 x 10(-7) M. the proposed electrode has been used as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of Cr(III) with EDTA. This sensor exhibits a very good selectivities for Cr(III) over a wide variety of metal ions.  相似文献

Unsymmetrical benzoN(4) nickel(II) macrocyclic complexes have been explored as an ionophore for preparing PVC-based membrane electrodes selective to SCN(-). The resulting electrode exhibited the best working concentration range (1.4x10(-7)-0.1 M) with a Nernstian slope of (-59.7+/-0.9 mV per decade) in the wide pH range of 3.5-10.5. The proposed electrode has a very fast response time (5 s) and high selectivity for thiocyanate over variety of anions. This sensor was successfully applied as an indicator electrode to potentiometric titration of thiocyanate ion with AgNO(3) and for direct determination of the amount of thiocyanate in urine and saliva samples in order to distinguish between smokers and nonsmokers.  相似文献

A new PVC-membrane electrode for Co2+ ions based on N,N′-di(thiazol-2-yl)formimidamide (TF) as membrane carrier has been developed. The electrode resulted in Nernstian response (29.5?±?0.4?mV decade?1) for Co2+ ion over a wide concentration range (2.5?×?10?7 ?1.0?×?10?1?M) with a detection limit of 6.1?×?10?8?M. The sensor has a response time of about 10?s, and can be used for at least 2 months without observing any deviation from the Nernstain response. The electrode revealed good selectivity towards cobalt(II) ion over a wide variety of alkali, alkaline earth, transition, and heavy metal ions and could be used in the pH range 2.0–7.0. The electrode was used for determination of Co2+ in real samples.  相似文献

A hydrogen ion-selective poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane electrode was developed using p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene-oxacrown-4 as ionophore. Apart from the ionophore, plasticisers and lipophilic anions were blended, in various proportions, with PVC in tetrahydrofurane and mixtures so prepared were poured onto glass surfaces to form the membrane. 2-Nitrophenylpentylether has proved to be the best alternative as plasticiser and the lipophilic anions tried have turned out to have an adverse effect on the pH response. The electrode of the optimum characteristics had a composition of 2% p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene-oxacrown-4, 68.3% o-NPPE and 29.7% PVC. The electrode showed an apparent Nernstian response in the pH range 2-11 with a slope of 54.2±0.4 mV pH−1 at 20±1 °C. It has a rapid potential-response to changes of pH, high ion selectivity towards lithium, sodium and potassium, and other characteristics comparable to those reported for the conventional pH glass membrane electrode. It appears to be a suitable potentiometric indicator electrode specifically for hydrofluoric acid solutions.  相似文献

A new ion-selective PVC membrane electrode based on salicylaldehyde thiosemicarbazone as an ionophore is developed successfully as sensor for mercury(II) ions. The electrode shows excellent potentiometric response characteristics and displays a linear log[Hg2+] versus EMF response over a wide concentration range of 1.778×10−6-1.0×10−1 M with Nernstian slope of 29 mV per decade with the detection limit of 1.0×10−6 M. The response time of the electrode is less than 30 s and the membrane electrode operates well in the pH range of 1.0-3.0. The lifetime of the sensor is about 2 months. The electrode shows better selectivity towards Hg2+ ions in comparison with the alkali, alkaline and some heavy metal ions; most of these metal ions do not show significant interference (KPotHg,M values of the order of 10−3-10−4). The present sensor showed comparable or even better performance vis-à-vis similar PVC based ion-selective electrodes reported in literature. The sensor was also applied as an indicator electrode for potentiometric titration of Hg2+ions with I and Cr2O72−.  相似文献

Beryllium(II) selective electrodes have been fabricated based on poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) matrix membranes containing newly synthesized neutral carrier dibenzo(perhydrotriazino)aza-14-crown-4 ethers as ionophore. Best performance was exhibited by the membrane having a composition ionophore (IIa):PVC:sodium tetraphenylborate (NaTPB):tributyl phosphate (TBP) in the ratio (w/w; mg) of 5:30:3:65. This membrane worked well over a wide concentration range 7.6 × 10−6 to 1.0 × 10−1 M of Be2+ with a Nernstian slope of 30.7 mV per decade of beryllium activity. The response time of the sensor is 15 s and the membrane can be used over a period of 4 months with good reproducibility. The proposed electrode works well in a wide pH range 3.0–9.0. It was successfully applied to the determination of beryllium in a mineral sample.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane based strontium(II) ion-selective electrode has been constructed using acetophenone semicarbazone as a neutral carrier. The sensor exhibits a Nerstian response for strontium(II) ion over a wide concentration range 1.0 × 10−2–1.0 × 10−7 M with the slope of 29.4 mV/per decade. The limit of detection was 2.7 × 10−8 M. It was relatively fast response time (<10 s for concentration ⩾1.0 × 10−3 and <15 s for concentration of ⩾1.0 × 10−6 M) and can be used for 8 months without any considerable divergence in potentials. The proposed sensor revealed relatively good selectivity and high sensitivity for strontium(II) over a mono, di, trivalent cation and can be used in a pH range of 2.5–10.5. It was also successfully used as an indicator electrode in potentiometer titration and in the analysis of concentration in various real samples.  相似文献

Potentiometric sensors for determining cobalt and nickel ions are described. They are based on the use of cobalt and nickel tris(1,10-phenanthroline)-TPB as electroactive compounds dispersed in plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) matrix. The sensors exhibit fast, near-Nernstian responses for cobalt and nickel-phenanthroline cations over the pH range 3–11 with a slope of 30.3 ± 0.3 mV/concentration decade. In the presence of excess 1,10-phenanthroline reagent, cobalt(II) and nickel(II) ions at concentration levels as low as 4 × 10–6 M are accurately determined. The results show an average metal ion recovery of 98.5% with a mean standard deviation of 0.5%. Cobalt in organometallic compounds and nickel in silicate rocks are determined by these sensors and results agreeing fairly well with atomic absorption spectrometry are obtained.  相似文献

A new polyvinylchloride membrane electrode was facilely prepared by using polyaminoanthraquinone (PAAQ) microparticles with an intrinsically electrical conductivity as a lead(II) ionophore. It is found that the electrode performance will significantly be improved with adding 1 wt% PAAQ microparticles and decreasing the membrane thickness. A 90 μm-thick membrane electrode consisting of PAAQ(salt):polyvinyl chloride:dioctylphthalate:sodium tetraphenylborate of 1:33:66:1 (wt) but without any traditional lead(II) ionophore achieved the optimal performance and exhibited a good Nernstian response for Pb(II) ions over a wide concentration range from 2.5 × 10−6 to 0.1 M with a slope of 28.9 mV/decade and a detection limit down to 776 nM. A reasonably short response time of 12 s was revealed together with a long lifetime over a period of around 4 months in a wide pH range between 2.8 and 5.2. A fixed interference method indicated that the electrode has an excellent selectivity for lead(II) ion over alkali, alkaline earth and other heavy metal ions. The proposed electrode has been also found to be a powerful indicator electrode for potentiometric titration of Pb(II) ions with EDTA. The electrode can be used to accurately monitor the Pb(II) pollution in environmental waters.  相似文献

A hydrogen ion-selective poly(vinyl chloride) membrane electrode was constructed using 5,11,17,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,26,27,28-tetracyanomethoxycalix[4]arene as a neutral carrier. The electrode showed an apparent Nernstian response in the 2-11.5 pH range with a slope of 54.0 +/- 0.2 mV/pH at 20 +/- degrees C. This electrode showed a rapid response of the emf to changes in the pH, high ion selectivity with respect to lithium, sodium and potassium, and characteristics similar to those reported for the conventional pH glass membrane electrode. It can be used as a potentiometric indicator electrode in hydrofluoric acid solutions. The effects of iodide, thiocyanate, perchlorate and bromide on the characteristics of the electrode were also considered.  相似文献

A highly selective membrane electrode based on nickel(II)-1,4,8,11,15,18,22,25-octabutoxyphthalocyanine (NOBP) is presented. The proposed electrode shows very good selectivity for thiocyanate ions over a wide variety of common inorganic and organic anions. The sensor displays a near Nernstian slope of −58.7 ± 0.6 mV per decade. The working concentration range of the electrode is 1.0 × 10−6 to −1.0 × 10−1 M with a detection limit of 5.7 × 10−7 M (33.06 ng/mL). The response time of the sensor in whole concentration ranges is very short (<10 s). The response of the sensor is independent on the pH range of 4.3-9.8. The best performance was obtained with a membrane composition of 30% PVC, 65% dibutyl phthalate, 3% NOBP and 2% hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide. It was successfully applied to direct determination of thiocyanate in biological samples, and as an indicator electrode for titration of thiocyanate ions with AgNO3 solution.  相似文献

A liquid ion-exchange electrode containing a complex of mercury(II) with N-(O,O-diisopropylthiophosphoryl)thiobenzamide in carbon tetrachloride is described. The electrode shows excellent sensitivity and good selectivity. The slope of the calibration graph is 29.0 mV/pHg2+ in the pHg2+ in the pHg2+ range 2–15.2 in mercury(II) ion buffers. The electrode can be used for determination of 5 × 10?5–10?2 M Hg(II) in the presence of 10?2 M Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Cd(II), Mn(II), Fe(III), Cr(III), Bi(III) or Al(III) ions and in the presence of 10?3 M Ag(I) ions. It can bealso used for end-point detection in titrations with EDTA of 10?3–10?4 M mercury(II) at pH 2.  相似文献

An electrode has been prepared, consisting of a PVC membrane containing Corning 477316 nitrate liquid ion-exchanger in the chlorate form, which responds to chlorate ions. It has a faster response (1-2 sec) and lower limit of detection (3 x 10(-5)M) than the nitrate electrode for chlorate determination. Selectivity coefficients for the electrode towards several other ions have been measured.  相似文献

A new Cr(VI)-selective electrode of PVC membrane based on triheptyl dodecyl ammonium iodide is described. The response of the electrode is Nernstian for Cr(VI) concentration down to 2X10-6M in 0.03-0.13N HF solution. Limit of detection is 5X10-7M. The plot of logarithms of selectivity coefficients vs. z/γ of various anions is essentially linear with a correlation coefficient of -- 0.88. Applications of the electrode in determination of total Cr in steels and copper alloys, and Cr(VI) in waste-water from chromium electroplating are reported.  相似文献

The response of the Orion 94-29 CuII ion-selective electrode (ISE) [employing a jalpaite membrane] in seawater has been related to levels of free CuII yielding results for the Derwent River and San Diego Bay that are 2 to 3 orders of magnitude higher than those for the Pacific Ocean. Response data for the electrode in acidified seawater at pH 2 are internally consistent with total CuII levels determined using differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS). It has been found that, even in acidified seawater, the organic ligands influence the response of the electrode, and this effect can be compensated successfully by either analyzing UV-photooxidized seawater and/or using a standard addition technique. The assigned ISE results for total CuII in acidified seawater fall within ± (0.1–0.5) pCu unit of values determined using GFAAS. Electrode drift in seawater can be minimized by using a polished electrode that has been conditioned in seawater for 24 h. The improved response rate of a conditioned ISE minimizes electrode soaking times and sample contamination through membrane corrosion.  相似文献

A new all plastic sensor for Co2+ ions based on 2-amino-5 (hydroxynaphtyloazo-1′)-1,3,4 thiadiazole (ATIDAN) as ionophore was prepared. The electrode exhibits a low detection limit of 1.5 × 10−6 mol L−1 and almost theoretical Nernstian slope in the activity range 4.0 × 10−6–1 × 10−1 mol L−1 of cobalt ions. The response time of the sensor is less than 10 s and it can be used over a period of 6 months without any measurable divergence in potential. The proposed sensor shows a fairly good selectivity for Co(II) over other metal ions. The electrode was successfully applied for determination of Co2+ in real samples and as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of Co2+ ions with EDTA.   相似文献
