The kinetics of oxidation of malic acid by peroxomonosulphate (PMS) in the presence of Cu(II) (2.50 × 10?4–5.00 × 10?3 M), Co(II) (2.00 × 10?6–1.00 × 10?5 M) and Ni(II) (5.00 × 10?4–6.00 × 10?3 M) were studied in the pH range 4.05–5.89. The oxidation of Ni(II) malate follows simple first-order kinetics with respect to both [PMS] and [Ni(II)], while the oxidations of Cu(II) malate and Co(II) malate show autocatalysis. There is an appreciable induction period in the Cu(II) malate oxidation, while Co(II) malate oxidation follows a simple curve. The initial oxidation product for all three systems was identified as malonic semialdehyde. Alcohol quenching studies suggest that, even in the Co(II) malate-PMS system, no radical intermediates such as $ {\text{SO}}_{4}^{ - .} $ or $ {\text{OH}}{}^{.} $ are detected. The malonic semialdehyde intermediate may react with M(II) malates to give a hemiacetal, which may be more reactive.  相似文献

The reaction of peroxomonosulfate (PMS) with glycolic acid (GLYCA), an alpha hydroxy acid, in the presence of Ni(II) ions and formaldehyde was studied in the pH range 4.05–5.89 and at 31°C and 38°C. When formaldehyde and Ni(II) ions concentrations are ~5.0 × 10?4 M to 10.0 × 10?4 M, the reaction is second order in PMS concentration. The rate is catalyzed by formaldehyde, and the observed rate equation is (?d[PMS])/dt = (k2[HCHO][Ni(II)][PMS]2)/{[H+](1+K2[GLYCA])}. The number of PMS decomposed for each mole of formaldehyde (turnover number) is 5–10, and the major reaction product is oxygen gas. The first step of the reaction mechanism is the formation of hemiacetal by the interaction of HCHO with the hydroxyl group of nickel glycolate. The peroxomonosulfate intermediate of the Ni‐hemiacetal reacts with another molecule of PMS in the rate‐limiting step to give the product. This reaction is similar to the thermal decomposition of PMS catalyzed by Ni(II) ions. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 41: 642–649, 2009  相似文献

The photochemical decomposition of peroxomonosulfate (PMS) in the presence and absence of 2-propanol at 25°C was found to obey an overall first-order rate – d[PMS]/dt = k?[PMS]. In the absence of 2-propanol, the quantum yield ≤ for the decomposition of PMS was found to depend upon the concentration of PMS at [PMS] > 2 × 10?M, and is independent of concentration at [PMS] > 2 × 10?2M. The quantum yield in the presence of 2-propanol was found to be 3.03 at [PMS] = 1 × 10?2M and 4.45 at higher concentrations of PMS. In the pH range of 2–9.0 the quantum yield was found to be independent of pH, and the overall rate constant k? was found to be 6.49 × 10?3 s?1 and 1.68 × 10?3 s?1, respectively, in the presence and absence of isopropanol. A suitable chain mechanism is proposed and explained.  相似文献

The pressure-jump method has been used to determine the rate constants for the formation and dissociation of nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes with cinchomeronate in aqueous solution at zero ionic strength. The forward and reverse rate constants obtained are kf = 2.27 × 106 M?1 s?1 and kr = 3.81 × 101 s?1 for the nickel(II) complex and kf = 1.23 × 107 M?1 s?1 and kr = 2.66 × 102 s?1 for the cobalt(II) complex at 25°C. The activation parameters of the reactions have also been obtained from the temperature variation study. The results indicate that the rate determining step of the reaction is a loss of a water molecule from the inner coordination sphere of the cation for the nickel(II) complex and the chelate ring closure for the cobalt(II) complex. The influence of the pyridine ring nitrogen atom of the cinchomeronate ligand on the complexation of cobalt(II) ion is also discussed.  相似文献

The kinetics of electron transfer from hexacyanoferrate(II) to tris(dimethylglyoximato)-nickelate(IV), Ni(dmg)32?, to produce Fe(CN)63? and Ni(dmgH)2, follows a pseudo-first-order disappearance in the Ni(IV). The pseudo-first-order rate constants kobs are linearly dependent on [Fe(CN)64?]0 in a fiftyfold range of 2 × 10?4?1 × 10?2M, and the average values of kobs/[Fe(CN)64?]0 range from 194M?1·s?1 at pH = 5.20 to 0.2M?1·s?1 at pH = 9.07 in aqueous medium at 35°C and μ = 0.57M. Results are interpreted in terms of a probable mechanism involving rate-determining outer sphere one-electron transfer steps from the reductant and one-protonated reductant species to the unprotonated and one-protonated Ni(IV) species present in solution. The more electrophilic one-protonated reductant species apparently reacts several orders of magnitude faster than the unprotonated one.  相似文献

Abstract

The kinetics and stability constants of l-tyrosine complexation with copper(II), cobalt(II) and nickel(II) have been studied in aqueous solution at 25° and ionic strength 0.1 M. The reactions are of the type M(HL)(3-n)+ n-1 + HL- ? M(HL)(2-n)+n(kn, forward rate constant; k-n, reverse rate constant); where M=Cu, Co or Ni, HL? refers to the anionic form of the ligand in which the hydroxyl group is protonated, and n=1 or 2. The stability constants (Kn=kn/k-n) of the mono and bis complexes of Cu2+, Co2+ and Ni2+ with l-tyrosine, determined by potentiometric pH titration are: Cu2+, log K1=7.90 ± 0.02, log K2=7.27 ± 0.03; Co2+, log K1=4.05 ± 0.02, log K2=3.78 ± 0.04; Ni2+, log K1=5.14 ± 0.02, log K2=4.41 ± 0.01. Kinetic measurements were made using the temperature-jump relaxation technique. The rate constants are: Cu2+, k1=(1.1 ± 0.1) × 109 M ?1 sec?1, k-1=(14 ± 3) sec?1, k2=(3.1 ± 0.6) × 108 M ?1 sec?1, k?2=(16 ± 4) sec?1; Co2+, k1=(1.3 ± 0.2) × 106 M ?1 sec?1, k-1=(1.1 ± 0.2) × 102 sec?1, k2=(1.5 ± 0.2) × 106 M ?1 sec?1, k-2=(2.5 ± 0.6) × 102 sec?1; Ni2+, k1=(1.4 ± 0.2) × 104 M ?1 sec?1, k-1=(0.10 ± 0.02) sec?1, k2=(2.4 ± 0.3) × 104 M ?1 sec?1, k-2=(0.94 ± 0.17) sec?1. It is concluded that l-tyrosine substitution reactions are normal. The presence of the phenyl hydroxyl group in l-tyrosine has no primary detectable influence on the forward rate constant, while its influence on the reverse rate constant is partially attributed to substituent effects on the basicity of the amine terminus.  相似文献

The complex [Fe(imox) (Nmim)2], where imox is a planar bis(iminooxime) macrocyclic ligand and Nmim=N-methyl imidazole, undergoes substitution reactions in the presence of 2,2′bipyridine (bipy), leading to a series of intermediate mixed complexes. The forward and reverse rate constants for the substitution of the Nmim ligand by water are k1 = 0.23 s?1 and k?1=62 M?1s?1, respectively. The binding of a bipy to the [Fe(imox) (Nmim) (H2O)]+ complex proceeds according to k2 = 4.7×10?2 M?1 s?1 and k?2 = 3.6 × 10?4 s?1, yielding [Fe(imox) (bipy) (Nmim)]+, which eliminates Nmim according to k3 = 1.6 × 10?4 s?1. Further substitution in the [Fe(imox) (bipy)]+ complex with bipy takes place very slowly leading to the [Fe(imox) (bipy)2]+ and [Fe(bipy)3]2+ complexes. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Absolute rate constants for the reaction of O(3P) atoms with n-butane (k2) and NO(M  Ar)(k3) have been determined over the temperature range 298–439 K using a flash photolysis-NO2 chemiluminescence technique. The Arrhenius expressions obtained were k2 = 2.5 × 10?11exp[-(4170 ± 300)/RT] cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k3 = 1.46 × 10?32 exp[940 ± 200)/ RT] cm6 molecule?2 s?1, with rate constants at room temperature of k2 = (2.2 ± 0.4) × 10?14 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 and k3 = (7.04 ± 0.70)×10?32 cm6 molecule?2 s?1. These rate constants are compared and discussed with literature values.  相似文献

The kinetics of complexation of Ni(II) by pterin was studied in aqueous solutions with a stopped‐flow apparatus under conditions of pseudo‐first order in the temperature range 5–45°C, pH between 4.0 and 6.5, and ionic strength 0.4 M. The equilibrium constants, stoichiometry, and pKa of the ligand and complex were also determined using a spectrophotometric technique. The results are consistent with the formation of a 1:1 complex between the metal ion and pterin. The first‐order experimental rate constant kapp is pH independent and shows the following dependence with the ion metal concentration at 25°C: kapp/s−1 = 3.8 × 10−3 + 1.6 × 10−4 × [Ni(II)]−1. A global activation energy of 57 ± 2 kJ/mol associated with the formation of a 1:1 chelate was measured. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 32: 231–237, 2000  相似文献

The temperature-jump method has been used to determine the nickel(II)- and cobalt(II)-arginine complexation kinetics. In the pH range studied, the neutral form of the ligand, HL, is the attacking, as well as the complexed, ligand species. The reactions reported on are of the type where n = 1, 2, 3 and M is Ni or Co. At 25° and ionic strength 0.1M the association rate constants are: for nickel(II) k1 = 2.3 × 103(±20%), k2 = 2.4 × 104(±20%), k3 = 3.5 × 104(±40%) M?1 sec?1; for cobalt(II) k1 = 1.5 × 105(±20%), k2 = 8.7 × 105(±20%), k3 = 2.0 × 105(±40%) M?1 sec?1. Arginine binds to metal ions less well than homologous chelating agents due to the electrostatic repulsion arising from the positively charged terminus of the zwitterion. Kinetically, the effect appears in the association rate constants with nickel reactions more strongly influenced than cobalt.  相似文献

A high‐resolution IR diode laser in conjunction with a Herriot multiple reflection flow‐cell has been used to directly determine the rate coefficients for simple alkanes with Cl atoms at room temperature (298 K). The following results were obtained: k(Cl + n‐butane) = (1.91 ± 0.10) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k(Cl + n‐pentane) = (2.46 ± 0.12) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k(Cl + iso‐pentane) = (1.94 ± 0.10) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k(Cl + neopentane) = (1.01 ± 0.05) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k(Cl + n‐hexane) = (3.44 ± 0.17) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 where the error limits are ±1σ. These values have been used in conjunction with our own previous measurements on Cl + ethane and literature values on Cl + propane and Cl + iso‐butane to generate a structure activity relationship (SAR) for Cl atom abstraction reactions based on direct measurements. The resulting best fit parameters are kp = (2.61 ± 0.12) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, ks = (8.40 ± 0.60) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, kt = (5.90 ± 0.30) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, with f( ? CH2? ) = f (? CH2? ) = f (?C?) = f = 0.85 ± 0.06. Tests were carried out to investigate the potential interference from production of excited state HCl(v = 1) in the Cl + alkane reactions. There is some evidence for HCl(v = 1) production in the reaction of Cl with shape n‐hexane. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 34: 86–94, 2002  相似文献

Mass spectrometric studies of the ions present in H2/O2/N2 flames with potassium and chlorine added have demonstrated that ionization can occur in the forward steps of K + Cl ? K+ + Cl? (II), KCl + M ? K+ + Cl? + M (IV), where M is any third body. Variations of [K+] with time in these systems have been measured and establish that the rate coefficients (in ml molecule?1 s?1) of the ion-producing steps are k2 = 5 × 10?10T?12 exp(?10 500/T) and k4 = 2.2 × 107T?3.5 × exp(?60 800/T). Coefficients for ion-ion recombination have been obtained from k2 and k4 using the equilibrium constants of (II) and (IV) and are k?2 = 1.7 × 10?9T?12 and k?4 = 1.1 × 10?17T?3, with each one in the ml molecule?1 s?1 system of units. Replacement of the N2 in one of these flames with sufficient Ar to maintain the temperature constant leaves the measured k2 and k?2 unchanged, but lowers the observed k4 and k?4. This confirms that ion-recombination in the backward step in (II) is a two-body process, whereas in (IV) it is termolecular.  相似文献

Rate constants khom and khet are reported for the homogeneous electron‐self‐exchange and the heterogeneous electrochemical electron‐transfer reactions, respectively, of the cyclooctatetraene/cyclooctatetraene? (COT/COT.?) redox couple. In acetonitrile, the values khom (298 K)=(5±3)×105 M ?1 s?1 and khet (295 K)=8×10?3 cm s?1 are found, whereas slightly faster rates are obtained in dimethylformamide, namely, khom (298 K)=(1.6±0.6)×106 M ?1 s?1 and khet (295 K)=2×10?2 cm s?1. The khom rates are obtained from electron spin resonance (ESR) line broadening whereas the khet rates are measured at a mercurized Pt electrode by using Nicolson’s method. The slowness of both electron‐transfer reactions is caused by the high inner‐sphere reorganization energy that results from the inevitable conformational change that takes place upon going from the tub‐like COT molecule to the planar COT.? anion. The rates are well‐understood in terms of Marcus theory, including an additional medium inner‐sphere mode which is responsible for the flattening of COT.  相似文献

The rate of oxygen exchange between trans-[Re(py)4O2]+ and solvent water in pypyH+ buffer solution follows simple first-order kinetics and both oxygens are equivalent. The half-life for isotopic oxygen exchange is about 12 h at a pH of 5.0, 25°C, and [py] = 0.10 M. The observed rate constant for exchange increases with acidity, in the pH range 4 to 6, decreases with [py], and is nearly independent of ionic strength. A small but significant increase of kobs occurs with increasing complex concentration. The rate of exchange follows the rate equation kobs/2 = k0 + k1/[py] with k0 = 1.4 × 10?5(2) s?1 and k1 = 4.7 × 10?7(1) M, s?1 at 25°C. The activation parameters for the reaction at pH = 7.15 (predominately the k0 term) are: ΔH* = +137.(1) kJ/M and ΔS* = +126.(1) J/MK. The pH effect and complex concentration effect are discussed in mechanistic terms. These results are compared to those found for [Re(en)2O2]+ and [Re(CN)4O2]3?.  相似文献

The rate constant for the reactions of atomic chlorine with 1,4‐dioxane (k1), cyclohexane (k2), cyclohexane‐d12(k3), and n‐octane (k4) has been determined at 240–340 K using the relative rate/discharge fast flow/mass spectrometer (RR/DF/MS) technique developed in our laboratory. Essentially, no temperature dependence for these reactions was observed over this temperature range, with an average of k1 = (1.91 ± 0.20) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k2 = (2.91 ± 0.31) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k3 = (2.73 ± 0.30) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, and k4 = (3.22 ± 0.36) × 10?10 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, respectively. The kinetic isotope effect of the reaction of cyclohexane with atomic chlorine has also been determined to be 1.14 by directly monitoring the decay of both cyclohexane and cyclohexane‐d12 in the presence of chlorine atoms, which is consistent with the literature value of 1.20. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The rate coefficients for the reaction OH + CH3CH2CH2OH → products (k1) and OH + CH3CH(OH)CH3 → products (k2) were measured by the pulsed‐laser photolysis–laser‐induced fluorescence technique between 237 and 376 K. Arrhenius expressions for k1 and k2 are as follows: k1 = (6.2 ± 0.8) × 10?12 exp[?(10 ± 30)/T] cm3 molecule?1 s?1, with k1(298 K) = (5.90 ± 0.56) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, and k2 = (3.2 ± 0.3) × 10?12 exp[(150 ± 20)/T] cm3 molecule?1 s?1, with k2(298) = (5.22 ± 0.46) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1. The quoted uncertainties are at the 95% confidence level and include estimated systematic errors. The results are compared with those from previous measurements and rate coefficient expressions for atmospheric modeling are recommended. The absorption cross sections for n‐propanol and iso‐propanol at 184.9 nm were measured to be (8.89 ± 0.44) × 10?19 and (1.90 ± 0.10) × 10?18 cm2 molecule?1, respectively. The atmospheric implications of the degradation of n‐propanol and iso‐propanol are discussed. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 42: 10–24, 2010  相似文献

The reduction of Fe(CN)5L2? (L = pyridine, isonicotinamide, 4,4′‐bipyridine) complexes by ascorbic acid has been subjected to a detailed kinetic study in the range of pH 1–7.5. The rate law of the reaction is interpreted as a rate determining reaction between Fe(III) complexes and the ascorbic acid in the form of H2A(k0), HA?(k1), and A2? (k2), depending on the pH of the solution, followed by a rapid scavenge of the ascorbic acid radicals by Fe(III) complex. With given Ka1 and Ka2, the rate constants are k0 = 1.8, 7.0, and 4.4 M?1 s?1; k1 = 2.4 × 103, 5.8 × 103, and 5.3 × 103 M?1 s?1; k2 = 6.5 × 108, 8.8 × 108, and 7.9 × 108 M?1 s?1 for L = py, isn, and bpy, respectively, at μ = 0.10 M HClO4/LiClO4, T = 25°C. The kinetic results are compatible with the Marcus prediction. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 37: 126–133, 2005  相似文献

The complexation of 1-methyl-2-hydroxymethyl-imidazole (L) with Cu(I) and Cu(II) has been studied in aqueous acetonitrile (AN). Cu(I) forms three complexes, Cu(AN)L+, CuL2+, and Cu(AN)H?1L, with stability constants logK(Cu(AN)+ + L ? Cu(AN)L+) = 4.60 ± 0.02, logβ2 = 11.31 ± 0.04, and logK(Cu(AN)H?1L+H+ ? Cu(AN)L+) = 10.43 ± 0.08 in 0.15M AN. The main species for Cu(II) are CuL2+, CuH?1L+, CuH?1L2+, and CuH?2L2. The autoxidation of CuL2+ was followed with an oxygen sensor and spectrophotometrically. Competition between the formation of superoxide in a one-electron reduction of O2 and a path leading to H2O2 via binuclear (CuL2)2O was inferred from the rate law with ka = (2.31 ± 0.12) · 104M ?2S ?1, kb = (1.0 ± 0.2) · 103M ?1, kc = (2.85 ± 0.07) · 102M ?2S ?1, kd = 3.89 ± 0.14M ?1S ?1, ke = 0.112 ± 0.004, kf = (2.06 ± 0.24) · 10?10M S ?1, kg = (1.35 ± 0.07) · 10?7 S ?1, and kh = (6.8 ± 1.4) · 10?7M ?1 S ?1.  相似文献

The electrochemical redox properties of a surface‐confined thin solid film of nanostructured cobalt(II) tetracarboxyphthalocyanine integrated with multiwalled carbon nanotube (nanoCoTCPc/MWCNT) have been investigated. This novel nanoCoTCPc/MWCNT material was characterized using SEM, TEM, zeta analysis and electrochemical methods. The nanoCoTCPc/MWCNT nanohybrid material exhibited an extra‐ordinarily high conductivity (15 mS cm?1), which is more than an order of magnitude greater than that of the MWCNT‐SO3H (527 µS cm?1) and three orders of a magnitude greater than the nanoCoTCPc (4.33 µS cm?1). The heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant decreases as follows: nanoCoTCPc/MWCNT (kapp≈19.73×10?3 cm s?1)>MWCNT‐SO3H (kapp≈11.63×10?3 cm s?1)>nanoCoTCPc (kapp≈1.09×10?3 cm s?1). The energy‐storage capability was typical of pseudocapacitive behaviour; at a current density of 10 µA cm?2, the pseudocapacitance decreases as nanoCoTCPc/MWCNT (3.71×10?4 F cm?2)>nanoCoTCPc (2.57×10?4 F cm?2)>MWCNT‐SO3H (2.28×10?4 F cm?2). The new nanoCoTCPc/MWCNT nanohybrid material promises to serve as a potential material for the fabrication of thin film electrocatalysts or energy‐storage devices.  相似文献
