The synthesis has been effected of octa-2E,6E-diene-1,8-diol diisovalerate — the sex pheromone of the Crimean click beetleAgriotes tauricus — by the carboxymethylenation of the readily available 6-methylhept-5-en-2-one, the allyl oxidation of a terminal methyl group, reduction of the ester fraction, and interaction of the diol so obtained with isovaleryl chloride. The gas-liquid chromatography of some natural coumarins and coumarin fractions from plants

Conclusions The possibility of using gas-liquid chromatography for the analysis of coumarin fractions from plants and for the identification of the substances has been shown. The relative retention times for 32 coumarin derivatives have been calculated. The coumarin composition of the roots and fruit ofPrangos hissarica have been studied for the first time. Extractive substances ofLarix dahurica

Summary The quantitative determination of quercetin and dihydroquercetin in the total flavonoids ofLatrix dahurica has been effected by the use of thin-layer chromatography on Kapron for separating the mixture with subsequent elution of the spots and colorimetry of the eluates obtained. The methanol-dimethylformamide (1:1) system was used as the eluate.
