On the extended Hilbert's inequality

In this paper, it is shown that the extended Hilbert's inequality for double series can be refined by the aid of the Euler-Maclaurin summation formula. The extreme cases and are discussed.

     

Analogues of Euler and Poisson summation formulae

Euler-Maclaurin and Poisson analogues of the summations ε _{a <n ≤b} χ(n)f(n), have been obtained in a unified manner, where (χ(n)) is a periodic complex sequence;d(n) is the divisor function andf(x) is a sufficiently smooth function on [a, b]. We also state a generalised Abel’s summation formula, generalised Euler’s summation formula and Euler’s summation formula in several variables.     

Weighted Uncertainty Principles in L

We determine sufficient conditions on positive weights W and V such that there exists continuous, strictly increasing functions Φ and Ψ on [0, ∞) such that Φ(0)=0=Ψ(0) and whenever f: R→R is a continuous integrable function. We also give an example that shows the optimality of our conditions.     

Easy proofs of Riemann's functional equation for and of Lipschitz summation

We present a new, simple proof, based upon Poisson summation, of the Lipschitz summation formula. A conceptually easy corollary is the functional relation for the Hurwitz zeta function. As a direct consequence we obtain a short, motivated proof of Riemann's functional equation for .

     

A new result for hypergeometric polynomials

In some recent investigations involving differential operators for generalized Laguerre polynomials, Herman Bavinck (1996) encountered and proved a certain summation formula for the classical Laguerre polynomials. The main object of this sequel to Bavinck's work is to prove a generalization of this summation formula for a class of hypergeometric polynomials. The demonstration, which is presented here in the general case, differs markedly from the earlier proof given for the known special case. The general summation formula is also applied to derive the corresponding result for the classical Jacobi polynomials.

     

On Shimura, Shintani and Eichler-Zagier correspondences

In this paper, we set up Shimura and Shintani correspondences between Jacobi forms and modular forms of integral weight for arbitrary level and character, and generalize the Eichler-Zagier isomorphism between Jacobi forms and modular forms of half-integral weight to higher levels. Using this together with the known results, we get a strong multiplicity 1 theorem in certain cases for both Jacobi cusp newforms and half-integral weight cusp newforms. As a consequence, we get, among other results, the explicit Waldspurger theorem.

     

A note on a lemma of Shimura

The subject of this paper is a quaternion algebra over a quadratic extension of a totally real algebraic number field. We generalize an important technical lemma of Shimura, on which a certain period of automorphic forms depends.

     

Note on the Bradley and Ramanujan summation

The hypergeometric series of Bradley and Ramanujan is evaluated by means of the binomial convolutions of Hagen and Rothe, which presents, alternatively, a short proof of the recent result of Bradley about Ramanujan's enigmatic claim.

     

Classification of torsion-free genus zero congruence groups

We study and classify all torsion-free genus zero congruence subgroups of the modular group.

     

A simple proof of Zagier duality for Hilbert modular forms

In this paper, we give a simple proof of an identity between the Fourier coefficients of the weakly holomorphic modular forms of weight 0 arising from Borcherds products of Hilbert modular forms and those of the weakly holomorphic modular forms of weight satisfying a certain property.

     

Cohomology of projective space seen by residual complex

A subcomplex of a residual complex on projective space is constructed for computing the cohomology modules of locally free sheaves. A constructive new proof of the Bott formula is given by explicitly exhibiting bases for the cohomology modules.

     

Maximum distance separable poset codes

We derive the Singleton bound for poset codes and define the MDS poset codes as linear codes which attain the Singleton bound. In this paper, we study the basic properties of MDS poset codes. First, we introduce the concept of I-perfect codes and describe the MDS poset codes in terms of I-perfect codes. Next, we study the weight distribution of an MDS poset code and show that the weight distribution of an MDS poset code is completely determined. Finally, we prove the duality theorem which states that a linear code C is an MDS -code if and only if is an MDS -code, where is the dual code of C and is the dual poset of

In this paper we shall prove that the process obtained by killing first and subordinating next is a subprocess of the process obtained by subordinating first and killing next.

     

Modularity of a certain Calabi-Yau threefold and combinatorial congruences

We prove a certain Calabi-Yau threefold is modular in the sense that the number of points on its reduction modulo p is expressed in terms of the pth coefficient of a weight 4 newform in S₄(Γ₀(6)). On the number of Fourier coefficients that determine a Hilbert modular form

We estimate the number of Fourier coefficients that determine a Hilbert modular cusp form of arbitrary weight and level. The method is spectral (Rayleigh quotient) and avoids the use of the maximum principle.
