A new method, based on the Kelvin transformation and the Fokas integral method, is employed for solving analytically a potential problem in a non‐convex unbounded domain of ?2, assuming the Neumann boundary condition. Taking advantage of the property of the Kelvin transformation to preserve harmonicity, we apply it to the present problem. In this way, the exterior potential problem is transformed to an equivalent one in the interior domain which is the Kelvin image of the original exterior one. An integral representation of the solution of the interior problem is obtained by employing the Kelvin inversion in ?2 for the Neumann data and the ‘Neumann to Dirichlet’ map for the Dirichlet data. Applying next the ‘reverse’ Kelvin transformation, we finally obtain an integral representation of the solution of the original exterior Neumann problem. We consider the non‐local singular boundary value problem (1) where qC0([0,1]) and f, hC0((0,∞)), limf(x)=?∞, limh(x)=∞. We present conditions guaranteeing the existence of a solution xC1([0,1]) ∩ C2((0,1]) which is positive on (0,1]. The proof of the existence result is based on regularization and sequential techniques and on a non‐linear alternative of Leray–Schauder type. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This article deals with a boundary value problem for Laplace equation with a non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition. This problem comes from petroleum engineering and is used to obtain an estimation of well productivity. The non‐linear and non‐local boundary condition is written on the well boundary. On the outer reservoir boundaries, we have both Dirichlet and Neumann conditions. In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to this problem. The existence is proved by Schauder theorem and the uniqueness is obtained under more restricted conditions, when the involved operator is a contraction. In this paper we relate the generator property of an operator A with (abstract) generalized Wentzell boundary conditions on a Banach space X and its associated (abstract) Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann operator N acting on a “boundary” space . Our approach is based on similarity transformations and perturbation arguments and allows to split A into an operator A00 with Dirichlet‐type boundary conditions on a space X0 of states having “zero trace” and the operator N. If A00 generates an analytic semigroup, we obtain under a weak Hille–Yosida type condition that A generates an analytic semigroup on X if and only if N does so on . Here we assume that the (abstract) “trace” operator is bounded that is typically satisfied if X is a space of continuous functions. Concrete applications are made to various second order differential operators.  相似文献

The quenching problem is examined for a one‐dimensional heat equation with a non‐linear boundary condition that is of either local or non‐local type. Sufficient conditions are derived that establish both quenching and non‐quenching behaviour. The growth rate of the solution near quenching is also given for a power‐law non‐linearity. The analysis is conducted in the context of a nonlinear Volterra integral equation that is equivalent to the initial–boundary value problem. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we combine the usual finite element method with a Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann (DtN) mapping, derived in terms of an infinite Fourier series, to study the solvability and Galerkin approximations of an exterior transmission problem arising in non‐linear incompressible 2d‐elasticity. We show that the variational formulation can be written in a Stokes‐type mixed form with a linear constraint and a non‐linear main operator. Then, we provide the uniqueness of solution for the continuous and discrete formulations, and derive a Cea‐type estimate for the associated error. In particular, our error analysis considers the practical case in which the DtN mapping is approximated by the corresponding finite Fourier series. Finally, a reliable a posteriori error estimate, well suited for adaptive computations, is also given. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper we develope a perturbation theory for second order parabolic operators in non‐divergence form. In particular we study the solvability of the Dirichlet problem in non cylindrical domains with Lp ‐data on the parabolic boundary (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

We consider an inverse problem to recover a space‐ and time‐dependent relaxation function of heat flux in a three‐dimensional body on the basis of the restriction of the Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann operator of the related equation of heat flow onto a set of Dirichlet data of the form of a product of a fixed time‐dependent coefficient and a free space‐dependent function. Uniqueness of the solution of this inverse problem is proved. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The main object under consideration in the paper is the second derivative operator on a finite interval with zero boundary conditions perturbed by a self‐adjoint integral operator with the degenerate kernel (non‐local potential). The inverse problem, i.e., the reconstruction of the perturbation from the spectral data, is solved by means of the step‐by‐step procedure based on the n‐interlacing property of the spectrum.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study the mixed Dirichlet‐Neumann boundary value problem for the semilinear Darcy‐Forchheimer‐Brinkman system in L p ‐based Besov spaces on a bounded Lipschitz domain in R 3 , with p in a neighborhood of 2. This system is obtained by adding the semilinear term | u | u to the linear Brinkman equation. First, we provide some results about equivalence between the Gagliardo and nontangential traces, as well as between the weak canonical conormal derivatives and the nontangential conormal derivatives. Various mapping and invertibility properties of some integral operators of potential theory for the linear Brinkman system, and well‐posedness results for the Dirichlet and Neumann problems in L p ‐based Besov spaces on bounded Lipschitz domains in R n (n ≥3) are also presented. Then, using integral potential operators, we show the well‐posedness in L 2‐based Sobolev spaces for the mixed problem of Dirichlet‐Neumann type for the linear Brinkman system on a bounded Lipschitz domain in R n (n ≥3). Further, by using some stability results of Fredholm and invertibility properties and exploring invertibility of the associated Neumann‐to‐Dirichlet operator, we extend the well‐posedness property to some L p ‐based Sobolev spaces. Next, we use the well‐posedness result in the linear case combined with a fixed point theorem to show the existence and uniqueness for a mixed boundary value problem of Dirichlet and Neumann type for the semilinear Darcy‐Forchheimer‐Brinkman system in L p ‐based Besov spaces, with p ∈(2?ε ,2+ε ) and some parameter ε >0.  相似文献

We consider a mathematical model for thermal analysis in a 3D N‐carrier system with Neumann boundary conditions, which extends the concept of the well‐known parabolic two‐step model for micro heat transfer. To solve numerically the complex system, we first reduce 3D equations in the model to a succession of 1D equations by using the local one‐dimensional (LOD) method. The obtained 1D equations are then solved using a fourth‐order compact finite difference scheme for the interior points and a second‐order combined compact finite difference scheme for the points next to the boundary, so that the Neumann boundary condition can be applied directly without discretizing. By using matrix analysis, the compact LOD scheme is shown to be unconditionally stable. The accuracy of the solution is tested using two numerical examples. Results show that the solutions obtained by the compact LOD finite difference scheme are more accurate than those obtained by a Crank‐Nicholson LOD scheme, and the convergence rate with respect to spatial variables is about 2.6. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Based on coupling in two steps and the regularization approximations of the underlying subordinators, we establish log‐Harnack inequalities for Markov semigroups generated by a class of non‐local Gruschin type operators. Some concrete examples are also presented.  相似文献

In this paper a number of explicit lower bounds are presented for the first Neumann eigenvalue on non‐convex manifolds. The main idea to derive these estimates is to make a conformal change of the metric such that the manifold is convex under the new metric, which enables one to apply known results obtained in the convex case. This method also works for more general functional inequalities. In particular, some explicit lower bounds are presented for the log‐Sobolev constant on non‐convex manifolds. The paper presents existence results for positive solutions of the differential equations x ″ + μh (x) = 0 and x ″ + μf (t, x) = 0 satisfying the Dirichlet boundary conditions. Here μ is a positive parameter and h and f are singular functions of non‐positone type. Examples are given to illustrate the main results. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. The paper is devoted to the investigation of a parabolic partial differential equation with non‐local and time‐dependent boundary conditions arising from ductal carcinoma in situ model. Approximation solution of the present problem is implemented by the Ritz–Galerkin method, which is a first attempt at tackling parabolic equation with such non‐classical boundary conditions. In the process of dealing with the difficulty caused by integral term in non‐local boundary condition, we use a trick of introducing the transition function G(x,t) to convert non‐local boundary to another non‐classical boundary, which can be handled with the Ritz–Galerkin method. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique in this paper. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this work, we investigate a boundary problem with non‐local conditions for mixed parabolic–hyperbolic‐type equation with three lines of type changing with Caputo fractional derivative in the parabolic part. We equivalently reduce considered problem to the system of second kind Volterra integral equations. In the parabolic part, we use solution of the first boundary problem with appropriate Green's function, and in hyperbolic parts, we use corresponding solutions of the Cauchy problem. We consider the initial boundary problem for a compressible non‐Newtonian fluid with density‐dependent viscosity. The local existence of strong solution is established that is based on some compatibility condition. Moreover, it is also proved that the solutions are to blow up, and the maximum norm of velocity gradients controls the possible break down of the strong solutions. In the present paper the unique solvability of two non‐local problems for the mixed parabolic‐hyperbolic type equation with complex spectral parameter is proved. Sectors for values of the spectral parameter where these problems have unique solutions are shown. Uniqueness of the solution is proved by the method of energy integral and existence is proved by the method of integral equations. In particular cases, eigenvalues and corresponding eigenfunctions of the studied problems are found. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献
