Recently, metal-coordinated orthogonal self-assembly has been used as a feasible and efficient method in the construction of polymeric materials, which can also provide supramolecular self-assembly complexes with different topologies. Herein, a cryptand with a rigid pyridyl group on the third arm derived from BMP32C10 was synthesized. Through coordination-driven self-assembly with a bidentate organoplatinum(II) acceptor or tetradentate Pd(BF4)2•4CH3CN, a di-cryptand complex and tetra-cryptand complex were prepared, respectively. Subsequently, through the addition of a di-paraquat guest, linear and cross-linked supramolecular polymers were constructed through orthogonal self-assembly, respectively. By comparing their proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and diffusion-ordered spectroscopy (DOSY) spectra, it was found that the degrees of polymerization were dependent not only on the concentrations of the monomers but also on the topologies of the supramolecular polymers.  相似文献

The design and synthesis of novel macrocyclic host molecules continues to attract attention because such species play important roles in supramolecular chemistry. However, the discovery of new classes of macrocycles presents a considerable challenge due to the need to embody by design effective molecular recognition features, as well as ideally the development of synthetic routes that permit further functionalization. In 2010, we reported a new class of macrocyclic hosts: a set of tetracationic imidazolium macrocycles, which we termed “Texas-sized” molecular boxes (TxSBs) in homage to Stoddart’s classic “blue box” (CBPQT4+). Compared with the rigid blue box, the first generation TxSB displayed considerably greater conformational flexibility and a relatively large central cavity, making it a good host for a variety of electron-rich guests. In this review, we provide a comprehensive summary of TxSB chemistry, detailing our recent progress in the area of anion-responsive supramolecular self-assembly and applications of the underlying chemistry to water purification, information storage, and controlled drug release. Our objective is to provide not only a review of the fundamental findings, but also to outline future research directions where TxSBs and their constructs may have a role to play.  相似文献

A hydrogen-bonded (H-bonded) amide macrocycle was found to serve as an effective component in the host–guest assembly for a supramolecular chirality transfer process. Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy studies showed that the near-planar macrocycle could produce a CD response when combined with three of the twelve L-α-amino acid esters (all cryptochiral molecules) tested as possible guests. The host–guest complexation between the macrocycle and cationic guests was explored using NMR, revealing the presence of a strong affinity involving the multi-point recognition of guests. This was further corroborated by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The present work proposes a new strategy for amplifying the CD signals of cryptochiral molecules by means of H-bonded macrocycle-based host–guest association, and is expected to be useful in designing supramolecular chiroptical sensing materials.  相似文献

The self‐assembled trimetallic species [L2Cu3]6+ contains a cavity that acts as a host to many different anions. By using X‐ray crystallography, ESI‐MS, and UV/Vis spectroscopy we show that these anions are encapsulated both in the solid state and aqueous systems. Upon encapsulation, the anions Br, I, CO32−, SiF62−, IO63−, VO43−, WO42−, CrO42−, SO42−, AsO43−, and PO43− are all precipitated from aqueous solution and can be removed by filtration. Furthermore, the cavity can be tuned to be selective to either phosphate or sulfate anions by variation of the pH. Phosphate anions can be removed from water, even in the presence of other common anions, reducing the concentration from 1000 to <0.1 ppm and recovering approximately 99 % of the phosphate anions.  相似文献

Two aggregation-induced emission (AIE) macrocycles (DMP[5]-TPE and PCP[5]-TPE) were prepared by embedding Tetraphenylethene (TPE) unit into the skeletons of Dimethoxypillar[5]arene (DMP[5]) and [15]Paracyclophane ([15]PCP) at meso position, respectively. In crystal, the PCP[5]-TPE showed a distorted cavity, and the incubation of hexane inside the DMP[5]-TPE cavity caused a distinct change in the molecular conformation compared to PCP[5]-TPE. There was no complexation between PCP[5]-TPE and 1,4-dicyanobutane (DCB). UV absorption experiments showed the distorted cavity of DMP[5]-TPE hindered association with DCB.  相似文献

Pseudo‐octahedral MII6L4 capsules result from the subcomponent self‐assembly of 2‐formylphenanthroline, threefold‐symmetric triamines, and octahedral metal ions. Whereas neutral tetrahedral guests and most of the anions investigated were observed to bind within the central cavity, tetraphenylborate anions bound on the outside, with one phenyl ring pointing into the cavity. This binding configuration is promoted by the complementary arrangement of the phenyl rings of the intercalated guest between the phenanthroline units of the host. The peripherally bound, rapidly exchanging tetraphenylborate anions were found to template an otherwise inaccessible capsular structure in a manner usually associated with slow‐exchanging, centrally bound agents. Once formed, this cage was able to bind guests in its central cavity.  相似文献

Nucleotides are constituents of nucleic acids and they have a variety of functions in cellular metabolism. Synthetic receptors and sensors are required to reveal the role of nucleotides in living organisms and mechanisms of signal transduction events. In recent years, a large number of nucleotide-selective synthetic receptors have been devised, which utilize different molecular designs and sensing mechanisms. This Minireview presents recent progress in the design of synthetic molecular receptors for selective recognition of nucleotides in aqueous solution. The binding properties of receptors and the origins of their selectivity for a particular nucleotide are discussed.  相似文献

Nitroxide free radicals have been used to study the inner space of one of Rebek’s water‐soluble capsules. EPR and 1H NMR spectroscopy, ESI‐MS, and DFT calculations showed a preference for the formation of 1:2 complexes. EPR titrations allowed us to determine binding constants (Ka) in the order of 107 M ?2. EPR spectral‐shape analysis provided information on the guest rotational dynamics within the capsule. The interplay between optimum hydrogen bonding upon capsule formation and steric strain for guest accommodation highlights some degree of flexibility for guest inclusion, particularly at the center of the capsule where the hydrogen bond seam can be barely distorted or slightly disturbed.  相似文献

The synthesis of a centrally functionalized, ribbon‐shaped [6]polynorbornane ligand L that self‐assembles with PdII cations into a {Pd2 L 4} coordination cage is reported. The shape‐persistent {Pd2 L 4} cage contains two axial cationic centers and an array of four equatorial H‐bond donors pointing directly towards the center of the cavity. This precisely defined supramolecular environment is complementary to the geometry of classic octahedral complexes [M(XY)6] with six diatomic ligands. Very strong binding of [Pt(CN)6]2? to the cage was observed, with the structure of the host–guest complex {[Pt(CN)6]@Pd2L4} supported by NMR spectroscopy, MS, and X‐ray data. The self‐assembled shell imprints its geometry on the encapsulated guest, and desymmetrization of the octahedral platinum species by the influence of the D4h‐symmetric second coordination sphere was evidenced by IR spectroscopy. [Fe(CN)6]3? and square‐planar [Pt(CN)4]2? were strongly bound. Smaller octahedral anions such as [SiF6]2?, neutral carbonyl complexes ([M(CO)6]; M=Cr, Mo, W) and the linear [Ag(CN)2]? anion were only weakly bound, showing that both size and charge match are key factors for high‐affinity binding.  相似文献

As a synthetic model for intra‐protein interactions that reinforce binding affinities between proteins and ligands, the energetic interplay of binding and folding was investigated using foldamer‐based receptors capable of adopting helical structures. The receptors were designed to have identical hydrogen‐bonding sites for anion binding but different aryl appendages that simply provide additional π‐stacking within the helical backbones without direct interactions with the bound anions. In particular, the presence of electron‐deficient aryl appendages led to dramatic enhancements in the association constant between the receptor and chloride or nitrate ions, by up to three orders of magnitude. Extended stacking within the receptor contributes to the stabilization of the entire folding structure of complexes, thereby enhancing binding affinities.  相似文献

The halogen bond is a supramolecular interaction between a Lewis‐acidic region of a covalently bound halogen and a Lewis base. It has been studied widely in silico and experimentally in the solid state; however, solution‐phase applications have attracted enormous interest in the last few years. This Minireview highlights selected recent developments in halogen bond interactions in solution, with a focus on the use of receptors based on halogen bonds in anion recognition and sensing, anion‐templated self‐assembly, as well as in organocatalysis.  相似文献

The electronic absorption, fluorescence, and excitation spectra of furo[3,4‐c]furanone ( 1 ) have been measured in different solvents at different concentrations. We observed a complex dependence of absorption and excitation spectra as a function of the concentration in CH2Cl2 and THF due to aggregate formation. Interestingly, the fluorescence spectra were not affected. Resolving the puzzle was made possible by the fact that 1 fits perfectly into the channels of zeolite L (ZL) microcrystals to form 1 –ZL guest–host composites. The geometry of the ZL channel system ensures a well‐defined orientation of the embedded dye molecules, thereby leading to a preferred orientation of their electronic transition dipole moment (ETDM) and thus to objects with pronounced optical anisotropy properties. This enabled us to understand that in solution the monomers that are present at low concentration form an aggregate in which the molecules sit on top of each other and arrange into a J‐type aggregate configuration at higher concentrations. The signature of the latter is observed in the 1 –ZL composites. This seems to be the first example in which the insertion of molecules into a nanochannel microcrystal has helped in understanding the weak intermolecular interactions that take place in solution.  相似文献

Molecular recognition of host/guest molecules represents the basis of many biological processes and phenomena. Enzymatic catalysis and inhibition, immunological response, reproduction of genetic information, biological regulatory functions, the effects of drugs, and ion transfer—all these processes include the stage of structure recognition during complexation. The goal of this review is to solicit and publish the latest advances in the design and sensing and binding abilities of porphyrin-based heterotopic receptors with well-defined geometries, the recognition ability of which is realized due to ionic, H-bridge, charge transfer, hydrophobic, and hydrophilic interactions. The dissection of the considered low-energy processes at the molecular scale expands our capabilities in the development of effective systems for controlled recognition, selective delivery, and prolonged release of substrates of different natures (including drugs) to their sites of functioning.  相似文献

We report the template‐directed synthesis of BlueCage6+, a macrobicyclic cyclophane composed of six pyridinium rings fused with two central triazines and bridged by three paraxylylene units. These moieties endow the cage with a remarkably electron‐poor cavity, which makes it a powerful receptor for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Upon forming a 1:1 complex with pyrene in acetonitrile, however, BlueCage?6 PF6 exhibits a lower association constant Ka than its progenitor ExCage?6 PF6. A close inspection reveals that the six PF6? counterions of BlueCage6+ occupy the cavity in a fleeting manner as a consequence of anion–π interactions and, as a result, compete with the PAH guests. This conclusion is supported by a one order of magnitude increase in the Ka value for pyrene in BlueCage6+ when the PF6? counterions are replaced by much bulkier anions. The presence of anion–π interactions is supported by X‐ray crystallography, and confirms the presence of a PF6? counterion inside its cavity.  相似文献

New tripodal squaramide‐based hosts have been synthesised and structurally characterised by spectroscopic methods. In 2.5 % (v/v) [D6]DMSO in CDCl3, compound 4 formed dimeric assemblies [log Kdim=3.68(8)] as demonstrated by 1H NMR spectroscopy and UV dilution experiments. AFM and SEM analyses revealed the formation of a network of bundled fibres, which indicates a preferential mechanism for aggregation. These C3‐symmetric tripodal hosts exhibited two different and mutually exclusive modes of binding, each one easily accessible by simultaneous reorientation of the squaramide groups. In the first, a convergent disposition of the NH squaramide protons allowed the formation of an array of N? H???X? hydrogen bonds with anions. In the second mode, reorientation of carbonyl squaramide groups allowed multiple C?O???H interactions with ammonium cations. The titration of 4 with different tetraalkylammonium iodides persistently showed the formation of 1:1 complexes, as well as 1:2 and 1:3 complexes. The corresponding stoichiometries and binding affinities of the complexes were evaluated by multi‐regression analysis. The formation of high‐order complexes, supported by ROESY, NOESY and mass spectrometry experiments, has been attributed to the insertion of NR4I ion pairs between the carbonyl and NH protons of the squaramide groups located in adjacent arms of 4 . The observed effects reflect the induction of significant conformational changes in the hosts, mainly in relation to the relative orientation of the squaramide groups adapting their geometries to incoming ion‐pair complementary substrates. The results presented herein identify and fully describe two different modes of ion‐pair recognition aimed at directing conformational transitions in the host, therefore establishing a base for controlling more elaborate movements of molecular devices through ion‐pair recognition.  相似文献

Over the past few years, conjugated polymers (CPs) have aroused much attention owing to their rigid conjugated structures, which can perform well in light harvesting and energy transfer and offer great potential in materials chemistry. In this article, we fabricate a new luminescent linear CP p(P[5](OTf)2-co-9,10-dea) via the Sonogashira coupling of 9,10-diethynylanthracene and trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride (OTf) modified pillar[5]arene, generating enhanced yellow-green fluorescence emission at around 552 nm. The reaction condition was screened to get a deeper understanding of this polymerization approach, resulting in an excellent yield as high as 92% ultimately. Besides the optical properties, self-assembly behaviors of the CP in low/high concentrations were studied, where interesting adjustable morphologies from tube to sheet were observed. In addition, the fluorescence performance and structural architecture can be disturbed by the host–guest reorganization between the host CP and the guest adiponitrile, suggesting great potential of this CP material in the field of sensing and detection.  相似文献
