The perovskite material (La0.4Pr0.6)0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LPCMO) has complex electronic and magnetic behavior based on phase competition between ferromagnetic metallic (FMM) and insulating phases with similar free energies. Experimental evidence has indicated that in-plane stress anisotropy influences these phases and can affect electronic and magnetic properties. Here we investigate the roles that both stress and shape anisotropies may play in controlling the coercive field of the material. LPCMO thin films of various thicknesses (20, 25, and 30 nm) were deposited on (110) NdGaO3 (NGO) substrates using pulsed laser deposition and the coercive fields were measured. Photolithography was then used to fabricate microstructured arrays of LPCMO on the NGO substrates for each of the films. The coercive fields of these arrays of LPCMO were compared to the behavior of the corresponding unpatterned LPCMO thin films across a range of temperatures. Microstructure arrays for the thicker (25 and 30 nm) films showed a substantial increase in the coercive field after forming the arrays, whereas a thinner film (20 nm) showed almost no change in the coercive field. Stress anisotropy continues to play a dominant role in the behavior of LPCMO thin films and dimensionality of the magnetic domains also influences the results. The films show 2D behavior when film thickness approaches the size of the critical radius for single-to-multidomain transitions. Making thicker films allows for 3D behavior and a role for shape anisotropy to influence the coercive fields.  相似文献

We studied the structure and magnetic properties of porous multilayered Co/Pd films deposited on the templates of anodized Al2O3 with a specific surface morphology that is characterized by a cellular–porous structure with several pores inside each cell. X-ray diffraction analysis and reflectometry are used to study the peculiarities of the formation of phases in deposited films. The effect of morphological features of porous Co/Pd films on their magnetoanisotropic properties and magnetization reversal processes (magnetization reversal mechanisms, domain structure of films, and coercive field H c ) is revealed by SQUID magnetometry and magnetic force microscopy.  相似文献

Compressed Pr0.5Ca0.5MnO3 films (250 nm) deposited on LaAlO3 have been studied by Electron Spin Resonance technique under high frequency and high magnetic field. We show evidences for the presence of a ferromagnetic phase (FM) embedded in the charge-order phase (CO), in form of thin layers which size depends on the strength and orientation of the magnetic field (parallel or perpendicular to the substrate plane). This FM phase presents an easy plane magnetic anisotropy with an anisotropy constant 100 times bigger than typical bulk values. When the magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the substrate plane, the FM phase is strongly coupled to the CO phase whereas for the parallel orientation it keeps an independent ferromagnetic resonance even when the CO phase becomes antiferromagnetic.  相似文献

Array of dots have been designed by assembling a monolayer of polystyrene nanospheres (PN) on sputtered thin films having Ni80Fe20 and Co composition with different thickness, ranging in the interval 20 ÷ 80 nm. Subsequently the films are nanopatterned using the nanospheres as a mask during sputter etching with Ar+ ions. A Reactive Ion Etching (RIE) process before sputter etching is used to control the final diameter of the magnetic dots that thus can be tailored as desired (typically ranging in the interval 250 ÷ 400 nm depending on the PN starting diameter). In addition, electron beam lithography has been exploited to obtain arrays of dots in Ni80Fe20 thin films having approximately the same mean size and dot distance as in self-assembled samples. All films have been routinely characterized by SEM and AFM microscopy to evaluate the microstructure. Magnetic domain patterns at magnetic remanence and in the demagnetised state have been imaged by MFM microscopy technique. Room-temperature hysteresis properties have been measured by an alternating gradient force magnetometer. In general, the magnetization process in all patterned films has been observed to have features typical of a vortex whose nucleation field depends on sample thickness and mean dot dimension. A comparison between magnetic arrays of Ni80Fe20 dots prepared by self-assembling of polystyrene nanospheres and electron beam lithography is presented to rule out the role of microstructure (i.e., order, size, and mutual distance of the magnetic dots) on magnetic properties.  相似文献

In this paper we report structural, magnetic and transport properties of strongly textured Ni51Mn36Sn13 thin films. The off-stoichiometric Heusler alloy films with 200 nm thickness were sputter-deposited on a MgO(100) substrate at 500 K and after annealed at 1000 K in UHV conditions. The textured growth was confirmed by x-ray diffraction in Bragg-Brentano geometry. The temperature dependence of the magnetic properties was measured by VSM and FMR methods. The electron transport measurements were carried out in function of temperature in 0 Oe and 50 kOe fields. All measurements corroborate the existence of the martensitic transformation in the film. Furthermore, transport measurements reveal an influence of the magnetic field on the transition temperature.  相似文献

The field and temperature dependences of magnetization and the temperature dependences of the initial magnetic susceptibility have been theoretically studied for three crystallographic directions in a trigonal NdFe3(BO3)4 antiferromagnetic crystal. The calculations were performed using a molecular field approximation and a crystal field model for the rare-earth subsystem. The obtained theoretical expressions are applied to the interpretation of recent experimental data [1–4] on the magnetic properties of NdFe3(BO3)4. The results of calculations show a good agreement with experiment. The proposed theory adequately describes (i) anomalies of the Schottky type in the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility, (ii) nonlinear curves of magnetization in the basal plane in a magnetic field up to 1 T (showing evidence of the first-order phase transitions) and their evolution with the temperature, and (iii) the field and temperature dependences of magnetization in a magnetic field up to 9 T.  相似文献

Highly c-axis-oriented Sr3Bi4Ti6O21 (SBTi) thin films were fabricated on Pt-coated Si substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). The structures were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). No peaks of SrTiO3 (STO) could be detected in the XRD pattern, indicating the existence of the SBTi single phase. Good ferroelectric hysteresis loops of the films with Pt electrodes were obtained. With an applied field of 400 kV/cm, the measured remanent polarization (Pr) and coercive field (Ec) values were 4.1 C/cm2 and 75 kV/cm respectively. The films showed little fatigue after 2.22×109 switching cycles: the nonvolatile polarizations decreased by less than 5% of the initial values. The dielectric constant and the loss tangent of the films were measured to be 363 and 0.04 at 100 kHz. These results might be advantageous for nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memory (NVFRAM) and dynamic random access memory (DRAM). PACS 77.84.Dy; 77.22.-d; 68.55.Jk  相似文献

Layered cobalt oxides Ca3Co4O9 thin films have been grown directly on c-cut sapphire substrates using pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy characterizations show that the deposited films present the expected monoclinic structure and a texture along the direction perpendicular to the Al2O3(001) plane. The Ca3Co4O9 structure presents six variants in the film plane. Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy shows that the films are stoichiometric and that the film thickness agrees with the nominal value. The susceptibility χ of the films, recorded along the c-axis of the substrate, after field cooling and zero field cooling in an applied field of 1 kOe shows two magnetic transitions at 19 and 370 K which agree well with previous findings on single crystal samples. In turn, at low temperature (5 K), the magnetization curve along the c-axis exhibits coercive field and remanent magnetization much smaller than those reported for bulk samples, which can be related to the influence of structural variants and structural defects.  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties of the mesoporous systems based on silicon dioxide with a regular hexagonal arrangement of pores several microns in length and several nanometers in diameter, which are filled with iron compound nanofilaments in various chemical states, are studied in detail. The studies are performed using the following mutually complementary methods: transmission electron microscopy, SQUID magnetometry, electron spin resonance, Mössbauer spectroscopy, polarized neutron small-angle diffraction, and synchrotron radiation diffraction. It is shown that the iron nanoparticles in pores are mainly in the γ phase of Fe2O3 with a small addition of the α phase and atomic iron clusters. The effective magnetic field acting on a nanofilament from other nanofilaments is 11 mT and has a dipole nature, the ferromagnetic–paramagnetic transition temperature is in the range 76–94 K depending on the annealing temperature of the samples, and the temperature that corresponds to the change in the magnetic state of the iron oxide nanofilaments is T ≈ 50–60 K at H = 0 and T ≈ 80 K at H = 300 mT. It is also shown that the magnetization reversal of an array of nanofilaments is caused by the magnetostatic interaction between nanofilaments at the fields that are lower than the saturation field.  相似文献

The antiferromagnetic resonance, heat capacity, magnetic properties, and magnetic phase diagram of a GdFe3(BO3)4 crystal in which some of the iron ions were substituted by diamagnetic gallium ions have been investigated. It has been found that the Neél temperature upon diamagnetic substitution decreased to 17 K compared to 38 K in the unsubstituted crystal. The effective exchange and anisotropy fields for GdFe2.1Ga0.9(BO3)4 have been estimated from the field dependences of magnetization and resonance measurements. The magnetic phase diagram of the crystal has been constructed from magnetic and resonance measurements. In GdFe2.1Ga0.9(BO3)4, there is no spontaneous reorientation and, in the absence of a magnetic field, the crystal remains an easy-axis one in the entire domain of magnetic ordering. The critical field of the reorientation transition to an induced easy-plane state in a magnetic field along the trigonal axis has been found to increase compared to that in the unsubstituted crystal.  相似文献

The tetragonal compound UNi2Si2 exhibits in zero magnetic field three different antiferromagnetic phases belowT N =124 K. They are formed by ferromagnetic basal planes, which are antiferromagnetically coupled along thec-axis with the propagation vectorq=(0, 0, q z ). Two additional order-order magnetic phase transitions are observed below T N , namely atT 1=108 K and T 2=40 K in zero magnetic field. All three phases exhibit strong uniaxial anisotropy confining the U moments to a direction parallel to the c-axis. UNi2Si2 single crystals were studied in detail by measuring bulk thermodynamic properties, such as thermal expansion, resistivity, susceptibility, and specific heat. A microscopic study using neutron diffraction was performed in magnetic fields up to 14.5 T parallel to the c-axis, and a complex magnetic phase diagram has been determined. Here, we present the analysis of specific-heat data measured in magnetic fields up to 14 T compared with the results of the neutron-diffraction study and with other thermodynamic properties of UNi2Si2.  相似文献

The current-voltage characteristics of the polycrystalline substituted lanthanum manganite (La0.5Eu0.5)0.7Pb0.3MnO3 have been measured at temperatures close to the metal-insulator transition temperature and at low temperatures. In both cases, the current-voltage characteristics exhibit nonlinear properties that are strongly dependent on the strength of an applied magnetic field. The mechanisms responsible for the nonlinear properties at these temperatures are found to be different: near the metal-insulator transition, the current-voltage characteristics are determined by the phase layering inside granules, while at low temperatures, they are determined by tunneling of carriers through insulating interlayers of the granules.  相似文献

We analyze measurements of the magnetization, differential susceptibility and specific heat of quasi-onedimensional insulator Cu(C4H4N2)(NO3)2 (CuPzN) subjected to magnetic fields. We show that the thermodynamic properties are defined by quantum spin liquid formed with spinons, with the magnetic field tuning the insulator CuPzN towards quantum critical point related to fermion condensation quantum phase transition (FCQPT) at which the spinon effective mass diverges kinematically. We show that the FCQPT concept permits to reveal and explain the scaling behavior of thermodynamic characteristics. For the first time, we construct the schematic T–H (temperature-magnetic field) phase diagram of CuPzN that contains Landau–Fermi-liquid, crossover and non-Fermi liquid parts, thus resembling that of heavy-fermion compounds.  相似文献

Measurements of magnetic and transport properties were performed on needle-shaped single crystals of Ce12Fe57.5As41 and La12Fe57.5As41. The availability of a complete set of data enabled a side-by-side comparison between these two rare earth compounds. Both compounds exhibited multiple magnetic orders within 2–300 K and metamagnetic transitions at various fields. Ferromagnetic transitions with Curie temperatures of 100 and 125 K were found for Ce12Fe57.5As41 and La12Fe57.5As41, respectively, followed by antiferromagnetic type spin reorientations near Curie temperatures. The magnetic properties underwent complex evolution in the magnetic field for both compounds. An antiferromagnetic phase transition at about 60 K and 0.2 T was observed merely for Ce12Fe57.5As41. The field-induced magnetic phase transition occurred from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic structure. A strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy was evident from magnetization measurements of Ce12Fe57.5As41. A temperature-field phase diagram was present for these two rare earth systems. In addition, a logarithmic temperature dependence of electrical resistivity was observed in the two compounds within a large temperature range of 150–300 K, which is rarely found in 3D-based compounds. It may be related to Kondo scattering described by independent localized Fe 3d moments interacting with conduction electrons.  相似文献

The ultrafast laser-excited magnetization dynamics of ferromagnetic (FM) La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) thin films with BiFeO3 (BFO) coating layers grown by laser molecular beam epitaxy are investigated using the optical pump-probe technique. Uniform magnetization precessions are observed in the films under an applied external magnetic field by measuring the time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect. The magnetization precession frequencies of the LSMO thin films with the BFO coating layers are lower than those of uncoated LSMO films, which is attributed to the suppression of the anisotropy field induced by the exchange interaction at the interface between the antiferromagnetic order of BFO and the FM order of LSMO.  相似文献

The magnetic properties (magnetization curve, ferromagnetic resonance spectrum) of nanocrystalline Fe79Zr10N11 films obtained by RF magnetron sputtering with subsequent annealing were studied experimentally, along with the fundamental magnetic constants of these films (saturation magnetization M S, local magnetic anisotropy energy K, and the exchange coupling constant A). The magnetic properties are discussed within the random magnetic model, which determines the correlation of the magnetic properties with the fundamental magnetic constants and nanostructure parameters (grain size, magnetic anisotropy, and correlation radius R C). The exchange correlation length 2R L for the film magnetic microstructure was determined by correlation magnetometry.  相似文献

The crystal structure and hysteretic magnetic properties of equiatomic single-crystal CoPt films applied on MgO substrates by magnetron sputtering, as well as modification of these properties by thermal annealing, are studied. Heat-treated films of thickness in the range 2<d≤16 nm exhibit perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. A correlation between the crystalline anisotropy constant of the CoPt films and the order parameter of the LI0 superstructure in these alloys is found. The effect of a single-crystalline MgO substrate on the structure and magnetic properties of equiatomic CoPt films is revealed.  相似文献

The magnetic and magnetodielectric properties of Ho0.5Nd0.5Fe3(BO3)4 ferroborate with the competing Ho–Fe and Nd–Fe exchange couplings have been experimentally and theoretically investigated. Step anomalies in the magnetization curves at the spin-reorientation transition induced by the magnetic field Bc have been found. The spontaneous spin-reorientation transition temperature TSR ≈ 8 K has been refined. The measured magnetic properties and observed features are interpreted using a single theoretical approach based on the molecular field approximation and calculations within the crystal field model of the rare-earth ion. Interpretation of the experimental data includes determination of the crystal field parameters for Ho3+ and Nd3+ ions in Ho0.5Nd0.5Fe3(BO3)4 and parameters of the Ho–Fe and Nd–Fe exchange couplings.  相似文献

The temperature and field dependences of the specific magnetic moment of the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite have been measured. It is established, that the magnetic state of the sample studied is a cluster spin glass and it is the result of frustration of exchange Mn3+-O-Mn3+ interactions due to the redistribution of oxygen vacancies. The increase of the magnetic field leads to an increase in the degree of polarization of local spins of manganese. It is established using the magnetic criterion that a phase transition into the paramagnetic state for the anion-deficient La0.70Sr0.30MnO2.85 manganite is a thermodynamic second order phase transition. The causes and mechanism of the magnetic phase separation are discussed.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of (CH3NH3)2CuBr4 quasi-two-dimensional crystals were studied experimentally. The magnetic-field and temperature dependences of magnetization were measured for various magnetic field orientations relative to the crystallographic axes. Possible reasons for features in the behavior of the magnetization are discussed.  相似文献
