Summary This paper concerns a transient thermoelastic contact problem in a transversely isotropic infinite cylinder inserted into a heated rigid ring. It is assumed that the heat transfer coefficient at the bonded surface is different from the coefficient at the traction-free boundary surface. A finite difference formulation with respect only to time is used to solve the three-dimensional transient heat conduction equation for the temperature field. The thermal stress field is analyzed by means of the transversely isotropic potential function method. The radial, hoop and axial stresses have singularities at the end of the contact surface. The concentration factors that may be used to evaluate the strength of the stress singularities are introduced.

For simply-connected regions, some solutions are available for the second-order torsion problem of homogeneous isotropic compressible elastic cylinders based on the theory given by Green and others. In the present paper, these theories are extended to cover the second-order torsion problem for multiply-connected regions. As an example, results for torsion of a confocal elliptical ring are given.  相似文献

A theoretical method for analyzing the axisymmetric plane strain elastodynamic problem of a non-homogeneous orthotropic hollow cylinder is developed. Firstly, a new dependent variable is introduced to rewrite the governing equation, the boundary conditions and the initial conditions. Secondly, a special function is introduced to transform the inhomogeneous boundary conditions to homogeneous ones. By virtue of the orthogonal expansion technique, the equation with respect to the time variable is derived, of which the solution can be obtained. The displacement solution is finally obtained, which can be degenerated in a rather straightforward way into the solution for a homogeneous orthotropic hollow cylinder and isotropic solid cylinder as well as that for a non-homogeneous isotropic hollow cylinder. Using the present method, integral transform can be avoided and it can be used for hollow cylinders with arbitrary thickness and subjected to arbitrary dynamic loads. Numerical results are presented for a non-homogeneous orthotropic hollow cylinder subjected to dynamic internal pressure.  In this paper the radial deformation and the corresponding stresses in a non-homogeneous hollow elastic cylinder rotating about its axis with a constant angular velocity is investigated. The material of the cylinder is assumed to the non-homogeneous and cylindrically orthotropic. The system of fundamental equations is solved by means of a finite difference method and the numerical calculations are carried out for the temperature, the components of displacement and the components of stress with the time t and through the thickness of the cylinder. The results indicate that the effect of inhomogeneity is very pronounced. Received on 21 December 2000  相似文献

Some second-order solutions of the torsion problem for simply-connected regions are available based on the theory given by Green and others both for compressible and incompressible materials. Bhargava and Gupta [1] have recently extended the theory for torsion problem of multiply-connected regions. In the present paper these theories are extended further to account for the composite regions. The complex variable formulation is employed. As an illustration, results for the torsion problem of a composite cylinder of concentric circular cross-section are given.  相似文献

The method of asymptotic integration of equations of elasticity [1] is used to study the behavior of the solution of a 3D elasticity problem for a radially inhomogeneous transversally isotropic hollow cylinder of small thickness. Under the assumption that the load is sufficiently smooth, the asymptotic method [1] is used to construct inhomogeneous solutions. An algorithm for constructing exact particular solutions of the equilibrium equations is given for loads of specific types in the case where the cylinder lateral surface is loaded by forces polynomially depending on the axial coordinate. Then the homogeneous solutions are constructed. The asymptotic expansions of homogeneous solutions are obtained, and the above analysis is used to explain the character of the stress-strain state.  相似文献

Zero group velocity(ZGV) modes are studied in an isotropic cylinder. The L(0, 2) mode behaves anomalously for the mater√ials with a value of the bulk velocity ratio, κ,in the range ~(1/2) κ 2.64 and normally otherwise. All higher modes, except the first few, have no ZGV point for all isotropic materials. This is explained analytically by finding the slope of phase velocity dispersion curves of modes first when the phase velocity equals κ and then at their initial state.  相似文献

The purpose of this present work is to study the arc-shaped interfacial cracking problem in a hollow cylinder that consists of an inner orthotropic dielectric layer and an outer functionally graded piezoelectric layer. Based on the method of variable separation, the problem is reduced to a Cauchy singular integral equation, which is solved by the Lobatto-Chebyshev quadrature technique. Numerical results of the stress intensity factor are obtained and the effects of geometrical and physical quantities on the fracture parameter are surveyed in details.  相似文献

The present paper examines the elastostatic problem related to the axisymmetric rotation of a rigid circular punch which is bonded to the surface of a non-homogeneous isotropic elastic halfspace. The non-homogeneity corresponds to an axial variation of the linear elastic shear modulus according to the exponential form % MathType!MTEF!2!1!+-% feaafiart1ev1aaatCvAUfeBSjuyZL2yd9gzLbvyNv2CaerbuLwBLn% hiov2DGi1BTfMBaeXatLxBI9gBaerbd9wDYLwzYbItLDharqqtubsr% 4rNCHbGeaGqiVu0Je9sqqrpepC0xbbL8F4rqqrFfpeea0xe9Lq-Jc9% vqaqpepm0xbba9pwe9Q8fs0-yqaqpepae9pg0FirpepeKkFr0xfr-x% fr-xb9adbaqaaeGaciGaaiaabeqaamaabaabaaGcbaGaam4raiaacI% cacaWG6bGaaiykaiabg2da9iaadEeadaWgaaWcbaGaaGymaaqabaGc% cqGHRaWkcaWGhbWaaSbaaSqaaiaaikdaaeqaaOGaaeiiaiaabwgada% ahaaWcbeqaaiaab2cacqaH+oaEcaqG6baaaaaa!439C!\[G(z) = G_1 + G_2 {\text{ e}}^{{\text{ - }}\xi {\text{z}}} \]. A Hankel transform development of the governing equations yields a set of dual integral equations which in turn can be reduced to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. A numerical evaluation of this integral equation yields results which can be used to estimate the torque-twist relationship for the circular punch.  相似文献

The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of material inhomogeneity on the decay of Saint-Venant end effects in anti-plane shear deformations of linear isotropic mixtures of elastic solids. The work is motivated by the recent research activity on functionally graded materials (FGMs), i.e. materials with spatially varying properties tailored to satisfy particular engineering applications. The spatial decay of solutions of a boundary value problem with variable coefficients on a semi-infinite strip is investigated. The results may be interpreted in terms of a Saint-Venant principle for anti-plane shear deformations of linear isotropic mixtures of elastic solids.  相似文献

This paper presents a theoretical method for analyzing magnetothermoelastic responses and perturbation of the magnetic field vector in a conducting non-homogeneous thermoelastic cylinder subjected to thermal shock. By making use of finite Hankle integral transforms the analytical expressions for magnetothermodynamic stress and perturbation response of an axial magnetic field vector in the non-homogeneous cylinder are obtained. From sample numerical calculations both magnetothermostress and perturbation of the axial magnetic field vector in a non-homogeneous cylinder is revealed and discussed.  相似文献

Results of solving a linear problem on steady vibrations of a horizontal cylinder submerged in a fluid, whose upper boundary is partially closed by a solid lid, whereas the rest of the surface is free, are presented. Multipole and eigenfunction expansion methods are used. Reciprocity relations are derived. Added-mass and damping coefficients and the wave amplitudes on the free surface of the fluid are calculated.  相似文献

This article deals with the various heat source responses in a transversely isotropic hollow cylinder under the purview of three-phase-lag (TPL) generalized thermoelasticity theory. In presence of magnetic field and due to the rotating behavior of the cylinder, the governing equations are redefined for generalized thermoelasticity with thermal time delay. In order to obtain the stress, displacement and temperature field, the field functions are expressed in terms of modified Bessel functions in Laplace transformed domain. When the outer radius of hollow cylinder tends to infinity, the corresponding results are discussed. Finally an appropriate Laplace transform inversion technique is adopted.  相似文献

A novel asymptotic approach to the theory of non-homogeneous anisotropic plates is suggested. For the problem of linear static deformations we consider solutions, which are slowly varying in the plane of the plate in comparison to the thickness direction. A small parameter is introduced in the general equations of the theory of elasticity. According to the procedure of asymptotic splitting, the principal terms of the series expansion of the solution are determined from the conditions of solvability for the minor terms. Three-dimensional conditions of compatibility make the analysis more efficient and straightforward. We obtain the system of equations of classical Kirchhoff's plate theory, including the balance equations, compatibility conditions, elastic relations and kinematic relations between the displacements and strain measures. Subsequent analysis of the edge layer near the contour of the plate is required in order to satisfy the remaining boundary conditions of the three-dimensional problem. Matching of the asymptotic expansions of the solution in the edge layer and inside the domain provides four classical plate boundary conditions. Additional effects, like electromechanical coupling for piezoelectric plates, can easily be incorporated into the model due to the modular structure of the analysis. The results of the paper constitute a sound basis to the equations of the theory of classical plates with piezoelectric effects, and provide a trustworthy algorithm for computation of the stressed state in the three-dimensional problem. Numerical and analytical studies of a sample electromechanical problem demonstrate the asymptotic nature of the present theory.  相似文献
