In this paper, the existence “in the large” of time-periodic classical solutions (with period T) is proved for the following two dissipative ε-approximations for the Navier-Stokes equations modified in the sense of O. A. Ladyzhenskaya:

On the finiteness of optimal partitions

We prove that, under appropriate assumptions on the domain Ω and on the datumg, any optimal partition of Ω (minimizing the sum of the total perimeter and the approximation term is finite. Finiteness result for the problem of image segmentation in Artificial Vision can be deduced.

In this article, we study the homogenization of the family of parabolic equations over periodically perforated domains . Here, Ω_ɛ = ΩS _ε is a periodically perforated domain andd _ε is a sequence of positive numbers which goes to zero. We obtain the homogenized equation. The homogenization of the equations on a fixed domain and also the case of perforated domain with Neumann boundary condition was studied by the authors. The homogenization for a fixed domain and has been done by Jian. We also obtain certain corrector results to improve the weak convergence.

On the numerical construction of an attractor for the Navier-Stokes system

In this paper the problem of the numerical approximation of the minimal global B-attractor for a semiflow generated by the Navier-Stokes equations in a two-dimensional bounded domain Ω is considered. The method suggested here is based on the formula , where G^N is a sequence of compact subsets of L₂(Ω), . The procedure of constructing G^N is finite and includes the numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations by means of the Galerkin method, together with an explicit finite-difference discretization in time. The conformal radius as a function and its gradient image

Let Ω be a domain in with three or more boundary points in andR(w, Ω) the conformal, resp. hyperbolic radius of Ω at the pointw ε Ω/{∞}. We give a unified proof and some generalizations of a number of known theorems that are concerned with the geometry of the surface in the case that the Jacobian of ∇R(w, Ω), the gradient ofR, is nonegative on Ω. We discuss the function ∇R(w, Ω) in some detail, since it plays a central role in our considerations. Large deviations for empirical probability measures and statistical tests

Given subsets Ω, ϕ of a set of probability measures, questions about the uniform in P∈ϕ convergence of the normalized large deviations and about the convergence of the supremum over ϕ of this value are considered for empirical distributions .
