Existence of symmetric positive solutions for a class of Sturm-Liouville-like boundary value problems

This paper deals with the existence of symmetric positive solutions for a class of singular Sturm-Liouville-like boundary value problems with a one-dimensional p-Laplacian operator. By using the fixed theorem of cone expansion and compression of norm type in a cone, the existence of positive solutions is established though nonlinear term contains the first derivative of unknown function.

Exact solutions of a class of second-order nonlocal boundary value problems and applications

In this paper, solutions of a class of second-order differential equations with some multi-point boundary conditions are studied. We give exact expressions of the solutions for the linear m-point boundary problems by the Green’s functions. As applications, we study uniqueness and iteration of the positive solutions for a nonlinear singular second-order m-point boundary value problem.     

Nontrivial solutions for higher-order m-point boundary value problem with a sign-changing nonlinear term

This paper studies the existence of nontrivial solutions for a class of higher-order m-point singular boundary value problems based on the topological degree of a completely continuous field, the first eigenvalue and its corresponding eigenfunction of a special linear operator. The nonlinear term in the boundary value problems is sign-changing and may be unbounded from below.

Existence of multiple positive solutions for nth-order p-Laplacian m-point singular boundary value problems

In this paper, by using fixed point theorem, we prove the existence of multiple positive solutions for a class of nth-order p-Laplacian m-point singular boundary value problem. The interesting point is that the nonlinear term f explicitly involves the each-order derivative of variable u(t).

Positive Solutions for Singular Third-Order Boundary Value Problem with Dependence on the First Order Derivative on the Half-Line

By using fixed-point index theory and a new fixed-point theorem in cones, some sufficient conditions for the existence of countably many positive solutions for singular third-order boundary value problem on the half-line are established, which are the complement of previously known results. The interesting point lies in the fact that the nonlinear term is allowed to depend on the first order derivative u′.

Summability and existence results for quasilinear parabolic equations with Hardy potential term

In this paper we study the existence and the summability of the solutions for a class of nonlinear parabolic equations with Hardy potential term. In particular we show how the presence of this singular potential and the summability of the datum f influence the regularity of the solutions.     

TWO POSITIVE SOLUTIONS TO THREE-POINT SINGULAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS

In this article, we consider the existence of two positive solutions to nonlinear second order three-point singular boundary value problem: -u′′(t) = λf(t, u(t)) for all t ∈ (0, 1) subjecting to u(0) = 0 and αu(η) = u(1), where η∈ (0, 1), α∈ [0, 1), and λ is a positive parameter. The nonlinear term f(t, u) is nonnegative, and may be singular at t = 0, t = 1, and u = 0. By the fixed point index theory and approximation method, we establish that there exists λ* ∈ (0, +∞], such that the above problem has at least two positive solutions for any λ∈ (0, λ*) under certain conditions on the nonlinear term f.

Triple positive solutions for a class of third-order p-Laplacian singular boundary value problems

In this work, we study the existence of triple positive solutions for one-dimensional p-Laplacian singular boundary value problems $$\begin{array}{l}(\phi_p(y''(t)))'+f(t)g(t,\,y(t),\,y'(t),\,y''(t))=0,\quad 0<t<1,\\[3pt]ay(0)-by'(0)=0,\qquad cy(1)+dy'(1)=0,\qquad y''(0)=0,\end{array}$$ where φ _p (s)=|s| ^p?2 s,?p>1, g:[0,?1]×[0,?+∞)×R ²?[0,?+∞) and f:(0,?1)?[0,?+∞) are continuous. The nonlinear term f may be singular at t=0 and/or t=1. Firstly, Green’s function for the associated linear boundary value problem is constructed. Then, by making use of a fixed point theorem due to Avery and Peterson, sufficient conditions are obtained that guarantee the existence of triple positive solutions to the above boundary value problem. The interesting point is that the nonlinear term g involved with the first-order and second-order derivatives explicitly.
