We consider partial differential equations of variational problems with infinite symmetry groups. We study local conservation laws associated with arbitrary functions of one variable in the group generators. We show that only symmetries with arbitrary functions of dependent variables lead to an infinite number of conservation laws. We also calculate local conservation laws for the potential Zabolotskaya-Khokhlov equation for one of its infinite subgroups.__________Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Matematicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 144, No. 1, pp. 190–198, July, 2005.  相似文献

We consider two geometric formulations of Lagrangian formalism on fibred manifolds: Krupka's theory of finite order variational sequences, and Vinogradov's infinite order variational sequence associated with the -spectral sequence. On one hand, we show that the direct limit of Krupka's variational bicomplex is a new infinite order variational bicomplex which yields a new infinite order variational sequence. On the other hand, by means of Vinogradov's -spectral sequence, we provide a new finite order variational sequence whose direct limit turns out to be the Vinogradov's infinite order variational sequence. Finally, we provide an equivalence of the two finite order and infinite order variational sequences modulo the space of Euler-Lagrange morphisms.  相似文献

The C-spectral sequence was introduced by A. M. Vinogradov in the late Seventies as a fundamental tool for the study of the algebro-geometric properties of jet spaces and differential equations. A spectral sequence arises from the contact filtration of the modules of forms on jet spaces of a fibring (or on a differential equation). In order to avoid serious technical difficulties, the order of the jet space is not fixed, i.e., computations are performed on spaces containing forms on jet spaces of any order. In this paper we show that there exists a formulation of Vinogradov's C-spectral sequence in the case of finite-order jet spaces of a fibred manifold. We compute all cohomology groups of the finite-order C-spectral sequence. We obtain a finite-order variational sequence which is shown to be naturally isomorphic with Krupka's finite-order variational sequence.  相似文献

After a short exposition of the theory of local and nonlocal symmetries and conservation laws for systems of PDEs, results on these and the recursion operator are listed for the system of PDEs ux=vwx, vy=uwy, uv+wxx+wyy=0. In between the methods of computation are explained.  相似文献

The modified regularized long wave (MRLW) equation, with some initial conditions, is solved numerically by variational iteration method. This method is useful for obtaining numerical solutions with high degree of accuracy. The variational iteration solution for the MRLW equation converges to its exact solution. Moreover, the conservation laws properties of the MRLW equation are also studied. Finally, interaction of two and three solitary waves is shown. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Various geometrical structures related to the Liouville equation are considered. Properties of the symmetry algebra are discussed and local conserved currents are constructed. Bäcklund transformations for the Liouville equation are integrated and nontrivial generalizations of the latter are studied as well as the structures on them.  相似文献

In this paper, a least-squares finite element method for scalar nonlinear hyperbolic balance laws is proposed and studied. The approach is based on a formulation that utilizes an appropriate Helmholtz decomposition of the flux vector and is related to the standard notion of a weak solution. This relationship, together with a corresponding connection to negative-norm least-squares, is described in detail. As a consequence, an important numerical conservation theorem is obtained, similar to the famous Lax–Wendroff theorem. The numerical conservation properties of the method in this paper do not fall precisely in the framework introduced by Lax and Wendroff, but they are similar in spirit as they guarantee that when L2 convergence holds, the resulting approximations approach a weak solution to the hyperbolic problem. The least-squares functional is continuous and coercive in an H−1-type norm, but not L2-coercive. Nevertheless, the L2 convergence properties of the method are discussed. Convergence can be obtained either by an explicit regularization of the functional, that provides control of the L2 norm, or by properly choosing the finite element spaces, providing implicit control of the L2 norm. Numerical results for the inviscid Burgers equation with discontinuous source terms are shown, demonstrating the L2 convergence of the obtained approximations to the physically admissible solution. The numerical method utilizes a least-squares functional, minimized on finite element spaces, and a Gauss–Newton technique with nested iteration. We believe that the linear systems encountered with this formulation are amenable to multigrid techniques and combining the method with adaptive mesh refinement would make this approach an efficient tool for solving balance laws (this is the focus of a future study).  相似文献

We generalize a classic result, due to Goldschmidt and Sternberg, relating the Jacobi morphism and the Hessian for first-order field theories to higher-order gauge-natural field theories. In particular, we define a generalized gauge-natural Jacobi morphism where the variation vector fields are Lie derivatives of sections of the gauge-natural bundle with respect to gauge-natural lifts of infinitesimal principal automorphisms, and we relate it to the Hessian. The Hessian is also very simply related to the generalized Bergmann-Bianchi morphism, whose kernel provides necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of global canonical superpotentials. We find that the Hamilton equations for the Hamiltonian connection associated with a suitably defined covariant strongly conserved current are satisfied identically and can be interpreted as generalized Bergmann-Bianchi identities and thus characterized in terms of the Hessian vanishing. In this paper, we developed a class of the fourth order accurate finite volume Hermite weighted essentially non-oscillatory (HWENO) schemes based on the work (Computers & Fluids, 34: 642–663 (2005)) by Qiu and Shu, with Total Variation Diminishing Runge-Kutta time discretization method for the two-dimensional hyperbolic conservation laws. The key idea of HWENO is to evolve both with the solution and its derivative, which allows for using Hermite interpolation in the reconstruction phase, resulting in a more compact stencil at the expense of the additional work. The main difference between this work and the formal one is the procedure to reconstruct the derivative terms. Comparing with the original HWENO schemes of Qiu and Shu, one major advantage of new HWENO schemes is its robust in computation of problem with strong shocks. Extensive numerical experiments are performed to illustrate the capability of the method. The aim of the paper is to study qualitative properties of entropy solutions to the Cauchy problem for the following reaction-convection equation with nonconvex flux f In particular we prove that under suitable assumptions the solution is continuous for large t.New resultsconcerning the asymptotic behavior of solutions are also given, proving convergence to a suitable combination of traveling profiles with different speeds.  相似文献

In this article, we consider weighted variational inequalities over a product of sets and a system of weighted variational inequalities in normed spaces. We extend most results established in Ansari, Q.H., Khan, Z. and Siddiqi, A.H., (Weighted variational inequalities, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 127(2005), pp. 263–283), from Euclidean spaces ordered by their respective non-negative orthants to normed spaces ordered by their respective non-trivial closed convex cones with non-empty interiors.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a class of differential inverse variational inequality (for short, DIVI) in finite dimensional Euclidean spaces. Firstly, under some suitable assumptions, we obtain linear growth of the solution set for the inverse variational inequalities. Secondly, we prove existence theorems for weak solutions of the DIVI in the weak sense of Carath\"{e}odory by using measurable selection lemma. Thirdly, by employing the results from differential inclusions we establish a convergence result on Euler time dependent procedure for solving the DIVI. Finally, we give a numerical experiment to verify the validity of the algorithm.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce and consider a general system of variational inequalities. Using the projection technique, we suggest and analyse new iterative methods for this system of variational inequalities. We also study the convergence analysis of the new iterative method under certain mild conditions. Since this new system includes the system of variational inequalities involving the single operator, variational inequalities and related optimization problems as special cases, results obtained in this article continue to hold for these problems. Our results improve and extend the recent ones announced by many others.  相似文献

In the paper the representation of the finite order variational sequence on fibered manifolds in field theory is studied. The representation problem is completely solved by a generalization of the integration by parts procedure using the concept of the Lie derivative of forms with respect to vector fields along canonical maps of prolongations of fibered manifolds. A close relationship between the obtained coordinate invariant representation of the variational sequence and some familiar objects of physics, such as Lagrangians, dynamical forms, Euler–Lagrange mapping and Helmholtz–Sonin mapping is pointed out and illustrated by examples.Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000) 58E99, 49F99.Jana Musilová: Research of both authors supported by grants MSM 0021622409 and 201/03/0512.  相似文献

We present a generalization of the concept of semiholonomic jets within the framework of higher order prolongations of a fibred manifold. In this respect, a compilation of our 2-fibred manifold approach with the methods of natural operators theory is used.  相似文献

An existence result for the equilibrium problem is proved in a general topological vector space. As applications, existence results are derived for variational inequality problems, vector equilibrium problems and vector variational inequality problems. Our results extend and unify a number of existence theorems in non-compact cases  相似文献

Fix an element x of a finite partially ordered set P on n elements. Then let hi(x) be the number of linear extensions of P in which x is in position i, counting from the bottom. The sequence {hi(x):1≤in} is the height sequence of x in P. In 1982, Stanley used the Alexandrov–Fenchel inequalities for mixed volumes to prove that this sequence is log-concave, i.e., for 1≤in−2. However, Stanley’s elegant proof does not seem to shed any light on the error term when the inequality is not tight; as a result, researchers have been unable to answer some challenging questions involving height sequences in posets. In this paper, we provide a purely combinatorial proof of two important special cases of Stanley’s theorem by applying Daykin’s inequality to an appropriately defined distributive lattice. As an end result, we prove a somewhat stronger result, one for which it may be possible to analyze the error terms when the log-concavity bound is not tight.  相似文献

The concept of a generalized projection operator onto a convex closed subset of a Banach space is modified. This operator is used to construct a first-order continuous method for the Antipin regularization of monotone variational inequalities in a Banach space. Sufficient conditions for the convergence of the method are found.  相似文献
