It has been shown that the rotation of a spherical nanoparticle with the radius R near the surface of a semi-infinite homogeneous medium can result in singular resonance in fluctuation-induced electromagnetic phenomena (Casimir force, Casimir friction, and radiative heat generation). Fluctuation electromagnetic effects increase strongly near this resonance even in the presence of dissipation in the system. The resonance occurs at distances of the particle from the surface d < d0R(3/4ε″11)ε″22))1/3 (where ε″ii) is the imaginary part of the dielectric function of the particle or the medium at the frequency of a surface phonon or plasmon polariton ωi), when the rotation frequency coincides with poles in the photon generation rate at Ω ≈ ω1 + ω2. These poles are due to the multiple scattering of electromagnetic waves between the particle and surface under conditions of the anomalous Doppler effect. These poles exist even in the presence of dissipation. At d < d0, depending on the particle rotation frequency, the Casimir force can change sign; i.e., the attraction of the particle to the surface changes to repulsion. The results can be important for the development of experimental methods for the detection of quantum friction.  相似文献

Within the framework of the non-perturbative light–atom interaction theory, we consider the population dynamics of the ground-state sublevels corresponding to the different values of the orbital quantum number (l) projections and its influence on the high optical harmonics. We study the problem of high optical harmonics generation in two geometries: (1) two linearly polarized fields at frequencies ω and 2ω for different angles of azimuthal projection difference and arbitrary orientation with respect to the angular momentum of the atom direction; (2) two elliptically polarized fields at frequencies ω and 2ω rotating in opposite directions with variable mutual ellipticity. We show that the unequal population dynamics of the levels with different projections of the atom angular momentum (magnetic quantum number) has a significant impact on the value of the ellipticity of the generated radiation.  相似文献

We employed density-functional theory (DFT) within the generalized gradient approximation(GGA) to investigate the ZrTi2 alloy, and obtained its structural phase transition, mechanical behavior, Gibbs free energy as a function of pressure, P-V equation of state, electronic and Mulliken population analysis results. The lattice parameters andP-V EOS for α, β and ω phases revealed by ourcalculations are consistent with other experimental and computational values. The elasticconstants obtained suggest that ω-ZrTi2 and α-ZrTi2 are mechanically stable, and that β-ZrTi2 is mechanically unstableat 0 GPa, but becomes more stable with increasing pressure. Our calculated resultsindicate a phase transition sequence of αωβ forZrTi2. Both thebulk modulus B and shear modulus G increase linearly withincreasing pressure for three phases. The G/B values illustrated goodductility of ZrTi2alloy for three phases, with ω<α<β at0 GPa. The Mulliken population analysis showed that the increment of d electron occupancystabilized the β phase. A low value for B '0 is the feature of EOS for ZrTi2 and this softness in the EOS isrepresentative of pressure induced s-d electron transfer.  相似文献

The instability of nuclear matter is considered for the case where it is generated by the vanishing of the frequencies of collective excitations belonging to specific types (specifically, excitations that have the pion quantum numbers J π = 0?). The behavior of zero-frequency solutions to the pion dispersion equation is analyzed versus the strength G′ of spin—isospin particle—hole interaction. It is shown that there exists a strength value Gtr (|Gtr| ? 1) such that, for G′ < Gtr, zero-frequency solutions are excitations of the ω P type, while, for G′ ≥ Gtr, such solutions are excitations of the ω c type. Excitations of the ω P type for G′ < ?1 describe the instability of nuclear matter against small density fluctuations (Pomeranchuk’s instability), while excitations of the ω c type are responsible for the instability associated with pion condensation at G′ ≈ 2. For stable nuclear matter, the solutions ω P(κ) and ω c (κ) lie on unphysical sheets of the complex plane of frequency.  相似文献

After the nontrivial quantum parameters Ω n and quantum potentials V n obtained in our previous research, the circumstance of a real scalar wave in the bulk is studied with the similar method of Brevik and Simonsen (Gen. Rel. Grav. 33:1839, 2001). The equation of a massless scalar field is solved numerically under the boundary conditions near the inner horizon r e and the outer horizon r c . Unlike the usual wave function Ψωl in 4D, quantum number n introduces a new functions Ψωl n , whose potentials are higher and wider with bigger n. Using the tangent approximation, a full boundary value problem about the Schrödinger-like equation is solved. With a convenient replacement of the 5D continuous potential by square barrier, the reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained. If extra dimension does exist and is visible at the neighborhood of black holes, the unique wave function Ψωl n may say something to it.  相似文献

It has been shown that optical and ultraviolet radiation from relativistic electrons at planar channeling in optically transparent crystals is characterized by an unusual dependence on the polar and azimuth angles. A fraction of radiation with the frequency ω near which the derivative of the refractive index is nonzero, n'(ω) = dn(ω)/dω ≠ 0, should be observed at an angle close to π/2 with respect to the electron beam. For normal dispersion (n'(ω) > 0), this angle is smaller than π/2, whereas for anomalous dispersion (n'(ω) < 0), it is larger than π/2 (“backward” radiation). A pronounced dependence of the radiation intensity on the azimuth angle φ, i.e., azimuthal asymmetry, appears beyond the region of normal and anomalous dispersion at a fixed polar angle θ. In particular, the ratio of radiation intensities at angles φ = 0 and π/2 at θ = π/2 reaches a maximum value of about the square of the refractive index.  相似文献

The submillimeter (?ω=0.5–5 meV) magnetoabsorption spectra of strained Ge/Ge1?xSix(111) multilayer heterostructures with thick Ge layers (dGe=300–850 Å, dGeSi≈200 Å, x≈0.1) are investigated at T=4.2 K upon band-gap optical excitation. It is revealed that the absorption spectra contain cyclotron resonance lines of 1L electrons localized in GeSi solid solution layers (unlike the previously studied structures with thin Ge layers as quantum wells for 3L electrons). The absorption spectra of the samples with thick Ge layers (dGe=800–850 Å) exhibit cyclotron resonance lines of holes due to transitions from the lower Landau levels in the first quantum-well subband to the Landau levels belonging to the third and fifth higher subbands.  相似文献

A thin Bi layer is irradiated by X-rays so thatL-Auger electrons are emitted. A magnetic lens spectrometer is used to measure the electron spectrum. Energy, transition, and relativ intensity are given for 14 lines. Under the most favourable conditions the number ofL III ionisations is about ten times that ofL II ionisations. In this case only a small intensity ofL II-Auger electrons is superposed on theL III-Auger spectrum. The ratiod of intensities of line groupL III M N to line groupL III M M is found by extrapolation to bed=0·46±0·02. This combined with earlier results gives anL III-Auger yielda 3= 0·64±0·04. TheL III fluorescenc yield isω 3=0·36±0·04, correspondingly. A further application of the experimental method is described.  相似文献

In this work, we consider two different techniques based on reservoir engineering process and quantum Zeno control method to analyze the decoherence control mechanism of a charged magneto-oscillator in contact with different type of environment. Our analysis reveals that both the control mechanisms are very much sensitive on the details of different environmental spectrum (J?(ω)), and also on different system and reservoir parameters, e.g., external magnetic field (r c ), confinement length (r 0), temperature (T), cut-off frequency of reservoir spectrum (ω cut ), and measurement interval (τ). We also demonstrate the manipulation scheme of the continuous passage from decay suppression to decay acceleration by tuning the above mentioned system or reservoir parameters, e.g., r c , r 0, T and τ.  相似文献

We study interacting condensates in anisotropic traps. Employing a two-level mean-field theory, which is valid provided the interaction energy is much smaller than ?ωx and ?ωy and the number of particles N is much larger than unity, we see that even a small interaction can drastically modify the dynamics of the system as predicted by García-Ripoll et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 87, 140403 (2001)]. In the present work, we supplement the discussion of the previous work and point out the important role of coupling between population difference and phase difference between two p states in the x and y directions. We also explore the stability of the vortex state for small systems with NO(1), for which the mean-field theory is inapplicable. We performed the full quantum mechanical calculations using up to six single-particle states and showed that, when N is comparable to unity, quantum tunneling between the vortex and antivortex states can occur even though the interaction coefficient is so large that the vortex-antivortex oscillation is prohibited within the mean-field theory.  相似文献

A system of particles with spin in a magnetic field may possess an orbital temperatureT o different from the spin temperatureT s (?0), if it is possible to neglect the energetic interaction between the orbital and the spin system. The calculation of the quantum statistical most probable distribution of identical independent particles on the orbital and spin energy levels yields the introduction of three Lagrange multipliers—according to the fact that the orbital and the spin energy and the number of particles are fixed—representing the orbital and spin temperature and a generalizedPlanck's “characteristic function”. Apart from the Boltzmann-approximation being valid in the case of small spin values forT o ?T e (T e =customary degeneration temperature) and arbitraryT s ?0, the distributions and the orbital and the spin energy depend onboth the temperaturesT o andT s coming from the principle of exclusion forFermi resp.Bose particles. The equations of state are discussed. There are four heat capacities, which possess characteristic peaks. In stead of the well-known temperature independence of the paramagnetism of degenerated conducting electrons one obtains χ~T o /T s . The behaviour of the Einstein-condensation of aBose gas is considered.  相似文献

The transmittance D(ω), reflectance R(ω), and dispersion ω(k) are investigated for waves of various nature propagating through a one-dimensional superlattice (multilayer structure) with arbitrary thickness of the interlayer boundary. The dependences of the band gap widths δωm and their positions in the wave spectrum of the superlattice on the interlayer boundary thickness d and the band number m are calculated. Calculations are performed in terms of the modified coupled-mode theory (MCMT) using the frequency dependence of R(ω), as well as in the framework of perturbation theory using the function ω (k), which made it possible to estimate the accuracy of the MCMT method; the MCMT method is found to have a high accuracy in calculating the band gap widths and a much lower accuracy in determining the gap positions. It is shown that the m dependence of δω m for electromagnetic (or elastic) waves is different from that for spin waves. Furthermore, the widths of the band gaps with m=1 and 2 are practically independent of d, whereas the widths of all gaps for m>2 depend strongly on d. Experimental measurements of these dependences allow one to determine the superlattice interface thicknesses by using spectral methods.  相似文献

We study the heat power P transferred between electrons and phonons in thin metallic films deposited on free-standing dielectric membranes. The temperature range is typically below 1 K, such that the wavelengths of the excited phonon modes in the system is large enough so that the picture of a quasi-two-dimensional phonon gas is applicable. Moreover, due to the quantization of the components of the electron wavevectors perpendicular to the metal film’s surface, the electrons spectrum forms also quasi two-dimensional sub-bands, as in a quantum well (QW). We describe in detail the contribution to the electron–phonon energy exchange of different electron scattering channels, as well as of different types of phonon modes. We find that heat flux oscillates strongly with thickness of the film d while having a much smoother variation with temperature (T e for the electrons temperature and T ph for the phonons temperature), so that one obtains a ridge-like landscape in the two coordinates, (d, T e ) or (d, T ph ), with crests and valleys aligned roughly parallel to the temperature axis. For the valley regions we find PT e 3.5 T ph 3.5 . From valley to crest, P increases by more than one order of magnitude and on the crests P cannot be represented by a simple power law. The strong dependence of P on d is indicative of the formation of the QW state and can be useful in controlling the heat transfer between electrons and crystal lattice in nano-electronic devices. Nevertheless, due to the small value of the Fermi wavelength in metals, the surface imperfections of the metallic films can reduce the magnitude of the oscillations of P vs. d, so this effect might be easier to observe experimentally in doped semiconductors.  相似文献

Using the Green’s function technique, we respectively investigate the electron transport properties of two spin components through the system of a T-shaped double quantum dot structure coupled to a Majorana bound state, in which only one quantum dot is connected with two metallic leads. We explore the interplay between the Fano effect and the MBSs for different dot-MBS coupling strength λ, dot-dot coupling strength t, and MBS-MBS coupling strength εM in the noninteracting case. Then the Coulomb interaction and magnetic field effect on the conductance spectra are investigated. Our results indicate that G(ω) is not affected by the Majorana bound states, but a “0.5” conductance signature occurs in the vicinities of Fermi level of G(ω). This robust property persists for a wide range of dot-dot coupling strength and dot-MBS coupling strength, but it can be destroyed by Coulomb interaction in quantum dots. By adjusting the size and direction of magnetic field around the quantum dots, the “0.5” conductance signature damaged by U can be restored. At last, the spin magnetic moments of two dots by applying external magnetic field are also predicted.  相似文献

An exact definition of the group velocity v g is proposed for a wave process with arbitrary dispersion relation ω = ω′(k) + ″(k). For the monochromatic approximation, a limit expression v g (k) is obtained. A condition under which v g (k) takes the form of the Kuzelev–Rukhadze expression [1] ′(k)/dk is found. In the general case, it appears that v g (k) is defined not only by the dispersion relation ω(k), but also by other elements of the initial problem. As applied to the dissipative medium, it is shown that v g (k) defines the field energy transfer velocity, and this velocity does not exceed thee light speed in vacuum. An expression for the energy transfer velocity is also obtained for the case where the dispersion relation is given in the form k = k′(ω) + ik″(ω) which corresponds to the boundary problem.  相似文献

Quantum Cherenkov radiation and quantum friction at the motion of a small neutral particle parallel to the surface of a transparent dielectric with the refractive index n have been studied in a fully relativistic theory. Radiation appears at velocities above the threshold value, v > v c = c/n. The friction force in the particle–plate configuration has been derived from the friction force in the plate–plate configuration under the assumption that one of the plates is significantly decharged. A decrease in the kinetic energy of the particle near the threshold velocity is due to its radiation and near the speed of light is determined by the heat power absorbed by the particle in the rest frame. The powers of quantum and classical Cherenkov radiation can be comparable in the relativistic case.  相似文献

In this contribution, I show that it is possible to construct three-dimensional spaces of nonconstant curvature, i.e., three-dimensional Darboux spaces. Two-dimensional Darboux spaces have been introduced by Kalnins et al., with a path integral approach by the present author. In comparison to two dimensions, in three dimensions it is necessary to add a curvature term in the Lagrangian in order that the quantum motion can be properly defined. Once this is done, it turns out that, in the two three-dimensional Darboux spaces which are discussed in this paper, the quantum motion is similar to the two-dimensional case. In D 3d-I, we find seven coordinate systems which separate the Schrödinger equation. For the second space, D 3d-II, all coordinate systems of flat three-dimensional Euclidean space which separate the Schrödinger equation also separate the Schrödinger equation in D 3d-II. I solve the path integral on D 3d-I in the (u, v, w) system and on D 3d-II in the (u, v, w) system and in spherical coordinates.  相似文献

An apparatus is described, with which, for the first time, the spectra of Augere-lectrons and of X-rays, produced by the impact of electrons, were measured simultaneously. The electron spectrometer was a magnetic 180°-spectrometer with a half-width of 0·5%. The X-ray spectrometer was a NaJ-crystal with a photomultiplier. The electron- and the X-rays were produced in metallic foils of a thickness of 50 Å by the impact of 55-keV-electrons. The knownK-fluorescence-yields of copper and selenium were used to determine the various yields for theL-shells of gold. TheL-fluorescence-yields areω L1 =0·08±0·01;ω L2 =0·26±0·03;ω L3 =0·24±0·02.  相似文献

The increments of the real and imaginary components of the complex refractive index ΔN = ΔniΔk of a lightly doped GaAs crystal with a donor concentration of ~1016 cm–3 have been measured using modulation polarimetry. It is shown that, within this representation, the birefringence and dichroism spectra (Δn(ω) and Δk(ω), respectively) obtained in the transparency window of a sample subjected to probe strain are derivatives of the corresponding functions: Δn(ω) ≈ dn/dω and Δk(ω) ≈ dk/dω. The experimental characteristics and primary dependences n(ω) and k(ω) derived from them by graphical integration are in agreement with the results of other researchers and measurements carried out by independent methods. The results obtained are compared (taking into account the integral (Kramers–Kronig) relations) with the resonance parameters: amplitude and phase in the Drude–Lorenz model. Agreement between the experimental characteristics and theoretical model predictions can be obtained by choosing an appropriate value of resonance damping parameter.  相似文献
