We have carried out electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements on powder samples of sodalite loaded with Na at several frequencies between 9.7 and 35 GHz and at temperatures between 1.5 and 60 K. The ESR absorption spectrum below a Néel temperature TN turns into an asymmetric spectrum with a long tail at low fields from a symmetric one above TN. The line shape of the spectra below TN is analyzed by a powder pattern simulation of the antiferromagnetic resonance spectra with easy-plane anisotropy. The calculated line shape reproduces the experimental one considerably well by assuming a Gaussian distribution of the zero-field energy gap. We have evaluated a small anisotropy field of about 2×10−4 T by using the exchange coupling constant calculated from the Weiss and the Néel temperatures. This result indicates that the sodalite loaded with Na is quite an ideal Heisenberg antiferromagnet as expected from the s-electron character of Na clusters and the cubic arrangement of nano-spaces in the sodalite.  相似文献

Effects of the replacement of La with Ce on the electronic and magnetic properties of a layered superconductor LaFePO (Tc=∼5 K) were studied. Polycrystalline samples of CeFePO, prepared by a solid-state reaction, showed metallic conduction down to 2 K without exhibiting superconducting transition, although the resistivity decreased largely at temperatures below 30 K. Further, they showed an apparent positive magnetoresistance (MR) below ∼2 K, superposed on a negative MR. Temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility is decomposed to a temperature-sensitive Curie-Weiss component presumably due to the Ce3+ ions with a magnetic moment of 1.98μB and a less temperature-sensitive component attributable to itinerant electrons. The magnetic interaction between Ce3+ ions and itinerant electrons in CeFePO likely suppresses the superconducting transition observed in LaFePO.  相似文献

The frequency dependence of the real (?′) and imaginary (?″) parts of the dielectric constant of polycrystalline hematite (α-Fe2O3) has been investigated in the frequency range 0-100 kHz and the temperature range 190-350 K, in order to reveal experimentally the electron hopping mechanism that takes place during the Morin transition of spin-flip process. The dielectric behaviour is described well by the Debye-type relaxation (α-dispersion) in the temperature regions T<233 K and T>338 K. In the intermediate temperature range 233 K<T<338 K a charge carrier mechanism takes place (electron jump from the O2− ion into one of the magnetic ions Fe3+) which gives rise to the low frequency conductivity and to the Ω-dispersion. The temperature dependence of relaxation time (τ) in the −ln τ vs 103/T plot shows two linear regions. In the first, T<238 K, τ increases with increasing T implying a negative activation energy −0.01 eV, and in the second region T>318 K τ decreases as the temperature increases implying a positive activation energy 0.12 eV. The total reorganization energy (0.12-0.01) 0.11 eV is in agreement with the adiabatic activation energy 0.11 eV given by an ab initio model in the literature. The temperature dependence of the phase shift in the frequencies 1, 5, 10 kHz applied shows clearly an average Morin temperature TMo=284±1 K that is higher than the value of 263 K corresponding to a single crystal due to the size and shape of material grains.  相似文献

The effect of oxygen/cobalt off-stoichiometry upon magnetism in CaBaCo4O7 has been investigated. It is shown that the oxides CaBaCo4O7+δ and CaBaCo4−xO7−δ (0≤x≤0.20) synthesized below 1100 °C in air exhibit phase separation, where ferrimagnetic regions with TC~56 K to 64 K coexist with regions of magnetic clusters. The latter are detected from ac-susceptibility measurements, which show various frequency dependent peaks at ~14–20 K, 37 K, and 45 K, depending on the stoichiometry. The origin of this phenomenon is attributed to the great sensitivity of the material to oxidation as the synthesis of temperature is lowered, leading to the introduction of additional Co3+ cations, with respect to the ideal formula CaBaCo22+Co23+O7. This excess Co3+ tends to destroy the ferromagnetic zig-zag chains of the ferrimagnetic structure and creates various cobalt spin clusters, leading to the inherent phase separation in the samples.  相似文献

Nickelocene [bis(η5-cyclopentadienyl)nickel: Ni(C5H5)2, electron spin S=1, the ground state configuration 3A2g] is paramagnetic and belongs to a typical molecule-based magnet. Heat capacities of nickelocene have been measured at temperatures in the 3−320 K range by adiabatic calorimetry. By comparing with those of diamagnetic ferrocene crystal, a small heat capacity peak centered at around 15 K and a sluggish hump centered at around 135 K were successfully separated. The low-temperature peak at 15 K caused by the spin is well reproduced by the Schottky anomaly due to the uniaxial zero-field splitting of the spin S=1 with the uniaxial zero-field splitting parameter D/k=45 K (k: the Boltzmann constant). The magnetic entropy 9.7 J K−1 mol−1 is substantially the same as the contribution from the spin-manifold R ln 3=9.13 J K−1 mol−1 (R: the gas constant). The sluggish hump centered at around 135 K arises from rotational disordering of the cyclopentadienyl rings of nickelocene molecule. The enthalpy and entropy gains due to this anomaly are 890 J mol−1 and 6.9 J K−1 mol−1, respectively. As the hump spreads over a wide temperature region, separation of the hump from the observed heat capacity curve involves a little bit ambiguity. Therefore, these values should be regarded as being reasonable but tentative. The present entropy gain is comparable with 5.5 J K−1 mol−1 for the sharp phase transition at 163.9 K of ferrocene crystal. This fact implies that although the disordering of the rings likewise takes place in both nickelocene and ferrocene, it proceeds gradually in nickelocene and by way of a cooperative phase transition in ferrocene. A reason for this originates in loose molecular packing in nickelocene crystal. Molar heat capacity and the standard molar entropy of nickelocene are larger than those of ferrocene beyond the mass effect over the whole temperature region investigated. This fact provides with definite evidences for the loose molecular packing in nickelocene crystal.  相似文献

Heat capacity of two rare-earth orthoferrites HoFeO3 and LuFeO3 were measured between 1.8 and 200 K. A distinctly large and two small heat capacity anomalies were detected for HoFeO3 under zero magnetic field around 3.3, 53 and 58 K, respectively. The low-temperature anomaly with a peak at 3.3 K is due to the ordering of Ho3+ ions and the estimated magnetic entropy for this transition was favorably compared with the expected (R ln 2). Application of magnetic field significantly affects the positions and the magnitudes of the anomaly at 3.3 K. Energies of low-lying levels of the lowest J-term of Ho3+ ion were roughly estimated through analysis of the Schottky heat capacity.  相似文献

Heat capacities of the electron acceptor 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) and its radical-ion salt NH4-TCNQ have been measured at temperatures in the 12-350 K range by adiabatic calorimetry. A λ-type heat capacity anomaly arising from a spin-Peierls (SP) transition was found at 301.3 K in NH4-TCNQ. The enthalpy and entropy of transition are ΔtrsH=(667±7) J mol−1 and ΔtrsS=(2.19±0.02) J K−1 mol−1, respectively. The SP transition is characterized by a cooperative coupling between the spin and the phonon systems. By assuming a uniform one-dimensional antiferromagnetic (AF) Heisenberg chains consisting of quantum spin (S=1/2) in the high-temperature phase and an alternating AF nonuniform chains in the low-temperature phase, we estimated the magnetic contribution to the entropy as ΔtrsSmag=0.61 J K−1 mol−1 and the lattice contribution as ΔtrsSlat=1.58 J K−1 mol−1. Although the total magnetic entropy expected for the present compound is R ln 2 (=5.76 J K−1 mol−1), a majority of the magnetic entropy (∼4.6 J K−1 mol−1) persists in the high-temperature phase as a short-range-order effect. The present thermodynamic investigation quantitatively revealed the roles played by the spin and the phonon at the SP transition. Standard thermodynamic functions of both compounds have also been determined.  相似文献

Heat-capacity investigations on the ferrimagnetic spinel FeCr2S4 poly- and single crystals provide experimental evidence of orbital liquid and orbital glass states. The low-temperature transition in the polycrystals at 10 K arises from orbital order and is very sensitive to the sample stoichiometry. In the single crystals the orbital order is fully suppressed resulting in an orbital glass state with the heat capacity following a strict T2 dependence towards zero temperature. At elevated temperatures, FeCr2S4 exhibits an unexpected large linear term of about 100 mJ mol−1 K−2 as the fingerprint of the orbital liquid.  相似文献

A new molecular solid, [1-(4′-bromo-2′-fluorobenzyl)-4-dimetylaminopyridinium]-bis(maleonitriledithiolato)nickel(III), (BrFBzPyN(CH3)2(Ni(mnt)2)(1), has been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, ESI-MS spectra, single crystal X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. Compound 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma, a=20.579(4) Å, b=7.078(1) Å, c=17.942(4) Å, α=β=γ=90°, V=2613.3(9) Å3, Z=4. The Ni(III) ions of 1 form a quasi-one-dimensional Zigzag magnetic chain within a Ni(mnt)2 column through Ni?S, S?S, Ni?Ni, or π?π interactions with an Ni?Ni distance of 4.227 Å. Magnetic susceptibility measurements in the temperature range 2-300 K show that 1 exhibits a spin-gap transition around 200 K, and antiferromagnetic interaction in the high-temperature phase (HT) and spin gap in the low-temperature phase (LT). The transition for 1 is second-order phase transition as determined by DSC analyses.  相似文献

The existence of micropores and the change of surface structure in pitch-based hard-carbon in xenon atmosphere were demonstrated using 129Xe NMR. For high-pressure (4.0 MPa) 129Xe NMR measurements, the hard-carbon samples in Xe gas showed three peaks at 27, 34 and 210 ppm. The last was attributed to the xenon in micropores (<1 nm) in hard-carbon particles. The NMR spectrum of a sample evacuated at 773 K and exposed to 0.1 MPa Xe gas at 773 K for 24 h showed two peaks at 29 and 128 ppm, which were attributed, respectively, to the xenon atoms adsorbed in the large pores (probably mesopores) and micropores of hard-carbon. With increasing annealing time in Xe gas at 773 K, both peaks shifted and merged into one peak at 50 ppm. The diffusion of adsorbed xenon atoms is very slow, probably because the transfer of molecules or atoms among micropores in hard-carbon does not occur readily. Many micropores are isolated from the outer surface. For that reason, xenon atoms are thought to be adsorbed only by micropores near the surface, which are easily accessible from the surrounding space.  相似文献

The Hall coefficient RH of n-type CuInSe2 single crystals is measured between 10 and 300 K in pulsed magnetic field up to 35 T. The threshold field Bth, above which the magnetic freezeout starts to occur, varies linearly with temperature. From the analysis of the temperature dependence of electron concentration in the activation regime above 100 K at different field values, it is established that the density of states effective mass is independent of the magnetic field B and the activation energy ED, above around 6 T, varies as B1/3. Similar B1/3 dependence of the magnetoresistance in the high magnetic field regime, reported earlier in the same material, suggests that theoretical work that could explain this coincidence is needed.  相似文献

Size-controlled Mn0.67Zn0.33Fe2O4 nanoparticles in the wide range from 80 to 20 nm have been synthesized, for the first time, using the oxidation method. It has been demonstrated that the particle size can be tailor-made by varying the concentration of the oxidant. The magnetization of the 80 nm particles was 49 A m2 kg−1 compared to 34 A m2 kg−1 for the 20 nm particles. The Curie temperatures for all the samples are found to be within 630±5 K suggesting that there is no size-dependent cation distribution. The critical particle size for the superparamagnetic limit is found to be about 25 nm. The effective magnetic anisotropy constant is experimentally determined to be 7.78 kJ m−3 for the 25 nm particles, which is about an order of magnitude higher than that of the bulk ferrite.  相似文献

Double-layered manganite La1.4Ca1.6Mn2O7 has been synthesized using the solid-state reaction method. It had a metal-to-insulator transition at temperature TM1≈127 K. The temperature dependence of ac susceptibility showed a broad ferromagnetic transition. The two-dimensional (2D)-ferromagnetic ordering temperature (TC2) was observed as ≈245 K. The temperature dependence of its low-field magnetoresistance has been studied. The low-field magnetoresistance of double-layered manganite, in the temperature regions between TM1 and TC2, has been found to follow 1/T5. The observed behaviour of temperature dependence of resistivity and low-field magnetoresistance has been explained in terms of two-phase model where ferromagnetic domains exist in the matrix of paramagnetic regions in which spin-dependent tunneling of charge carriers occurs between the ferromagnetic correlated regions. Based on the two-phase model, the dimension of these ferromagnetic domains inside the paramagnetic matrix has been estimated as ∼12 Å.  相似文献

Double perovskite Sr2FeMoO6 powders with small crystallite size have been synthesised with citrate-gel method. The starting solution pH was varied between 1.5 and 9.0 resulting in large differences in the phase composition and ordering of B/B sites. The samples prepared at 975 °C had crystallite sizes under 40 nm whereas crystallite sizes of the samples prepared at 1050 °C were between 78 and 239 nm. The XRD patterns were refined with spacegroup I 4/m, which gave good results for both batches, although clearly better results were obtained with monoclinic P 21/n spacegroup for the 975 °C batch. The ordering and the saturation magnetization agreed well with each other after treatment at 1050 °C, but the samples prepared at 975 °C had a strongly reduced saturation magnetization from that given by the ordering.  相似文献

Na concentration (x) dependence of ferrimagnetic properties is investigated for Na-K alloy clusters incorporated in low-silica X (LSX) zeolite. In the LSX zeolite, β-cages of inner diameter ≈7 Å are arranged in a diamond structure, and supercages of inner diameter ≈13 Å are formed among them. The used LSX zeolite contains xNa+ and (12−x)K+ cations per β-cage or supercage. Guest nK atoms are loaded into the zeolite, namely the loading density is given by n per β-cage. The samples at x=4 have been reported to show Néel’s N-type ferrimagnetism in the specific region of n. This ferrimagnetism is explained by the model of antiferromagnetic coupling between two non-equivalent magnetic sublattices of clusters, the ones in β-cages and the others in supercages. In the present study, the value of x is changed from 4 to 0. Ferrimagnetic properties are found to show strong x-dependence. A systematic increase in loading densities of ferrimagnetic region is clearly observed with decreasing x. A remarkable change in temperature dependence of spontaneous magnetization is observed depending on x. Na+ cations are known to be mainly distributed in β-cages. Hence, the decrease in Na concentration is proposed to change the electronic potential depth for clusters in β-cage, which leads to important differences in the interaction between electrons localized in β-cages and those in supercages.  相似文献

Gold-coated nanoparticles of Fe20Ni80 (permalloy) have been synthesized by a microemulsion process. The as-prepared samples consist of ∼5 nm diameter particles of amorphous Fe20Ni80 that are likely encapsulated in B2O3. One or more Fe20Ni80@B2O3 particles are subsequently encapsulated in 8-20 nm gold nanospheres, as determined by TEM and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) line broadening. The gold shells were found to be under expansive strain. Magnetic data confirm the existence of a superparamagnetic phase with a blocking temperature, TB, of ∼33 K. The saturation magnetization, MS, of the as-prepared, Au-coated sample is ∼65 emu g−1 at 5 K and ∼16 emu g−1 at 300 K. The coercivity, HC, is ∼280 Oe at 5 K.  相似文献

Magnetoresistance (MR) of oriented single crystals of the anisotropic semiconductor p-CdSb doped with 2 at% of Ni is investigated between T=1.5 and 300 K in transversal pulsed magnetic fields up to B=30 T. In fields B∼4-15 T at T below 4.2 K, the resistivity obeys the law ln ρη[B?(B)]1/2 with ?(B)=a(0)/a(B), where a is the carrier localization radius and parameter η depends on a(0), on the acceptor concentration NA and on the direction of the magnetic field with respect to the crystallographic axes, but does not depend on T. Such behavior gives evidence for MR realized by hopping charge transfer over the nearest-neighbor sites in strong magnetic field. The analysis of the experimental data yields the values of η, agreeing with calculated ones within an error of 10%, taking into account the effects of the anisotropy of the acceptor states and of the explicit dependence of a(B) due to the increase in the activation energy of shallow acceptors in magnetic field and the sensitivity of the metal-insulator transition to B.  相似文献

Phase transition from anatase to rutile for the 70 nm TiO2 crystallite has been investigated by the time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) technique. The study involved the annealing of the TiO2 nanocrystals, adsorbed with the nuclear probe (181Hf/181Ta) at trace level, at different temperatures for different durations. The TDPAC measurement was also supported by XRD measurement where the width of the peaks increases with the increase in annealing temperature indicating a crystal growth. The samples annealed up to 823 K for 4 h showed no phase transition, except for the growth of the crystallites. However, it showed phase transition at the same temperature (823 K), when annealed for longer duration, indicating the slower kinetics of the phase transition process. Further the sample, when annealed at 1123 K for 4 h, showed phase transition. It has also been observed that the 181Hf tracer, adsorbed on 70 nm anatase TiO2, diffuses from surface to bulk during the phase transition process and the extent of diffusion in anatase differs from that in rutile phase. However, surface to bulk mass-transfer is found to play a significant role in the phase transition process.  相似文献

Structural, magnetic, heat capacity, electrical and thermal transport properties are reported on polycrystalline Ba8Ni6Ge40. Ba8Ni6Ge40 crystallizes in a cubic type I clathrate structure with unit cell a=10.5179 (4) Å. It is diamagnetic with susceptibility χdia=−1.71×10-6 emu/g Oe. An Einstein temperature 75 K and a Debye temperature 307 K are estimated from heat capacity data. It exhibits n-type conducting behavior below 300 K. It shows high Seebeck coefficients (−111×10-6 V/K), low thermal conductivity (2.25 W/K m), and low electrical resistivity (8.8 mΩ cm) at 300 K.  相似文献

Experimental data from a sample of 42 cores made from grain oriented 0.27 mm thick 3% SiFe electrical steel with dimensions ranging from 35 to 160 mm outer diameter, 25-100 mm inner diameter and 10-70 mm strip width and a flux density range 0.2-1.7 T have been obtained at 50 Hz and used as training data to a feed forward neural network. An analytical equation for prediction of power loss as depends on input parameters from the results of sensitivity analysis has been obtained. The calculated power losses with the analytical expression have also been compared with power loss obtained from the Preisach model after it has been applied to toroidal cores. The results show the proposed model can be used for estimation of power losses in the toroidal cores.  相似文献
