Acid‐catalyzed disproportionation of cyclic nitroxyl radicals R2NO? includes the half‐reactions of their oxidation to oxoammonium cations R2NO+ and reduction to hydroxylamines R2NOH. For many nitroxyl radicals, this reaction is characterized by its ~100% reversibility. Quantitative characteristics of acid–base and redox properties of the whole redox triad may be obtained from research of kinetics and equilibrium of this reaction. Here, we have examined the kinetics for the disproportionation of twenty piperidine‐, pyrroline‐, pyrrolidine‐, and imidazoline nitroxyl radicals in aqueous H2SO4, and interpreted it in terms of the excess acidity function X. The rate‐limiting step of this reaction is R2NO? oxidation by its protonated counterpart R2NOH+?. Kinetic stability of R2NO? in acidic media depends on the basicity of nitroxyl group. This basicity is influenced predominantly by protonation of another, more basic group in radical structure, and its proximity to nitroxyl group. The discovered estimates of pK values for radical cations R2NOH+? (from ?5.8 to ?12.0) indicate a very low basicity of nitroxyl groups in all commonly used R2NO?. For the first time, a linear correlation is obtained between the one‐electron reduction potentials of oxoammonium cations and the basicity of nitroxyl groups of related radicals. Kinetics and equilibrium of the acid‐catalyzed disproportionation of cyclic nitroxyl radicals R2NO? to oxoammonium cations R2NO+ and hydroxylamines R2NOH is defined by redox and acid–base properties of these compounds. In a recent work (J. Phys. Org. Chem. 2014, 27, 114‐120), we showed that the kinetic stability of R2NO? in acidic media depends on the basicity of the nitroxyl group. Here, we examined the kinetics of the reverse comproportionation reaction of R2NO+ and R2NOH to R2NO? and found that increasing in –I‐effects of substituents greatly reduces the overall equilibrium constant of the reaction K4. This occurs because of both the increase of acidity constants of hydroxyammonium cations K3H+ and the difference between the reduction potentials of oxoammonium cations ER2NO+/R2NO? and nitroxyl radicals ER2NO?/R2NOH. pH dependences of reduction potentials of nitroxyl radicals to hydroxylamines E1/3Σ and bond dissociation energies D(O–H) for hydroxylamines R2NOH in water were determined. For a wide variety of piperidine‐ and pyrrolidine‐1‐oxyls values of pK3H+ and ER2NO+/R2NO? correlate with each other, as well as with the equilibrium constants K4 and the inductive substituent constants σI. The correlations obtained allow prediction of the acid–base and redox characteristics of redox triads R2NO?–R2NO+–R2NOH. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A homogeneous, molecular, gas‐phase elimination kinetics of 2‐phenyl‐2‐propanol and 3‐methyl‐1‐ buten‐3‐ol catalyzed by hydrogen chloride in the temperature range 325–386 °C and pressure range 34–149 torr are described. The rate coefficients are given by the following Arrhenius equations: for 2‐phenyl‐2‐propanol log k1 (s?1) = (11.01 ± 0.31) ? (109.5 ± 2.8) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1 and for 3‐methyl‐1‐buten‐3‐ol log k1 (s?1) = (11.50 ± 0.18) ? (116.5 ± 1.4) kJ mol?1 (2.303 RT)?1. Electron delocalization of the CH2?CH and C6H5 appears to be an important effect in the rate enhancement of acid catalyzed tertiary alcohols in the gas phase. A concerted six‐member cyclic transition state type of mechanism appears to be, as described before, a rational interpretation for the dehydration process of these substrates. Solvent, temperature, and high pressure influence on the rate constant of homo‐Diels–Alder cycloaddition reactions of the very active hetero‐dienophile, 4‐phenyl‐1,2,4‐triazolin‐3,5‐dione (1), with the very inactive unconjugated diene, bicyclo[2,2,1]hepta‐2,5‐diene (2), and of 1 with some substituted anthracenes have been studied. The rate constants change amounts to about seven orders of magnitude: from 3.95.10?3 for reaction (1+2) to 12200 L mol?1 s?1 for reaction of 1 with 9,10‐dimethylanthracene (4e) in toluene solution at 298 K. A comparison of the reactivity (ln k2) and the heat of reactions (?r‐nH) of maleic anhydride, tetracyanoethylene and of 1 with several dienes has been performed. The heat of reaction (1+2) is ?218 ± 2 kJ mol?1, of 1 with 9,10‐dimethylanthracene ?117.8 ± 0.7 kJ mol?1, and of 1 with 9,10‐dimethoxyanthracene ?91.6 ±0.2 kJ mol?1. From these data, it follows that the exothermicity of reaction (1+2) is higher than that with 1,3‐butadiene. However, the heat of reaction of 9,10‐dimethylanthracene with 1 (?117.8 kJ mol?1) is nearly the same as that found for the reaction with the structural C=C counterpart, N‐phenylmaleimide (?117.0 kJ mol?1). Since the energy of the N=N bond is considerably lower (418 kJ/bond) than that of the C=C bond (611 kJ/bond), it was proposed that this difference in the bond energy can generate a lower barrier of activation in the Diels–Alder cycloaddition reaction with 1. Linear correlation (R = 0.94) of the solvent effect on the rate constants of reaction (1+2) and on the heat of solution of 1 has been observed. The ratio of the volume of activation (?V) and the volume of reaction (?Vr‐n) of the homo‐Diels–Alder reaction (1+2) is considered as “normal”: ?V/?Vr‐n = ?25.1/?30.95 = 0.81. An earlier study fit calculated dynamic 13C‐NMR spectra in trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) (with added sulfuric acid) to slow exchange between N‐protonated and O‐protonated tautomers of 1‐azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonan‐2‐one. The present study reports simultaneous observation of both carbonyl 13C peaks in 40% sulfuric acid/60% TFA at ?40 °C. This furnishes the only example in which experimental carbonyl 13C chemical shifts may be compared with a neutral lactam (in TFA or CDCl3) with its N‐protonated and O‐protonated derivatives. The seemingly anomalous upfield chemical shifts (experimental and computational) of the 13C carbonyl peaks in this N‐protonated lactam (and other twisted N‐protonated lactams) relative to the free bases are compared with data for unstrained protonated lactams and amides. The results are rationalized through conventional resonance structures. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The study of an isomeric A / B mixture of the title oxime 1 , by photolytic or thermal E,Z‐isomerization and NMR measurement including 1H{1H}‐NOE difference spectra, led to assignment of the E configuration to its predominating form A . The 1H/13C data were interpreted in terms of steric overcrowding of both forms, especially of the thermolabile photoproduct B . Four classical (empirical) NMR methods of elucidating the oxime geometry were critically tested on these results. Unexpected vapor‐phase photoconversion A → B in the window glass‐filtered solar UV and spectroscopic findings on their protonated states were discussed, as well. The kinetically controlled formation of the N‐protonated species (Z)‐ 5 + was proved experimentally. In addition, some 1H NMR assignments reported for structurally similar systems were rationalized ( 3 and 4 ) or revised ( 1 and 7–9 ) with the GIAO‐DFT(B3LYP) and/or GIAO‐HF calculational results. Relative kinetics of the reactions of OH radicals and Cl atoms with 3‐chloro‐2‐methyl‐1‐propene has been studied for the first time at 298 K and 1 atm by GC‐FID. Rate coefficients are found to be (in cm3 molecule?1 s?1): k1 (OH + CH2 = C(CH3)CH2Cl) = (3.23 ± 0.35) × 10?11, k2 (Cl + CH2 = C(CH3)CH2Cl) = (2.10 ± 0.78) × 10?10 with uncertainties representing ± 2σ. Product identification under atmospheric conditions was performed by solid phase microextraction/GC‐MS for OH reaction. Chloropropanone was identified as the main degradation product in accordance with the decomposition of the 1,2‐hydroxy alcoxy radical formed. Additionally, reactivity trends and atmospheric implications are discussed. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Based on energetic compound [1,2,5]‐oxadiazolo‐[3,4‐d]‐pyridazine, a series of functionalized derivatives were designed and first reported. Afterwards, the relationship between their structure and performance was systematically explored by density functional theory at B3LYP/6‐311 g (d, p) level. Results show that the bond dissociation energies of the weakest bond (N–O bond) vary from 157.530 to 189.411 kJ · mol?1. The bond dissociation energies of these compounds are superior to that of HMX (N–NO2, 154.905 kJ · mol?1). In addition, H1, H2, H4, I2, I3, C1, C2, and D1 possess high density (1.818–1.997 g · cm?3) and good detonation performance (detonation velocities, 8.29–9.46 km · s?1; detonation pressures, 30.87–42.12 GPa), which may be potential explosives compared with RDX (8.81 km · s?1, 34.47 GPa ) and HMX (9.19 km · s?1, 38.45 GPa). Finally, allowing for the explosive performance and molecular stability, three compounds may be suggested as good potential candidates for high‐energy density materials. The gas‐phase elimination kinetics of the title compounds were carried out in a static reaction system and seasoned with allyl bromide. The working temperature and pressure ranges were 200–280 °C and 22–201.5 Torr, respectively. The reactions are homogeneous, unimolecular, and follow a first‐order rate law. These substrates produce isobutene and corresponding carbamic acid in the rate‐determining step. The unstable carbamic acid intermediate rapidly decarboxylates through a four‐membered cyclic transition state (TS) to give the corresponding organic nitrogen compound. The temperature dependence of the rate coefficients is expressed by the following Arrhenius equations: for tert‐butyl carbamate logk1 (s?1) = (13.02 ± 0.46) – (161.6 ± 4.7) kJ/mol(2.303 RT)?1, for tert‐butyl N‐hydroxycarbamate logk1 (s?1) = (12.52 ± 0.11) – (147.8 ± 1.1) kJ/mol(2.303 RT)?1, and for 1‐(tert‐butoxycarbonyl)‐imidazole logk1 (s?1) = (11.63 ± 0.21)–(134.9 ± 2.0) kJ/mol(2.303 RT)?1. Theoretical studies of these elimination were performed at Møller–Plesset MP2/6‐31G and DFT B3LYP/6‐31G(d), B3LYP/6‐31G(d,p) levels of theory. The calculated bond orders, NBO charges, and synchronicity (Sy) indicate that these reactions are concerted, slightly asynchronous, and proceed through a six‐membered cyclic TS type. Results for estimated kinetic and thermodynamic parameters are discussed in terms of the proposed reaction mechanism and TS structure. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The calculated and experimental Raman spectra of the (EMI+)TFSI ionic liquid, where EMI+ is the 1‐ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium cation and TFSI the bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide anion, have been investigated for a better understanding of the EMI+ and TFSI conformational isomerism as a function of temperature. Characteristic Raman lines of the planar (p) and non‐planar (np) EMI+ conformers are identified using the reference (EMI+)Br salt. The anion conformer of C2 symmetry is confirmed to be more stable than the cis (C1) one by 4.5 ± 0.2 kJ mol−1. At room temperature, the population of trans (C2) anions and np cations is 75 ± 2% and 87 ± 4%, respectively. Fast cooling quenches a metastable glassy phase composed of mainly C2 anion conformers and p cation conformers, whereas slow cooling gives a crystalline phase composed of C1 anion conformers and of np cation conformers. The ―NH2, ―NO2, ―NHNO2, ―C(NO2)3 and ―CF(NO2)2 substitution derivatives of 4,4′,5,5′‐tetranitro‐2,2′‐1H,1′H‐2,2′‐biimidazole were studied at B3LYP/aug‐cc‐pVDZ level of density functional theory. The crystal structures were obtained by molecular mechanics (MM) methods. Detonation properties were evaluated using Kamlet–Jacobs equations based on the calculated density and heat of formation. The thermal stability of the title compounds was investigated via the energy gaps (?ELUMO ? HOMO) predicted. Results show that molecules T5 (D = 10.85 km·s?1, P = 57.94 GPa) and T6 (D = 9.22 km·s?1, P = 39.21 GPa) with zero or positive oxygen balance are excellent candidates for high energy density oxidizers (HEDOs). All of them appear to be potential explosives compared with the famous ones, octahydro‐1,3,5,7‐tetranitro‐1,3,5,7‐tetraazocane (HMX, D = 8.96 km·s?1, P = 35.96 GPa) and hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane (CL‐20, D = 9.38 km·s?1, P = 42.00 GPa). In addition, bond dissociation energy calculation indicates that T5 and T6 are also the most thermally stable ones among the title compounds. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Theoretical design on a new molecular switch and fluorescent chemosensor double functional device of aza‐crown ether (2,2′‐dipyridine‐embedded N‐(9‐anthraceneyl(pyrenyl)methyl)aza‐15‐crown‐5) was explored. The interactions between ligands and a series of alkaline earth metal cations (Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+, and Ba2+) were investigated. The fully optimized geometry structures of the free ligands ( L 1, L 2) and their metal cation complexes ( L 1/M2+, L 2/M2+) were calculated with the B3LYP/6‐31G(d) method. The natural bond orbital analysis, which is based on optimized geometric structures, was used to explore the interaction of L 1/M2+, L 2/M2+ molecules. The absorption spectra of L 1, L 2, L 1/M2+, and L 2/M2+, and their excited states were studied by time‐dependent density functional theory. A new type molecular device L 2(2,2′‐dipyridine‐embedded N‐(9‐pyrenyl methyl)aza‐15‐crown‐5) is designed, which not only has the selectivity for Sr2+, and construct allosteric switch, but also has fluorescent sensor performance.  相似文献

The values of the enthalpy (53.3; 51.3; 20.0 kJ mol?1), entropy (?106; ?122; ?144 J mol?1K?1), and volume of activation (?29.1; ?31.0; ?cm3 mol?1), the reaction volume (?25.0; ?26.6; ?cm3 mol?1) and reaction enthalpy (?155.9; ?158.2; ?150.2 kJ mol?1) have been obtained for the first time for the ene reactions of 4‐phenyl‐1,2,4‐triazoline‐3,5‐dione 1 , with cyclohexene 4 , 1‐hexene 6 , and with 2,3‐dimethyl‐2‐butene 8 , respectively. The ratio of the values of the activation volume to the reaction volume (?VcorrVr ? n) in the ene reactions under study, 1 + 4 → 5 and 1 + 6 → 7 , appeared to be the same, namely 1.16. The large negative values of the entropy and the volume of activation of studied reactions 1 + 4 → 5 and 1 + 6 → 7 better correspond to the cyclic structure of the activated complex at the stage determining the reaction rate. The equilibrium constants of these ene reactions can be estimated as exceeding 1018 L mol?1, and these reactions can be considered irreversible. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Reactions of ·OH/O .? radicals and H‐atoms as well as specific oxidants such as Cl2.? and N3· radicals have been studied with 2‐ and 3‐hydroxybenzyl alcohols (2‐ and 3‐HBA) at various pH using pulse radiolysis technique. At pH 6.8, ·OH radicals were found to react quite fast with both the HBAs (k = 7.8 × 109 dm3 mol?1 s?1 with 2‐HBA and 2 × 109 dm3 mol?1 s?1 with 3‐HBA) mainly by adduct formation and to a minor extent by H‐abstraction from ? CH2OH groups. ·OH‐(HBA) adduct were found to undergo decay to give phenoxyl type radicals in a pH dependent way and it was also very much dependent on buffer‐ion concentrations. It was seen that ·OH‐(2‐HBA) and ·OH‐(3‐HBA) adducts react with HPO42? ions (k = 2.1 × 107 and 2.8 × 107 dm3 mol?1 s?1 at pH 6.8, respectively) giving the phenoxyl type radicals of HBAs. At the same time, this reaction is very much hindered in the presence of H2PO ions indicating the role of phosphate ion concentration in determining the reaction pathway of ·OH adduct decay to final stable product. In the acidic region adducts were found to react with H+ ions. At pH 1, reaction of ·OH radicals with HBAs gave exclusively phenoxyl type radicals. Proportion of the reducing radicals formed by H‐abstraction pathway in ·OH/O .? reactions with HBAs was determined following electron transfer to methyl viologen. H‐atom abstraction is the major pathway in O .? reaction with HBAs compared to ·OH radical reaction. H‐atom reaction with 2‐ and 3‐HBA gave transient species which were found to transfer electron to methyl viologen quantitatively. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

syn‐2,2,4,4‐Tetramethyl‐3‐{2‐[3,4‐alkylenedioxy‐5‐(3‐pyridyl)]thienyl}pentan‐3‐ols self‐associate both in the solid state and in solution. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction study of the 3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) derivative shows that it exists as a centrosymmetric head‐to‐tail, syn dimer in the solid state. The IR spectra of the solids display only a broad OH absorption around 3300 cm?1, corresponding to a hydrogen‐bonded species. 1H Nuclear Overhauser Effect Spectroscopy (NOESY) NMR experiments in benzene reveal interactions between the tert‐butyl groups and the H2 and H6 protons of the pyridyl group. Two approaches have been used to determine association constants of the EDOT derivative by NMR titration, based on the concentration dependence of (i) the syn/anti ratio and (ii) the OH proton shift of the syn rotamer. Reasonably concordant results are obtained from 298 to 323 K (3.6 and 3.9 M?1, respectively, at 298 K). Similar values are obtained from the syn OH proton shift variation for the 3,4‐methylenedioxythiophene (MDOT) derivative. Concentration‐dependent variation of the anti OH proton shift in the latter suggests that the anti isomer associates in the form of an open, singly hydrogen‐bonded dimer, with a much smaller association constant than the syn rotamer. Self‐association constants for 3‐pyridyl‐EDOT‐alkanols with smaller substituents vary by a factor of 4 from (i‐Pr)2 up to (CD3)2, while the hetero‐association constants for the same compounds with pyridine vary slightly less. The first conformational analysis of 3‐silathiane and its C‐substituted derivatives, namely, 3,3‐dimethyl‐3‐silathiane 1 , 2,3,3‐trimethyl‐3‐silathiane 2 , and 2‐trimethylsilyl‐3,3‐dimethyl‐3‐silathiane 3 was performed by using dynamic NMR spectroscopy and B3LYP/6‐311G(d,p) quantum chemical calculations. From coalescence temperatures, ring inversion barriers ΔG for 1 and 2 were estimated to be 6.3 and 6.8 kcal/mol, respectively. These values are considerably lower than that of thiacyclohexane (9.4 kcal/mol) but slightly higher than the one of 1,1‐dimethylsilacyclohexane (5.5 kcal/mol). The conformational free energy for the methyl group in 2 (?ΔG° = 0.35 kcal/mol) derived from low‐temperature 13C NMR data is fairly consistent with the calculated value. For compound 2 , theoretical calculations give ΔE value close to zero for the equilibrium between the 2 ‐Meax and 2 ‐Meeq conformers. The calculated equatorial preference of the trimethylsilyl group in 3 is much more pronounced (?ΔG° = 1.8 kcal/mol) and the predominance of the 3 ‐SiMe3 eq conformer at room temperature was confirmed by the simulated 1H NMR and 2D NOESY spectra. The effect of the 2‐substituent on the structural parameters of 2 and 3 is discussed. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The components of the third‐order nonlinear optical susceptibility χ(3) for the 1002‐cm–1 mode of neat benzenethiol have been measured using coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering with continuous‐wave diode pump and Stokes lasers at 785.0 and 852.0 nm, respectively. Values of 2.8 ± 0.3 × 10–12, 2.0 ± 0.2 × 10–12, and 0.8 ± 0.1 × 10–12 cm·g–1·s2 were measured for the xxxx, xxyy, and xyyx components of |3χ(3)|, respectively. We have calculated these quantities using a microscopic model, reproducing the same qualitative trend. The Raman cross‐section σRS for the 1002‐cm–1 mode of neat benzenethiol has been determined to be 3.1 ± 0.6 × 10–29 cm2 per molecule. The polarization of the anti‐Stokes Raman scattering was found to be parallel to that of the pump laser, which implies negligible depolarization. The Raman linewidth (full‐width at half‐maximum) Γ was determined to be 2.4 ± 0.3 cm–1 using normal Stokes Raman scattering. The measured values of σRS and Γ yield a value of 2.1 ± 0.4 × 10–12 cm·g–1·s2 for the resonant component of 3χ(3). A value of 1.9 ± 0.9 × 10–12 cm·g–1·s2 has been deduced for the nonresonant component of 3χ(3). Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Anionic species formed in mixtures of 1‐n‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium chloride (BMICl) with different amounts of niobium pentachloride (NbCl5) or zinc dichloride (ZnCl2) were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. In the BMICl and NbCl5 ionic mixtures the presence of the anion NbCl6 was detected for all compositions (molar fraction, X) and a mixture of this anion and the neutral Nb2Cl10 in acid ones. Two different anions were observed for basic mixtures of BMICl and ZnCl2: ZnCl42−(0 < X < 0.35) and Zn2Cl62−(X > 0.3), whereas for acidic ones three species were detected: Zn2Cl62−(X < 0.7), Zn3Cl82−(X > 0.7) and Zn4Cl102−(X > 0.7). It has also been observed that in both cases, the formation of larger anions causes a shift of the C H stretching modes to higher wavenumbers as the result of a decrease in the hydrogen bond between Cl and the hydrogens from the cation. Ethyl 2‐amino‐4,5,6,7‐tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene‐3‐carboxylate [C11H15NO2S] was synthesized by the Gewald method. Its single crystals were grown from an alcohol/ethyl acetate solution at 15 °C and characterized using IR and 1H‐NMR. These single crystals were irradiated for 72 h at 298 K by a 60Co gamma source with a dose speed of 0.864 kGy/h. After irradiation, electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements were carried out to study radiation‐induced radicals in the temperature range from 120 to 450 K. Additionally, for the single crystal, ESR angular dependencies were measured in the xy, xz and yz planes of the substance. This irradiated single crystal was analyzed based on the ESR spectra. Analysis of the spectra revealed that the radical was formed by a C–H bond fission at the carbon end of the substance. It was also observed that the color of the sample changed after irradiation. The hyperfine and g parameters were determined from the experimental spectra. It was inferred from these results that the hyperfine parameters and g value exhibited anisotropic behavior. The average values of these parameters were calculated as follows: g = 2.0088, AH1=H2 = 20.70 G, AH3=H4 = 10.80 G, AHa = 4.59 G, AHb = 3.24 G and, AN = 6.10 G. 4,4‐Dimethyl‐1‐(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)‐1,4‐azasilinane 1 and 2,2,6,6‐tetramethyl‐4‐(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)‐1,4,2,6‐oxazadisilinane 2 were studied by variable temperature dynamic 1H, 13C, 19F NMR spectroscopy and theoretical calculations at the DFT (density functional theory) and MP2 (Møller‐Plesset 2) levels of theory. Both kinetic (barriers to ring inversion) and thermodynamic data (frozen conformational equilibria) could be obtained for the two compounds. The computations revealed two minima on the potential energy surface for molecules 1 and 2 corresponding to the rotamers with the CF3SO2 group directed ‘inward’ and ‘outward’ the ring, the latter being 0.2–0.4 kcal/mol (for 1 ) and 1.1 kcal/mol (for 2 ) more stable than the former. The vibrational calculations at the DFT and MP2 levels of theory give the values of the free energy difference ΔGo for the ‘inward’ ‘outward’ equilibrium consistent with those determined from the experimentally measured ratio of the rotamers. The structure of crystalline compound 2 was ascertained by X‐ray diffraction analysis. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
