A facile approach to soluble star-shaped oligothiophene-functionalized polycyclic aromatics based on truxene is developed in this Communication. The Suzuki coupling reactions afford the thiophene-containing polycyclic aromatics with long branches (about 2.1 nm length from the heart to the periphery) from truxene precursor with excellent yields. The unsubstituted alpha-positions of thiophene rings allow for efficient halogenation and for further functionalization. The investigation of proton NMR spectra indicates that the hexahexyl groups efficiently prevent the self-association through the arene-arene pi-stacking. Chemical shifts belonging to methylene groups move more upfield than do those of methyl groups. These chemical shift values (about 0.5-0.6 ppm) are quite lower than those of normal methyl and methylene groups. We also prepare a dendritic hyperbranched polymer P1 through FeCl3 mediated oxidative polymerizations. The photophysical properties of all compounds possessing good symmetry are investigated by UV-vis and emission measurement. 相似文献

Summary The silica-supported comb-shaped polymer (Sil-ODA18) with a “crystalline-to-isotropic” phase transition showed the characteristic behaviors of both polymeric and monomeric ODS
phases. This was examined using a SRM 869 test mixture. Furthermore, Sil-ODA18 exhibited a specific selectivity towards the critical pairs of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), such as acenaphthene
and fluorene, or benz(a)anthracene and chrysene, or benzo(ghi)perylene, indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene and dibenz(a,h)anthracene.
The separation of these solutes was controlled by selecting temperature and solvent systems. The selectivity on Sil-ODA18 was also compared with a conventional ODS (octadecylsilyl silica gel) column. The selectivity on a Sil-ODA18 matrix is attributable to an orientation change of the long-chain alkyl substituents on the surface of the silica base material

According to the KEMI report, products with polycyclic aromatic compounds, PCA, levels exceeding 3% by weight must be labelled. The report pointed out that worn tyre tread material was being spread on the roadsides, introducing high amounts of PCA into the environment. PCA is having toxic effects on aquatic organisms. Polyaromatic-hydrocarbon-rich extender oils are to be banned by December 2009, which gives rise to challenges for the oil and rubber industries. In the present work, 10 types of naturally occurring oils and six types of petroleum-based oils were characterised in natural-rubber-based truck tyre tread cap compound. Compounds made with some of the naturally occurring oils showed better mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties. 相似文献

[structure: see text] A synthetic protocol for a novel family of symmetric polycyclic aromatics with a benzene or cyclooctatetraene (COT) ring as the core and alternant fused benzene and cyclopentadiene rings as branches has been developed. The TiCl(4)-promoted cyclizations construct both planar trimers and tubelike tetramers via the "in situ" generation of the benzene or COT skeleton. The structures of 6b, 7a, 7b, and 10 have been characterized by (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra and MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopy. Summary The retention behaviour of a group of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons having nearly equal ionization potentials but different molecular polarizability values was investigated using reversed-phase HPLC. Methanol-water binary systems containing -cyclodextrin were applied as the mobile phase. In this work, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) was grafted onto amine treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (NH-MWNTs) and the physical and rheological properties of the NH-MWNTs–g-PMMA nanocomposites were investigated. The graft reaction of NH-MWNTs and the PMMA matrix was confirmed from the change of the N1S peaks, including those of amine oxygen and amide oxygen, by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The thermal and mechanical properties of the NH-MWNT–g-PMMA nanocomposites were enhanced by the graft reaction between NH-MWNTs and PMMA matrix. In addition, the viscosity of the nanocomposites was increased with the addition of NH-MWNTs. Storage (G′) and loss modulus (G″) were significantly increased by increase in the NH-MWNT content compared to acid-treated MWNTs/PMMA nanocomposites. This increase was attributed to the strong interaction by the grafting reaction between NH-MWNTs and the PMMA matrix. 相似文献

In this study, a series of comparative studies for the effect of intercalating agent on the physical properties of the epoxy resin-clay based nanocomposite materials were performed. First, the quaternary alkylphosphonium and alkylammonium salt were both used as the intercalating agents separately for the preparation of organophilic clay through the cationic exchange reactions with Na+-montmorillonite clay. Subsequently, the organophilic clay was blent into the epoxy resin through in-situ thermal ring-opening polymerizations to prepare a series of polymer-clay nanocomposite (PCN) materials. The as-synthesized PCN materials were subsequently characterized by Fourier-Transformation infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, wide-angle powder X-ray diffraction (WXRD), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).It should be noted that the quaternary alkylphosphonium salt (Φ3P+-C12)-modified clay was found to show better dispersion capability than that of quaternary alkylammonium salt (Me3N+-C16)-modified clay existed in the polymer matrix based on the studies of WXRD and TEM. The better dispersion of (Φ3P+-C12)-modified clay in epoxy resin was found to lead more effectively enhanced physical property such as corrosion protection, gas barrier, mechanical strength, thermal stability, and flame retardant properties of polymers than that of (Me3N+-C16)-modified clay, in the form of coating and membrane, based on the measurements of a series of electrochemical corrosion parameters, gas permeability analysis (GPA), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and limiting oxygen index (LOI), respectively. Novel polycyclic aromatic compounds (FBTPhO3 and FBTPhO4), which are based on bis(benzothiophene)-fused fluorene functionalized with oligo(ethylene glycol)-substituted phenyl, were synthesized through an intramolecular electrophilic cyclizing reaction. Thermal measurements revealed their excellent thermal stability and amorphous state. Photoluminescence spectra suggested that they both show deep blue light emission. Cyclic voltammetry tests exhibited that the ionization potentials of FBTPhO3 and FBTPhO4 are 5.67 and 5.68 eV, respectively, implying their good inoxidizability. These compounds may be promising building blocks for high-performance optoelectronic functional materials. 相似文献

Recently, gel content has been considered as a standard property for evaluating commercial grade natural rubber (NR). In this study, NR containing various amounts of gel was prepared by accelerated storage hardening as a model to clarify the influence of gel content on the physical properties of both unfilled and carbon black filled vulcanizates. Furthermore, the NR samples were investigated to determine the effect of gel fraction on Mooney viscosity and the structure of the gel after mastication. The results revealed that Mooney viscosity was related to the percentage of gel fraction that has been proven to be the result of interactions between proteins and phospholipids at chain ends. After mastication, although the gel fraction of NR can be decomposed to ∼0% w/w, the interactions of proteins and phospholipids at the chain ends still existed, corresponding to the gel content of the raw rubber. In the case of unfilled vulcanizates, the gel content showed no effect on cure characteristics, crosslink density and ultimate tensile strength, whereas the upturn of stress occurred at a smaller strain when the gel content increased. However, in the case of carbon black filled vulcanizates, the gel content played a dominant role in the carbon black dispersion, which was poorer when gel content increased, contributing to a decrease of crosslink density and ultimate tensile strength. 相似文献

Mesoionic pyrimidinium-olate derivatives have been known to undergo photoreactions upon irradiation with UV light to form bis(beta-lactame) structures for about two decades. Here, new mono-, poly- and macrocyclic mesoions were prepared and their photochemical rearrangement behavior was investigated. The synthesized compounds were characterized by NMR, IR, UV/Vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis and mass spectrometry. The extension of the aromatic core leads to a significant red-shift of the absorption maximum from ∼380 to ∼430 nm, indicating a strong electronic coupling of the mesoionic base chromophore with the annellated aromatic subunit. The rigidity of the extended aromatic system prevents polycyclic mesoions from shifting to their bis(beta-lactame) isomers, while the alkyl bridge of the 16-membered macrocycle in an ansa-mesoion does not inhibit photochemical rearrangement. 相似文献

Poly(dithiotriethylene terephthalate) (PSSTET), poly(dithiotriethylene adipate) (PSSTEA), poly(triethylene terephthalate) (PTET) and poly(triethylene adipate) (PTEA), these two last for comparison, were synthesized and characterized in terms of chemical structure and molecular weight. The thermal behaviour was examined by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. All the polymers showed a good thermal stability, even though lower for the sulphur-containing polyesters. At room temperature they appeared as semicrystalline materials, except PTEA, which was an oil; the effect of substitution of ether oxygen atoms with sulphur ones was found to be a lowering in the Tg value, an increment of the melting temperature and an increase of the crystallization rate. The results were explained as due to the presence of flexible C-S-C bonds in the polymeric chain. Lastly, the absence of a rigid-amorphous phase was evidenced in PSSTET and PTET. 相似文献

A novel diamine with built-in sulfone, ether, and amide structure was prepared via three-step reactions. Nucleophilic reaction of 4-aminophenol with 4-nitrobenzoyl chloride in the presence of propylene oxide led to preparation of N-(4-hydroxy phenyl)-4-nitrobenzamide (HPNB). The nitro group of this compound was reduced with hydrazine and Pd/C to afford 4-amino-N-(4-hydroxy phenyl)benzamide (AHPB). Two moles of AHPB were reacted with bis-(4-chloro phenyl)sulfone to provide a novel sulfone ether amide diamine (SEAD). All the prepared compounds were characterized by common spectroscopic methods. The prepared diamine (SEAD) used to prepare related polyimides by reaction with different aromatic dianhydrides. The obtained poly(sulfone ether amide imide)s were characterized and their properties were studied. 相似文献

A phosphorus-containing oligomer, bis(3-hydroxyphenyl) phenyl phosphate (BHPP), was synthesized through the reaction of phenyl dichlorophosphate and 1,3-dihydroxybenzene, and characterized by elemental analysis, Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, and 1H NMR and 31P NMR spectroscopy. Consequently, the phosphate-based epoxy resins with a phosphorus content of 1 and 2 wt % were prepared via the reaction of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A with BHPP and bisphenol-A, and were confirmed with Fourier transform IR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. Phenolic melamine, Novolak, and dicyanodiamide were used as curing agents to prepare the thermoset resins with the control and the phosphate-based epoxy resins. Thermal properties and thermal degradation behavior of these thermoset resins were investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis. The thermoset resins cured with phenolic melamine exhibited higher glass-transition temperatures than the other cured resins owing to the high rigidity of their molecular chain. Thermogravimetric analysis studies demonstrated that the decomposition temperatures of the thermoset resins cured with Novolak were higher than those of the others. A synergistic effect from the combination of the phosphate-based epoxy resin and the nitrogen-containing curing agent can result in a great improvement of the flame retardance for their thermoset resins. 相似文献
