The development of irradiation processing industry brings about various types of irradiation objects and expands the irradiation requirements for better uniformity and larger areas. This paper proposes an innovative design of a permanent magnet electron beam spread system. By clarifying its operation principles, the author verifies the feasibility of its application in irradiation accelerators for industrial use with the examples of its application in electron accelerators with energy ranging from 300 keV to 1 MeV. Based on the finite element analyses of electromagnetic fields and the charged particle dynamics, the author also conducts a simulation of electron dynamics in magnetic field on a computer. The results indicate that compared with the traditional electron beam scanning system, this system boosts the advantages of a larger spread area, non-power supply, simple structure and low cost, etc., which means it is not only suitable for the irradiation of objects with the shape of tubes, strips and panels, but can also achieve a desirable irradiation performance on irregular constructed objects of large size.  相似文献

介绍了均方根(RMS)、半高全宽(FWHM)和50%调制传递函数(MTF)等效均匀分布等焦斑尺寸评价方法。针对一台直线感应加速器,通过建立理论模型和开展逐束片PIC模拟研究了长脉冲(约100 ns)电子束的聚焦过程,分析了能量、流强与平顶区差异较大的脉冲上升/下降沿对FWHM和MTF焦斑尺寸的影响。研究结果表明:能散度较大的束流上升/下降沿会导致束流焦斑,尤其是MTF焦斑显著增长,在模拟结果中FWHM尺寸增长约9%,而MTF尺寸增长达到约24%,是目前导致束流底宽偏大的主要因素之一。  相似文献

The motion of the relativistic electron beam in the spatially periodic magnetic field of an undulator has been considered taking into account the effect of the incoherent field of the spontaneous undulator radiation on the motion of the electrons. An expression for the rms momentum of the electrons has been obtained. It has been shown that the momentum spread in the ultrarelativistic electron beam increases in the spontaneous incoherent emission mode. Conditions for the self-amplification of the spontaneous undulator radiation in ultrashort-wavelength free-electron lasers have been discussed.  相似文献

We study theoretically the influence of the spread of initial energies and velocities in the electron beam on the starting conditions and efficiency of a gyrotron. We compare various analytical and numerical models and the results of experimental studies of gyrotrons in which the interaction takes place at the first and second harmonics of the cyclotron frequency. The aftercavity interaction of the electron beam with the high-frequency field in the output waveguide transition is taken into account. The influence of the energy spread on the recuperation efficiency is estimated. An analyzer intended for measuring electron energy in gyrotrons is described. Electron energy spectra are measured in various operating modes of an experimental gyrotron. It is shown that, even when no microwave field is generated, the spread in electron energy due to the space-charge effect can be as high as several percent.  相似文献

能散度是反映束流品质的重要参数,采用传统测量方法测量时打到靶上的束流不能得到利用,测得的数据也是多个宏脉冲的平均值,利用该方法的测量结果进行束流调节时,要等待荧光靶从束流轨道中反复插入和提出,调节时间很长。基于单个四条带束流位置检测器,结合发射度测量的方法,实现了非拦截式能散度测量方法。该方法能在不加入额外设备的情况下对每个束流宏脉冲的能散度进行测量,测量结果与传统的拦截式测量方法结果相吻合。进行了误差分析,指出为了减小测量系统误差,需要尽可能使束流通过束流位置检测器中心。  相似文献

We demonstrate the compression of 95 keV, space-charge-dominated electron bunches to sub-100 fs durations. These bunches have sufficient charge (200 fC) and are of sufficient quality to capture a diffraction pattern with a single shot, which we demonstrate by a diffraction experiment on a polycrystalline gold foil. Compression is realized by means of velocity bunching by inverting the positive space-charge-induced velocity chirp. This inversion is induced by the oscillatory longitudinal electric field of a 3 GHz radio-frequency cavity. The arrival time jitter is measured to be 80 fs.  相似文献

Recent experimental and theoretical works on free electron laser spectral dynamics have pointed out the difficulty to obtain a narrow and stable spectrum operation. This goal can only be achieved by avoiding the sideband generation leading to a broadband and unstable spectrum. Tapered wiggler and two-frequency wiggler are well suited for combining sharp spectrum and high efficiency but are not really compatible with a wide tunability of laser light. Filtering sidebands is a good way for lower power experiments but it seems to be difficult to conceive wideband filters, specially in the far-infrared region. Modulation of electron energy is a new potential soft way for controlling the spectral dynamics of longpulse free electron laser. Spectral dynamics under the modulation is investigated in the linear and non-linear regimes in the far-infrared region. Simulations show that a pulsed and sharp spectrum behavior can be obtained by optimizing the modulation parameters. The interest of such a method for the far-infrared experiments is discussed.  相似文献

An axially symmetric model is used to analytically estimate the longitudinal electric field created in a plasma by an injected electron beam. The relationship can be used to estimate the electron beam energy loss in the range of parameters where theoretical studies rely only on numerical simulations. The results are of interest for creating relativistic electron beams, studying their relaxation in plasma, and developing new methods for charged particle acceleration.  相似文献

针对合肥光源高亮度注入器设计了一种四轴对称八条带电极束流能散检测器(BESM),以实现束流能散的非拦截测量。理论推导了从BESM电信号中提取束流横向尺寸分量的公式。通过对BESM的灵敏度、阻抗匹配、电极的时域频域响应等的分析,确定了BESM的电极张角、半径、长度等各方面的物理参数。通过天线法对BESM进行了位置和四极分量的标定,得到了电中心相对于机械中心的偏移、 BESM的位置灵敏度和四极分量灵敏度等参数。通过对多组电信号和位置信号的处理拟合出了机械位置与对数比电位置信号的相关多项式,并给出了四极分量关于束流横向尺寸、束流中心位置以及它们高次项的经验公式。  相似文献

We observe a pronounced variation of wettability properties in solid state materials induced by a low-energy electron beam. The phenomenon occurs in several stages characterized by various mechanisms. We show that for low electron doses the irradiation leads to decrease in the wetting of a dielectric surface due to induced surface electric potential. The higher electron charge leads to formation of a chemical monolayer on material’s surface. It has been found that the electron irradiation strongly modifies the surface free energy of SiO2 by decreasing its total surface free energy value, almost twice. However, electron-induced variations of dispersive and polar components of the surface free energy are quite different and depend of incident electron charge.  相似文献

Conclusions Thus, our investigation shows that the character of the instability of an electron beam in a waveguide depends significantly on the state of the magnetization of the ferrite. Control of collective properties of relativistic particles is increasingly important in modern accelerators. In particular, shot noise affects accelerator performance by driving instabilities or by competing with coherent processes. We present experimental observations of shot noise suppression in a relativistic beam at the Linac Coherent Light Source. By adjusting the dispersive strength of a chicane, we observe a decrease in the optical transition radiation emitted from a downstream foil. We show agreement between the experimental results, theoretical models, and 3D particle simulations.  相似文献
