An analogy was established between Raman scattering in crystals and the conversion of photons into axions and vice versa. The conditions of light emission observation in experiments such as “Light Shining Through Wall” performed in recent years are analyzed. It is shown that the intensity of secondary light emission resulting from the “conversion-reconversion” process can be significantly increased by employment of the stimulated emission instead of spontaneous one, using intense (∼1012 W/cm2) ultrashort (∼100 ps) laser pulses of the visible (0.5 μm) region as exciting radiation sources.  相似文献

The electroproduction of scalar leptons and gauginos at HERA and at supercollider energies is studied. In particular, the channel epe(→ e + γ)γX is analyzed in full detail. The exa analytic expressions for the cross section and the spectrum of the final electron are derived and evaluated for √s ? 0.15?3 TeV and different values of the scalar electron and photino masses. Since the exact formulae are relatively complicated, simplified expressions in the Weizsäcker-Williams approximation are also given and their accuracy is discussed by comparison with the exact formulae. The standard processes epZ(→ vv)eX and epW(→ ev)vX which also lead to one final electron and two invisible particles are considered in parallel. The corresponding cross sections and distributions are discussed in comparison with the supersymmetric signal. The Z0 cross section is found to be quite smaller than was reported previously. To clarify this point the Z0 production at the leptonic vertex was computed both exactly and in the Weizsäcker-Williams approximation with quite consistent results.  相似文献

The implication of recent electroweak precision data for left-right symmetric models is examined. We establish a lower bound on the charged and neutral right-handed gauge bosons independent of the right-handed neutrino mass and of any restrictions or implied symmetries on the right KM matrix.  相似文献

A model containing the massless photon as well as other massive vector mesons is constructed from a gauge-invariant theory of massless vector mesons with scalars transforming under a mixed linear-non-linear group realization, so that one massive scalar also remains finally. A Georgi-Glashow-type Lagrangian in the unitary gauge can be induced by appropriate choice of non-minimal gauge-invariant interactions in the ancestor Lagrangian. It is thus likely that this ancestor Lagrangian, which is non-polynomial, is also renormalizable.  相似文献

The existence of several generations of quarks and leptons suggests the possibility of a gauge symmetry connecting the different generations. The neutral gauge bosons of such a scheme would mediate rare processes such as KL0μ±, K+π+e?π+, μN→eN and would contribute to ΔM(KS0?KL0). We study these and other processes within a simple theoretical framework and derive bounds involving the masses and coupling constants of the generation-changing gauge bosons and various generation-mixing angles. The lower bounds for the relevant masses lie in the 10–100 TeV region. Various remarks concerning the relevance of these bounds to currently popular theoretical ideas and to future experiments are presented.  相似文献

We consider fermions in theories of higher dimensional gravity where the four-dimensional gauge group is embedded in the invariance group of d dimensional (d>4) Lorentz and general co-ordinate transformations. It is a necessary condition for obtaining massless chiral fermions from dimensional reduction that the d dimensional spinor does not admit a mass term consistent with Lorentz and general co-ordinate transformations. This is the case for a Weyl spinor for d = 6 8 mod 8, a Majorana spinor for d = 9 mod 8 or a Majorana-Weyl spinor for d = 2 mod 8.  相似文献

We consider the bosonic membrane compactified on a torus. The membrane motion is stabilized by a topologically non-trivial background. We find that, in the narrow membrane limit, the mass formula to O(ħ;) reduces to exactly the same form as that of the compactified closed bosonic string theory, and we obtain (almost) massless vector bosons in the adjoint representation of a simply laced Lie group in D = 27. This is only dimension at which the gravitation and gauge bosons may coexist in that background.  相似文献

We derive Feynman rules for gauge theories exhibiting spontaneous symmetry breaking using the real-time formalism of finite temperature field theory. We also derive the thermal propagators where only the physical degrees of freedom are given thermal boundary conditions. We analyse the abelian Higgs model and find that these new propagators simplify the calculation of the thermal contribution to the self energy.  相似文献

New heavy gauge bosons belonging to an extended (in relation to the Standard Model) gauge sector are present in Grand Unified Theories, as well as in a number of models aimed at solving the hierarchy problem—in particular, in the technicolor model and in some versions of multidimensional field theories (for example, in the Little Higgs model).
