We prove that every one dimensional extension of a separably acting normal operator has a cyclic commutant, and that every non-algebraic normal operator has a two-dimensional extension which fails to have a cyclic commutant. Associated with every operatorT on Hilbert space is its Aluthge transform (defined below). In this note we study various connections betweenT and , including relations between various spectra, numerical ranges, and lattices of invariant subspaces. LetH be a complex infinite-dimensional separable Hilbert space. An operatorT inL(H) is called totally P-posinormal (see [9]) iff there is a polynomialP with zero constant term such that for each , whereT z =T–zI andM(z) is bounded on the compacts of C. In this paper we prove that every totally P-posinormal operator is subscalar, i.e. it is the restriction of a generalized scalar operator to an invariant subspace. Further, a list of some important corollaries about Bishop's property and the existence of invariant subspaces is presented.  相似文献

We prove several singular value inequalities and norm inequalities involving sums and direct sums of Hilbert space operators. It is shown, among other inequalities, that if X and Y are compact operators, then the singular values of are dominated by those of X ⊕ Y. Applications of these inequalities are also given.  相似文献

The various essential spectra of a linear operator have been surveyed byB. Gramsch andD. Lay [4]. In this paper we characterize the essential spectra and the related quantities nullity, defect, ascent and descent of bounded spectral operators. It is shown that a number of these spectra coincide in the case of a spectral or a scalar type operator. Some results known for normal operators in Hilbert space are extended to spectral operators in Banach space.  相似文献

It is proved that the operator Lie algebra ε(T,T) generated by a bounded linear operator T on Hilbert space H is finite-dimensional if and only if T=N+Q, N is a normal operator, [N,Q]=0, and dimA(Q,Q)<+∞, where ε(T,T) denotes the smallest Lie algebra containing T,T, and A(Q,Q) denotes the associative subalgebra of B(H) generated by Q,Q. Moreover, we also give a sufficient and necessary condition for operators to generate finite-dimensional semi-simple Lie algebras. Finally, we prove that if ε(T,T) is an ad-compact E-solvable Lie algebra, then T is a normal operator.  相似文献

In this paper, the concept of generalized hermitian operators defined on a complex Hilbert space is introduced. It is shown that the spectrums and the Fredholm fields of generalized hermitian operators are both symmetric with respect to the real axis. The class of -hyponormal operators is introduced. This class contains allp-hyponormal operators. Certain properties of this class of operators are obtained. Among other things, it is shown that ifT is -hyponormal, then its spectral radius and norm are identical, and the nonzero points of its joint point spectrum and point spectrum are identical. Conditions under which a -hyponormal operator becomes normal, self-adjoint and unitary are given.  相似文献

We study pure subnormal operators whose self-commutators have zero as an eigenvalue. We show that various questions in this are closely related to questions involving approximation by functions satisfying and to the study ofgeneralized quadrature domains.First some general results are given that apply to all subnormal operators within this class; then we consider characterizing the analytic Toeplitz operators, the Hardy operators and cyclic subnormal operators whose self-commutators have zero as an eigenvalue.  相似文献

Various theorems on lifting strong commutants of unbounded subnormal (as well as formally subnormal) operators are proved. It is shown that the strong symmetric commutant of a closed symmetric operatorS lifts to the strong commutant of some tight selfadjoint extension ofS. Strong symmetric commutants of orthogonal sums of subnormal operators are investigated. For a contraction operator T with spectral radius less than one on a Banach space , it is shown that the factorization of certain L1 functions by vectors x in and x*. in , in the sense that for n ≧ 0, implies the existence of invariant subspaces for T. Explicit formulae for such factorizations are given in the case of weighted composition operators on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.
