Let
be an algebraically closed field. Consider a finite dimensional monomial relations algebra
of finite global dimension, where Γ is a quiver and I an admissible ideal generated by a set of paths from the path algebra
. There are many modules over Λ which may be represented graphically by a tree with respect to a top element, of which the
indecomposable projectives are the most natural example. These trees possess branches which correspond to right subpaths of
cycles in the quiver. A pattern in the syzygies of a specific factor module of the corresponding indecomposable projective
module is found, allowing us to conclude that the square of any cycle must lie in the ideal I. 相似文献

The left and right homological integrals are introduced for a large class of infinite dimensional Hopf algebras. Using the homological integrals we prove a version of Maschke's theorem for infinite dimensional Hopf algebras. The generalization of Maschke's theorem and homological integrals are the keys to studying noetherian regular Hopf algebras of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension one.

Let A be a(left and right) Noetherian ring that is semiperfect. Let e be an idempotent of A and consider the ring Γ :=(1-e)A(1-e) and the semi-simple right A-module Se := e A/e rad A. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the global dimensions of A and Γ, by using the homological properties of Se. More precisely, we consider the Yoneda ring Y(e) := Ext_A~*(Se, Se) of e. We prove that if Y(e) is Artinian of finite global dimension, then A has finite global dimension if and only if so does Γ. We also investigate the situation where both A and Γ have finite global dimension. When A is Koszul and finite dimensional, this implies that Y(e) has finite global dimension. We end the paper with a reduction technique to compute the Cartan determinant of Artin algebras. We prove that if Y(e) has finite global dimension, then the Cartan determinants of A and Γ coincide. This provides a new way to approach the long-standing Cartan determinant conjecture. 相似文献

We prove that for finite-dimensional associative algebras the finitistic global dimension in the sense of H. Bass and also the self-injective dimension are preserved under arbitrary extensions of the base field. Further, the global dimension, and as a consequence also finite representation type, are preserved under base field extensions which are separable in the sense of S. MacLane. The results are derived with the aid of ultraproduct-techniques and are applied to the model theory of finite dimensional algebras. 相似文献

In this article, we investigate the change of rings theorems for the Gorenstein dimensions over arbitrary rings. Namely, by the use of the notion of strongly Gorenstein modules, we extend the well-known first, second, and third change of rings theorems for the classical projective and injective dimensions to the Gorenstein projective and injective dimensions, respectively. Each of the results established in this article for the Gorenstein projective dimension is a generalization of a G-dimension of a finitely generated module M over a noetherian ring R. 相似文献

We generalize the concept — dimension tree and the related results for monomial algebras to a more general case — relations algebras Λ by bringing Gröbner basis into play. More precisely, we will describe the minimal projective resolution of a left Λ-module M as a rooted ‘weighted’ diagraph to be called the minimal resolution graph for M. Algorithms for computing such diagraphs and applications as well will be presented. 相似文献

Certain classes of lean quasi-hereditary algebras play a central role in the representation theory of semisimple complex Lie
algebras and algebraic groups. The concept of a lean semiprimary ring, introduced recently in [1] is given here a homological
characterization in terms of the surjectivity of certain induced maps between Ext1-groups. A stronger condition requiring the surjectivity of the induced maps between Ext
k
-groups for allk≥1, which appears in the recent work of Cline, Parshall and Scott on Kazhdan-Lusztig theory, is shown to hold for a large
class of lean quasi-hereditary algebras.

We prove that, for each nonnegative integer n and n = ∞, there exists a compact topological space Ω such that the strict global dimension and the strict bidimension of the Banach algebra C(Ω) of all continuous functions on Ω are equal to n. We also obtain several “additivity formulas” for the strict homological dimensions of strict Banach algebras. 相似文献

Given a finite-dimensional algebra , we show that a frequently satisfied finiteness condition for the category
-mod) of all finitely generated (left) -modules of finite projective dimension, namely contravariant finiteness of
(-mod) in -mod, forces arbitrary modules of finite projective dimension to be direct limits of objects in
(-mod). Among numerous applications, this yields an encompassing sufficient condition for the validity of the first finitistic dimensionconjecture, that is, for the little finitistic dimension of to coincide with the big (this is well known to fail overfinite-dimensional algebras in general). 相似文献

Let S be a semigroup. In this paper we investigate the injectivity of ?1(S) as a Banach right module over ?1(S). For weakly cancellative S this is the same as studying the flatness of the predual left module c0(S). For such semigroups S, we also investigate the projectivity of c0(S). We prove that for many semigroups S for which the Banach algebra ?1(S) is non-amenable, the ?1(S)-module ?1(S) is not injective. The main result about the projectivity of c0(S) states that for a weakly cancellative inverse semigroup S, c0(S) is projective if and only if S is finite. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of algorithmically constructing the left syzygy module for a finite system of elements
in an automaton monomial algebra. The class of automaton monomial algebras includes free associative algebras and finitely
presented algebras. In such algebras the left syzygy module for a finite system of elements is finitely generated. In general,
the left syzygy module in an automaton monomial algebra is not finitely generated. Nevertheless, the generators of the left
syzygy module have a recursive specification with the help of regular sets. This allows one to solve many algorithmic problems
in automaton monomial algebras. For example, one can solve linear equations, recognize the membership in a left ideal, and
recognize zero-divisors.

Let Ω be a metrizable compact space. Suppose that its derived set of some finite order is empty. Let B be a unital Banach algebra, and let $\widehat \otimes $ stand for the projective tensor product. We prove the additivity formulas dg C(Ω)B $\widehat \otimes $ =dgB and db C(Ω) $\widehat \otimes $ B=dbC(Ω)+dbB for the global homological dimension and the homological bidimension. Thus these formulas are true for a new class of commutative Banach algebras in addition to those considered earlier by Selivanov. 相似文献

We introduce and study vertex cover algebras of weighted simplicial complexes. These algebras are special classes of symbolic Rees algebras. We show that symbolic Rees algebras of monomial ideals are finitely generated and that such an algebra is normal and Cohen-Macaulay if the monomial ideal is squarefree. For a simple graph, the vertex cover algebra is generated by elements of degree 2, and it is standard graded if and only if the graph is bipartite. We also give a general upper bound for the maximal degree of the generators of vertex cover algebras. 相似文献
