Let ${\mathcal{A}_{\lambda}^2(\mathbb{B}^n)}$ denote the standard weighted Bergman space over the unit ball ${\mathbb{B}^n}$ in ${\mathbb{C}^n}$ . New classes of commutative Banach algebras ${\mathcal{T}(\lambda)}$ which are generated by Toeplitz operators on ${\mathcal{A}_{\lambda}^2(\mathbb{B}^n)}$ have been recently discovered in Vasilevski (Integr Equ Oper Theory 66(1):141?C152, 2010). These algebras are induced by the action of the quasi-elliptic group of biholomorphisms of ${\mathbb{B}^n}$ . In the present paper we analyze in detail the internal structure of such an algebra in the lowest dimensional case n?=?2. We explicitly describe the maximal ideal space and the Gelfand map of ${\mathcal{T}(\lambda)}$ . Since ${\mathcal{T}(\lambda)}$ is not invariant under the *-operation of ${\mathcal{L}(\mathcal{A}_{\lambda}^2(\mathbb{B}^n))}$ its inverse closedness is not obvious and is proved. We remark that the algebra ${\mathcal{T}(\lambda)}$ is not semi-simple and we derive its radical. Several applications of our results are given and, in particular, we conclude that the essential spectrum of elements in ${\mathcal{T}(\lambda)}$ is always connected.  相似文献

Let α and β be functions in ${L^\infty(\mathbb{T})}$ , where ${\mathbb{T}}$ is the unit circle. Let P denote the orthogonal projection from ${L^2(\mathbb{T})}$ onto the Hardy space ${H^2(\mathbb{T})}$ , and Q = I ? P, where I is the identity operator on ${L^2(\mathbb{T})}$ . This paper is concerned with the singular integral operators S α,β on ${L^2(\mathbb{T})}$ of the form S α,β f = αPf + βQf, for ${f \in L^2(\mathbb{T})}$ . In this paper, we study the normality of S α,β which is related to the Brown–Halmos theorem for the normal Toeplitz operator on ${H^2(\mathbb{T})}$ .  相似文献

We study the topology of spaces related to Kac–Moody groups. Given a Kac–Moody group over $\mathbb C $ , let $\text {K}$ denote the unitary form with maximal torus ${{\mathrm{T}}}$ having normalizer ${{\mathrm{N}}}({{\mathrm{T}}})$ . In this article we study the cohomology of the flag manifold $\text {K}/{{{\mathrm{T}}}}$ as a module over the Nil-Hecke algebra, as well as the (co)homology of $\text {K}$ as a Hopf algebra. In particular, if $\mathbb F $ has positive characteristic, we show that $\text {H}_*(\text {K},\mathbb F )$ is a finitely generated algebra, and that $\text {H}^*(\text {K},\mathbb F )$ is finitely generated only if $\text {K}$ is a compact Lie group . We also study the stable homotopy type of the classifying space $\text {BK}$ and show that it is a retract of the classifying space $\text {BN(T)}$ of ${{\mathrm{N}}}({{\mathrm{T}}})$ . We illustrate our results with the example of rank two Kac–Moody groups.  相似文献

We establish lower bounds on the dimensions in which arithmetic groups with torsion can act on acyclic manifolds and homology spheres. The bounds rely on the existence of elementary $p$ -groups in the groups concerned. In some cases, including ${\mathrm{Sp}}(2n,\mathbb Z )$ , the bounds we obtain are sharp: if $X$ is a generalized $\mathbb Z /3$ -homology sphere of dimension less than $2n-1$ or a $\mathbb Z /3$ -acyclic $\mathbb Z /3$ -homology manifold of dimension less than $2n$ , and if $n\ge 3$ , then any action of ${\mathrm{Sp}}(2n,\mathbb Z )$ by homeomorphisms on $X$ is trivial; if $n=2$ , then every action of ${\mathrm{Sp}}(2n,\mathbb Z )$ on $X$ factors through the abelianization of ${\mathrm{Sp}}(4,\mathbb Z )$ , which is $\mathbb Z /2$ .  相似文献

Denoting by ${\varepsilon\subseteq\mathbb{R}^2}$ the set of the pairs ${(\lambda_1(\Omega),\,\lambda_2(\Omega))}$ for all the open sets ${\Omega\subseteq\mathbb{R}^N}$ with unit measure, and by ${\Theta\subseteq\mathbb{R}^N}$ the union of two disjoint balls of half measure, we give an elementary proof of the fact that ${\partial\varepsilon}$ has horizontal tangent at its lowest point ${(\lambda_1(\Theta),\,\lambda_2(\Theta))}$ .  相似文献

In this paper we describe the actions of the operator $S_\mathbb{D }$ or its adjoint $S_\mathbb{D }^*$ on the poly-Bergman spaces of the unit disk $\mathbb{D }.$ Let $k$ and $j$ be positive integers. We prove that $(S_\mathbb{D })^{j}$ is an isometric isomorphism between the true poly-Bergman subspace $\mathcal{A }_{(k)}^2(\mathbb{D })\ominus N_{(k),j}$ onto the true poly-Bergman space $\mathcal{A }_{(j+k)}^2(\mathbb{D }),$ where the linear space $N_{(k),j}$ have finite dimension $j.$ The action of $(S_\mathbb{D })^{j-1}$ on the canonical Hilbert base for the Bergman subspace $\mathcal{A }^2(\mathbb{D })\ominus \mathcal{P }_{j-1},$ gives a Hilbert base $\{ \phi _{ j , k } \}_{ k }$ for $\mathcal{A }_{(j)}^2(\mathbb{D }).$ It is shown that $\{ \phi _{ j , k } \}_{ j, k }$ is a Hilbert base for $L^2(\mathbb{D },d A)$ such that whenever $j$ and $k$ remain constant we obtain a Hilbert base for the true poly-Bergman space $\mathcal{A }_{(j)}^2(\mathbb{D })$ and $\mathcal{A }_{(-k)}^2(\mathbb{D }),$ respectively. The functions $\phi _{ j , k }$ are polynomials in $z$ and $\overline{z}$ and are explicitly given in terms of the $(2,1)$ -hypergeometric polynomials. We prove explicit representations for the true poly-Bergman kernels and the Koshelev representation for the poly-Bergman kernels of $\mathbb{D }.$ The action of $S_\Pi $ on the true poly-Bergman spaces of the upper half-plane $\Pi $ allows one to introduce Hilbert bases for the true poly-Bergman spaces, and to give explicit representations of the true poly-Bergman and poly-Bergman kernels.  相似文献

For a sequence $\underline{u}=(u_n)_{n\in \mathbb{N }}$ of integers, let $t_{\underline{u}}(\mathbb{T })$ be the group of all topologically $\underline{u}$ -torsion elements of the circle group $\mathbb{T }:=\mathbb{R }/\mathbb{Z }$ . We show that for any $s\in ]0,1[$ and $m\in \{0,+\infty \}$ there exists $\underline{u}$ such that $t_{\underline{u}}(\mathbb{T })$ has Hausdorff dimension $s$ and $s$ -dimensional Hausdorff measure equal to $m$ (no other values for $m$ are possible). More generally, for dimension functions $f,g$ with $f(t)\prec g(t), f(t)\prec \!\!\!\prec t$ and $g(t)\prec \!\!\!\prec t$ we find $\underline{u}$ such that $t_{\underline{u}}(\mathbb{T })$ has at the same time infinite $f$ -measure and null $g$ -measure.  相似文献

Let $\mathbb{K }$ be a field of characteristic zero. We describe an algorithm which requires a homogeneous polynomial $F$ of degree three in $\mathbb{K }[x_{0},x_1,x_{2},x_{3}]$ and a zero ${\mathbf{a }}$ of $F$ in $\mathbb{P }^{3}_{\mathbb{K }}$ and ensures a linear Pfaffian representation of $\text{ V}(F)$ with entries in $\mathbb{K }[x_{0},x_{1},x_{2},x_{3}]$ , under mild assumptions on $F$ and ${\mathbf{a }}$ . We use this result to give an explicit construction of (and to prove the existence of) a linear Pfaffian representation of $\text{ V}(F)$ , with entries in $\mathbb{K }^{\prime }[x_{0},x_{1},x_{2},x_{3}]$ , being $\mathbb{K }^{\prime }$ an algebraic extension of $\mathbb{K }$ of degree at most six. An explicit example of such a construction is given.  相似文献

We show a $2$ -nilpotent section conjecture over $\mathbb{R }$ : for a geometrically connected curve $X$ over $\mathbb{R }$ such that each irreducible component of its normalization has $\mathbb{R }$ -points, $\pi _0(X(\mathbb{R }))$ is determined by the maximal $2$ -nilpotent quotient of the fundamental group with its Galois action, as the kernel of an obstruction of Jordan Ellenberg. This implies that for $X$ smooth and proper, $X(\mathbb{R })^{\pm }$ is determined by the maximal $2$ -nilpotent quotient of $\mathrm{Gal }(\mathbb{C }(X))$ with its $\mathrm{Gal }(\mathbb{R })$ action, where $X(\mathbb{R })^{\pm }$ denotes the set of real points equipped with a real tangent direction, showing a $2$ -nilpotent birational real section conjecture.  相似文献

In this paper, we show that the extended modular group ${\hat{\Gamma}}$ acts on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ transitively and imprimitively. Then the number of orbits of ${\hat{\Gamma} _{0}(N)}$ on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ is calculated and compared with the number of orbits of ${\Gamma _{0}(N)}$ on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ . Especially, we obtain the graphs ${\hat{G}_{u, N}}$ of ${\hat{\Gamma}_{0}(N)}$ on ${\hat{\mathbb{Q}}}$ , for each ${N\in\mathbb{N}}$ and each unit ${u \in U_{N} }$ , then we determine the suborbital graph ${\hat{F}_{u,N}}$ . We also give the edge conditions in ${\hat{G}_{u, N}}$ and the necessary and sufficient conditions for a circuit to be triangle in ${\hat{F}_{u, N}.}$   相似文献

In this paper, we prove that every lax generalized Veronesean embedding of the Hermitian unital ${\mathcal{U}}$ of ${\mathsf{PG}(2,\mathbb{L}), \mathbb{L}}$ a quadratic extension of the field ${\mathbb{K}}$ and ${|\mathbb{K}| \geq 3}$ , in a ${\mathsf{PG}(d,\mathbb{F})}$ , with ${\mathbb{F}}$ any field and d ≥ 7, such that disjoint blocks span disjoint subspaces, is the standard Veronesean embedding in a subgeometry ${\mathsf{PG}(7,\mathbb{K}^{\prime})}$ of ${\mathsf{PG}(7,\mathbb{F})}$ (and d = 7) or it consists of the projection from a point ${p \in \mathcal{U}}$ of ${\mathcal{U}{\setminus} \{p\}}$ from a subgeometry ${\mathsf{PG}(7,\mathbb{K}^{\prime})}$ of ${\mathsf{PG}(7,\mathbb{F})}$ into a hyperplane ${\mathsf{PG}(6,\mathbb{K}^{\prime})}$ . In order to do so, when ${|\mathbb{K}| >3 }$ we strongly use the linear representation of the affine part of ${\mathcal{U}}$ (the line at infinity being secant) as the affine part of the generalized quadrangle ${\mathsf{Q}(4,\mathbb{K})}$ (the solid at infinity being non-singular); when ${|\mathbb{K}| =3}$ , we use the connection of ${\mathcal{U}}$ with the generalized hexagon of order 2.  相似文献

Suppose that n is even. Let ${\mathbb{F}_2}$ denote the two-element field and ${\mathbb{Z}}$ the set of integers. Bent functions can be defined as ± 1-valued functions on ${\mathbb{F}_2^n}$ with ± 1-valued Fourier transform. More generally we call a mapping f on ${\mathbb{F}_2^n}$ a ${\mathbb{Z}}$ -bent function if both f and its Fourier transform ${\widehat{f}}$ are integer-valued. ${\mathbb{Z}}$ -bent functions f are separated into different levels, depending on the size of the maximal absolute value attained by f and ${\widehat{f}}$ . It is shown how ${\mathbb{Z}}$ -bent functions of lower level can be built up recursively by gluing together ${\mathbb{Z}}$ -bent functions of higher level. This recursion comes down at level zero, containing the usual bent functions. In the present paper we start to study bent functions in the framework of ${\mathbb{Z}}$ -bent functions and give some guidelines for further research.  相似文献

Applying the boundedness on weighted Lebesgue spaces of the maximal singular integral operator S * related to the Carleson?CHunt theorem on almost everywhere convergence, we study the boundedness and compactness of pseudodifferential operators a(x, D) with non-regular symbols in ${L^\infty(\mathbb{R}, V(\mathbb{R})), PC(\overline{\mathbb{R}}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ and ${\Lambda_\gamma(\mathbb{R}, V_d(\mathbb{R}))}$ on the weighted Lebesgue spaces ${L^p(\mathbb{R},w)}$ , with 1?< p <? ?? and ${w\in A_p(\mathbb{R})}$ . The Banach algebras ${L^\infty(\mathbb{R}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ and ${PC(\overline{\mathbb{R}}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ consist, respectively, of all bounded measurable or piecewise continuous ${V(\mathbb{R})}$ -valued functions on ${\mathbb{R}}$ where ${V(\mathbb{R})}$ is the Banach algebra of all functions on ${\mathbb{R}}$ of bounded total variation, and the Banach algebra ${\Lambda_\gamma(\mathbb{R}, V_d(\mathbb{R}))}$ consists of all Lipschitz ${V_d(\mathbb{R})}$ -valued functions of exponent ${\gamma \in (0,1]}$ on ${\mathbb{R}}$ where ${V_d(\mathbb{R})}$ is the Banach algebra of all functions on ${\mathbb{R}}$ of bounded variation on dyadic shells. Finally, for the Banach algebra ${\mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ generated by all pseudodifferential operators a(x, D) with symbols ${a(x, \lambda) \in PC(\overline{\mathbb{R}}, V(\mathbb{R}))}$ on the space ${L^p(\mathbb{R}, w)}$ , we construct a non-commutative Fredholm symbol calculus and give a Fredholm criterion for the operators ${A \in \mathfrak{A}_{p,w}}$ .  相似文献

We prove that for every reductive group $G$ with a maximal torus ${\mathbb {T}}$ and the Weyl group $W,\, {\mathbb {T}}^N/W$ is the normalization of the irreducible component, $X_G^0({\mathbb {Z}}^N)$ , of the $G$ -character variety $X_G({\mathbb {Z}}^N)$ of ${\mathbb {Z}}^N$ containing the trivial representation. We also prove that $X_G^0({\mathbb {Z}}^N)={\mathbb {T}}^N/W$ for all classical groups. Additionally, we prove that even though there are no irreducible representations in $X_G^0({\mathbb {Z}}^N)$ for non-abelian $G$ , the tangent spaces to $X_G^0({\mathbb {Z}}^N)$ coincide with $H^1({\mathbb {Z}}^N, Ad\, \rho )$ . Consequently, $X_G^0({\mathbb {Z}}^2)$ , has the “Goldman” symplectic form for which the combinatorial formulas for Goldman bracket hold.  相似文献

In this paper we prove several related results concerning smooth $\mathbb{Z }_p$ or $\mathbb{S }^1$ actions on $4$ -manifolds. We show that there exists an infinite sequence of smooth $4$ -manifolds $X_n$ , $n\ge 2$ , which have the same integral homology and intersection form and the same Seiberg-Witten invariant, such that each $X_n$ supports no smooth $\mathbb{S }^1$ -actions but admits a smooth $\mathbb{Z }_n$ -action. In order to construct such manifolds, we devise a method for annihilating smooth $\mathbb{S }^1$ -actions on $4$ -manifolds using Fintushel-Stern knot surgery, and apply it to the Kodaira-Thurston manifold in an equivariant setting. Finally, the method for annihilating smooth $\mathbb{S }^1$ -actions relies on a new obstruction we derived in this paper for existence of smooth $\mathbb{S }^1$ -actions on a $4$ -manifold: the fundamental group of a smooth $\mathbb{S }^1$ -four-manifold with nonzero Seiberg-Witten invariant must have infinite center. We also include a discussion on various analogous or related results in the literature, including locally linear actions or smooth actions in dimensions other than four.  相似文献

Let $\Phi $ be a continuous $n\times n$ matrix-valued function on the unit circle $\mathbb T $ such that the $(k-1)$ st singular value of the Hankel operator with symbol $\Phi $ is greater than the $k$ th singular value. In this case, it is well-known that $\Phi $ has a unique superoptimal meromorphic approximant $Q$ in $H^{\infty }_{(k)}$ ; that is, $Q$ has at most $k$ poles in the unit disc $\mathbb D $ (in the sense that the McMillan degree of $Q$ in $\mathbb D $ is at most $k$ ) and $Q$ minimizes the essential suprema of singular values $s_{j}\left((\Phi -Q)(\zeta )\right)\!, j\ge 0$ , with respect to the lexicographic ordering. For each $j\ge 0$ , the essential supremum of $s_{j}\left((\Phi -Q)(\zeta )\right)$ is called the $j$ th superoptimal singular value of degree $k$ of $\Phi $ . We prove that if $\Phi $ has $n$ non-zero superoptimal singular values of degree $k$ , then the Toeplitz operator $T_{\Phi -Q}$ with symbol $\Phi -Q$ is Fredholm and has index $$ \mathrm{ind}T_{\Phi -Q}=\dim \ker T_{\Phi -Q}=2k+\dim \mathcal E , $$ where $\mathcal E =\{ \xi \in \ker H_{Q}: \Vert H_{\Phi }\xi \Vert _{2}=\Vert (\Phi -Q)\xi \Vert _{2}\}$ and $H_{\Phi }$ denotes the Hankel operator with symbol $\Phi $ . This result can in fact be extended from continuous matrix-valued functions to the wider class of $k$ -admissible matrix-valued functions, i.e. essentially bounded $n\times n$ matrix-valued functions $\Phi $ on $\mathbb T $ for which the essential norm of the Hankel operator $H_{\Phi }$ is strictly less than the smallest non-zero superoptimal singular value of degree $k$ of $\Phi $ .  相似文献

We consider the (pure) braid groups $B_{n}(M)$ and $P_{n}(M)$ , where $M$ is the $2$ -sphere $\mathbb S ^{2}$ or the real projective plane $\mathbb R P^2$ . We determine the minimal cardinality of (normal) generating sets $X$ of these groups, first when there is no restriction on $X$ , and secondly when $X$ consists of elements of finite order. This improves on results of Berrick and Matthey in the case of $\mathbb S ^{2}$ , and extends them in the case of $\mathbb R P^2$ . We begin by recalling the situation for the Artin braid groups ( $M=\mathbb{D }^{2}$ ). As applications of our results, we answer the corresponding questions for the associated mapping class groups, and we show that for $M=\mathbb S ^{2}$ or $\mathbb R P^2$ , the induced action of $B_n(M)$ on $H_3(\widetilde{F_n(M)};\mathbb{Z })$ is trivial, $F_{n}(M)$ being the $n^\mathrm{th}$ configuration space of $M$ .  相似文献

Let ${\mathcal{P}}$ be a nonparametric probability model consisting of smooth probability densities and let ${\hat{p}_{n}}$ be the corresponding maximum likelihood estimator based on n independent observations each distributed according to the law ${\mathbb{P}}$ . With $\hat{\mathbb{P}}_{n}$ denoting the measure induced by the density ${\hat{p}_{n}}$ , define the stochastic process ${\hat{\nu}}_{n}: f\longmapsto \sqrt{n} \int fd({\hat{\mathbb{P}}}_{n} -\mathbb{P})$ where f ranges over some function class ${\mathcal{F}}$ . We give a general condition for Donsker classes ${\mathcal{F}}$ implying that the stochastic process $\hat{\nu}_{n}$ is asymptotically equivalent to the empirical process in the space ${\ell ^{\infty }(\mathcal{F})}$ of bounded functions on ${ \mathcal{F}}$ . This implies in particular that $\hat{\nu}_{n}$ converges in law in ${\ell ^{\infty }(\mathcal{F})}$ to a mean zero Gaussian process. We verify the general condition for a large family of Donsker classes ${\mathcal{ F}}$ . We give a number of applications: convergence of the probability measure ${\hat{\mathbb{P}}_{n}}$ to ${\mathbb{P}}$ at rate ${\sqrt{n}}$ in certain metrics metrizing the topology of weak(-star) convergence; a unified treatment of convergence rates of the MLE in a continuous scale of Sobolev-norms; ${\sqrt{n}}$ -efficient estimation of nonlinear functionals defined on ${\mathcal{P}}$ ; limit theorems at rate ${\sqrt{n}}$ for the maximum likelihood estimator of the convolution product ${\mathbb{P\ast P}}$ .  相似文献
