On a Generalized Dirichlet Problem for Analytic Family

In this paper, we give the Silov boundary for an analytic family on a bounded strictly pseudoconvex domain or an analytic polyhedron in Cn, and get a necessary and sufficient condition for a generalized Dirichlet problem to be solvable for an analytic family on a bounded holomorphic domain. Especially, we derive that this condition is just that the continuous real boundary value is prescribed on and only on the Silov boundary for an analytic family on a bounded strictly pseudoconvex domain or an analytic polyhedron.

In the combinatorial geometry of convex sets the question of how efficiently a family of convex sets can be pierced by points has led to various problems which may be regarded as extensions of the Helly-type problems. A family of sets is said to be n-pierceable (abbreviated as Пn) if there exists a set of n points such that each member of the family contains at least one of them. A family of sets is said to be Пnk if every subfamily of size k or less is Пn. The famous Helly theorem in combinatorial geometry asserts that for finite families of convex sets in the plane П13 implies П1. In a recent paper by M. Katchalski and D. Nashtir[a] the following conjecture of Griinbaum[2] was mentioned again:     

On the Analytic Solutions of a Special Boundary Value Problem for a Nonlinear Heat Equation in Polar Coordinates

The paper addresses a nonlinear heat equation (the porous medium equation) in the case of a power-law dependence of the heat conductivity coefficient on temperature. The equation is used for describing high-temperature processes, filtration of gases and fluids, groundwater infiltration, migration of biological populations, etc. The heat waves (waves of filtration) with a finite velocity of propagation over a cold background form an important class of solutions to the equation under consideration. A special boundary value problem having solutions of such type is studied. The boundary condition of the problem is given on a sufficiently smooth closed curve with variable geometry. The new theorem of existence and uniqueness of the analytic solution is proved.
