For a locally compact group G, let XG be one of the following introverted subspaces of VN(G): , the C-algebra of uniformly continuous functionals on A(G); , the space of weakly almost periodic functionals on A(G); or , the C-algebra generated by the left regular representation on the measure algebra of G. We discuss the extension of homomorphisms of (reduced) Fourier-Stieltjes algebras on G and H to cb-norm preserving, weak-weak-continuous homomorphisms of into , where (XG,XH) is one of the pairs , , or . When G is amenable, these extensions are characterized in terms of piecewise affine maps.  相似文献

For a metric continuum X, we consider the hyperspaces X2 and C(X) of the closed and nonempty subsets of X and of subcontinua of X, respectively, both with the Hausdorff metric. For a given map we investigate the transitivity of the induced maps and . Among other results, we show that if X is a dendrite or a continuum of type λ and is a map, then C(f) is not transitive. However, if X is the Hilbert cube, then there exists a transitive map such that f2 and C(f) are transitive.  相似文献

Let L(X,Y) stand for the space of all bounded linear operators between real Banach spaces X and Y, and let Σ be a σ-algebra of sets. A bounded linear operator T from the Banach space B(Σ,X) of X-valued Σ-totally measurable functions to Y is said to be σ-smooth if ‖T(fn)Y→0 whenever a sequence of scalar functions (‖fn(⋅)X) is order convergent to 0 in B(Σ). It is shown that a bounded linear operator is σ-smooth if and only if its representing measure is variationally semi-regular, i.e., as An↓∅ (here stands for the semivariation of m on AΣ). As an application, we show that the space Lσs(B(Σ,X),Y) of all σ-smooth operators from B(Σ,X) to Y provided with the strong operator topology is sequentially complete. We derive a Banach-Steinhaus type theorem for σ-smooth operators from B(Σ,X) to Y. Moreover, we characterize countable additivity of measures in terms of continuity of the corresponding operators .  相似文献

We define and investigate extension groups in the context of Arakelov geometry. The “arithmetic extension groups” we introduce are extensions by groups of analytic types of the usual extension groups attached to OX-modules F and G over an arithmetic scheme X. In this paper, we focus on the first arithmetic extension group - the elements of which may be described in terms of admissible short exact sequences of hermitian vector bundles over X - and we especially consider the case when X is an “arithmetic curve”, namely the spectrum SpecOK of the ring of integers in some number field K. Then the study of arithmetic extensions over X is related to old and new problems concerning lattices and the geometry of numbers.Namely, for any two hermitian vector bundles and over X:=SpecOK, we attach a logarithmic size to any element α of , and we give an upper bound on in terms of slope invariants of and . We further illustrate this notion by relating the sizes of restrictions to points in P1(Z) of the universal extension over to the geometry of PSL2(Z) acting on Poincaré's upper half-plane, and by deducing some quantitative results in reduction theory from our previous upper bound on sizes. Finally, we investigate the behaviour of size by base change (i.e., under extension of the ground field K to a larger number field K): when the base field K is Q, we establish that the size, which cannot increase under base change, is actually invariant when the field K is an abelian extension of K, or when is a direct sum of root lattices and of lattices of Voronoi's first kind.The appendices contain results concerning extensions in categories of sheaves on ringed spaces, and lattices of Voronoi's first kind which might also be of independent interest.  相似文献

Consider the generalized growth curve model subject to R(Xm)⊆?⊆R(X1), where Bi are the matrices of unknown regression coefficients, and E=(ε1,…,εs) and are independent and identically distributed with the same first four moments as a random vector normally distributed with mean zero and covariance matrix Σ. We derive the necessary and sufficient conditions under which the uniformly minimum variance nonnegative quadratic unbiased estimator (UMVNNQUE) of the parametric function with C≥0 exists. We show that if there exists a Lipschitz homeomorphism T between the nets in the Banach spaces C(X) and C(Y) of continuous real valued functions on compact spaces X and Y, then the spaces X and Y are homeomorphic provided . By l(T) and l(T−1) we denote the Lipschitz constants of the maps T and T−1. This improves the classical result of Jarosz and the recent result of Dutrieux and Kalton where the constant obtained is . In this paper we give a detailed analysis of the interaction between homological self-correspondences of the general fibre Y/k(t) of the Lefschetz fibration of a Lefschetz pencil on a smooth projective variety X/k, and the Leray filtration of ρ. We derive the result that, if the standard conjecture B(Y) holds, then the operator is algebraic, where is defined as the inverse of L on LPn−1(X) and 0 on LkPj(X) for (1,n−1)≠(k,j); in the course of our proof we see that, under the above assumption, the Künneth projectors for in−1,n,n+1 are algebraic.  相似文献

In this paper, it is shown that the Berezin-Toeplitz operator Tg is compact or in the Schatten class Sp of the Segal-Bargmann space for 1?p<∞ whenever (vanishes at infinity) or , respectively, for some s with , where is the heat transform of g on Cn. Moreover, we show that compactness of Tg implies that is in C0(Cn) for all and use this to show that, for g∈BMO1(Cn), we have is in C0(Cn) for some s>0 only if is in C0(Cn) for alls>0. This “backwards heat flow” result seems to be unknown for g∈BMO1 and even gL. Let R be a commutative local noetherian ring, and let L and L be R-modules. We investigate the properties of the functors and . For instance, we show the following:

Let X be a reduced connected k-scheme pointed at a rational point xX(k). By using tannakian techniques we construct the Galois closure of an essentially finite k-morphism f:YX satisfying the condition H0(Y,OY)=k; this Galois closure is a torsor dominating f by an X-morphism and universal for this property. Moreover, we show that is a torsor under some finite group scheme we describe. Furthermore we prove that the direct image of an essentially finite vector bundle over Y is still an essentially finite vector bundle over X. We develop for torsors and essentially finite morphisms a Galois correspondence similar to the usual one. As an application we show that for any pointed torsor f:YX under a finite group scheme satisfying the condition H0(Y,OY)=k, Y has a fundamental group scheme π1(Y,y) fitting in a short exact sequence with π1(X,x).  相似文献

In this article we study the classification of non-normal cubic hypersurfaces over an algebraically closed field K of arbitrary characteristic. Let be an irreducible non-normal cubic hypersurface. If r≥5, then X is necessarily a cone (Remark 2.3). In view of this fact it suffices to classify irreducible non-normal cubic hypersurfaces for r≤4. We prove that there are precisely five non-normal cubic equations (resp. six non-normal cubic equations) when (resp. when is either 2 or 3), up to projective equivalence. In Iliadis (2005) [13] for an ordinal α the notion of the so-called (bn-Ind?α)-dimensional normal base C for the closed subsets of a space X was introduced. This notion is defined similarly to the classical large inductive dimension Ind. In this case we shall write here I(X,C)?α and say that the base dimension I of the space X by the normal base C is less than or equal to α. The classical large inductive dimension Ind of a normal space X, the large inductive dimension Ind0 of a Tychonoff space X defined independently by Charalambous and Filippov, as well as, the relative inductive dimension defined by Chigogidze for a subspace X of a Tychonoff space Y may be considered as the base dimension I of X by normal bases Z(X) (all closed subsets of X), Z(X) (all functionally closed subsets of X), and , respectively.In the present paper, we shall consider normal bases of spaces consisting of functionally closed subsets. In particular, we introduce new dimension invariant : for a space X, is the minimal element α of the class O∪{−1,∞}, where O is the class of all ordinals, for which there exists a normal base C on X consisting of functionally closed subsets such that I(X,C)?α. We prove that in the class of all completely regular spaces X of weight less than or equal to a given infinite cardinal τ such that there exist universal spaces. However, the following questions are open.(1) Are there universal elements in the class of all normal (respectively, of all compact) spaces X of weight ?τ with ?(2) Are there universal elements in the class of all Tychonoff (respectively, of all normal) spaces X of weight ?τ with Ind0(X)?nω? In this paper, we explore some generalization of the transitive fraternal augmentations for directed graphs and its applications. In particular, we show that the 2-coloring number col2(G)≤O(1(G)0(G)2), where k(G) (k≥0) denotes the greatest reduced average density with depth k of a graph G; we give a constructive proof that k(G) bounds the distance (k+1)-coloring number colk+1(G) with a function f(k(G)). On the other hand, k(G)≤(col2k+1(G))2k+1. We also show that an inductive generalization of transitive fraternal augmentations can be used to study nonrepetitive colorings of graphs.  相似文献
