Let G be an Abelian group. We prove that a group G admits a Hausdorff group topology τ such that the von Neumann radical n(G,τ) of (G,τ) is non-trivial and finite iff G has a non-trivial finite subgroup. If G is a topological group, then n(n(G))≠n(G) if and only if n(G) is not dually embedded. In particular, n(n(Z,τ))=n(Z,τ) for any Hausdorff group topology τ on Z.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of T-pairing and give a min-max characterization for the minimum size of a T-cut. We show that the coefficients in the minimal TDI system for the T-cut polyhedron can be arbitrarily big.  相似文献

A Polish group G is called a group of quasi-invariance or a QI-group, if there exist a locally compact group X and a probability measure μ on X such that (1) there exists a continuous monomorphism ? from G into X with dense image, and (2) for each gX either g?(G) and the shift μg is equivalent to μ or g?(G) and μg is orthogonal to μ. It is proved that ?(G) is a σ-compact subset of X. We show that there exists a Polish non-locally quasi-convex (and hence nonreflexive) QI-group such that its bidual is not a QI-group. It is proved also that the bidual group of a QI-group may be not a saturated subgroup of X. It is constructed a reflexive non-discrete group topology on the integers.  相似文献

Motivated from [31], call a precompact group topology τ on an abelian group G ss-precompact (abbreviated from single sequence precompact  ) if there is a sequence u=(un)u=(un) in G such that τ is the finest precompact group topology on G   making u=(un)u=(un) converge to zero. It is proved that a metrizable precompact abelian group (G,τ)(G,τ) is ss-precompact iff it is countable. For every metrizable precompact group topology τ on a countably infinite abelian group G there exists a group topology η such that η is strictly finer than τ   and the groups (G,τ)(G,τ) and (G,η)(G,η) have the same Pontryagin dual groups (in other words, (G,τ)(G,τ) is not a Mackey group in the class of maximally almost periodic groups).  相似文献

A topological group G is said to be almost maximally almost-periodic if its von Neumann radical n(G) is non-trivial, but finite. In this paper, we prove that every abelian group with an infinite torsion subgroup admits a (Hausdorff) almost maximally almost-periodic group topology. Some open problems are also formulated.  相似文献

In this article, we consider the singular points of meromorphic functions in the unit disk. We prove the second fundamental theorem for the Ahlfors-Shimizu's characteristic in the unit disk in terms of Nevanlinna theory in the angular domains, and obtain the existence of T-points and Hayman T-points dealing with small functions as target.  相似文献

Let G be a connected semisimple real algebraic group. Assume that G(R) has no compact factors and let Γ be a torsion-free uniform lattice subgroup of G(R). Then Γ contains a malnormal abelian subgroup A. This implies that the II1 factor VN(Γ) contains a masa A with Pukánszky invariant {∞}.  相似文献

In this paper, we solve a problem of J.H. Zheng (see Problem 5.12 of [J.H. Zheng, On value distribution of meromorphic functions with respect to arguments, preprint]) by proving that for any ν-valued algebroid function satisfying , there exists a T-direction dealing with multiple values of w(z).  相似文献

We consider single-item (r, q) and (s, T) inventory systems with integer-valued demand processes. While most of the inventory literature studies continuous approximations of these models and establishes joint convexity properties of the policy parameters in the continuous space, we show that these properties no longer hold in the discrete space, in the sense of linear interpolation extension and L?-convexity. This nonconvexity can lead to failure of optimization techniques based on local optimality to obtain the optimal inventory policies. It can also make certain comparative properties established previously using continuous variables invalid. We revise these properties in the discrete space.  相似文献

Let K be a number field, p a prime, and let be the T-ramified, S-split p-class field tower of K, i.e., the maximal pro-p-extension of K unramified outside T and totally split on S, where T and S are disjoint finite sets of places of K. Using a theorem of Tate on nilpotent quotient groups, we give (Theorem 2 in Section 3) an elementary characterisation of the finite extensions L/K, with a normal closure of degree prime to p, such that the analogous p-class field tower of L is equal to the compositum . This N.S.C. only depends on classes and units of L. Some applications and examples are given.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study the solution of 0 ∈ T(x) for an H-monotone operator introduced in [Fang and Huang, Appl. Math. Comput. 145(2003)795-803] in Hilbert spaces, which is the first proposal of it's kind. Some strong and weak convergence results are presented and the relations between maximal monotone operators and H-monotone operators are analyzed. Simultaneously, we apply these results to the minimization problem for T = ∂f and provide some numerical examples to support the theoretical findings.  相似文献

On complemented subgroups of finite groups   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A subgroup H of a group G is said to be complemented in G if there exists a subgroup K of G such that G = HK and HK = 1. In this paper we determine the structure of finite groups with some complemented primary subgroups, and obtain some new results about p-nilpotent groups.  相似文献

Let F be a saturated formation containing the class of supersolvable groups and let G be a finite group. The following theorems are shown: (1) G ∈ F if and only if there is a normal subgroup H such that G/H ∈ F and every maximal subgroup of all Sylow subgroups of H is either c-normal or s-quasinormally embedded in G; (2) G ∈F if and only if there is a soluble normal subgroup H such that G/H∈F and every maximal subgroup of all Sylow subgroups of F(H), the Fitting subgroup of H, is either e-normally or s-quasinormally embedded in G.  相似文献

Motivated by a connection between semi-regular relative difference sets and mutually unbiased bases, we study relative difference sets with parameters (m,n,m,m/n) in groups of non-prime-power orders. Let p be an odd prime. We prove that there does not exist a (2p,p,2p,2) relative difference set in any group of order 2p2, and an abelian (4p,p,4p,4) relative difference set can only exist in the group . On the other hand, we construct a family of non-abelian relative difference sets with parameters (4q,q,4q,4), where q is an odd prime power greater than 9 and . When q=p is a prime, p>9, and , the (4p,p,4p,4) non-abelian relative difference sets constructed here are genuinely non-abelian in the sense that there does not exist an abelian relative difference set with the same parameters.  相似文献

A subgroup H of a group G is called F-z-supplemented in G if there exists a subgroup K of G, such that G = HK and H∩K≤ Z∞F(G), where Z∞F(G) is the F-hypercenter of G. We obtain some results about the F-z-supplemented subgroups and use them to determine the structure of some groups.  相似文献

For an abelian topological group G, let denote the dual group of all continuous characters endowed with the compact open topology. Given a closed subset X of an infinite compact abelian group G such that w(X)<w(G), and an open neighborhood U of 0 in T, we show that . (Here, w(G) denotes the weight of G.) A subgroup D of G determines G if the map defined by r(χ)=χ?D for , is an isomorphism between and . We prove that
