In this note we introduce the concept of a quasi-finite complex. Next, we show that for a given countable simplicial complex L the following conditions are equivalent:
L is quasi-finite.
There exists a [L]-invertible mapping of a metrizable compactum X with e-dimX?[L] onto the Hilbert cube.Finally, we construct an example of a quasi-finite complex L such that its extension type [L] does not contain a finitely dominated complex.

Suppose that K is a CW-complex. When we say that a space Y is an absolute co-extensor for K, we mean that K is an absolute extensor for Y, i.e., that for every closed subset A of Y and any map , there exists a map that extends f.Our main theorem will provide several statements that are equivalent to the condition that whenever K is a CW-complex and X is a space which is the topological sum of a countable collection of compact metrizable spaces each of which is an absolute co-extensor for K, then the Stone-?ech compactification of X is an absolute co-extensor for K.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate localic real functions on frames. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the insertion of a continuous localic real function between two arbitrary comparable localic real functions. This paper studies properties of refinable maps and contains applications to dimension theory. It is proved that refinable maps between compact Hausdorff spaces preserve covering dimension exactly and do not raise small cohomological dimension with any coefficient group. The notion of a c-refinable map is introduced and is shown to play a comparable role in the setting of normal spaces. For example, c-refinable maps between normal spaces are shown to preserve covering dimension and S-weak infinite-dimensionality. These facts do not hold for refinable maps.  相似文献

In this work, we first define the 2-KKM mapping and the generalized 2-KKM mapping on a metric space, and then we apply the property of the hyperconvex metric space to get a KKM theorem and a fixed point theorem without a compactness assumption. In this paper, we extend new selection theorems for almost lower semicontinuous multifunctions T on a paracompact topological space X to general nonconvex settings. On the basis of the Kim-Lee theorem and the Horvath selection theorem, we first show that any a.l.s.c. C-valued multifunction admits a continuous selection under a mild condition of a one-point extension property. Finally, we apply a fundamental selection theorem, due to Ben-El-Mechaiekh and Oudadess, to modify our selection theorems by adjusting a closed subset Z of X with its covering dimension dimXZ≤0. The results derived here generalize and unify various earlier ones from classic continuous selection theory.  相似文献

We apply the machinery of Gröbner bases to finitely presented groups. This allows for computational methods to be developed which prove that a given finitely presented group is not n-linear over a field k assuming some mild conditions. We also present an algorithm which determines whether or not a finitely presented group G is trivial given that an oracle has told us that G is n-linear over an algebraically closed field k.  相似文献

We extend the definition of quasi-finite complexes from countable complexes to arbitrary ones and provide a characterization of quasi-finite complexes in terms of L-invertible maps and dimensional properties of compactifications. Several results related to the class of quasi-finite complexes are established, such as completion of metrizable spaces, existence of universal spaces and a version of the factorization theorem. Furthermore, we define UV(L)-spaces in the realm of metrizable spaces and show that some properties of UV(n)-spaces and UV(n)-maps remain valid for UV(L)-spaces and UV(L)-maps, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain classification and extension theorems for uniform spaces, using the ?ech cohomology theory based on the finite uniform coverings, and study the associated cohomological dimension theory. We generalize some classical theorems related to dimension. We extend Brouwer's fixed point theorem to a class of mappings whose images are not necessarily a subset of the domain. These results also generalize theorems of B.R. Halpern and G.M. Bergman. As applications, we prove some theorems for maps that pull absolute retracts outward into attached sphere collars. We note relationships to the relative Nielsen theory and show that certain of our applications can also be obtained using results of H. Schirmer.  相似文献

It is proved that every mapping from a proper subcontinuum of a hereditarily unicoherent continuum X onto the Knaster's indecomposable continuum (onto a cone over a zerodimensional compact metric set) can be extended to a mapping defined on X.Similarly, every mapping from a proper subcontinuum of a hereditarily indecomposable continuum onto a pseudoarc can be extended to a mapping defined on the whole space.Both of the above results are generalizations of the author's earlier results to the nonmetric case. Using ideas from shape theory we embed the coarse category of metric spaces into the category of direct sequences of simplicial complexes with bonding maps being simplicial. Two direct sequences of simplicial complexes are equivalent if one of them can be transformed to the other by contiguous factorizations of bonding maps and by taking infinite subsequences. This embedding can be realized by either Rips complexes or analogs of Roe?s anti-?ech approximations of spaces.In this model coarse n-connectedness of K={K1K2→?} means that for each k there is m>k such that the bonding map from Kk to Km induces trivial homomorphisms of all homotopy groups up to and including n.The asymptotic dimension being at most n means that for each k there is m>k such that the bonding map from Kk to Km factors (up to contiguity) through an n-dimensional complex.Property A of G. We extend the Nielsen theory of coincidence sets to equalizer sets, the points where a given set of (more than 2) mappings agree. On manifolds, this theory is interesting only for maps between spaces of different dimension, and our results hold for sets of k maps on compact manifolds from dimension (k−1)n to dimension n. We define the Nielsen equalizer number, which is a lower bound for the minimal number of equalizer points when the maps are changed by homotopies, and is in fact equal to this minimal number when the domain manifold is not a surface.As an application we give some results in Nielsen coincidence theory with positive codimension. This includes a complete computation of the geometric Nielsen number for maps between tori.  相似文献

We characterize two classes of metric spaces as images under a closed, finite-to-one mapping of a zero-dimensional metric space. In the case of locally finite-dimensional spaces the mapping must be of strong local order, and for strongly countable-dimensional spaces the mapping must have weak local order. The results are analogues to characterizations by K. Morita (of finite-dimensional spaces) and J. Nagata (of countable-dimensional spaces).  相似文献

We examine the selective screenability property in topological groups. In the metrizable case we also give characterizations of Sc(Onbd,O) and Smirnov-Sc(Onbd,O) in terms of the Haver property and finitary Haver property respectively relative to left-invariant metrics. We prove theorems stating conditions under which Sc(Onbd,O) is preserved by products. Among metrizable groups we characterize the countable dimensional ones by a natural game.  相似文献
