In this paper the problem u+1=0 in ,u=0 on is considered. Here is a finite domain on a Riemannian manifold and the associated Laplace-Beltrami operator. By means of maximum principles isoperimetric bounds for the maximum ofu and the maximum of the absolute value of the gradient ofu, as well as some related bounds are derived.
Zusammenfassung Diese Arbeit behandelt das Problem u+1=0 in ,u=0 auf , wobei ein Gebiet auf einer zweidimensionalen Riemann'schen Mannigfaltigkeit ist, und der zugehörige Laplace-Beltrami Operator. Es werden isoperimetrische Schranken für das Maximum vonu und |u| aus gewissen Maximumsprinzipien hergeleitet, sowie einige verwandte Resultate.

In this paper we introduce the concepts of a quasi-G*-diagonal and quasi--space as generalizations of the concepts of G*-diagonal and -space respectively. It is shown that a quasi-Moore space may be characterized in terms of these concepts. As a consequence we obtain the following metrization theorems: every paracompact -space with quasi-G-diagonal is metrizable and every collectionwise normal quasi--space is metrizable.  相似文献

Let Sr() be the module of all splines of smoothness r on the rectilinear partition which subdivides some domain D. Further, let Sr() be the module of all splines of smoothness r on which also subdivides D, where is a finer subdivision of . We study the relationship between a generating set of Sr() and a generating set for Sr(). This paper gives an algorithm for extending a generating set for Sr() to one for for Sr(). Following earlier work of Tits [8], this paper deals with the structure of buildings which are not necessarily thick; that is, possessing panels (faces of codimension 1) which are contained in two chambers, only. To every building , there is canonically associated a thick building whose Weyl group W( ) can be considered as a reflection subgroup of the Weyl group W() of . One can reconstruct from together with the embedding W( ) W(). Conversely, if is any thick building and W any reflection group containing W( ) as a reflection subgroup, there exists a weak building with Weyl group W and associated thick building .  相似文献

It is known by H. Sachs [5] that the classical curve theorem of ABRAMESCU also holds in isotropic geometry. Generalising an idea due to O. Röschel [2] we regard all inscribed parabolas (s, t) of a triangle (t). This triangle is formed by the tangents of three neighbouring points of a C -curve k(t) in an isotropic plane. Let U((t)) be the circumcircle of (t) and I((t)) the incircle of the triangle (t) whose midpoints of the sides are the vertices of (t). The circle U((t)) is the locus of the isotropic focal points of (s, t) and the incircle I((T)) the envelope of the isotropic axes of (s, t). We prove that the ABRAMESU-circle — lim U((t)) — is identical with the locus of the focal points of lim (s, t) and the circle lim I((t)) with the envelope of the axes of lim (s, t). The characteristic points, different from k(t), of the circles lim U((t)) and lim I((t)) determine the direction of the affine-normal of k(t).Herrn Professor Helmut Mäurer zum 60. A digraph (that is a directed graph) is said to be highly arc transitive if its automorphism group is transitive on the set ofs-arcs for eachs0. Several new constructions are given of infinite highly arc transitive digraphs. In particular, for a connected, 1-arc transitive, bipartite digraph, a highly arc transitive digraphDL() is constructed and is shown to be a covering digraph for every digraph in a certain classD() of connected digraphs. Moreover, if is locally finite, thenDL() is a universal covering digraph forD(). We review our work concerning ordinary linear second-order analytic difference operators (AOs) that admit reflectionless eigenfunctions. This operator class is far more extensive than the reflectionless Schrödinger and Jacobi operators corresponding to KdV and Toda lattice solitons. A subclass of reflectionless AOs, which generalizes the latter class of differential and discrete difference operators, is shown to correspond to the soliton solutions of a nonlocal Toda-type evolution equation. Further restrictions give rise to AOs with isometric eigenfunction transformations, which can be used to associate self-adjoint operators on with the AOs.  相似文献

Using a capacity approach, we prove in this article that it is always possible to define a realization of the Laplacian on L 2() with generalized Robin boundary conditions where is an arbitrary open subset of R n and is a Borel measure on the boundary of . This operator generates a sub-Markovian C 0-semigroup on L 2(). If d=d where is a strictly positive bounded Borel measurable function defined on the boundary and the (n–1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure on , we show that the semigroup generated by the Laplacian with Robin boundary conditions has always Gaussian estimates with modified exponents. We also obtain that the spectrum of the Laplacian with Robin boundary conditions in L p () is independent of p[1,). Our approach constitutes an alternative way to Daners who considers the (n–1)-dimensional Hausdorff measure on the boundary. In particular, it allows us to construct a conterexample disproving Daners' closability conjecture.  相似文献

If (P, L) is a projective plane and is a triangle presentation compatible with a point-line correspondence :P L, then gives rise to a group and a thick building of typeà 2 on the vertices of which acts simply transitively. We find all triangle presentations (up to natural equivalence) compatible with some point-line correspondence :P L, when (P, L) is the projective plane of orderq=2 orq=3. For some, but not all, of these , is isomorphic to the building associated withG=PGL(3,K) whereK is a local field with discrete valuation and residual field of orderq. This paper deals with positive solutions of degenerate and strongly coupled quasi-linear parabolic system not in divergence form: ut=vp(u+au), vt=uq (v+bv) with null Dirichlet boundary condition and positive initial condition, where p, q, a and b are all positive constants, and p, q 1. The local existence of positive classical solution is proved. Moreover, it will be proved that: (i) When min {a, b} 1 then there exists global positive classical solution, and all positive classical solutions can not blow up in finite time in the meaning of maximum norm (we can not prove the uniqueness result in general); (ii) When min {a, b} > 1, there is no global positive classical solution (we can not still prove the uniqueness result), if in addition the initial datum (u0v0) satisfies u0 + au0 0, v0+bv0 0 in , then the positive classical solution is unique and blows up in finite time, where 1 is the first eigenvalue of – in with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition.This project was supported by PRC grant NSFC 19831060 and 333 Project of JiangSu Province.  相似文献

In this paper we continue the study of the theories I n+1 (T), initiated in [7]. We focus on the quantifier complexity of these fragments and theirs (non)finite axiomatization. A characterization is obtained for the class of theories such that I n+1 (T) is n+2 –axiomatizable. In particular, I n+1 (I n+1 ) gives an axiomatization of Th n+2 (I n+1 ) and is not finitely axiomatizable. This fact relates the fragment I n+1 (I n+1 ) to induction rule for n+1 –formulas. Our arguments, involving a construction due to R. Kaye (see [9]), provide proofs of Parsons conservativeness theorem (see [16]) and (a weak version) of a result of L.D.
