We study the fluctuation-induced magnetotransport of a two-dimensional superconductor in the quasiballistic regime, where ξ GL(T) ≪ ℓ (ℓ is the electron mean free path and ξ GL(T) is the Ginzburg-Landau coherence length). The magnetoconductivity is evaluated in the nonlocal fluctuation regime thereby extending the existing theory valid in the local limit. We show that the Maki-Thompson (MT) and density-of-states (DOS) contributions strongly compensate each other and their sum is negligible in comparison with the Aslamazov-Larkin (AL) term. The hierarchy of the fluctuation contributions to the magnetoconductivity in the high-field limit is also qualitatively discussed. Within the single band 2D-Hubbard model treated by means of a strong-coupling approach based on a cumulant expansion and a nonstandard diagrammatic technique, we discuss the existence of critical charge fluctuations that could give rise to an instability towards a phase separation (PS). It turns out that such instability exists and evolves into an incommensurate charge density wave (ICDW) when long-range Coulomb forces are taken into account. We find a stripe phase with a crossover from diagonal to vertical stripes at increasing doping in the range 0.01 ?δ? 0.2 and increasing Coulomb potential U, similarly to recent NMR experiments on La 2 - x Sr x CuO 4. The light scattering by three-dimensional clusters supported by a substrate is modelled by representing clusters by truncated spheroids whose polarizability is calculated via a multipolar development of the potential in the quasi-static limit. The determination of the mean island radius, density and aspect ratio from the optical response is examined. The strong influence of both the particle-substrate interaction and the particle shape on the optical behaviour is demonstrated, showing the limits of effective medium and dipolar theories. The Surface Differential Reflectance spectra of silver on MgO(100) and titanium or aluminium on α-Al2O3(0001) surfaces have then been modelled by using the above model, illustrating the capability of optical means to deal with various metals, including those belonging to transition series. In all cases, it is highlighted that the aspect ratio is central in modelling the optical response of supported particles. Received 5 June 2000 and Received in final form 31 July 2001  相似文献

We consider a system of fermions in the continuum case at zero temperature, in the strong-coupling limit of a short-range attraction when composite bosons form as bound-fermion pairs. We examine the density dependence of the size of the composite bosons at leading order in the density (“dilute limit”), and show on general physical grounds that this size should decrease with increasing density, both in three and two dimensions. We then compare with the analytic zero-temperature mean-field solution, which indeed exhibits the size shrinking of the composite bosons both in three and two dimensions. We argue, nonetheless, that the two-dimensional mean-field solution is not consistent with our general result in the “dilute limit”, to the extent that mean field treats the scattering between composite bosons in the Born approximation which is known to break down at low energy in two dimensions. We show that the spin-and-space unrestricted Hartree-Fock method, in conjunction with the companion step of the restoration of spin and space symmetries via Projection Techniques (when such symmetries are broken), is able to describe the full range of couplings in two-dimensional double quantum dots, from the strong-coupling regime exhibiting delocalized molecular orbitals to the weak-coupling and dissociation regimes associated with a Generalized Valence Bond combination of atomic-type orbitals localized on the individual dots. The weak-coupling regime is always accompanied by an antiferromagnetic ordering of the spins of the individual dots. The cases of dihydrogen (H2, 2e) and dilithium (Li2, 6e) quantum dot molecules are discussed in detail. Received 19 December 2000  相似文献

We present the application of the McBryan and Spencer method to a model describing a mixture of hard-core bosons and fermions interacting each others via a hybridization coupling. We prove upper bounds for some correlation functions at finite temperature and then rule out the possibility of long-range order of superconducting type in one and two dimensions. The classical treatment of quasi-spherical vesicle undulations has, in the present work, been reviewed and extended to systems, which are affected by a gravitational field caused by a density difference across the membrane. The effects have been studied by the use of perturbation theory leading to corrections to the mean shape and the fluctuation correlation matrix. These corrections have been included in an analytical expression for the flicker spectrum to probe how the experimentally accessible spectrum changes with gravity. The results are represented in terms of the gravitational parameter, g 0 = ΔρgR 4/κ. The contributions from gravity are in most experimental situations small and thus negligible, but for values of g0 above a certain limit, the perturbational corrections must be included. Expressions for the relative error on the flicker spectrum have been worked out, so that it is possible to define the regime where gravity is negligible. An upper limit of g0 has also been identified, where the error in all modes of the flicker spectrum is significant due to distortion of the mean shape. The connection between the out of equilibrium linear response function and static properties established by Franz, Mezard, Parisi and Peliti for slowly relaxing systems is analyzed in the context of phase ordering processes. Separating the response in the bulk of domains from interface response, we find that in order for the connection to hold the interface contribution must be asymptotically negligible. How fast this happens depends on the competition between interface curvature and the perturbing external field in driving domain growth. This competition depends on space dimensionality and there exists a critical value d c = 3 below which the interface response becomes increasingly important eventually invalidating the connection between statics and dynamics as the limit d = 1 is reached. This mechanism is analyzed numerically for the Ising model with d ranging from 1 to 4 and analytically for a continuous spin model with arbitrary dimensionality. Received 10 July 2001  相似文献

We study the zero-temperature spin fluctuations of a two-dimensional itinerant-electron system with an incommensurate magnetic ground state described by a single-band Hubbard Hamiltonian. We introduce the (broken-symmetry) magnetic phase at the mean-field (Hartree-Fock) level through a spiral spin configuration with characteristic wave vector Q different in general from the antiferromagnetic wave vector Q AF, and consider spin fluctuations over and above it within the electronic random-phase (RPA) approximation. We obtain a closed system of equations for the generalized wave vector and frequency dependent susceptibilities, which are equivalent to the ones reported recently by Brenig. We obtain, in addition, analytic results for the spin-wave dispersion relation in the strong-coupling limit of the Hubbard Hamiltonian and find that at finite doping the spin-wave dispersion relation has a hybrid form between that associated with the (localized) Heisenberg model and that associated with the (long-range) RKKY exchange interaction. We also find an instability of the spin-wave spectrum in a finite region about the center of the Brillouin zone, which signals a physical instability toward a different spin- or, possibly, charge-ordered phase, as, for example, the stripe structures observed in the high-T c materials. We expect, however, on physical grounds that for wave vectors external to this region the spin-wave spectrum that we have determined should survive consideration of more sophisticated mean-field solutions. The purpose of this paper is to show how the diagrammatic expansion in fermion exchanges of scalar products of N-composite-boson (“coboson”) states can be obtained in a practical way. The hard algebra on which this expansion is based, will be given in an independent publication. Due to the composite nature of the particles, the scalar products of N-coboson states do not reduce to a set of Kronecker symbols, as for elementary bosons, but contain subtle exchange terms between two or more cobosons. These terms originate from Pauli exclusion between the fermionic components of the particles. While our many-body theory for composite bosons leads to write these scalar products as complicated sums of products of “Pauli scatterings” between two cobosons, they in fact correspond to fermion exchanges between any number P of quantum particles, with 2 ≤P≤N. These P-body exchanges are nicely represented by the so-called “Shiva diagrams”, which are topologically different from Feynman diagrams, due to the intrinsic many-body nature of the Pauli exclusion from which they originate. These Shiva diagrams in fact constitute the novel part of our composite-exciton many-body theory which was up to now missing to get its full diagrammatic representation. Using them, we can now “see” through diagrams the physics of any quantity in which enters N interacting excitons — or more generally N composite bosons —, with fermion exchanges included in an exact — and transparent — way.  相似文献

We investigate the stochastic dynamics of an one-dimensional ring with N self-driven Brownian particles. In this model neighboring particles interact via conservative Morse potentials. The influence of the surrounding heat bath is modeled by Langevin-forces (white noise) and a constant viscous friction coefficient γ. The Brownian particles are provided with internal energy depots which may lead to active motions of the particles. The depots are realized by an additional nonlinearly velocity-dependent friction coefficient γ 1(v) in the equations of motions. In the first part of the paper we study the partition functions of time averages and thermodynamical quantities (e.g. pressure) characterizing the stationary physical system. Numerically calculated non-equilibrium phase diagrams are represented. The last part is dedicated to transport phenomena by including a homogeneous external force field that breaks the symmetry of the model. Here we find enhanced mobility of the particles at low temperatures. Received 21 July 2001  相似文献

We analyse the coherence properties of two particles trapped in a one-dimensional harmonic potential. This simple model allows us to derive analytic expressions for the first and second order coherence functions. We investigate their properties depending on the particle nature and the temperature of the quantum gas. We find that at zero temperature non-interacting bosons and fermions show very different correlations, while they coincide for higher temperatures. We observe atom bunching for bosons and atom anti-bunching for fermions. When the effect of s-wave scattering between bosons is taken into account, we find that the range of coherence is enhanced or reduced for repulsive or attractive potentials, respectively. Strongly repelling bosons become in some way more “fermion-like" and show anti-bunching. Their first order coherence function, however, differs from that for fermions. High spin states in 126Ce and 127Pr were populated via heavy ion reactions with 182-MeV 35Cl projectiles on a thick 96Ru target. Prompt γ–γ coincidences were measured. New states in 126Ce and 127Pr were found. The results are discussed in the framework of the core–quasiparticle coupling model. Received: 16 June 1998  相似文献

We evaluate the threshold matrix–element for the reaction ppppπ0 in a fully relativistic Feynman diagrammatic approach. We employ a simple effective range approximation to take care of the S–wave pp final–state interaction. The experimental value for the threshold amplitude A = (2.7 −i0.3) fm4 can be reproduced by contributions from tree level chiral (long–range) pion exchange and short–range effects related to vector meson exchanges, with ω-exchange giving the largest individual contribution. Pion loop effects appear to be small. We stress that the commonly used heavy baryon formalism is not applicable in the NN–system above the pion production threshold due to the large external momentum, |p|≃ (Mm π)−1/2, with M and m π the nucleon and the pion mass, respectively. We furthermore investigate the reaction pppnπ+ near threshold within the same approach. We extract from the data the triplet threshold amplitude as B = (2.8 −i1.5) fm4. Its real part can be well understood from (relativistic) tree level meson–exchange diagrams. In addition, we investigate the process ppppη near threshold. We use a simple factorization ansatz for the ppη final–state interaction and extract from the data the modulus of the threshold amplitude, |C|= 1.32 fm4. With g ηN= 5.3, this value can be reproduced by (relativistic) tree level meson–exchange diagrams and η–rescattering, whose strength is fixed by the ηN scattering length. We also comment on the recent near threshold data for η–production. Received: 27 November 1998  相似文献

The Nambu–Jona–Lasinio model of the deuteron suggested by Nambu and Jona–Lasinio (Phys. Rev. 124 (1961) 246) is formulated from the first principles of QCD. The deuteron appears as a neutron–proton collective excitation, i.e. a Cooper np–pair, induced by a phenomenological local four–nucleon interaction in the nuclear phase of QCD. The model describes the deuteron coupled to itself, nucleons and other particles through one–nucleon loop exchanges providing a minimal transfer of nucleon flavours from initial to final nuclear states and accounting for contributions of nucleon–loop anomalies which are completely determined by one–nucleon loop diagrams. The dominance of contributions of nucleon–loop anomalies to effective Lagrangians of low–energy nuclear interactions is justified in the large N C expansion, where N C is the number of quark colours. The local electronic structure of YBa2Cu3O7 has been calculated using first-principles cluster methods. Several clusters embedded in an appropriate background potential have been investigated. The electric field gradients at the copper and oxygen sites are determined and compared to previous theoretical calculations and experiments. Spin polarized calculations with different spin multiplicities have enabled a detailed study of the spin density distribution to be made and a simultaneous determination of magnetic hyperfine coupling parameters. The contributions from on-site and transferred hyperfine fields have been disentangled with the conclusion that the transferred spin densities essentially are due to nearest neighbour copper ions only with marginal influence of ions further away. This implies that the variant temperature dependencies of the planar copper and oxygen NMR spin-lattice relaxation rates are only compatible with commensurate antiferromagnetic correlations. The theoretical hyperfine parameters are compared with those derived from experimental data. Received 10 April 2001 and Received in final form 19 June 2001  相似文献

We analyse the baryon mass spectrum in a framework which combines the 1/N c expansion with chiral perturbation theory. Meson loop contributions involving the full SU(3) octet of pseudoscalar Goldstone bosons are evaluated, and the influence of explicit chiral and flavor symmetry breaking by non-zero and unequal quark masses is investigated. We also discuss sigma terms and the strangeness contribution to the nucleon mass. Received: 29 June 1998 / Revised version: 25 November 1998  相似文献

We consider the effect of Coulomb interactions on the average density of states (DOS) of disordered low-dimensional metals for temperatures T and frequencies ω smaller than the inverse elastic life-time 1/τ. Using the fact that long-range Coulomb interactions in two dimensions (2d) generate ln2-singularities in the DOS ν(ω) but only ln-singularities in the conductivity σ(ω), we can re-sum the most singular contributions to the average DOS via a simple gauge-transformation. If σ(ω) > 0, then a metallic Coulomb gapν(ω) ∝ |ω|/e 4 appears in the DOS at T = 0 for frequencies below a certain crossover frequency Ω 2 which depends on the value of the DC conductivity σ(0). Here, - e is the charge of the electron. Naively adopting the same procedure to calculate the DOS in quasi 1d metals, we find ν(ω) ∝ (|ω|/Ω 1)1/2exp(- Ω 1/|ω|) at T = 0, where Ω 1 is some interaction-dependent frequency scale. However, we argue that in quasi 1d the above gauge-transformation method is on less firm grounds than in 2d. We also discuss the behavior of the DOS at finite temperatures and give numerical results for the expected tunneling conductance that can be compared with experiments. According to the crystal structure of MgB2 and band structure calculations, quasi-two-dimensional (2D) boron planes are responsible for the superconductivity. We report on critical-field and resistance measurements of 5.6-μm-thick MgB2 films grown on a sapphire single-crystal substrate. Resistivity measurements yield a temperature dependence of the fluctuation conductivity above the critical temperature, which agrees with the Aslamazov-Larkin and Maki-Thompson theory of fluctuations in layered superconductors, indicating a quasi-two-dimensional nucleation of superconductivity in MgB2.  相似文献
