Effects of Nb2O5 on thermal stability and optical properties of Er3+-doped tellurite glasses

Er3+-doped tellurite glasses with molar compositions of
xNb2O5-(14.7-x)Na2O--10ZnO--5K2O--10GeO2--
60TeO2--0.3Er2O3
(x=0, 3, 5, 7 and 9) have been investigated for developing 1.5~μm
fibre and planar amplifiers. The effects of Nb2O5 on the thermal stability
and optical properties of Er3+-doped tellurite glasses have been discussed.
It is noted that the incorporation of Nb2O5 (x=5) increases the thermal
stability of tellurite glasses significantly. Er3+-doped niobium tellurite
glasses exhibit a large stimulated emission cross-section (7.2\times 10-21-
10.7×10-21~cm2 and the gain bandwidth, FWHM×\sigmae^{\rm peak} (274\times 10-28 - 480×10-28~cm3), which are
significantly higher than that of silicate and phosphate glasses. In addition, the
intensity of upconversion luminescence of the Er3+-doped niobium tellurite
glasses decreases rapidly with increasing Nb2O5 content. As a result,
Er3+-doped niobium tellurite glasses might be a potential candidate for
developing laser or optical amplifier devices. 相似文献

This paper reports that a series of Nd3+:Er3+:Yb3+ co-doped borosilicate glasses have been prepared and their absorption spectra measured. The J--O intensity parameters Ωk (k=2, 4, 6), spontaneous radiative lifetime τrad, spontaneous transition probability A, fluorescence branching ratio β and oscillator strength fed of the Nd3+ ions at room temperature are calculated based on Judd--Ofelt (J--O) theory. The temperature dependence of the up-conversion photoluminescence characteristics in a Nd3+:Er3+:Yb3+ co-doped sample is studied under a 978 nm semiconductor laser excitation, and the energy transfer mechanisms among Yb3+, Er3+ and Nd3+ ions are analysed. The results show that the J--O intensity parameters Ω2 increase when the Nd3+ concentration of the Nd3+:Er3+:Yb3+ co-doped borosilicate glasses increases. The possibility of spontaneous transition is small and lifetimes are long at levels of 4F5/2 and 4F3/2. The intensity of Nd3+ emissions at 595, 691, 753, 813 and 887 nm are markedly enhanced when the sample temperature exceeds 400 K. The reasons being the cooperation of the secondary sensitization from Er3+ to Nd3+ and the contribution of a multi-phonon. 相似文献

测试了不同掺杂浓度和样品厚度下掺铒磷酸盐和碲酸盐玻璃的吸收光谱、荧光光谱和荧光寿 命,计算了Er3+离子在1.53 μm处的吸收截面(σa)、发射截面(σ e)、自发辐射跃迁概率(Arad)、辐射跃迁寿命(τrad) 、以及辐射跃迁量子效率(η)等光谱参数.讨论了荧光俘获效应对掺铒磷酸盐和碲酸盐玻璃 光谱性质及光谱参数的影响.结果表明即使在铒离子低掺杂浓度(0.1 mol% Er2O 3)下,荧光俘获效应也普遍存在于掺铒玻璃材料中,使得荧光寿命(τf sub>)和荧光半高宽(FWHM)随样品的厚度和铒离子掺杂浓度增加而增大,导致碲酸盐和磷酸 盐玻璃中τf分别增加11%—37%和6%—17%,FWHM分别增加15%—64%和11%—55% ,使得掺铒玻璃材料的放大品性参数(σe×FWHM) 也相应被估高.由于铒离子在 碲酸盐玻璃中在1.53 μm处吸收和发射截面重叠面积较大,加之铒离子在前者基质中的发射 截面高于后者,使得掺铒碲酸盐玻璃中的荧光俘获效应高于磷酸盐玻璃.

Transparent phosphate glass ceramics co-doped with Er3+ and Yb3+ in the system P2O5Li2OCaF2TiO2 were successfully synthesized by melt-quenching and subsequent heating. Formation of the nanocrystals was confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction. Judd–Ofelt analyses of Er3+ ions in the precursor glasses and glass ceramics were performed to evaluate the intensity parameters Ω2,4,6. Under 975 nm excitation, intense upconversion (UC) and infrared emission (1545 nm) were observed in the glass ceramics by efficient energy transfer from Yb3+ to Er3+. The luminescence processes were explained and the emission cross section was calculated by Fuchtbauer–Ladenburg (F–L) formula. The results confirm the potential applications of Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped glass ceramics as laser and fiber amplifier media. 相似文献

Using the technique of high-temperature melting, a new Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped fluorophosphate glass was prepared. The absorption and fluorescence spectra were investigated in depth. The effect of Er3+ and Yb3+ concentration on the spectroscopic properties of the glass sample was also discussed. According to the Judd-Ofelt theory, the oscillator strength was computed. The lifetime of 4I13/2 level (τm) of Er3+ ions was 8.23 ms, and the full width at half maximum of the dominating emission peak was 68 nm at 1.53 τm. The large stimulated emission cross section of the Er3+ was calculated by the McCumber theory. The spectroscopic properties of Er3+ ion were compared with those in different glasses. The full width at half maximum and σe are larger than those of other glass hosts, indicating this studied glass may be a potentially useful candidate for high-gain erbium-doped fiber amplifier. 相似文献

This paper reports on the absorption, visible and near-infrared luminescence properties of Nd3+, Er3+, Er3+/2Yb3+, and Tm3+ doped oxyfluoride aluminosilicate glasses. From the measured absorption spectra, Judd-Ofelt (J-O) intensity parameters (Ω2, Ω4 and Ω6) have been calculated for all the studied ions. Decay lifetime curves were measured for the visible emissions of Er3+ (558 nm, green), and Tm3+ (650 and 795 nm), respectively. The near infrared emission spectrum of Nd3+ doped glass has shown full width at half maximum (FWHM) around 45 nm (for the 4F3/2→4I9/2 transition), 45 nm (for the 4F3/2→4I11/2 transition), and 60 nm (for the 4F3/2→4I13/2 transition), respectively, with 800 nm laser diode (LD) excitation. For Er3+, and Er3+/2Yb3+ co-doped glasses, the characteristic near infrared emission bands were spectrally centered at 1532 and 1544 nm, respectively, with 980 nm laser diode excitation, exhibiting full width at half maximum around 50 and 90 nm for the erbium 4I13/2→4I15/2 transition. The measured maximum decay times of 4I13/2→4I15/2 transition (at wavelength 1532 and 1544 nm) are about 5.280 and 5.719 ms for 1Er3+ and 1Er3+/2Yb3+ (mol%) co-doped glasses, respectively. The maximum stimulated emission cross sections for 4I13/2→4I15/2 transition of Er3+ and Er3+/Yb3+ are 10.81×10−21 and 5.723×10-21 cm2. These glasses with better thermal stability, bright visible emissions and broad near-infrared emissions should have potential applications in broadly tunable laser sources, interesting optical luminescent materials and broadband optical amplification at low-loss telecommunication windows. 相似文献

制备了系列Er3+/Yb3+共掺碲硼硅酸盐玻璃样品(85-x)TeO2-15B2O3-xSiO2 (TBS x=0,5,10,15,20 mol%).测试和分析了样品的吸收光谱、荧光光谱、能级寿命、红外透射光谱及差热特性.并通过对Er3+离子4I13/2→4I15/2跃迁发射谱线的高斯拟合,设计了一个简单的四能级结构估算了Er3+离子4I13/2和4I15/2能级在碲硼硅酸盐中的Stark分裂情况.研究表明SiO2的引入能有效地改善玻璃的热稳定性和光谱性能,玻璃析晶温度Tx与玻璃转变温度Tg之差(ΔT=Tx-Tg)可达178℃,说明碲硼硅酸盐是一种适合于光纤拉制的玻璃基质材料.比较了不同基质玻璃中Er3+离子的荧光半高宽和受激发射截面,结果表明TBS玻璃系统具有较好的带宽性能,是一种优良的宽带光纤放大器候选基质材料.

用高温熔融法制备了Er3+/Ce3+共掺新型碲酸盐玻璃(TeO2-Bi2O3-TiO2).采用差热分析方法研究了玻璃的热稳定性,测试并分析了不同Ce3+离子掺杂浓度下Er3+离子的吸收光谱、上转换光谱和荧光光谱特性.研究结果表明,制备的碲酸盐玻璃具有很好的热稳定性,玻璃析晶温度Tx与玻璃转变温度Tg之差(ΔT=Tx-Tg)达到了185 ℃,高于其它文献的报道|同时,Ce3+离子共掺引入的能量转移(Ce3+∶2F5/2+Er3+∶4I11/2→Ce3+∶2F7/2+Er3+∶4I13/2)有效地抑制了Er3+离子上转换发光并显著增强了1.53 μm波段荧光强度,而发射截面随着Ce3+离子掺杂浓度相应增大.优异的热稳定性以及光谱性能揭示Er3+/Ce3+共掺碲酸盐玻璃是一种潜在的制备宽带掺铒光纤放大器的理想增益介质. 相似文献

The broadband near-IR emission has been investigated in a series of Er/Tm co-doped Bi2O3–SiO2–Ga2O3 (BSG) glasses with 800 nm laser diode as an excitation source. A broadband emission extending from 1350 to 1650 nm with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) around 165 nm is obtained in 0.2 wt% Er2O3 and 1.0 wt% Tm2O3 co-doped BSG glass. The fluorescence decay curves of glasses are measured and maximum energy transfer efficiency from Er3+ to Tm3+ reaches 71% when Tm3+ concentration is 1.0 wt%. The temperature dependence of the broadband emission spectra in Er3+–Tm3+ co-doped BSG glass is also recorded to further understand the energy-transfer processes between Er3+ and Tm3+. The present work suggests that Er/Tm co-doped BSG glasses can be a potential candidate for broadband integrated amplifier. 相似文献

The Er^3+/Yb^3+ co-doped TeO2-Nb2O5-Li2O glass is prepared by conventional melting method, and its upconversion spectra are measured. The intense green upconversion luminescence upon excitation with a 976 nm laser diode is observed with the naked eyes. The dependence of luminescence intensity on the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is discussed in detail, and the relationship between the ratio of green luminescence intensity to red luminescence intensity and the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is also studied, The luminescence intensity increases with the ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ increasing. The ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ plays a more important role than the concentration of Er^3+ in determining the upconversion luminescence intensity. The ratio of green luminescence intensity to red luminescence intensity reaches a maximum when ratio of Yb^3+/Er^3+ is 3. Thus the glass could be one of the potential candidates for LD pumping solid-state lasers. 相似文献

Er3+ doped and Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped Y4Al2O9 phosphors are prepared by the sol-gel method. The effect of dopant concentration on the structure and up-conversion properties is investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence, respectively. XRD pattern indicates that the sample structure belongs to monoclinic. Under 980 nm excitation, the green and red up-conversion emissions are observed and the emission intensities depended on the Yb3+ ion concentration. The green up-conversion emissions decrease with the increase of Yb3+ concentration, while red emission increases as Yb3+ concentration increases from 0 to 8 at% and then decreases at high Yb3+ concentration. The mechanisms of the up-conversion emissions are discussed and results shows that in Er3+ and Yb3+/Er3+ co-doped system, cross-relaxation (CR) and energy transfer (ET) processes play an important role for the green and red up-conversion emissions. 相似文献

在忽略高能级的自发辐射和光纤损耗的情况下,利用速率方程和传输方程理论研究了高浓度Er3+/Yb3+共掺磷酸盐玻璃光纤放大器的增益特性,讨论了Er3+浓度、Yb3+浓度、抽运光功率、信号光功率、光纤长度对放大器增益的影响,并与单掺铒光纤放大器进行了比较.由于Yb3+的敏化作用降低了铒离子的团簇效应,减少了离子间相互作用,共掺光纤的增益和效率明显高于单掺光纤.数值计算表明,3.2cm长Er3+/Yb3+共掺光纤在980nm的20dBm(100mW)抽运功率下,1532nm处的增益可达10dB.
