Let be a cusp form on GL(2) over a number field F and let Ebe a quadratic extension of F. Denote by E the base change of to E and by a unitary character of AxE/ Ex. We use the relativetrace formula to give an explicit formula for L(1/2, E ) interms of period integrals of Gross–Prasad test vectors. We give an application of this formula to equidistribution ofgeodesics on a hyperbolic 3-fold.  相似文献

Let Ek(z) be the Eisenstein series with weight k for the modulargroup SL(2, ). We prove that the zeros of Ek(ei) interlace withthe zeros of Ek+12(ei) on /2 < < 2/3. That is, any zeroof Ek(ei) lies between two consecutive zeros of Ek+12(ei) on/2 < < 2/3.  相似文献

The Hall-Janko-Wales group J2 is one of the twenty-six sporadicfinite simple groups. The cohomology of its Sylow 2-subgroupSJ is computed, an important step in calculating the mod 2 cohomologyof J2. The spectral sequence corresponding to the central extensionfor SJ is described and shown to collapse at the eighth page. The group SJ contains two subgroups (the central product of a dihedral and a quaternionic group)and 22+4 (the Sylow 2-subgroup of the matrix group PSL3(4))which detect the cohomology of SJ. The cohomology relationsfor the subgroup 22+4 are computed.  相似文献

In Merel's recent proof [7] of the uniform boundedness conjecturefor the torsion of elliptic curves over number fields, a keystep is to show that for sufficiently large primes N, the Heckeoperators T1, T2, ..., TD are linearly independent in theiractions on the cycle e from 0 to i in H1(X0(N) (C), Q). In particular,he shows independence when max(D8, 400D4) < N/(log N)4. Inthis paper we use analytic techniques to show that one can chooseD considerably larger than this, provided that N is large.  相似文献

High-accuracy P-stable Methods for y' = f(t, y)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We obtain a one-parameter family of sixth-order P-stable methodsfor the numerical integration of periodic or near-periodic differentialequations that are defined by initial-value problems of theform: y" = f(t, y), y(t0)= y0, y'(t0)= y0. Our P-stablemethods are symmetric and involve three function evaluationsper step (periteration, in case f(t, y) is non-linear in y).For non-linear problems, starting values for the solution ofthe implicit equations by modified Newton's method are suggestedand illustrated by an example.  相似文献

It is well known that the s-stage Gauss Runge-Kutta methodsof order 2s are algebraically stable, or equivalently (1, 0)-algebraicallystable. In this paper, we show that there exists some ls >0 such that the Gauss methods are (k, l) algebraically stablefor l [0, ls) with k(l)=e2l+O(lp+1, where p=2s if s=1 or s=2,and p=2 if s>3.  相似文献

To investigate stability and phase lag, a numerical method isapplied to the test equation y' = –2y. Frequently, thecharacteristic equation of the resulting recurrence relationhas the form 2– 2Rnm(v2) + 1 = 0, where v = h, with hthe steplength, and Rnm(v2) is a rational approximation forcos v. In this paper, properties of such approximations areused to provide a general framework for the study of stabilityintervals and orders of dispersion of a variety of one- andtwo-step methods. Upper bounds on the intervals of periodicityof explicit methods with maximum order of dispersion are established. It is shown that the order of dispersion of a P-stable method, for given n and m, cannot exceed 2m; a consequence is that,of the Pad? approximants for cos v, only the [0/2m] approximantshave modulus less than unity for all v2 >0. A complete characterizationof P-stable methods of fourth order corresponding to the rationalapproximation R22(v2) is followed by several results for methodswhich have finite intervals of periodicity; in particular, weidentify methods which have order of dispersion 6 or 8 withlarge intervals of periodicity. There is also a detailed discussionof P-stable methods of sixth order corresponding to the rationalapproximation R33(v2).  相似文献

For ordinary differential equations satisfying a one-sided Lipschitzcondition with Lipschitz constant v, the solutions satisfy with l=hv, so that, in the case of Runge-Kutta methods, estimatesof the form ||yn||2k(l)||yn–1||2 are desirable. Burrage(1986) has investigated the behaviour of the error-boundingfunction k for positive l for the family of s-stage Gauss methodsof order 2s, and has shown that k(l)=exp 2l+O(l3) (l0) for s3.In this paper, we extend the analysis of k to any irreduciblealgebraically stable Runge-Kutta method, and obtain resultsabout the maximum order of k as an approximation to exp 2l.As a particular example, we investigate the function k for allalgebraically stable methods of order 2s–1.  相似文献

Under the assumption that the signin the functional equation for L(s, JA) is +1, the criticalvalue L(1, JA) is evaluated in terms of the value of a thetaseries for depending on Aat a complex multiplication point coming from Q(5).  相似文献

Consider an analytic germ f:(Cm, 0)(C, 0) (m3) whose criticallocus is a 2-dimensional complete intersection with an isolatedsingularity (icis). We prove that the homotopy type of the Milnorfiber of f is a bouquet of spheres, provided that the extendedcodimension of the germ f is finite. This result generalizesthe cases when the dimension of the critical locus is zero [8],respectively one [12]. Notice that if the critical locus isnot an icis, then the Milnor fiber, in general, is not homotopicallyequivalent to a wedge of spheres. For example, the Milnor fiberof the germ f:(C4, 0)(C, 0), defined by f(x1, x2, x3, x4) =x1x2x3x4 has the homotopy type of S1xS1xS1. On the other hand, the finiteness of the extended codimension seems to be the rightgeneralization of the isolated singularity condition; see forexample [912, 17, 18]. In the last few years different types of ‘bouquet theorems’have appeared. Some of them deal with germs f:(X, x)(C, 0) wheref defines an isolated singularity. In some cases, similarlyto the Milnor case [8], F has the homotopy type of a bouquetof (dim X–1)-spheres, for example when X is an icis [2],or X is a complete intersection [5]. Moreover, in [13] Siersmaproved that F has a bouquet decomposition FF0Sn...Sn (whereF0 is the complex link of (X, x)), provided that both (X, x)and f have an isolated singularity. Actually, Siersma conjecturedand Tibr proved [16] a more general bouquet theorem for thecase when (X, x) is a stratified space and f defines an isolatedsingularity (in the sense of the stratified spaces). In thiscase FiFi, where the Fi are repeated suspensions of complexlinks of strata of X. (If (X, x) has the ‘Milnor property’,then the result has been proved by Lê; for details see[6].) In our situation, the space-germ (X, x) is smooth, but f hasbig singular locus. Surprisingly, for dim Sing f–1(0)2,the Milnor fiber is again a bouquet (actually, a bouquet ofspheres, maybe of different dimensions). This result is in thespirit of Siersma's paper [12], where dim Sing f–1(0)= 1. In that case, there is only a rather small topologicalobstruction for the Milnor fiber to be homotopically equivalentto a bouquet of spheres (as explained in Corollary 2.4). Inthe present paper, we attack the dim Sing f–1(0) = 2 case.In our investigation some results of Zaharia are crucial [17,18].  相似文献

The interpolation of a planar sequence of points p0, ..., pNby shape-preserving G1 or G2 PH quintic splines with specifiedend conditions is considered. The shape-preservation propertyis secured by adjusting ‘tension’ parameters thatarise upon relaxing parametric continuity to geometric continuity. In the G2 case, the PH spline construction is based on applyingNewton–Raphson iterations to a global system of equations, commencing with a suitable initialization strategy—thisgeneralizes the construction described previously in NumericalAlgorithms 27, 35–60 (2001). As a simpler and cheaperalternative, a shape-preserving G1 PH quintic spline schemeis also introduced. Although the order of continuity is lower, this has the advantage of allowing construction through purelylocal equations.  相似文献

On the Discreteness and Convergence in n-Dimensional Mobius Groups   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Throughout this paper, we adopt the same notations as in [1,6, 8] such as the Möbius group M(Rn), the Clifford algebraCn–1, the Clifford matrix group SL(2, n), the Cliffordnorm of ||A||=(|a|2+|b|2+|c|2+|d|2) (1) and the Clifford metric of SL(2, n) or of the Möbius groupM(Rn) d(A1,A2)=||A1A2||(|a1a2|2+|b1b2|2+|c1c2|2+|d1d2|2)(2) where |·| is the norm of a Clifford number and represents fi M(), i = 1,2, and so on. In addition, we adopt some notions in [6, 12]:the elementary group, the uniformly bounded torsion, and soon. For example, the definition of the uniformly bounded torsionis as follows.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to explain how to compute the rangeof possible values of a function of one variable, f(x), givenvalues of the function at n distinct points x1 < x2 <... < xM–1 < xM, and given a finite bound on thekth derivative of f: ||f(k)|| L, 1 k n.  相似文献

We prove that any (real or complex) analytic horizontally conformalsubmersion from a three-dimensional conformal manifold (M3,cM) to a two-dimensional conformal manifold (N2, cN) can be,locally, ‘extended’ to a unique harmonic morphismfrom the (eaven)-space (H4, g) of (M3, cN) to (N2, cN). Moreover, any positive harmonic morphism with two-dimensional fibres from(H4, g) is obtained in this way.  相似文献

The Natural Morphisms between Toeplitz Algebras on Discrete Groups   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Let G be a discrete group and (G, G+) be a quasi-ordered group.Set G+(G+)–1 and G1= (G+\){e}. Let FG1(G) andFG+(G) be the corresponding Toeplitz algebras. In the paper,a necessary and sufficient condition for a representation ofFG+(G) to be faithful is given. It is proved that when G isabelian, there exists a natural C*-algebra morphism from FG1(G)to FG+(G). As an application, it is shown that when G = Z2 andG+ = Z+ x Z, the K-groups K0(FG1(G)) Z2, K1(FG1(G)) Z andall Fredholm operators in FG1(G) are of index zero.  相似文献

Hypersurfaces in a Unit Sphere Sn+1(1) with Constant Scalar Curvature   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
The paper considers n-dimensional hypersurfaces with constantscalar curvature of a unit sphere Sn–1(1). The hypersurfaceSk(c1)xSnk(c2) in a unit sphere Sn+1(1) is characterized, and it is shown that there exist many compact hypersurfaceswith constant scalar curvature in a unit sphere Sn+1(1) whichare not congruent to each other in it. In particular, it isproved that if M is an n-dimensional (n > 3) complete locallyconformally flat hypersurface with constant scalar curvaturen(n–1)r in a unit sphere Sn+1(1), then r > 1–2/n,and (1) when r (n–2)/(n–1), if then M is isometric to S1xSn–1(c),where S is the squared norm of the second fundamental form ofM; (2) there are no complete hypersurfaces in Sn+1(1) with constantscalar curvature n(n–1)r and with two distinct principalcurvatures, one of which is simple, such that r = (n–2)/(n–1)and   相似文献

It is shown that, if is an isomorphism between semisimple weightedmeasure algebras M(w1) and M(w2), then maps L1(R+, w1) ontoL1(R+, w2). This is used to describe all the automorphisms ofM(R+, w). A necessary and sufficient condition is given forM(w1) and M(w2) to be isomorphic.  相似文献
