We report the studies on quasi-solid battery-supercapacitor (BatCap) systems fabricated using sol–gel-prepared LiFePO4 and its composites (LACs) with activated charcoal (AC) as hybrid cathode and Li4Ti5O12 powder as anode separator by flexible gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) film. The GPE film comprises 1.0 M lithium trifluoromethane sulfonate (LiTf) solution in ethylene carbonate (EC)–propylene carbonate (PC) mixture, immobilized poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoro-propylene) (PVdF-HFP), which is of high ionic conductivity (∼3.8 × 10−3 S cm−1 at 25 °C) and electrochemical stability window (∼3 V). The effect of the addition of AC in composite electrode LACs has been analyzed using various techniques such as X-ray diffraction, porosity analysis, and electrochemical methods. The interfaces of composite LACs and GPE film not only offer high rate performance but also show high specific energy (>27.8 Wh kg−1) as compared to the symmetric supercapacitors and pristine lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4)-based lithium ion batteries. The full BatCap systems have been characterized by cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge–discharge tests. The BatCap systems with composite electrodes (LACs) offer better cyclic performance as compared to that of pristine LiFePO4-based BatCap or LIB LiFePO4/Li4Ti5O12.

LiCoO2 particles were synthesized by a sol-gel process. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the prepared sample is a single phase with layered structure. A hybrid electrochemical capacitor was fabricated with LiCoO2 as a positive electrode and activated carbon (AC) as a negative electrode in various aqueous electrolytes. Pseudo-capacitive properties of the LiCoO2/AC electrochemical capacitor were determined by cyclic voltammetry, charge–discharge test, and electrochemical impedance measurement. The charge storage mechanism of the LiCoO2-positive electrode in aqueous electrolyte was discussed, too. The results showed that the potential range, scan rate, species of aqueous electrolyte, and current density had great effect on capacitive properties of the hybrid capacitor. In the potential range of 0–1.4 V, it delivered a discharge specific capacitance of 45.9 Fg–1 (based on the active mass of the two electrodes) at a current density of 100 mAg–1 in 1 molL–1 Li2SO4 aqueous electrolyte. The specific capacitance remained 41.7 Fg–1 after 600 cycles.  相似文献

In this research, polyacrylamide/Ag composite is synthesized and used as an electrode in an electrochemical capacitor (EC). The characterization of the composite is performed by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and cyclic voltammetry methods. The electrochemical characterization is conducted in an electrolytic solution of KOH and an electrolytic solution of Na2SO4. The capacitance of the polyacrylamide/Ag composite is associated mainly with the reduction/oxidation of Ag. The specific capacitance of the EC using the KOH electrolyte is 950 Fg?1, which is better than the capacitance in the Na2SO4 electrolyte. This behavior is explained by the respective physical characteristics of the two electrolytes.  相似文献

Nano-composite olivine LiMnPO4 (nC-LMP) was found to exhibit facile pseudo-capacitive characteristics in aqueous as well as non-aqueous electrolytes. We demonstrated employing nC-LMP as positive electrode in hybrid electrochemical capacitors namely Li-Ion hybrid capacitors (LIC). Adapting a simple CVD technique, nano-crystallites of LiMnPO4 were coated with carbon monolayers of ∼2 nm thick to circumvent its poor intrinsic electronic conductivity. The novelty is that the single crystallites were intimately covered with carbon ring and networked to the neighboring crystallites via the continuous carbon wire-like connectivity as revealed from HRTEM analysis. Single electrode faradic capacitance of 3025 Fg−1 (versus standard calomel reference electrode) was deduced for carbon coated LMP, the highest reported hitherto in Li+ aqueous electrolytes. Employing nC-LMP as working electrode versus an activated carbon (AC), we obtained a high specific energy of 28.8 Wh kg−1 with appreciable stability in aqueous electrolytes whereas in nonaqueous electrolyte there is an obvious increase in energy density (35 Wh kg−1) due to wider potential window. That is, a full cell version of LIC, AC|Li+|LMP, was fabricated and demonstrated its facile cycling characteristics via removal/insertion of Li+ within nC-LMP (positive electrode) and the electrosorption of Li+ into mesoporous carbon (AC) (negative electrode). Such cells ensured a typical battery-like charging and EDLC-like discharging characteristics of LIC type electrochemical capacitors (ECs) which are desired to enhance safety and energy densities.

LiFePO4-positive electrode material was successfully synthesized by a solid-state method, and the effect of storage temperatures on kinetics of lithium-ion insertion for LiFePO4-positive electrode material was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The charge-transfer resistance of LiFePO4 electrode decreases with increasing the storage temperatures. This suggests that it has a high electrochemical activity at high temperature. The diffusion coefficient of lithium ion is greatly increased with increasing the storage temperatures, indicating that the kinetics of Li+ and electron transfer into the electrodes were much fast at high storage temperature.  相似文献

The stability of LiFePO4 in water was investigated. Changes upon exposure to water can have several important implications for storage conditions of LiFePO4, aqueous processing of LiFePO4-based composite electrodes, and eventually for utilisation in aqueous lithium batteries. A Li3PO4 layer of a few nanometers thick was characterised at the LiFePO4 grains surface after immersion in water, accompanied by an increase of FeIII percentage in the grains. For first charge–discharge cycles in a lithium battery, no effect was observed on electrochemical performances for a sample of LiFePO4 immersed for 24 h at a concentration of 50 g L−1 without any pH modification. To limit the aging of LiFePO4 during aqueous electrode processing, it is advised to reduce the immersion duration, to concentrate the LiFePO4 suspensions, and not to modify the pH. In addition, since immersion in water mimics an accelerated exposure to air humidity, LiFePO4 should be stored in a dry atmosphere. Spherical LiFePO4/C powders were synthesized by the conventional solid-state reaction method via Ni doping. Low-cost asphalt was used as both the reduction agent and the carbon source. An Ni-doped spherical LiFePO4/C composite exhibited better electrochemical performances compared to an un-doped one. It presented an initial discharge capacity of 161 mAhg−1 at 0.1 C rate (the theoretical capacity of LiFePO4 with 5 wt% carbon is about 161 mAhg−1). After 50 cycles at 0.5 C rate, its capacity remained 137 mAhg−1 (100% of the initial capacity) compared to 115 mAhg−1 (92% of the initial capacity) for an un-doped one. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis and cyclic voltammograms results revealed that Ni doping could decrease the resistance of LiFePO4/C composite electrode drastically and improve its reversibility.  相似文献

Mg-doping effects on the electrochemical property of LiFePO4–Li3V2(PO4)3 composite materials, a mutual-doping system, are investigated. X-ray diffraction study indicates that Mg doping decreases the cell volume of LiFePO4 in the composite. The cyclic voltammograms reveal that the reversibility of the electrode reaction and the diffusion of lithium ion is enhanced by Mg doping. Mg doping also improves the conductivity and rate capacity of 7LiFePO4–Li3V2(PO4)3 composite material and decreases the polarization of the electrode reaction. The discharge capacity of the Mg-doped composite was 93 mAh?g?1 at the current density of 1,500 mA?g?1, and Mg-doped composite has better discharge performance than the original 7LiFePO4–Li3V2(PO4)3 composite at low temperature, too. At ?30 °C, the discharge capacity of Mg-doped LFVP is 89 mAh?g?1, higher than that of the original composite. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy study shows that Mg2+ doping could enhance the electrochemical activity of 7LiFePO4–Li3V2(PO4)3 composite. Mg doping has a positive influence on the electrochemical performance of the LiFePO4–Li3V2(PO4)3 composite material.  相似文献

A study of LiFePO4-based electrodes prepared through various synthesis conditions is presented. From X-Ray diffraction, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, electrochemical Li+ extraction/insertion and electrical conductivity data we conclude that the use of starting precursors such as Li2CO3, FeC2O4·2H2O and/or Nb(OC6H5)5 produces LiFePO4-based composites containing significant amounts of carbon. We never succeeded in doping LiFePO4 with Nb to yield Li1−xNbxFePO4 but produced, instead, crystalline β-NbOPO4 and/or an amorphous (Nb, Fe, C, O, P) “cobweb” around LiFePO4 particles which is responsible for superior electrochemical activity. AC-conductivity measurements conclude to a total electrical conductivity of ∼10 9 S cm 1 at 25 °C with an activation energy of ca. 0.65 eV for pure LiFePO4 and LiFePO4/β-NbOPO4 composites. C-containing LiFePO4 samples, including those that were tentatively but unsuccessfully doped with Nb, are much more conductive (up to 1.6 · 10 1 S cm 1) with an activation energy ΔE∼0.08 eV.  相似文献

Effect of micron-sized MgO particles dispersion on poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF–HFP) based magnesium-ion (Mg2+) conducting gel polymer electrolyte has been studied using various electrical and electrochemical techniques. The composite gel films are free-standing and flexible with enough mechanical strength. The optimized composition with 10 wt% MgO particles offers a maximum electrical conductivity of ∼6×10−3 S cm−1 at room temperature (∼25°C). The Mg2+ ion conduction in gel film is confirmed from cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy and transport number measurements. The applicability of the composite gel electrolyte to a rechargeable battery system has been examined by fabricating a prototype cell consisting of Mg (or Mg–MWCNT composite) and V2O5 as negative and positive electrodes, respectively. The rechargeability of the cell has been improved, when Mg metal was substituted by Mg–MWCNT composite as negative electrode.  相似文献

Sensors with solid electrolytes provide the possibility of correct and fast measurements of partial pressures of various gases. By modification of the solid electrolyte, sensors with specific performances may be manufactured. Layers of Na+-, Li+-, Ca2+- and Sr2+-β“-alumina on top of polycrystalline α-alumina substrates were produced by an in-situ formation process and were used as solid electrolytes for CO2 and SOx sensors. Carbonates and sulphates were applied as measuring electrodes and oxidic mixtures of SiO2 and silicates were used as reference electrodes. The different performance of these sensors was investigated over a wide temperature range and the results were compared with theoretical data. Different solid electrolyte / electrode combinations were applied, which all showed different characteristic cross sensitivities against water and organic components. Solid polymer electrolytes consisted of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blend (50:50 wt/wt%) with lithium triflate (LiCF3SO3) as a dopant ionic salt at stoichiometric ratio [EO + (CO)]:Li+ = 9:1, poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as plasticizer (10 wt%) and montmorillonite (MMT) clay as nanofiller (3 wt%) have been prepared by solution cast followed by melt–pressing method. The X–ray diffraction study infers that the (PEO–PMMA)–LiCF3SO3 electrolyte is predominantly amorphous, but (PEO–PMMA)–LiCF3SO3–10 wt% PEG electrolyte has some PEO crystalline cluster, whereas (PEO–PMMA)–LiCF3SO3–10 wt% PEG–3 wt% MMT electrolyte is an amorphous with intercalated and exfoliated MMT structures. The complex dielectric function, ac electrical conductivity, electric modulus and impedance spectra of these electrolytes have been investigated over the frequency range 20 Hz to 1 MHz. These spectra have been analysed in terms of the contribution of electrode polarization phenomenon in the low frequency region and the dynamics of cations coordinated polymer chain segments in the high frequency region, and also their variation on the addition of PEG and MMT in the electrolytes. The temperature dependent dc ionic conductivity, dielectric relaxation time and dielectric strength of the plasticized nanocomposite electrolyte obey the Arrhenius behaviour. The mechanism of ions transportation and the dependence of ionic conductivity on the segmental motion of polymer chain, dielectric strength, and amorphicity of these electrolytes have been explored. The room temperature ionic conductivity values of the electrolytes are found ∼10−5 S cm−1, confirming their use in preparation of all-solid-state ion conducting devices.  相似文献

Spinel-Li4Ti5O12 is successfully synthesized by a solid phase synthesis. The Li4Ti5O12 powders with various dopants (Al3+, Cr3+, Mg2+) synthesized at 800 °C are in accordance with the Li4Ti5O12 cubic spinel phase structure. The dopants are inserted into the lattice structure of Li4Ti5O12 without causing any changes in structural characteristics. In order to study the effect on various dopants, the hybrid supercapacitor is prepared by using un-doped Li4Ti5O12 and doped Li4Ti5O12 in this work. The electrochemical performance of the hybrid supercapacitor is characterized by impedance spectroscopy and cycle performance. The results show Cr3+ and Mg2+ dopants enhance the conductivity of Li4Ti5O12. Also, Al3+ substitution improves the reversible capacity and cycling stability of Li4Ti5O12. It is found that effect of dopant on the electrochemical performance of Li4Ti5O12 as electrode material for hybrid supercapacitor where the EDLC and the Li ion secondary battery coexist in one cell system.  相似文献

In the present study X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) combined with in situ electrochemical and Kelvin probe measurements was used in order to get a deeper insight on the mechanism of the cation transport through NaY zeolite and the charge transfer through the Au electrode/zeolite interface. It is shown that by imposing a potential gradient across the NaY powder which is sandwiched between two electrodes, Na+ ions can be electrically transferred to or from the Au working electrode area, following the direction of the applied potential between the two electrodes. Two peaks corresponding to sodium species were detected by means of in situ XPS investigation during potential application. The first peak of Na1s photoelectrons with binding energy at 1072.2 ± 0.2 eV is attributed to Na adsorbed on the grounded Au electrode with its coverage remaining unchanged upon potential imposition. The second peak is directly associated with Na present in the zeolite and upon potential application its binding energy varies proportionally with the variation of the surface potential measured by Kelvin probe. Upon varying the potential from − 4 to + 4 V between the working and counter electrode, the Na+ concentration decreases by ca30% at the Au/zeolite interface. However the invariant amount of Na on the Au electrode under vacuum shows that the variation in Na+ concentration is not due to ionic transfer onto the Au surface but instead Na+ accumulation can be assumed at the Au/zeolite interface. On the other hand, current or potential application under O2 atmosphere promotes the electrocatalytic reaction of Na+ towards the formation of Na2O on the Au electrode surface.  相似文献

The extraordinary stability and cycle life performance of today’s electrochemical double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) are generally ascribed to the fact that charge storage in activated carbon (AC) is based on pure double-layer charging. In contrast, Faradaic charge-transfer reactions like those occurring in batteries are often connected with dimensional changes, which can affect the cycle life of these storage devices. Here we report the charge-induced height change of an AC electrode in an aprotic electrolyte solution, 1 mol/l (C2H5)4NBF4 (TEABF4) in acetonitrile. The results are compared with those obtained for a graphite electrode in the same electrolyte. For both electrodes, we observe an expansion/contraction of several percent for a potential window of ±2 V vs. the immersion potential (ip). For the EDLC electrode, significant expansion starts at about 1 V remote from the ip and hence is well within the normal EDLC operation range. For the graphite electrode, the height changes are unambiguously caused by intercalation/deintercalation of both anions and cations. The close analogies between the graphite and the EDLC electrode suggest that ion intercalation or insertion processes might play a major role for charge storage, self discharge, cyclability, and the voltage limitation of EDLCs. To further improve the electrochemical performance of LiFePO4/C, Nd doping has been adopted for cathode material of the lithium ion batteries. The Nd-doped LiFePO4/C cathode was synthesized by a novel solid-state reaction method at 750 °C without using inert gas. The Li0.99Nd0.01FePO4/C composite has been systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction, EDS, SEM, TEM, charge/discharge test, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and cyclic stability. The results indicate that the prepared sample has olivine structure and the Nd3+ and carbon modification do not affect the structure of the sample but improve its kinetics in terms of discharge capacity and rate capability. The Li0.99Nd0.01FePO4/C powder exhibited a specific initial discharge capacity of about 161 mAh g− 1 at 0.1 C rate, as compared to 143 mAh g− 1 of LiFePO4/C. At a high rate of 2 C, the discharge capacity of Li0.99Nd0.01FePO4/C still attained to 115 mAh g− 1 at the end of 20 cycles. EIS results indicate that the charge transfer resistance of LiFePO4/C decreases greatly after Nd doping.  相似文献

Glassy solid electrolytes were prepared by combining the 50Li2SO4·50Li3BO3 (mol%) ionic glass and the 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([EMI]BF4) ionic liquid. High-energy ball milling was carried out for the mixture of the inorganic ionic glass and the organic ionic liquid. The ambient temperature conductivity of the glass electrolyte with 10 mol% [EMI]BF4 was 10−4 S cm−1, which was three orders of magnitude higher than that of the 50Li2SO4·50Li3BO3 glass. The addition of [EMI]BF4 to the ionic glass decreased glass transition temperature (Tg) of the glass and the decrease of Tg is closely related to the enhancement of conductivity of the glass. Morphology and local structure of the glass electrolyte was characterized. The dissolution of an ionic liquid in an ionic glass with Li+ ion conductivity is a novel way to developing glass electrolytes for all-solid-state lithium secondary batteries.  相似文献

A fabrication of all-solid-state thin-film rechargeable lithium ion batteries by sol-gel method is expected to achieve both the simplification and cost reduction for fabrication process. TiO2 thin film electrode was prepared by PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone) sol-gel method combined with spin-coating on Li1 + xAlxGe2 − x(PO4)3 (LAGP) solid electrolyte which has wide electrochemical window. The thin film was composed of anatase TiO2 that is the most active phase for Li insertion and extraction and contacted well with LAGP substrate. In the cyclic voltammogram, a redox couple was observed at 1.8 V vs. Li/Li+ assigned to Li insertion/extraction into/from anatase TiO2, indicating that the thin film worked as electrode for lithium battery. The charge and discharge test in various charge and discharge rates revealed that the discharge process (delithiation) is thought to be faster than charge process (lithiation). It is attested that the sol-gel process, which derives both simplification and cost reduction for fabrication process, can be applied to thin film battery using LAGP solid electrolyte.  相似文献

5LiFePO4⋅Li3V2(PO4)3/C composite cathode material is synthesized by a polyethylene glycol (PEG)-assisted rheological phase method. As a surfactant and dispersing agent, PEG can effectively inhabit the aggregation of colloidal particles during the formation of the gel. Meanwhile, PEG will coat on the particles to play the role of carbon source during the sintering. The samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy, and electrochemical methods. XRD results indicate that the 5LiFePO4⋅Li3V2(PO4)3/C composites are well crystallized and contain olivine-type LiFePO4 and monoclinic Li3V2(PO4)3 phases. The composite synthesized at 650 °C exhibits the initial discharge capacities of 134.8 and 129.9 mAh g−1 and the capacity retentions of 96.2 and 97.1 % after 50 cycles at 1C and 2C rates, respectively.  相似文献
