Phase field method based on Cahn–Hilliard free energy formulation is adopted for predicting the behavior of double emulsion droplet suspended in a continuous phase under the influence of a uniform electric field. The role played by the inner droplet on the electric-field-driven fluid flow, and also on deformation of the outer droplet is predicted by present numerical simulation. Three different kind of deformation type of outer and inner droplet (prolate–oblate, prolate–prolate and oblate–prolate) has been observed. With increase in the volume fraction of inner drop, transition in the deformation of outer drop from prolate to oblate occurs at lower value of fluid permittivity ratio.  相似文献

Solutions for the problem on the equilibrium configurations of uncharged conducting liquid jets in a transverse electric field are obtained. These solutions correspond to finite-amplitude non-axisymmetric azimuthal deformations of the surface of a round jet: the jet is stretched along the field in its cross-section. The range of electric fields is determined for which solutions of the problem exist. If the electric field strength is over some critical value, the electrostatic equations have no solution, and the jet splits. The obtained solutions are qualitatively examined for stability under small azimuthal perturbations.  相似文献

The decay-rate of an eigenstate into the continuum is calculated in a simple 1-dimensional model, when a small uniform electric field is switched on. A new treatment of the problem of a two-dimensional Wannier-Mott exciton in a uniform electric field, based on the parabolic coordinates, is presented. The quasi-stationary Hamiltonian is regularized, and the efficient numerical methods are applied. The dependence of the exciton binding energy on the electric field is computed. We study the variation of electronic properties for armchair-edge phosphorene nanoribbons (APNRs) modulated by a transverse electric field. Within the tight-binding model Hamiltonian, and by solving the differential Schrödinger equation, we find that a band gap closure appears at the critical field due to the giant Stark effect for an APNR. The gap closure has no field polarity, and the gap varies quadratically for small fields but becomes linear for larger ones. We attribute the giant Stark effect to the broken edge degeneracy, i.e., the charge redistributions of the conduction band minimum and valence band maximum states localized at opposite edges induced by the field. By combined with the Green's function approach, it is shown that in the presence of the critical field a gap of density of states (DOS) disappears and a high value DOS turns up at the energy position of the band gap closure. Finally, as the field increases, we find the band gap decreases more rapidly and the gap closure occurs at smaller fields for wider ribbons. Both the band gap and DOS variations with the field show an insulator-metal transition induced by a transverse electric field for the APNR. Our results show that wider APNRs are more appreciable to design field-effect transistors.  相似文献

The deformations of a real dielectric droplet subjected to a uniform alternating electric field and immersed in an insulating fluid are numerically studied by the Boundary Element Method. The alternating electric field time scale is taken much smaller than the hydrodynamic time scale of the droplet shape deformation. The influence of the frequency and the conductivity of the droplet upon the critical electric field, beyond which instabilities develop, are compared with the experimental measurements. Numerical results well account for experimental data while an unexpected good correspondence with Taylor's theory is found.  相似文献

The results of simulation of the current channel microstructure formation in atmospheric nano- second discharges in a uniform electric field due to the development of instability of the ionization process in the avalanche stage followed by cycling breakdowns of the avalanche are considered. It is shown that the enhancement of the electric field at the ionization front due to the intrinsic field of the avalanche leads to the contraction of the path length between consecutive avalanche breakups; after several breakups, the ionized gas passes to the plasma state. The effect of small electric field perturbations on the dynamics of microstructure formation is investigated; as a result, the possibility of “induced” avalanche breakup at the instant of action of perturbations is established.  相似文献

A method has been proposed for determining the electrical parameters of a plasma in a transverse magnetic field in the absence of negative charge at the dielectric walls. 采用简单的数值计算方法研究了均匀横向磁场条件下通过抛物量子阱结构的共振隧穿。计算了几种GaAs-AlxGa1-xAs-GaAs抛物阱结构的透射系数。结果表明:磁场增加时,共振峰向高能区移动,新的共振峰出现;同时讨论了回旋中心在不同位置时,抛物阱结构的J-V 特性。我们发现回旋中心在抛物阱中心时更有助于解释实验,并且能够得到和实验一致的结果:磁场增加,电流峰值减少且向高偏压移动。  相似文献

利用闭合轨道理论,计算了氢负离子在均匀电场和金属面附近的光剥离截面.结果表明,在均匀电场的基础上加上金属面之后,在电离阈附近氢负离子的光剥离截面发生了很大的变化,和仅有均匀电场存在时的光剥离截面相比,截面的振荡幅度增大,振荡频率减小.并且在电场强度相同时,随着金属面与氢负离子距离的不断增大,光剥离截面振荡的幅度不断减小,振荡的频率不断增大,当金属面和氢负离子的距离增大到一定值时,金属面的影响消失,氢负离子的光剥离截面趋近于只有电场存在时的情况.这一结果对于研究负离子体系在界面附近的光剥离问题具有一定的参考价值.  相似文献
