One common problem in spectral graph theory is to determine which graphs, under some prescribed constraints, maximize or minimize the spectral radius of the adjacency matrix. Here we consider minimizers in the set of bidegreed, or biregular, graphs with pendant vertices and given degree sequence. In this setting, we consider a particular graph perturbation whose effect is to decrease the spectral radius. Hence we restrict the structure of minimizers for k-cyclic degree sequences. 相似文献

The article gives a thorough introduction to spectra of digraphs via its Hermitian adjacency matrix. This matrix is indexed by the vertices of the digraph, and the entry corresponding to an arc from x to y is equal to the complex unity i (and its symmetric entry is ) if the reverse arc is not present. We also allow arcs in both directions and unoriented edges, in which case we use 1 as the entry. This allows to use the definition also for mixed graphs. This matrix has many nice properties; it has real eigenvalues and the interlacing theorem holds for a digraph and its induced subdigraphs. Besides covering the basic properties, we discuss many differences from the properties of eigenvalues of undirected graphs and develop basic theory. The main novel results include the following. Several surprising facts are discovered about the spectral radius; some consequences of the interlacing property are obtained; operations that preserve the spectrum are discussed—they give rise to a large number of cospectral digraphs; for every , all digraphs whose spectrum is contained in the interval are determined. 相似文献

We study extremal graphs for the extremal values of the second largest Q-eigenvalue of a connected graph. We first characterize all simple connected graphs with second largest signless Laplacian eigenvalue at most 3. The second part of the present paper is devoted to the study of the graphs that maximize the second largest Q-eigenvalue. We construct families of such graphs and prove that some of theses families are minimal for the fact that they maximize the second largest signless Laplacian eigenvalue. 相似文献

In this paper, we give a lower bound on the distance signless Laplacian spectral radius of graphs and characterize graphs for which these bounds are best possible. We obtain a lower bound on the second largest distance signless Laplacian eigenvalue of graphs. A connected graph G =(V, E) is called a quasi-tree graph, if there exists a vertex v_0 ∈ V(G) such that G-v_0 is a tree. Liu and Lu [Linear Algebra Appl. 428(2008) 2708-2714] determined the maximal spectral radius together with the corresponding graph among all quasi-tree graphs on n vertices. In this paper we focus on connected signed graphs of fixed number of vertices, positive edges and negative edges that maximize the largest eigenvalue (also called the index) of their adjacency matrix. In the first step we determine these signed graphs in the set of signed generalized theta graphs. Concerning the general case, we use the eigenvector techniques for getting some structural properties of resulting signed graphs. In particular, we prove that positive edges induce nested split subgraphs, while negative edges induce double nested signed subgraphs. We observe that our concept can be applied when considering balancedness of signed graphs (the property that is extensively studied in both mathematical and non-mathematical context). 相似文献
