TheSU(N) Yang-Mills equations are considered in a four-dimensional Euclidean box with periodic boundary conditions (hypertorus). Gauge-invariant twists can be introduced in these boundary conditions, to be labeled with integersn (= –n ), defined moduloN. The Pontryagin number in this space is often fractional. Whenever this number is zero there are solutions to the equationsG =0 HereG is the covariant curl. When this number is not zero we find a set of solutions to the equations , provided that the periodsa of the box satisfy certain relations.Work supported in part by the US Department of Energy under Contract No. DE-AC-03-76ER 00068 and by the Fairchild FoundationOn leave from the Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Utrecht, P.O. The effects of surfaces on percolation are investigated near the bulk percolation threshold ind=6– dimensions. Using field-theoretic methods, this is done within the framework of a semi-infinite continuousq-state Potts model withq1. Renormalization-group equations are obtained which imply that the usual scaling laws for surface and bulk exponents are valid to all orders in , and the surface exponents at the ordinary and special transition are computed to order . Our result for 1 ord is in conformity with the one by Carton.  相似文献

Once the action for Einstein's equations is rewritten as a functional of anSO(3, ) connection and a conformal factor of the metric, it admits a family of neighbours having the same number of degrees of freedom and a precisely defined metric tensor. This paper analyzes the relation between the Riemann tensor of that metric and the curvature tensor of theSO(3) connection. The relation is very complicated in general. The Einstein case is distinguished by the fact that two naturalSO(3) metrics on theGL(3) fibres coincide. In the general case the theory is bimetric on the fibres.  相似文献

Let t be an analytic solution of the Schrödinger equation with the initial condition . Let t be the solution of the Schrödinger equation with the initial condition =, where is an analytic function. When 0, then t (x) t (x)1 ( t (x)), where t (x) trajectory starting from x. We relate this result to Feynman's sum over trajectories and complex stochastic differential equations.  相似文献

We consider the thermodynamic pressurep(, ) of a classical system of particles with the two-body interaction potentialq(r)+ v K(r), where is the number of space dimensions, is a positive parameter, and is the chemical potential. The temperature is not shown in the notation. We prove rigorously, for hard-core potentialsq(r) and for a very general class of functionsK(s), that the limit 0 of the pressurep(, ) exists and is given by where the limit and the supremum can be interchanged. Here is a certain class of nonnegative, Riemann integrable functions,D is a cube of volume |D|, anda 0() is the free energy density of a system withK=0 and density . A similar result is proved for the free energy.  相似文献

The density of Yang-Lee zeros in the thermodynamic limit is discussed for ferromagnetic spherical models of general dimensionalities and arbitrary range of interaction. In all cases the zeros lie on the imaginary axis in the complex magnetic field planeH=H+iH with a density (H) that exhibits a square root singularity(H) (H-H 0), with=1/2, as the edge of the gap atH=H 0(T) is approached forT>T c. WhenTT c one hasH 0(T)(TT c ) with critical exponent=+.Supported by the National Science Foundation in part through the Materials Science Center at Cornell University.  相似文献

Let U(a, ) be a representation of the Poincaré group with mass and helicity zero, realized in the space of C -functions with compact support on 3, without the origin. Let U (2)(a, ) denote the tensorial product of U(a, ) by itself. We explicitly determine the cocycles of extension of U(a, ) by U (2)(a, ) and we prove that the nontrivial cohomology is indexed by (u(),),u()D 1 ]0,3\,.  相似文献

Electron rest-frame internal canonical coordinates are reobtained by the free-particle Foldy-Wouthuysen transformation: Schrödinger microscopic momentum, Barut-Bracken microscopic coordinate, and the rest Hamiltonian, which describe Zitterbewegung in this frame.SO(4, 1) Snyder space-time invariant quantization is considered in order to construct a dynamical group for Zitterbewegung. The electron's internal structure appears associated with its secondorder self-energy process and governed by the 15-parameter dynamical groupSO(5, 1). This is a generalization of Barut-Bracken symmetry which describes Zitterbewegung as generated by an algebra of the rotation groupSO(5). This noncompact symmetrySO(5, 1) permits a natural interpretation for the operators of its algebra and introduces a generalization to higher-dimensional fermionic representations.  相似文献

We analyze the limiting behavior of the densities A(t) and B(t), and the random spatial structure(r) = ( A(t)., B(t)), for the diffusion-controlled chemical reaction A+Binert. For equal initial densities B(0) = b(0) there is a change in behavior fromd 4, where A(t) = B(t) C/td/4, tod 4, where A(t) = b(t) C/t ast ; the termC depends on the initial densities and changes withd. There is a corresponding change in the spatial structure. Ind < 4, the particle types separate with only one type present locally, and , after suitable rescaling, tends to a random Gaussian process. Ind >4, both particle types are, after large times, present locally in concentrations not depending on type or location. Ind=4, both particle types are present locally, but with random concentrations, and the process tends to a limit.  相似文献

In this paper, A novel wavelength divison multiplexing (WDM) nets is proposed by use of cascaded second-order nonlinearities ((2):(2)) in the D-fiber grating after periodically thermal/electric-field poling, and is theoretically analyzed for the first time. The coupled mode equations of the (2):(2) nonlinearities are derived, and the analytic expressions for the electric-field amplitude of converted light wave and the conversion efficiency are obtained under the small signal approximation, which are well consistent with numerical calculations. Both analytic expressions and numerical results show that, under the phase matching, is proportional to the logarithm of the square of pump light power, and the 4th power of the grating length L and the second-order nonlinearity d. The calculated results also show that and of this fiber grating can be reached over -17dB and 120nm, respectively. With the increase of L, increases rapidly while decreases quickly. The results of simulated calculations and theoretical analysis show that the cascaded (2):(2) process is different from quasi-phases-matched difference-frequency generation.  相似文献

We demonstrate with the example of Cahn-Hilliard dynamics that the macroscopic kinetics of first-order phase transitions exhibits an infinite number of constants of motion. Moreover, this result holds in any space dimension for a broad class of nonequilibrium processes whose macroscopic behavior is governed by equations of the form /t = W(), where is an order parameter,W is an arbitrary function of , and is a linear Hermitian operator. We speculate on the implications of this result.  相似文献

Monte Carlo simulation and series expansion shows the radius of gyration of large clusters withs sites each to vary ass with0.56 in two and0.47 in three dimensions at the percolation threshold, and with(d=2)0.65 and(d=3)0.53 for random lattice animals (zero concentration). Clusters up tos=100 were used. The perimeter of random animals approaches 2.8s for larges on the simple cubic lattice. Monte Carlo simulation of the Eden process (growing animals) up tos=5,000 indicates a systematic variation of about ±0.05 for the effective exponent=(s) and thus suggests that the true asymptotic exponents may be compatible with the predictions of hyper-scaling.  相似文献

The exact analytic result is obtained for the Fourier transform of the generating functionF(R,s)= n=0 s n P(R,n), whereP(R,n) is the probability density for the end-to-end distanceR inn steps of a random walk with persistence. The moments R 2(n), R 4(n), and R 6(n) are calculated and approximate results forP(R,n) and R –1(n) are given.  相似文献

From the eigenvalue equationH \ n () =E n ()\ n () withH H 0 +V one can derive an autonomous system of first order differential equations for the eigenvaluesE n () and the matrix elementsV mn () where is the independent variable. To solve the dynamical system we need the initial valuesE n ( = 0) and \ n ( = 0). Thus one finds the motion of the energy levelsE n (). We discuss the question of energy level crossing. Furthermore we describe the connection with the stationary state perturbation theory. The dependence of the survival probability as well as some thermodynamic quantities on is derived. This means we calculate the differential equations which these quantities obey. Finally we derive the equations of motion for the extended caseH =H 0 +V 1 + 2 V 2 and give an application to a supersymmetric Hamiltonian.  相似文献

Asymptotic properties of a real scalar self-interacting classical field depending on one variablez = t 2x 2 are studied. A slight modification of the recent Penrose and Lebowitz treatment of thermodynamic metastable states is presented. For the case of periodic boundary conditions, this modification allows the condition of metastability to be extended to all the metastable states in the van der Waals-Maxwell theory of the liquid-vapor phase transition, that is, for all states satisfyingf 0()+1/2 2>f(, 0+) andf0()+x>0 wheref(, 0+) is the (stable) Helmholtz free energy density of the generalized van der Waals-Maxwell theory andf 0() is the Helmholtz free energy density of a reference system with no long-range interaction, is a mean field-type term arising from a long-range Kac interaction, is the overall mean particle density, andx is any positive number. For the case of rigid-wall boundary conditions, a more restrictive condition is placed onx.  相似文献

Using conditional Brownian motion and the transformation of drift formula (of Cameron-Martin, Girsarov, Maruyama) we give integral conditions on a vector fieldb which imply the harmonic measures and Green functions for 1/2 and 1/2+b(·)· on a bounded Lipschitz domainD are equivalent. By equivalent we mean there exist two-sided inequalities with constants depending only onb andD. This enables one to conclude the potential theory for 1/2+b(·)· onD and 1/2 onD are the same.  相似文献
