This study proposes a bi-layer windmill-shaped metamaterial that consists of resonators, with similar shapes, on both sides of a dielectric substrate. In this study, the second layer is rotated clockwise around the substrate normal at 90° and thereafter flipped in the first layer. Due to the introduction of a windmill-like shape, the resonant structures result in new resonant modes and thus can achieve multi-band high-efficiency cross-polarization conversions and asymmetric transmissions (ATs) for a linearly polarized incident plane wave with a maximum asymmetric parameter of 0.72. Depending on the geometric parameters of our windmill-shaped structures, the AT effects can be flexibly modulated in a broad multi-band from 160 THz to 400 THz, which has not been reported in previous studies. These outstanding AT effects provide potential applications in optical diodes, polarization control switches, and other nano-devices.  相似文献

Inspired by the chiral structure from mode interaction, a chiral terahertz metamaterial and its complementary structure with the coexistence of asymmetric transmission and circular dichroism response are designed. The asymmetric transmission happens in the presence of electric and magnetic modes perpendicular to each other, resulting from intrinsic chirality under normal incidence. Circular dichroism exists in the presence of electric and magnetic modes parallel to each other under oblique incidence because of extrinsic chirality. Both asymmetric transmission and circular dichroism are enhanced by complementary structures, benefitting from the coupling between adjacent units. The maximum of chiral parameter κ can achieve 450, which is one hundred times higher than previously reported. The chiral response can be tuned by the incident angle and is sensitive to the environmental refractive index. The results highlight the potential applications of these metamaterials in chiral sensing and polarization transformation devices.  相似文献

基于手性结构设计了一种极化不敏感和双面吸波的超材料吸波体.该吸波体的结构单元由手性结构和介质基板组成.仿真的电磁波正、反向入射时超材料吸波体的吸收率表明:该吸波结构的正、反面是互易的,具有双面吸波特性.仿真的不同极化角下超材料吸波体的吸收率表明:该超材料吸波体具有极化不敏感特性.仿真的不同入射角下超材料吸波体的吸收率表明:该超材料吸波体的入射角较窄.仿真的吸波体单元的表面电流和磁能密度分布表明:电、磁场之间存在交叉耦合,吸波与手性有关.仿真的不同损耗情况下超材料吸波体的吸收率表明:基板的介质损耗在吸波过程中起主导作用,金属的电阻热可以忽略不计.该超材料吸波体可能在要求双面吸波的领域中具有潜在的应用. 关键词: 极化不敏感 双面吸波 手性结构 超材料吸波体  相似文献

The obvious circular dichroism(CD) and optical activity can be obtained based on the chiral metamaterial due to the plasmon-enhanced effect, which is very attractive for future compact devices with enhanced capabilities of light manipulation. In this paper, we propose a dual-chiral metamaterial composed of bilayer asymmetric split ring resonators(ASRR)that are in mirror-symmetry shape. It is demonstrated that the CD can get enhancement in the terahertz regime. Moreover,the CD can be further improved by modulating the asymmetry of ASRR. The enhanced CD effect in the terahertz regime has great potential applications in sensing, biomedical imaging, and molecular recognition.  相似文献

Based on the topological nature of Chern insulator and magnetoelectric coupling of chiral metamaterial, we investigate the electrodynamics for the interface associated with the two media. The Fresnel coefficients of the interface between Chern insulator and chiral metamaterial, as well as the corresponding polarization rotation angles, are derived. The reflection characteristics of the linearly polarized incident wave at the interface, such as complete polarization conversion and change of polarization state, are discussed. Under the combined influence of Chern insulator and chiral metamaterial, the partial polarization conversion may be enhanced to the complete polarization conversion, and the chiral metamaterial may compensate for the suppression effect of longitudinal conductivity of Chern insulator on the polarization conversion.  相似文献

运用矢量角谱理论研究各向异性超常材料平板透镜的聚焦特性,得到了光束在平板透镜内外各区域的矢量场分布,揭示了超常材料平板透镜的聚焦特性跟材料的各向异性参数之间的定量关系,发现聚焦场的偏振态因平板透镜的各向异性特性而发生改变.作为矢量理论的具体应用,分析了光轴方向磁导率为-1,其他各向异性参数均为1的超常材料平板透镜的聚焦特性,发现此类透镜对初始沿某一横向方向偏振的光束能实现部分聚焦,并发生偏振旋转现象.  相似文献

Just like an electronic diode that allows the electrical current to flow in one direction only, a kind of chiral metamaterial structure with a similar functionality for the electromagnetic wave is proposed. The designed nanostructure that consists of twisted metallic split-ring resonators on both sides of a dielectric substrate achieves asymmetric transmission for a forward and backward propagating linearly polarized wave by numerical simulation in near-infrared band. Difference in transmission efficiency of the optimized structure between the same polarized waves incident from opposite directions can reach a maximum at the communication wavelength (1.55 μm). Moreover, the simulation results of this structure also exhibit strong optical activity and circular dichroism.  相似文献

以填充各向异性超常媒质矩形波导中的电磁场解为基础,通过建立与求解填充各向异性超常媒质交错结构的矩形谐振腔的谐振方程,深入研究了三维各向异性超常媒质交错结构的亚波长谐振特性.结果发现,三维各向异性超常媒质交错结构的亚波长谐振条件具有更为多样性的物理解,在固定参数下,其物理解的个数往往超过一个,还针对谐振结构的横向尺寸对亚波长谐振条件的影响进行了讨论.结果表明,随着横向尺寸的减小亚波长谐振条件的物理解数量将逐渐增多直至趋于无穷.这意味着即使超常媒质的本构参数无法控制,仍然可以通过调节谐振结构的横向尺寸来得到亚波长谐振腔. 关键词: 各向异性 超常媒质 交错结构 亚波长谐振  相似文献

Circular dichroism (CD) has shown very interesting possibilities as a means to characterize the chiral signal of a chiral structure. Here, we theoretically demonstrated enhanced and tunable CD in the visible light regime using a composite structure consisting of a double-layer metal grating gaped by a dielectric waveguide layer. Based on the coupling of the waveguide modes and the localized plasmonic resonances, the CD could reach a maximum value as high as 0.52 at 635 nm, which is four times higher than the CD value obtained in a conventional double-layer grating without the waveguide coupling effect. Furthermore, the spectral positions of the enhanced CD bands could be easily tuned by controlling the structural parameters. The proposed hybrid double-grating and waveguide structures could have potential applications in chiral selective imaging, sensing and spectroscopy, especially where the transmission measurement is required.  相似文献

The circular dichroism of titanium‐doped silver chiral nanorod arrays grown using the glancing angle deposition (GLAD) method is investigated in the visible and near infrared ranges using transmission ellipsometry and spectroscopy. These films are found to have significant circular polarization effects across broad ranges of the visible to NIR spectrum, including large values for optical rotation. The characteristics of these circular polarization effects are strongly influenced by the morphology of the deposited arrays. Thus, the morphological control of the optical activity in these nanostructures demonstrates significant optimization capability of the GLAD technique for fabricating chiral plasmonic materials.

The optical properties of a planar metamaterial with gammadion-shaped chiral symmetry breaking holes array have been investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The results indicate that the introduction of the chiral symmetry breaking causes the split of the transmission peak and exerts large influence on the optical rotation and circular dichroism. Our metamaterials might have potential applications in future design of plasmonic devices.  相似文献

In this work, the concept of left-handed chiral metamaterials is analyzed by emphasizing their optical ability on the rotation of the plane of polarization of a wave. The possibilities of a negative phase velocity, negative and positive propagation constants, and basic electromagnetic properties of this novel medium are also presented. After the characterization of left-handed chiral metamaterial, we provide a reflection and transmission study for two planar boundaries of nonchiral-left-handed chiral metamaterial for normal angles of incidence. Some numerical results are also provided to validate the formulation found in the analysis and to show the role of the chirality in the propagation constants, phase velocities, reflection and transmission.   相似文献

In the paper, a novel three-layered chiral structure is proposed and investigated, which consists of a split-ring resonator sandwiched between two layers of sub-wavelength gratings. This designed structure can achieve simultaneously asymmetric transmission with an extremely broad bandwidth and high amplitude as well as multi-band 90° polarization rotator with very low dispersion. Numerical simulations adopted two kinds of softwares with different algorithms demonstrate that asymmetric parameter can reach a maximum of 0.99 and over than 0.8 from 4.6 to 16.8 GHz, which exhibit magnitude and bandwidth improvement over previous chiral metamaterials in microwave bands (S, C, X and Ku bands). Specifically, the reason of high amplitude is analyzed in detail based on the Fabry-perot like resonance. Subsequently, the highly efficient polarization conversion with very low dispersion between two orthogonal linearly polarized waves is also analyzed by the optical activity and ellipticity. Finally, the electric fields are also investigated and further demonstrate the correctness of the simulated and calculated results.  相似文献

A multi-band circular polarizer using a twisted triple split-ring resonator(TSRR) is presented and studied numerically and experimentally. At four distinct resonant frequencies, the incident linearly polarized wave can be transformed into left/right-handed circularly polarized waves. Numerical simulation results show that a y-polarized wave can be converted into a right-handed circularly polarized wave at 5.738 GHz and 9.218 GHz, while a left-handed circularly polarized wave is produced at 7.292 GHz and 10.118 GHz. The experimental results are in agreement with the numerical results. The surface current distributions are investigated to illustrate the polarization transformation mechanism. Furthermore, the influences of the structure parameters of the circular polarizer on transmission spectra are discussed as well.  相似文献

A switchable terahertz (THz) polarization converter based on vanadium dioxide (VO2) metamaterial is proposed. It is a 5-layer structure which containing metal split-ring-resonator (SRR), the first polyimide (PI) spacer, VO2 film, the second PI spacer, and metal grating. It is an array structure and the period in x and y directions is 100 μm. The performance is simulated by using finite integration technology. The simulation results show that, when the VO2 is in insulating state, the device is a transmission polarization converter. The cross-linear polarization conversion can be realized in a broadband of 0.70 THz, and the polarization conversion rate (PCR) is higher than 99%. Under thermal stimulus, the VO2 changes from insulating state to metallic state, and the device is a reflective polarization converter. The linear-to-circular polarization conversion can be successfully realized in a broadband of 0.50 THz, and the PCR is higher than 88%.  相似文献

为了缩减天线带内雷达散射截面(radar cross section, RCS), 在双频带完美吸波材料的基础上, 通过缩小两吸波率峰值之间的距离, 设计出了一种频带较宽的超薄完美吸波体.该吸波体由两层金属及其中间的有耗介质组成, 底面金属不刻蚀, 顶面由方形贴片和绕其四周的开口方环组成, 该结构具有低频点LC谐振和高频点偶极子谐振的特征.仿真和实验结果表明: 该吸波体具有极化不敏感和宽入射角的特征, 其在厚度小于0.01λ的条件下, 具有8.2%的半波功率相对带宽, 最大吸波率的峰值为91.6%和96.5%. 将吸波体用于圆极化的倾斜波束 (tilted beam, TB)天线, 仿真和测试结果表明: 该天线在保持增益不变的条件下, 不仅轴比得到改善, 有效带宽得到拓展, 且在5.5–6.5 GHz范围内TB天线的RCS缩减至少在3 dBsm以上, 在谐振频点处最大缩减幅度分别为11 dBsm和8 dBsm; 在两谐振点处鼻锥方向-36°–+36°范围内, TB天线的RCS缩减均有明显效果. 关键词: 超薄完美吸波体 TB天线 雷达散射截面 圆极化  相似文献

We have investigated the electronic transition, chiroptical properties, and the second-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of eight novel chiral diborate compounds and elucidated structure–property relationships from the micromechanism. These compounds show calculated first hyperpolarizabilities (β) ranging from 2738.52 to 83976.45?×?10?33?esu, which means that subtle structural modifications can substantially enhance the first hyperpolarizability. The cooperativity of intramolecular charge transfer and an effective way to enhance the NLO response were also systemically investigated. The linear correlation between the first hyperpolarizability and the inverse of the electronic transition energy suggests that the electronic transition energy plays a key role in determining the NLO response. These compounds have the potential to be excellent second-order NLO materials from the standpoint of the large β values, high transparency and the intrinsic non-centrosymmetry. The electronic transition and chiroptical properties have been assigned and analysed. The main UV–visible absorption features are best described as π?→?π* transitions. Moreover, the effects of different functionals and basis sets on the first hyperpolarizability were investigated.  相似文献

研究中通过建立和求解填充各向异性超常媒质的矩形波导TE模式和TM模式的波动方程和场分布方程,讨论了各向异性超常媒质矩形波导的有效介电常数、有效磁导率、相位常数以及传输系数与所填充超常媒质本构参数之间的变化关系.研究发现,填充了各向异性超常媒质的矩形波导的导波特性在截止频率之上的频率区域,其导波特性由所填充超常媒质的横向本构参数决定,而与超常媒质的纵向本构参数无关.但是,在截止频率之下的频率区域,该矩形波导的导波特性则由所填充超常媒质的横向本构参数和纵向本构参数共同决定.研究中通过典型的计算实例对所得到的结 关键词: 各向异性 超常媒质 矩形波导 导波特性  相似文献

提出了一种新的基于磁性吸波体材料的具有低频透射和高频宽带吸收特性的超材料吸波体.该超材料吸波体在1 GHz的透射系数为-0.5 dB,具有较好的低频透射特性,可以实现对低频信号的相互通信;在频率大于8.4 GHz的频段,吸收率均大于80%,基本覆盖整个X波段和Ku波段,实现高频宽带吸收.此外,由于该超材料吸波体的单元金属周期结构具有较好的四重旋转对称性,因而是极化无关的.该透射吸收超材料吸波体设计简单,实用性强,具有较强的潜在应用价值.  相似文献

基于超材料结构的设计理论,通过长金属线周期阵列和具有Lorentz谐振形式等效介电常数的金属短线的组合可频率选通特性.由不同周期排布和结构尺寸的长金属线和金属短线组合而成的频率选择表面具有不同频段的选通特性.文章提出了双层及单面两种具有极化选择特性的频率选择表面,两种结构均可实现对特定频段TE及TM波选通.具有极化选择特性的超材料频率选择表面的设计为极化滤波器以及极化波产生器的设计提供了借鉴. 关键词: 频率选择表面 超材料 极化选择  相似文献
