We study nodal lines of solutions to the heat equations. We interested in the global geometry of nodal sets, in the whole domain of definition of the solution. The local structure of nodal sets is a well understander subject, while the global geometry of nodal lines is much less clear. We give a detailed analysis of a simple component of a nodal set of a solution of the heat equation. Our results are motivated by some applied problems. They related to classical problems of the unique continuation and the backward uniqueness for parabolic equations.  相似文献

We consider the exponential stability of stochastic evolution equations with Lipschitz continuous non-linearities when zero is not a solution for these equations. We prove the existence of a non-trivial stationary solution which is exponentially stable, where the stationary solution is generated by the composition of a random variable and the Wiener shift. We also construct stationary solutions with the stronger property of attracting bounded sets uniformly. The existence of these stationary solutions follows from the theory of random dynamical systems and their attractors. In addition, we prove some perturbation results and formulate conditions for the existence of stationary solutions for semilinear stochastic partial differential equations with Lipschitz continuous non-linearities.  相似文献

We solve the tracking control problem, in which one should bring a trajectory of a system of linear ordinary differential equations into a neighborhood of a trajectory of another system within a given time interval. After getting into this neighborhood, one should keep the trajectory of the first subsystem in it for a time interval of given duration. For the control synthesis, we use incomplete and imprecise information on the online deviation of one trajectory from the other, which is obtained in real time from linear equations of observation. We consider distinct structures of observers, which substantially affect the solution of control problems for such systems. The equations of dynamics and admissible measurements contain uncertainty for which one knows only some hard pointwise constraints. To solve the main problem, we use an approach that can be reduced to the construction of auxiliary information sets and weakly invariant sets with a subsequent “aiming” of one set at a tube. We suggest an efficient method for an approximate solution on the basis of ellipsoidal calculus techniques. The results of the algorithm operation are illustrated by an example of the solution of a tracking control problem for two fourth-order subsystems.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the existence of unbounded maximal subcontinua of positive solution sets of some nonlinear operator equations that bifurcates from infinity. The main feature of the paper is that the nonlinearity may not be of asymptotically linear type and may not be positone. The methods used to show our main results are different from that of Rabinowitz’ well-known global bifurcation theorems and that of some other related papers. We first obtain a sequence of unbounded subcontinua located in a pipe that bifurcates from nontrivial solutions by using a topological degree argument. Then using a result on subcontinua of superior limit in metric spaces we obtain the main results concerning unbounded maximal subcontinua of positive solution sets of the nonlinear operator equation. The main results can be applied to the semipositone problems to obtain the existence of positive solutions.  相似文献

This paper deals with the boundedness in probability and convergence for solutions of stochastic Liénard-type equations. Some explicit conditions to ensure that all solution is bounded in probability and convergent to some fixed sets are obtained. In this article, the authors consider a class of semilinear elliptic equations on fractal sets under some new conditions, which are more weaker than those in usual cases. In this paper, a class of discrete-time backward non-linear equations defined on some ordered Hilbert spaces of symmetric matrices is considered. The problem of the existence of some global solutions is investigated. The class of considered discrete-time non-linear equations contains, as special cases, a great number of difference Riccati equations both from the deterministic and the stochastic framework. The results proved in the paper provide the sets of necessary and sufficient conditions that guarantee the existence of some special solutions of the considered equations as: the maximal solution, the stabilizing solution and the minimal positive semi-definite solution. These conditions are expressed in terms of the feasibility of some suitable systems of linear matrix inequalities (LMI). One shows that in the case of the equations with periodic coefficients to verify the conditions that guarantee the existence of the maximal or the stabilizing solution, we have to check the solvability of some systems of LMI with a finite number of inequations. The proofs are based on some suitable properties of discrete-time linear equations defined by the positive operators on some ordered Hilbert spaces chosen adequately. The results derived in this paper provide useful conditions that guarantee the existence of the maximal solution or the stabilizing solution for different classes of difference matrix Riccati equations involved in many problems of robust control both in the deterministic and the stochastic framework. The proofs are deterministic and are accessible to the readers less familiarized with the stochastic reasonings.  相似文献

Solution sets of systems of linear equations over fields are characterized as being affine subspaces. But what can we say about the “shape” of the set of all solutions of other systems of equations? We study solution sets over arbitrary algebraic structures, and we give a necessary condition for a set of n-tuples to be the set of solutions of a system of equations in n unknowns over a given algebra. In the case of Boolean equations we obtain a complete characterization, and we also characterize solution sets of systems of Boolean functional equations.  相似文献

Summary This paper discusses the problems associated with the symbolic treatment of functional equations and presents a Mathematica package for the solution of real functional equations of real variables. The package includes a minimal basic database which contains a reduced set of functional equations with its four components: equation, domain, class and the corresponding solution. The word minimal is used in the sense that any equation that is solvable by the system using non-searching methods is excluded from the database. The package incorporates a searching algorithm which can solve functional equations independently of their notation and their algebraic representation. Not only general solutions but particular and candidate solutions are dealt with. This implies a careful analysis of domains and classes. The package includes some methods for solving functional equations, which are used when the input functional equations are not found in the database. Some methods have been implemented internally and some are in an external package. Finally, some examples illustrate the use of the package.  相似文献

This paper is the second in a series on the structure of sets of solutions to systems of equations in a free group, projections of such sets, and the structure of elementary sets defined over a free group. In the second paper we generalize Merzlyakov’s theorem on the existence of a formal solution associated with a positive sentence [Me]. We first construct a formal solution to a generalAE sentence which is known to be true over some variety, and then develop tools that enable us to analyze the collection of all such formal solutions. We study the asymptotic stability and the global asymptotic stability of equilibria of autonomous systems of differential equations. We prove necessary and sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of an equilibrium in terms of invariant compact sets and positively invariant sets. To verify these conditions, we use some results of the localization method for invariant compact sets of autonomous systems. These results are related to finding sets that contain all invariant compact sets of the system (localizing sets) and to the behavior of trajectories of the system with respect to localizing sets. We consider an example of a system whose equilibrium belongs to the critical case.  相似文献

We prove some fixed point theorems in partially ordered sets, providing an extension of the Banach contractive mapping theorem. Having studied previously the nondecreasing case, we consider in this paper nonincreasing mappings as well as non monotone mappings. We also present some applications to first–order ordinary differential equations with periodic boundary conditions, proving the existence of a unique solution admitting the existence of a lower solution. We investigate how some geometric properties of the domain are inherited by level sets of solutions of elliptic equations. In particular we prove that, under suitable assumptions, solutions of elliptic Dirichlet problems in starshaped rings have starshaped level sets. Our results are applicable to a large class of operators, including fully-nonlinear ones.  相似文献

This paper analyzes an initial/boundary value problem for a system of equations modelling the nonstationary flow of a nonhomogeneous incompressible asymmetric (polar) fluid. Under conditions similar to those usually imposed to the nonhomogeneous 3D Navier–Stokes equations, using a spectral semi-Galerkin method, we prove the existence of a local in time strong solution. We also prove the uniqueness of the strong solution and some global existence results. Several estimates for the solutions and their approximations are given. These can be used to find useful error bounds of the Galerkin approximations.  相似文献

In this paper we examine infinite-dimensional control systems governed by semilinear evolution equations and having both state and control constraint. We introduce the relaxed system and show that the original trajectories are dense in an appropriate function space in the relaxed ones. We also determine the dependence of the solution set on the initial conditions. Then using those results we establish necessary and sufficient conditions for optimality for some optimization problems. Finally we prove some controllability results.  相似文献

Rado's Theorem characterizes the systems of homogeneous linear equations having the property that for any finite partition of the positive integers one cell contains a solution to these equations. Furstenberg and Weiss proved that solutions to those systems can in fact be found in every central set. (Since one cell of any finite partition is central, this generalizes Rado's Theorem.) We show that the same holds true for the larger class of D-sets. Moreover we will see that the conclusion of Furstenberg's Central Sets Theorem is true for all sets in this class.  相似文献
