LetA(ε) andB(ε) be complex valued matrices analytic in ε at the origin.A(ε)≈ p B(ε) ifA(ε) is similar toB(ε) for any |ε|<r,A(ε)≈a B(ε) ifB(ε)=T(ε)A(ε)T −1(ε) andT(ε) is analytic and |T(ε)|≠0 for |ε|<r! In this paper we find a necessary and sufficient conditions onA(ε) andB(ε) such thatA(ε)≈ a B(ε) provided thatA(ε)≈ p B(ε). This problem arises in study of certain ordinary differential equations singular with respect to a parameter ε in the origin and was first stated by Wasow. Aschbacher’s localC(G; T) theorem asserts that ifG is a finite group withF*(G)=O 2(G), andTεSyl2(G), thenG=C(G; T)K(G), whereC(G; T)=〈N G (T 0)|1≠T 0 charT〉 andK(G) is the product of all near components ofG of typeL 2(2 n ) orA 2 n +1. Near components are also known asχ-blocks or Aschbacher blocks. In this paper we give a proof of Aschbacher’s theorem in the case thatG is aK-group, i.e., in the case that every simple section ofG is isomorphic to one of the known simple groups. Our proof relies on a result of Meierfrankenfeld and Stroth [MS] on quadratic four-groups and on the Baumann-Glauberman-Niles theorem, for which Stellmacher [St2] has given an amalgam-theoretic proof. Apart from those results, our proof is essentially self-contained. In this paper, we will demonstrate that a conjecture of Dyer, Porcelli, and Rosenfeld is correct. In fact, we will show that ifM is any finite von Neumann factor andA is any non-zero element ofM, then there exists aT inM such that the spectrum ofT+A is disjoint from the spectrum ofT, i.e. such thatσ(T+A) ∩ σ(T)=φ.  相似文献

A Banach space operatorT ɛB(X) is polaroid,T ɛP, if the isolated points of the spectrum ofT are poles of the resolvent ofT. LetPS denote the class of operators inP which have have SVEP, the single-valued extension property. It is proved that ifT is polynomiallyPS andA ɛB(X) is an algebraic operator which commutes withT, thenf(T+A) satisfies Weyl’s theorem andf(T *+A *) satisfiesa-Weyl’s theorem for everyf which is holomorphic on a neighbourhood of σ(T+A).  相似文献

UniversalC*-algebrasC*(A) exist for certain topological *-algebras called algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. A Frechet *-algebraA has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if every operator representation ofA mapsA into bounded operators. This is proved by showing that every unbounded operator representation π, continuous in the uniform topology, of a topological *-algebraA, which is an inverse limit of Banach *-algebras, is a direct sum of bounded operator representations, thereby factoring through the enveloping pro-C*-algebraE(A) ofA. Given aC*-dynamical system (G,A,α), any topological *-algebraB containingC c (G,A) as a dense *-subalgebra and contained in the crossed productC*-algebraC*(G,A,α) satisfiesE(B) =C*(G,A,α). IfG = ℝ, ifB is an α-invariant dense Frechet *-subalgebra ofA such thatE(B) =A, and if the action α onB ism-tempered, smooth and by continuous *-automorphisms: then the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,B,α) satisfiesE(S(ℝ,B,α)) =C*(ℝ,A,α). WhenG is a Lie group, theC -elementsC (A), the analytic elementsC ω(A) as well as the entire analytic elementsC є(A) carry natural topologies making them algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. Given a non-unitalC*-algebraA, an inductive system of idealsI α is constructed satisfyingA =C*-ind limI α; and the locally convex inductive limit ind limI α is anm-convex algebra with theC*-enveloping algebraA and containing the Pedersen idealK a ofA. Given generatorsG with weakly Banach admissible relationsR, we construct universal topological *-algebraA(G, R) and show that it has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if (G, R) isC*-admissible.  相似文献

LetC=C(C, P, k) be the coordinate ring of the affine curve obtained by removing a closed pointP from a (suitable) projective curveC over afinite fieldk. Let SL2 (C,q) be the principal congruence subgroup of SL2(C) andU 2(C,q) be the subgroup generated by the all unipotent matrices in SL2(C,q), whereq is aC-ideal. In this paper we prove that, for all but finitely manyq, the quotient SL2(C,q)/U 2(C,q) is a free group of finite, unbounded rank. LetC(SL2(A)) be the congruence kernel of SL2(A), whereA is an arithmetic Dedekind domain with only finitely many units. (e.g.A=C or ℤ) and letG be any finitely generated group. From the above (and previous results) we deduce that the profinite completion ofG,Ĝ, is a homonorphic image ofC(SL2(A)). This is related to previous results of Lubotzky and Mel'nikov.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the injective cover of theR-moduleE(R/B)/R/B for a prime ideal B ofR is the direct sum of copies ofE(R/B) for prime ideals D ⊃ B, and if B is maximal, the injective cover is a finite sum of copies ofE(R/B). For a finitely generatedR-moduleM withn generators andG an injectiveR-module, we argue that the natural mapG nG n/Hom R (M, G) is an injective precover if Ext R 1 (M, R) = 0, and that the converse holds ifG is an injective cogenerator ofR. Consequently, for a maximal ideal R ofR, depthR R ≧ 2 if and only if the natural mapE(R/R) →E(R/R)/R/R is an injective cover and depthR R > 0.  相似文献

It is known that any strict tensor category (CI) determines a braided tensor categoryZ(C), the centre ofC. WhenA is a finite dimension Hopf algebra, Drinfel’d has proved thatZ(A M) is equivalent to D(A) M as a braided tensor category, whereA M is the left A-module category andD(A) is the Drinfel’d double ofA. For a braided tensor category, the braidC U,v is a natural isomorphism for any pair of object (U,V) in. If weakening the natural isomorphism of the braidC U,V to a natural transformation, thenC U,V is a prebraid and the category with a prebraid is called a prebraided tensor category. Similarly it can be proved that any strict tensor category determines a prebraided tensor category Z∼ (C), the near centre of. An interesting prebraided tensor structure of the Yetter-Drinfel’d category C*A YD C*A given, whereC # A is the smash product bialgebra ofC andA. And it is proved that the near centre of Doi-Hopf module A M(H) C is equivalent to the Yetter-Drinfel’ d C*A YD C*A as prebraided tensor categories. As corollaries, the prebraided tensor structures of the Yetter-Drinfel’d category A YD A , the centres of module category and comodule category are given.  相似文献

The chaos caused by a strong-mixing preserving transformation is discussed and it is shown that for a topological spaceX satisfying the second axiom of countability and for an outer measurem onX satisfying the conditions: (i) every non-empty open set ofX ism-measurable with positivem-measure; (ii) the restriction ofm on Borel σ-algebra ℬ(X) ofX is a probability measure, and (iii) for everyYX there exists a Borel setB⊂ℬ(X) such thatBY andm(B) =m(Y), iff:XX is a strong-mixing measure-preserving transformation of the probability space (X, ℬ(X),m), and if {m}, is a strictly increasing sequence of positive integers, then there exists a subsetCX withm (C) = 1, finitely chaotic with respect to the sequence {m i}, i.e. for any finite subsetA ofC and for any mapF:AX there is a subsequencer i such that limi→∞ f r i(a) =F(a) for anyaA. We prove that ifE is a Banach lattice andS, T ∈ ℒ (E) are such that 0≦sT,r(s)=r(T) andr(T) is a Riesz point ofσ(T) thenr(S) is a Riesz point ofσ(S). We prove also some results on compact positive perturbations of positive irreducible operators and lattice homomorphisms.  相似文献

LetM be a Kaehler manifold of real dimension 2n with holomorphic sectional curvatureK H≥4λ and antiholomorphic Ricci curvatureρ A≥(2n−2)λ, andP is a complex hypersurface. We give a bound for the quotient (volume ofP)/(volume ofM) and prove that this bound is attained if and only ifP=C P n−1(λ) andM=C P n(λ). Moreover, we give some results on the volume of of tubes aboutP inM. Work partially supported by a DGICYT Grant No. PS87-0115-CO3-01.  相似文献

We show that, whenA generates aC-semigroup, then there existsY such that [M(C)] →YX, andA| Y , the restriction ofA toY, generates a strongly continuous semigroup, where ↪ means “is continuously embedded in” and ‖x[Im(C)]≡‖C −1 x‖. There also existsW such that [C(W)] →XW, and an operatorB such thatA=B| X andB generates a strongly continuous semigroup onW. If theC-semigroup is exponentially bounded, thenY andW may be chosen to be Banach spaces; in general,Y andW are Frechet spaces. If ρ(A) is nonempty, the converse is also true. We construct fractional powers of generators of boundedC-semigroups. We would like to thank R. Bürger for sending preprints, and the referee for pointing out reference [37]. Consider (X,F, μ,T) a Lebesgue probability space and measure preserving invertible map. We call this a dynamical system. For a subsetAF. byT A:AA we mean the induced map,T A(x)=TrA(x)(x) wherer A(x)=min{i〉0:T i(x) ∈A}. Such induced maps can be topologized by the natural metricD(A, A’) = μ(AΔA’) onF mod sets of measure zero. We discuss here ergodic properties ofT A which are residual in this metric. The first theorem is due to Conze.Theorem 1 (Conze):For T ergodic, T A is weakly mixing for a residual set of A.Theorem 2:For T ergodic, 0-entropy and loosely Bernoulli, T A is rank-1, and rigid for a residual set of A.Theorem 3:For T ergodic, positive entropy and loosely Bernoulli, T A is Bernoulli for a residual set of A.Theorem 4:For T ergodic of positive entropy, T A is a K-automorphism for a residual set of A. A strengthening of Theorem 1 asserts thatA can be chosen to lie inside a given factor algebra ofT. We also discuss even Kakutani equivalence analogues of Theorems 1–4.  相似文献

Given anm-tempered strongly continuous action α of ℝ by continuous*-automorphisms of a Frechet*-algebraA, it is shown that the enveloping ↡-C *-algebraE(S(ℝ, A, α)) of the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,A , α) of the Frechet algebra A of C-elements ofA is isomorphic to the Σ-C *-crossed productC *(ℝ,E(A), α) of the enveloping Σ-C *-algebraE(A) ofA by the induced action. WhenA is a hermitianQ-algebra, one getsK-theory isomorphismRK *(S(ℝ, A, α)) =K *(C *(ℝ,E(A), α) for the representableK-theory of Frechet algebras. An application to the differential structure of aC *-algebra defined by densely defined differential seminorms is given.  相似文献

It is proved that if a K?the space λ1(A) is distinguished and E is an arbitrary Fréchet space then every reflexive map T: λ1(A)→E (i.e., T maps bounded sets into relatively weakly compact ones) factorizes through a reflexive Fréchet space. An analogous result is proved for Montel maps (i.e., which map bounded sets into relatively compact ones). The result is a consequence of the fact proved also in this paper that, for a distinguished λ1(A) space, the spaces of reflexive maps R1(A), C(K)) and of Montel maps M1(A), C(K)) are the Mackey completions of the spaces of weakly compact and compact maps, respectively. Consequences for spaces of vector-valued (weakly) continuous functions are also obtained. Received: 24 November 1997 / Revised version: 14 May 1998  相似文献

LetT(t) be the translation group onY=C 0(ℝ×K)=C 0(ℝ)⊗C(K),K compact Hausdorff, defined byT(t)f(x, y)=f(x+t, y). In this paper we give several representations of the sun-dialY corresponding to this group. Motivated by the solution of this problem, viz.Y =L 1(ℝ)⊗M(K), we develop a duality theorem for semigroups of the formT 0(t)⊗id on tensor productsZX of Banach spaces, whereT 0(t) is a semigroup onZ. Under appropriate compactness assumptions, depending on the kind of tensor product taken, we show that the sun-dial ofZX is given byZ X*. These results are applied to determine the sun-dials for semigroups induced on spaces of vector-valued functions, e.g.C 0(Ω;X) andL p (μ;X). The additive subgroup generated by a polynomial   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
SupposeR is a prime ring with the centerZ and the extended centroidC. Letp(x 1, …,x n) be a polynomial overC in noncommuting variablesx 1, …,x n. LetI be a nonzero ideal ofR andA be the additive subgroup ofRC generated by {p(a 1, …,a n):a 1, …,a nI}. Then eitherp(x 1, …,x n) is central valued orA contains a noncentral Lie ideal ofR except in the only one case whereR is the ring of all 2 × 2 matrices over GF(2), the integers mod 2.  相似文献

It is proved that ifE is a separable Banach lattice withE′ weakly sequentially complete,F is a Banach space andT:E→F is a bounded linear operator withT′F′ non-separable, then there is a subspaceG ofE, isomorphic toC(Δ), such thatT G is an isomorphism, whereC(Δ) denotes the space of continuous real valued functions on the Cantor discontinuum. This generalizes an earlier result of the second-named author. A number of conditions are proved equivalent for a Banach latticeE to contain a subspace order isomorphic toC(Δ). Among them are the following:L 1 is lattice isomorphic to a sublattice ofE′;C(Δ)′ is lattice isomorphic to a sublattice ofE′; E contains an order bounded sequence with no weak Cauchy subsequence;E has a separable closed sublatticeF such thatF′ does not have a weak order unit. LetA be aC*-algebra with second dualA″. Let (φ n)(n=1,...) be a sequence in the dual ofA such that limφ n(a) exists for eacha εA. In general, this does not imply that limφ n(x) exists for eachx εA″. But if limφ n(p) exists whenever p is the range projection of a positive self-adjoint element of the unit ball ofA, then it is shown that limφ n(x) does exist for eachx inA″. This is a non-commutative generalisation of a celebrated theorem of Dieudonné. A new proof of Dieudonné’s theorem, for positive measures, is given here. The proof of the main result makes use of Dieudonné’s original theorem.  相似文献
