Due to lipid oxidation, off‐flavors, characterized by a fishy odor, are emitted during the heating of rapeseed oil in a fryer and affect the flavor of rapeseed oil even at low concentrations. Thus, there is a need for analytical methods to identify and quantify these products. To study the headspace composition of degraded rapeseed oil, and more specifically the compounds responsible for the fishy odor, a headspace trap gas chromatography with mass spectrometry method was developed and validated. Six volatile compounds formed during the degradation of rapeseed oil were quantified: 1‐penten‐3‐one, (Z)‐4‐heptenal, hexanal, nonanal, (E,E)‐heptadienal, and (E)‐2‐heptenal. Validation using accuracy profiles allowed us to determine the valid ranges of concentrations for each compound, with acceptance limits of 40% and tolerance limits of 80%. This method was then successfully applied to real samples of degraded oils.  相似文献

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) is a perennial herb with an intensive aromatic flavor. Its most important chemical constituents are essential oils (e.g., 1,8-cineole and camphor) and antioxidants (e.g., carnosic acid and rosmarinic acid). The common methods to extract the essential oil of rosemary are steam or hydro distillation. The aim of this work is to investigate the residual antioxidants after hydro distillation, especially rosmarinic acid and carnosic acid. For this purpose, the hydro distillation water residues were analyzed by HPLC-UV. Moreover, the influence of the extraction duration on the concentration of the antioxidants was investigated. Also, the residual amount of these compounds in the leaves was examined. The total antioxidant activity of the extracts and of the pure compounds was determined by DPPH assays. It is shown that after 2.5 h of hydro distillation the amount of rosmarinic acid and the antioxidant activity in the water residue reaches a maximum value. In addition, the yield and the quality of the essential oil were investigated to draw a comparison between steam and hydro distillations of Moroccan rosemary leaves.  相似文献

GC and MS were used for the analysis of Croatian Centaurium erythraea Rafn essential oil (obtained by hydrodistillation) and headspace (applying headspace solid-phase microextraction). The headspace contained numerous monoterpene hydrocarbons (the major ones were terpinene-4-ol, methone, p-cymene, γ-terpinene and limonene). Oxygenated monoterpenes were present in the headspace and oil, while 1,8-cineole, bornyl acetate and verbenone were present only in the headspace. High headspace percentages of toluene and naphthalene were found, followed by hemimellitene. Lot of similarities were observed with Serbian C. erythraea oil [neophytadiene (1.4%), thymol (2.6%), carvacrol (6.1%) and hexadecanoic acid (5.7%)], but different features were also noted such as the presence of menthol, menthone and phytone. The oil fractionation enabled identification of other minor compounds not found in total oil such as norisoprenoides, alk-1-enes or chromolaenin. The essential oil showed antimicrobial potential on Escherichia coli, Salmonella enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus. On the other hand, no antibacterial activity of the oil was observed on Pseudomonas fluorescens and Lysteria monocytogenes.  相似文献

A rapid, green and effective miniaturized sample preparation technique, ionic‐liquid‐assisted microwave distillation coupled with headspace single‐drop microextraction was developed for the extraction of essential oil from dried Dryopteris fragrans. 1‐Ethyl‐3‐methylimidazolium acetate was the optimal ionic liquid as the destruction agent of plant cell walls and microwave absorption was medium. n‐Heptadecane (2.0 μL) was adopted as the suspended microdrop solvent in the headspace for the extraction and concentration of essential oil. The optimal parameters of the proposed method were an irradiation power of 300 W, sample mass of 0.9 g, mass ratio of ionic liquids to sample of 2.8, extraction temperature of 79°C, and extraction time of 3.6 min. In comparison to the previous reports, the proposed technique could equally monitor all the essential oil components with no significant differences in a simple way, which was more rapid and required a much lower amount of sample.  相似文献

A new method involving concurrent headspace solvent microextraction combined with continuous hydrodistillation (HD-HSME) for the extraction and pre-concentration of the essential oil of Lavandula angustifolia Mill. into a microdrop is developed. A microdrop of n-hexadecane containing n-heptadecane (as internal standard) extruded from the needle tip of a gas chromatographic syringe was inserted into the headspace above the plant sample. After extraction for an optimized time, the microdrop was retracted into the syringe and injected directly into a GC injection port. The effects of the type of extracting solvent, sample mass, microdrop volume and extraction time on HD-HSME efficiency were investigated and optimized. Using this method, thirty-six compounds were extracted and identified. Linalool (32.8%), linalyl acetate (17.6%), lavandulyl acetate (15.9%), alpha-terpineol (6.7%) and geranyl acetate (5.0%) were found to be the major constituents. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report on the use of continuous headspace solvent microextraction coupled with hydrodistillation for investigation of essential oil components.  相似文献

The ultrasonic nebulization extraction-heating gas flow transfer coupled with headspace single drop microextraction (UNE-HGFT-HS-SDME) was developed for the extraction of essential oil from Zanthoxylum bungeanum Maxim. The gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was applied to the determination of the constituents in the essential oil. The contents of the constituents from essential oil obtained by the proposed method were found to be more similar to those obtained by hydro-distillation (HD) than those obtained by ultrasonic nebulization extraction coupled with headspace single drop microextraction (UNE-HS-SDME). The heating gas flow was firstly used in the analysis of the essential oil to transfer the analytes from the headspace to the solvent microdrop. The relative standard deviations for determining the five major constituents were in the range from 1.5 to 6.7%. The proposed method is a fast, sensitive, low cost and small sample consumption method for the determination of the volatile and semivolatile constituents in the plant materials.  相似文献

Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) is evaluated and optimized for the enrichment and fractionation of the essential oil and the bitter principles of hops (Humulus lupulus), both of which contribute to the flavor of beer. Profiles of the essential oil of different hop varieties are compared. The bitter principles, the humulones and lupulones, are analyzed by miniaturized liquid chromatography (micro-LC) and by micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC).  相似文献

The volatile organic compound profile in beer is derived from hops, malt, yeast, and interactions between the ingredients, making it very diverse and complex. Due to the range and diversity of the volatile organic compounds present, the choice of the extraction method is extremely important for optimal sensitivity and selectivity. This study compared four extraction methods for hop‐derived compounds in beer late hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Extraction capacity and variation were compared for headspace solid‐phase micro extraction, stir bar sorptive extraction, headspace sorptive extraction, and solvent‐assisted flavor evaporation. Generally, stir bar sorptive extraction was better suited for acids, headspace sorptive extraction for esters and aldehydes, while headspace solid‐phase microextraction was less sensitive overall, extracting 40% fewer compounds. Solvent‐assisted flavor evaporation with dichloromethane was not suitable for the extraction of hop‐derived volatile organic compounds in beer, as the profile was strongly skewed towards alcohols and acids. Overall, headspace sorptive extraction is found to be best suited, closely followed by stir bar sorptive extraction.  相似文献

The fruits of the edible and medicinal Egyptian palm, Medemia argun, were collected from Aswan in Egypt and the essential oil (EO) from fruits and headspace (HS) of the seeds and fleshy mesocarps were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Results obtained by GC-MS analysis indicated a high variability in the oil and in the headspace from seeds and mesocarps. Sesquiterpene derivatives were the main group of volatiles in the EO from fruits and in the HS from seeds (45.0 and 64.0%, respectively), while oxygenated hydrocarbon derivatives were the main constituents in the HS obtained from fleshy mesocarps (96.5%). The different chemical composition of the headspace obtained from the seeds and mesocarps of M. argun can be correlated with the different roles that the different constituents play in the prevention of dehydration of the fruits in the desert region from where the plant was collected.  相似文献

Variations in the essential oil composition of Thymus serpyllum L., growing wild in Estonia (33 samples) and in some other countries (Russia, Latvia and Armenia, seven samples) were determined. The oil were obtained from Estonia (46 samples) in yields 0.6-4.4 and 1.9-8.2 mL kg(-1) in other countries. The T. serpyllum herb grown in Estonia usually did not confirmed to the EP standard in the aspect of the essential oil contents (3.0 mL kg(-1)). Variations in the essential oil composition of wild thyme were studied using capillary gas chromatographic methods. A total of 94 components were identified. Thymol and carvacrol, mentioned in literature as principial components, are not the main components of the essential oil of wild thyme growing in Estonia. (E)-nerolidol, caryophyllene oxide, myrcene and borneol chemotypes of wild thyme drug are distinguishable. The chemical composition of samples from Russia, Latvia and Armenia is very variable.  相似文献

Summary A new method of analysis using headspace gas chromatography with microcapillary columns is proposed. Small diameter (50 μm I.D.) fused-silica capillary columns with non-extractable SE-54 and PS-255 polysiloxane stationary phases were used for the analysis of low boiling organic compounds. The small diameter columns possess the usual very high efficiency so that the method can be employed for the headspace analysis of complex mixtures. The use of short microcolumns reduces the analysis times in comparison to conventional capillary columns. Good performances were obtained in the analysis of volatile compounds in some lemon essential oil, perfumes, and water samples.  相似文献

Solid-phase microextraction was used as a technique for headspace sampling of extra virgin olive oil and virgin olive oil samples with different off-flavours. A 100 microm coated polydimethylsiloxane fiber was used to extract volatile aldehydes, the sampling temperature was 45 degrees C and the fiber has been exposed to the headspace for 15 min. Nonanal and 2-decenal were present in all the olive oils with extraction off-flavours but were not in extra virgin olive oil sample.  相似文献

Summary A convenient procedure has been described for enhancing the sensitivity of equilibrium headspace gas chromatography. The technique involves the cryogenic focusing of headspace vapors at the head of a 0.32 mm fusedsilica capillary column which has been coupled to a packed column injection port. Cryofocusing is accomplished automatically by cooling the GC oven and results in enhanced sensitivity with improved resolution. With this simple focusing technique no sample splitting is required which gives at least a 10-fold increase in sensitivity. A Multiple Headspace Injection (MHI) technique has been described which allows several rapid headspace injections to be made at the start of a single chromatographic run. Cryofocusing causes the injections to be superimposed, thus increasing the sensitivity even further. These procedures have been demonstrated for flavor and aroma analyses of toothpaste and soft drink samples. Analysis of the hydrodistilled essential oil of the aerial parts of Chersodoma argentina Cabrera by GC-MS and NMR spectroscopy revealed that over 80% consisted of monoterpene hydrocarbons such as alpha-thujene, alpha-pinene and beta-pinene. Contact and headspace volatile exposure assays of the essential oil demonstrated antifungal activity against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Sclerotium rolfsii and Rhizoctonia solani with the contact assay showing greater activity than the headspace assay. Herbicidal activity was shown by reduced root growth of Allium porrum, Solanum lycopersicon and Sorghum halepense in both assays.  相似文献

Abstract

Chemical composition of the headspace volatiles and essential oils isolated from different parts of Ferulago sylvatica was determined by GC and GC/MS analyses. The results showed that headspace volatiles obtained from the aerial parts and roots were similar regarding the number of identified compounds and main components. However, essential oils obtained from different plant organs showed significant differences in chemical composition. Myrcene was the most abundant component of the inflorescences and shoots volatiles, while α-pinene make up over 50% of the root volatiles. Only three components were identified in the root essential oil with 2,3,6-trimethyl benzaldehyde (92.7%) as the main component. In the shoots sample the terpenoid fractions represented 56% of the oil, unevenly distributed between monoterpenoids and sesquiterpenoids with germacrene D (32.5%) recognized as the main constituent. On the other hand, more than 94% of the inflorescences oils were monoterpenoids with myrcene as the most abundant contributor (29.2%).  相似文献

The aim of this experiment is to develop a rapid, simplified, direct gas chromatographic (GC) method for the analysis of volatile flavor compounds in yogurt combining a headspace with constant heating temperature and GC with a mass spectrometric detect ion. Repeatability of the method is assessed. The relative standard deviation for individual flavor compounds range from 3.5% for acetaldehyde to 8.4% for acetone, with a total mean value of 52.4 +/- 2.2 mg/kg for all of the studied aroma components. Recovery for individual flavor compounds range from 63.7% for acetone to 82.4% for acetic acid.  相似文献

A new direct microwave desorption–gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry method was developed for the analysis of the essential oils of medicinal plants. A homemade direct microwave desorption system was fabricated and used for the desorption of volatile components of medicinal herbs. The desorbed volatiles are transferred directly into the gas chromatography injector for analysis in a one‐step process. Approximately 0.3 g of the herb was needed for the desorption of samples in 60 s. In this study, more than 53 volatile compounds were identified and quantified for Echinophora platyloba DC as model herb sample. The results were found to be in good agreement with the conventional hydrodistillation extraction data. The described results show that direct microwave desorption is fast, simple, and easy to automate and requires only a small amount of sample. The results indicate that essential oil components valuable for varietal identification and characteristic of each variety analyzed when direct microwave desorption–gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry was used for analysis.  相似文献
