In this paper, the heteroclinic bifurcation problem with real eigenvalues and two inclination-flips is investigated in a four-dimensional reversible system. We perform a detailed study of this case by using the method originally established in the papers “Problems in Homoclinic Bifurcation with Higher Dimensions” and “Bifurcation of Heteroclinic Loops,” and obtain fruitful results, such as the existence and coexistence of R-symmetric homoclinic orbit and R-symmetric heteroclinic loops, R-symmetric homoclinic orbit and R-symmetric periodic orbit. The double R-symmetric homoclinic bifurcation (i.e., two-fold R-symmetric homoclinic bifurcation) for reversible heteroclinic loops is found, and the existence of infinitely many R-symmetric periodic orbits accumulating onto a homoclinic orbit is demonstrated. To continue the discussion in (Ⅰ ) and ( Ⅱ ),and finish the study of the limit cycle problem for quadratic system ( Ⅲ )m=0 in this paper. Since there is at most one limit cycle that may be created from critical point O by Hopf bifurcation,the number of limit cycles depends on the different situations of separatrix cycle to be formed around O. If it is a homoclinic cycle passing through saddle S1 on 1 +ax-y = 0,which has the same stability with the limit cycle created by Hopf bifurcation,then the uniqueness of limit cycles in such cases can be proved. If it is a homoclinic cycle passing through saddle N on x= 0,which has the different stability from the limit cycle created by Hopf bifurcation,then it will be a case of two limit cycles. For the case when the separatrix cycle is a heteroclinic cycle passing through two saddles at infinity,the discussion of the paper shows that the number of limit cycles will change from one to two depending on the different values of parameters of system.  相似文献

We consider nonwandering dynamics near heteroclinic cycles between two hyperbolic equilibria. The constituting heteroclinic connections are assumed to be such that one of them is transverse and isolated. Such heteroclinic cycles are associated with the termination of a branch of homoclinic solutions, and called T-points   in this context. We study codimension-two T-points and their unfoldings in RnRn. In our consideration we distinguish between cases with real and complex leading eigenvalues of the equilibria. In doing so we establish Lin's method as a unified approach to (re)gain and extend results of Bykov's seminal studies and related works. To a large extent our approach reduces the study to the discussion of intersections of lines and spirals in the plane.  相似文献

The study for singular trajectories of three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear systems is one of recent main interests. To the best of our knowledge, among the study for most of Lorenz or Lorenz-like systems, a pair of symmetric heteroclinic trajectories is always found due to the symmetry of those systems. Whether or not does there exist a 3D system that possesses a single heteroclinic trajectory? In the present note, based on a known Lorenz-type system, we introduce such a 3D nonlinear system with two cubic terms and one quadratic term to possess a single heteroclinic trajectory. To show its characters, we respectively use the center manifold theory, bifurcation theory, Lyapunov function and so on, to systematically analyse its complex dynamics, mainly for the distribution of its equilibrium points, the local stability, the expression of locally unstable manifold, the Hopf bifurcation, the invariant algebraic surface, and its homoclinic and heteroclinic trajectories, etc. One of the major results of this work is to rigorously prove that the proposed system has a single heteroclinic trajectory under some certain parameters. This kind of interesting phenomenon has not been previously reported in the Lorenz system family (because the huge amount of related research work always presents a pair of heteroclinic trajectories due to the symmetry of studied systems). What"s more key, not like most of Lorenz-type or Lorenz-like systems with singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycles and chaotic attractors, the new proposed system has neither singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycles nor chaotic attractors observed. Thus, this work represents an enriching contribution to the understanding of the dynamics of Lorenz attractor.  相似文献

We study a model of three interacting species in a food chain composed by a prey, an specific predator and a generalist predator. The capture of the prey by the specific predator is modelled as a modified Holling-type II non-differentiable functional response. The other predatory interactions are both modelled as Holling-type I. Moreover, our model follows a Leslie-Gower approach, in which the function that models the growth of each predator is of logistic type, and the corresponding carrying capacities depend on the sizes of their associated available preys. The resulting model has the form of a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations which includes a non-differentiable term. By means of topological equivalences and suitable changes of parameters, we find that there exists an Allee threshold for the survival of the prey population in the food chain, given, effectively, as a critical level for the generalist predator. The dynamics of the model is studied with analytical and computational tools for bifurcation theory. We present two-parameter bifurcation diagrams that contain both local phenomena (Hopf, saddle-node transcritical, cusp, Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations) and global events (homoclinic and heteroclinic connections). In particular, we find that two types of heteroclinic cycles can be formed, both of them containing connections to the origin. One of these cycles is planar involving the absence of the specific predator. In turn, the other heteroclinic cycle is formed by connections in the full three-dimensional phase space.

Differential equations that are equivariant under the action of a finite group can possess robust homoclinic cycles that can moreover be asymptotically stable. For differential equations in R4 there exists a classification of different robust homoclinic cycles for which moreover eigenvalue conditions for asymptotic stability are known. We study resonance bifurcations that destroy the asymptotic stability of robust ‘simple homoclinic cycles’ in four-dimensional differential equations. We establish that typically a periodic trajectory near the cycle is created, asymptotically stable in the supercritical case.  相似文献

If an ordinary differential equation is discretizised near an asymptotically stable stationary solution with a pair of imaginary eigenvalues by Euler's method with constant step lengthh, small invariant attracting cycles of radiusO(h 1/2) will appear. The bifurcation associated with a homoclinic orbit to saddle-focus including a pair of pure imaginary eigenvalues is investigated by using related homoclinic bifurcation theory. It is proved that, in a neighborhood of the homoclinic bifurcation value, there are countably infinite saddle-node bifurcation values, period-doubling bifurcation values and double-pulse homoclinic bifurcation values. Also, accompanied by the Hopf bifurcation, the existence of certain homoclinic connections to the periodic orbit is proved.  相似文献

A cubic system having three homoclinic loops perturbed by Z3 invariant quintic polynomials is considered. By applying the qualitative method of differential equations and the numeric computing method, the Hopf bifurcation, homoclinic loop bifurcation and heteroclinic loop bifurcation of the above perturbed system are studied. It is found that the above system has at least 12 limit cycles and the distributions of limit cycles are also given.  相似文献

Population dynamics on two sites of ecological fields are studied. Each site shows oscillatory dynamics with a heteroclinic cycle or a limit cycle attractor, and populations migrate between two sites diffusively. In this system, frequency locking states with specific ratios between the oscillations of two sites are observed. The selection of the ratios are explained with the symmetry of the phase space. Other properties of the locking states as behaviors intrinsic to heteroclinic cycles are also discussed.  相似文献

Bifurcations of heterodimensional cycles with highly degenerate conditions are studied by establishing a suitable local coordinate system in three-dimensional vector fields. The existence, coexistence and noncoexistence of the periodic orbit, homoclinic loop, heteroclinic loop and double periodic orbit are obtained under some generic hypotheses. The bifurcation surfaces and the existence regions are located; the number of the bifurcation surfaces exhibits variety and complexity of the bifurcation of degenerate heterodimensional cycles. The bifurcations of 2-point heterodimensional cycles are investigated in this paper. Under some generic conditions, we establish the existence of one homoclinic loop, one periodic orbit, two periodic orbits, one 2-fold periodic orbit, and the coexistence of one periodic orbit and heteroclinic loop. Some bifurcation patterns different to the case of non-heterodimensional heteroclinic cycles are revealed.  相似文献

The chaotic behaviors of a particle in a triple well ϕ6 potential possessing both homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits under harmonic and Gaussian white noise excitations are discussed in detail. Following Melnikov theory, conditions for the existence of transverse intersection on the surface of homoclinic or heteroclinic orbits for triple potential well case are derived, which are complemented by the numerical simulations from which we show the bifurcation surfaces and the fractality of the basins of attraction. The results reveal that the threshold amplitude of harmonic excitation for onset of chaos will move downwards as the noise intensity increases, which is further verified by the top Lyapunov exponents of the original system. Thus the larger the noise intensity results in the more possible chaotic domain in parameter space. The effect of noise on Poincare maps is also investigated.  相似文献

The main aims of this paper are to study the persistence of homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits of the reduced systems on normally hyperbolic critical manifolds, and also the limit cycle bifurcations either from the homoclinic loop of the reduced systems or from a family of periodic orbits of the layer systems. For the persistence of homoclinic and heteroclinic orbits, and the limit cycles bifurcating from a homolinic loop of the reduced systems, we provide a new and readily detectable method to characterize them compared with the usual Melnikov method when the reduced system forms a generalized rotated vector field. To determine the limit cycles bifurcating from the families of periodic orbits of the layer systems, we apply the averaging methods.We also provide two four-dimensional singularly perturbed differential systems, which have either heteroclinic or homoclinic orbits located on the slow manifolds and also three limit cycles bifurcating from the periodic orbits of the layer system.  相似文献

The C 1 density conjecture of Palis asserts that diffeomorphisms exhibiting either a homoclinic tangency or a heterodimensional cycle are C 1 dense in the complement of the C 1 closure of hyperbolic systems. A generic Hopf bifurcation involving an eight dimensional center eigenspace is considered for systems possessing aD 3 ×D 3-symmetry. This kind of Hopf bifurcation can occur in systems of three interacting groups of oscillators, where each group itself is composed of three individual oscillators. The terminology micro and Macro is introduced here to denote symmetry operations acting on individual oscillators and on the whole groups, respectively. The normal form for the Hopf bifurcation admits 11 distinct periodic solutions with maximal isotropy subgroups. These are classified and their branching-types and stabilities are determined in terms of the cubic and relevant quintic coefficients of the normal form. The symmetry properties of these solutions when only certain Macro variables in the oscillator groups are observed are discussed in the context of the remaining symmetry. Furthermore, the relation of the normal form to the corresponding one for a singleD 3-symmetry is established by restricting the system to four dimensional fixed point subspaces associated with submaximal isotropy subgroups. Based on this information the possibility of quasiperiodic solutions and of a particular class of heteroclinic cycles is discussed.Dedicated to Prof. Klaus Kirchgässner on the occasion of his 60th birthday  相似文献

We analyze a class of models representing heterogeneous agents with adaptively rational rules. The models reduce to noninvertible maps of R2. We investigate particular kinds of homoclinic bifurcations, related to the noninvertibility of the map. A first one, which leads to a strange repellor and basins of attraction with chaotic structure, is associated with simple attractors. A second one, the homoclinic bifurcation of the saddle fixed point, also associated with the foliation of the plane, causes the sudden transition to a chaotic attractor (with self-similar structure).  相似文献

By the variable transformation and generalized Hirota method, exact homoclinic and heteroclinic solutions for Davey-Stewartson II (DSII) equation are obtained. For perturbed DSII equation, the existence of a global attractor is proved. The persistence of homoclinic and heteroclinic flows is investigated, and the special homoclinic and heteroclinic structure in attractors is shown.  相似文献
