We present in detail a dispersion relation formalism for virtual Compton scattering (VCS) off the proton from threshold into
the Δ(1232)-resonance region. Such a formalism can be used as a tool to extract the generalized polarizabilities of the proton
from both unpolarized and polarized VCS observables over a larger energy range. We present calculations for existing and forthcoming
VCS experiments and demonstrate that the VCS observables in the energy region between pion production threshold and the Δ(1232)-resonance
show an enhanced sensitivity to the generalized polarizabilities.

Differential cross-sections for quasi-free Compton scattering from the proton and neutron bound in the deuteron have been
measured using the Glasgow/Mainz photon tagging spectrometer at the Mainz MAMI accelerator together with the Mainz [48]cm
;SPMOslash; × [64]cm NaI(Tl) photon detector and the G?ttingen SENECA recoil detector. The data cover photon energies ranging from [200]MeV
to [400]MeV at θLAB
γ = 136.2°. Liquid deuterium and hydrogen targets allowed direct comparison of free and quasi-free scattering from the proton. The neutron
detection efficiency of the SENECA detector was measured via the reaction p(γ,π+
n). The “free” proton Compton scattering cross-sections extracted from the bound proton data are in reasonable agreement with
those for the free proton which gives confidence in the method to extract the differential cross-section for free scattering
from quasi-free data. Differential cross-sections on the free neutron have been extracted and the difference of the electromagnetic
polarizabilities of the neutron has been determined to be αn - βn = 9.8±3.6(stat)+2.1
-1.1(syst)±2.2(model) in units of [10-4]fm
3. In combination with the polarizability sum αn + βn = 15.2±0.5 deduced from photoabsorption data, the neutron electric and magnetic polarizabilities, αn = 12.5±1.8(stat)+1.1
-0.6(syst)±1.1(model) and βn = 2.7±1.8(stat)+0.6
-1.1(syst)±1.1(model) are obtained. The backward spin polarizability of the neutron was determined to be γ(n)
π = (58.6±4.0)×10-4
fm

Virtual Compton scattering off the proton has been studied at Q
2 = 0.33 (GeV/c)2 at the MAMI accelerator in Mainz (Germany). The goal of the experiment is to measure the generalized polarizabilities (GPs)
of the proton using the double polarized e
p→e'
p'γ reaction. This paper reports the measurement of the unpolarized photon electroproduction cross-section for the new data and
the extraction of two linear combinations of GPs, which are essential for the analysis of the double spin asymmetry. 相似文献

Differential cross-sections for Compton scattering from the proton have been measured at the MAMI tagged photon facility using
the TAPS setup. The data cover an angular range of θlab
γ = 59°-155° and photon energies ranging from 55 MeV to 165 MeV. Our results are in good agreement with those from previous experiments,
but yield higher precision. Using dispersion relations the proton polarizabilities have been determined to be = [11.9±0.5stat.±1.3syst.±0.3mod.] . 10-4
fm
3 and = [1.2±0.7stat.±0.3syst.±0.4mod.)] . 10-4
fm
3. These results confirm the Baldin sum rule which was re-evaluated to be + = [13.8±0.4] . 10-4
fm
3. We can also conclude that there is no significant additional asymptotic contribution to the backward spin polarizability
γπ beyond the t-channel π0-exchange.

We extend a recent chiral approach to nuclear matter of Lutz et al.Phys. Lett. B 474, 7 (2000)) by calculating the underlying (complex-valued) single-particle potential U(p, k
f) + iW(p, k
f). The potential for a nucleon at the bottom of the Fermi sea, U(0, k
f0) = - 20.0 MeV, comes out as much too weakly attractive in this approach. Even more seriously, the total single-particle energy
does not rise monotonically with the nucleon momentum p, implying a negative effective nucleon mass at the Fermi surface. Also, the imaginary single-particle potential, W(0, k
f0) = 51.1 MeV, is too large. More realistic single-particle properties together with a good nuclear-matter equation of state
can be obtained if the short-range contributions of non-pionic origin are treated in mean-field approximation (i.e. if they are not further iterated with 1π-exchange). We also consider the equation of state of pure neutron matter ˉEn(k
n) and the asymmetry energy A(k
f) in that approach. The downward bending of these quantities above nuclear-matter saturation density seems to be a generic
feature of perturbative chiral pion-nucleon dynamics.

The Compton scattering on a charged pion and the process γγ→π0π0 are studied using the dispersion relations. Unknown parameters of the S-wave ππ interaction and a sum and a difference of the π0 meson polarizabilities are found from a fit to the experimental data for the γγ→π0π0 process. The found parameters of the ππ interaction are used for the calculation of the cross section of the elastic γπ± scattering. The analysis of the obtained results shows that the experimental data for the elastic γπ± scattering in the energy region up to 1 GeV together with the data for the γγ→π0π0 process could be used both for a determination of the pion polarizability values and for study of the S-wave ππ interaction.

We derive the set of inversion relations allowing to establish the link between the dual parametrization of GPDs and a broad
class of phenomenological models for GPDs. As an example we consider the results of the calculation of the pion GPD in the
nonlocal chiral quark model (NlCQM) to recover the set of forward-like functions Q
2ν representing this GPD in the framework of dual parametrization. We also argue that the Abel tomography method overlooks possible
δ -function-like contributions to the GPD quintessence function which make explicit contribution to the D form factor. 相似文献

We consider the spin-averaged nucleon forward Compton scattering amplitude in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory including all terms to order
. The chiral prediction for the spin-averaged forward Compton scattering amplitude is in good agreement with the data for photon energies110 MeV. We also evaluate the nucleon electric and magnetic Compton polarizabilities to this order and discuss the uncertainties of the various counter terms entering the chiral expansion of these quantities. 相似文献

We have developed a fitting code based on the leading-twist handbag Deep Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) amplitude in order
to extract Generalized Parton Distribution (GPD) information from DVCS observables in the valence region. In a first stage,
with simulations and pseudo-data, we show that the full GPD information can be recovered from experimental data if enough
observables are measured. If only some of these observables are measured, valuable information can still be extracted, with
certain observables being particularly sensitive to certain GPDs. In a second stage, we make a practical application of this
code to the recent DVCS Jefferson Lab Hall-A data from which we can extract numerical constraints for the two H GPD Compton form factors.

This study has been developed for electron-proton scattering experiments when only the scattered electrons are detected.
Pion electroproduction on the proton including the cascade π0→ 2γ decay and the QED radiative corrections to elastic ep scattering are investigated. Our results are shown in the kinematical configuration of the parity violating electron scattering
experiment planned at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI).

The exclusive ω electroproduction off the proton was studied in a large kinematical domain above the nucleon resonance region and for the highest possible photon virtuality (Q2) with the 5.75 GeV beam at CEBAF and the CLAS spectrometer. Cross-sections were measured up to large values of the four-momentum transfer (- t < 2.7 GeV2) to the proton. The contributions of the interference terms σ{TT} and σ{TL} to the cross-sections, as well as an analysis of the ω spin density matrix, indicate that helicity is not conserved in this process. The t-channel π0 exchange, or more generally the exchange of the associated Regge trajectory, seems to dominate the reaction γ*p↦ωp, even for Q2 as large as 5 GeV2. Contributions of handbag diagrams, related to Generalized Parton Distributions in the nucleon, are therefore difficult to extract for this process. Remarkably, the high-t behaviour of the cross-sections is nearly Q2-independent, which may be interpreted as a coupling of the photon to a point-like object in this kinematical limit. 相似文献

We analyze the CCFR collaboration iron target data on the xF3 structure function making particular emphasis on the extraction of the higher twist contributions from the data. Corrections
for nuclear effects are applied in order to extract data on the structure function of the isoscalar nucleon. Our analysis
confirms the observation made earlier, that the higher twist terms depend strongly on the level to which QCD perturbation
theory analysis is applied. We discuss the impact of nuclear effects on the higher twist term as well as on the QCD scale
parameter extracted from the fit to data.

Using the framework of the coupled reaction channels (CRC) the elastic scattering and the elastic transfer in the system 6He + 4He measured at E = 151 MeV have been analysed. It is shown that the structure observed in the backward range of the angular distributions
is influenced by the interference of the elastic 2n-transfer with a two-step process passing through the 2+ excitation in 6He. The two-neutron transfer mechanism is studied in the microscopic approach and it is found that for the ground-state transition
the one step dominates by a factor 10 over the two-step mechanism at this energy.

The mass spectrum is calculated for those dileptons which are produced in the early phase of a heavy ion collisions via the
direct production NN → l+l−X and via the Compton process GN → l+l−X with prompt gluons radiated in preceding NN interactions. Both mechanisms produce a mass spectrum which decreases steeply
with invariant mass of the l+l− pair and which is below the CERES data for Pb-Au collisions by about one order of magnitude.

The G0 experiment is dedicated to the determination of the strange quark contribution to the electric and magnetic nucleon
form factors for a large range of momentum transfers between 0.1 to 1(GeV/c)2 . This information is provided by the asymmetries of cross-sections measured with longitudinally polarized electrons in elastic
electron-proton scattering and quasi-elastic electron-deuteron scattering. A set of measurements at two different Q2 will allow the complete separation of the electric and magnetic weak, as well as axial nucleon form factors. This report
summarizes the physics case, gives details about the dedicated set-up used, and shows the results of the combination of the
strange quark contribution in the electric and magnetic form factors of the protons. The experiment was performed at the Jefferson Laboratory, during years 2003 and 2004, and will be completed after backward-angle measurements in 2006, 2007. 相似文献

We use phenomenological nonlocal Lagrangians, which lead to nontrivial forms for the quark propagator, to describe the pion.
We define a procedure based on previous studies on nonlocal Lagrangians for the calculation of the pion parton distributions
at low Q2. The obtained parton distributions fulfill all the wishful properties. Using a convolution approach we incorporate the composite
character of the constituent quarks. We evolve, using the Renormalization Group, the calculated parton distributions to the
experimental scale and compare favorably with the data and draw conclusions. 相似文献

The spin rotation parameters A and R were measured for the elastic pion-proton scattering by the PNPI-ITEP collaboration in the D13(1700) resonance region. The main goal of the experimental program is to resolve the current partial-wave analyses (PWA) uncertainties.
Simultaneously with A and R the polarization parameter P was measured with the purpose to improve the experimental database and estimate systematic errors. The constraint which demands
a smooth energy dependence of all π-
p transverse amplitude zeros in the complex plane together with the new experimental data on A parameter can lead to the conclusion that the Barrelet branch of “zero trajectories" is chosen improperly in PWA of the Carnegie-Mellon-Lawrence-Berkely-Laboratory
groups at the range of the pion beam momentum near 1.0 GeV/c. The setup included a longitudinally polarized proton target with superconductive magnet, multiwire spark chambers and carbon
polarimeter with thick filter. The experiment was performed at the ITEP proton synchrotron, Moscow.

Proton-nucleus elastic scattering at intermediate energies, a well-established method for probing nuclear-matter density distributions
of stable nuclei, was applied for the first time to exotic nuclei. This method is demonstrated to be an effective means for
obtaining accurate and detailed information on the size and radial shape of halo nuclei. Absolute differential cross-sections
for small-angle scattering were measured at energies near 700 MeV/u for the neutron-rich helium isotopes 6He and 8He, and more recently for the lithium isotopes 6Li, 8Li, 9Li and 11Li, using He and Li beams provided by the fragment separator FRS at GSI Darmstadt. Experiments were performed in inverse kinematics
using the hydrogen-filled ionization chamber IKAR which served simultaneously as target and recoil-proton detector. For deducing
nuclear-matter distributions, differential cross-sections calculated with the aid of the Glauber multiple-scattering theory,
using various parametrizations for the nucleon density distributions as input, were fitted to the experimental cross-sections.
The results on nuclear-matter radii and matter distributions are presented, and the significance of the data for a halo structure
is discussed. Nuclear-matter distributions obtained for 6He and 8He conform with the concept that both nuclei compose of α-particle like cores and significant neutron halos. The matter distribution
in 11Li exhibits, as expected from previous reaction cross-section studies with nuclear targets, the by far most extended halo
component of all nuclei being investigated. In addition the present data allow a quantitative comparison of the structure
of the He and Li isobares of either the mass number A = 6 or A = 8. The measured differential cross-sections have also been used for probing density distributions as predicted from various
microscopic calculations. A few examples are presented.
