We provide a new and much simpler structure for quasi-ideal adequate transversals of abundant semigroups in terms of spined products, which is similar in nature to that given by Saito in Proc. 8th Symposium on Semigroups, pp. 22–25 (1985) for weakly multiplicative inverse transversals of regular semigroups. As a consequence we deduce a similar result for multiplicative transversals of abundant semigroups and also consider the case when the semigroups are in fact regular and provide some new structure theorems for inverse transversals.  相似文献

Let S be a regular semigroup, and let a ∈ S . Then a variant of S with respect to a is a semigroup with underlying set S and multiplication \circ defined by x \circ y = xay . In this paper, we characterise the regularity preserving elements of regular semigroups; these are the elements a such that (S,\circ) is also regular. Hickey showed that the set of regularity preserving elements can function as a replacement for the unit group when S does not have an identity. As an application, we characterise the regularity preserving elements in certain Rees matrix semigroups. We also establish connections with work of Loganathan and Chandrasekaran, and with McAlister's work on inverse transversals in locally inverse semigroups. We also investigate the structure of arbitrary variants of regular semigroups concentrating on how the local structure of a semigroup affects the structure of its variants. May 24, 1999  相似文献

Weakly simplistic orthodox transversals are introduced in this paper and some characterizations associated with them are obtained. An example is given to demonstrate that weakly simplistic orthodox transversals are proper generalisations of left simplistic orthodox transversals. The related results of Blyth and Almeida Santos on left simplistic inverse transversals obtained in 1996 and Kong and Luo on left simplistic orthodox transversals obtained in 2011 are generalised and amplified. A structure theorem of regular semigroups with weakly simplistic orthodox transversals is also established.  相似文献

Inverse semigroups and orthodox semigroups are either defined in terms of inverses, or in terms of the set of idempotents E(S). In this article, we study analogs of these semigroups defined in terms of inverses modulo Green’s relation \(\mathcal{H}\) , or in terms of the set of completely regular elements H(S). Results are obtained both for the regular and the non-regular cases. We then study the interplays between these new classes of semigroups, as well as with various known classes notably of inverse, orthodox, E-solid and cryptic semigroups.  相似文献

In Billhardt et al. (Semigroup Forum 79:101–118, 2009) the authors introduced the notion of an associate inverse subsemigroup of a regular semigroup, extending the concept of an associate subgroup of a regular semigroup, first presented in Blyth et al. (Glasg. Math. J. 36:163–171, 1994). The semigroups of these two classes admit axiomatic characterisations in terms of unary operations and can, therefore, be considered as unary semigroups. In this paper we introduce the notion of unary semigroup with associate inverse subsemigroup [with associate subgroup] and show that the classes of such unary semigroups form varieties.  相似文献

An associate inverse subsemigroup of a regular semigroup S is a subsemigroup T of S containing a least associate x* of each xS, in relation to the natural partial order ≤. In [1] the authors describe the structure of regular semigroups with an associate inverse subsemigroup, satisfying two natural conditions. Bisimple locally compact topological inverse semigroups whose maximal subgroups are compact and whose set of idempotents is a real interval are studied in this paper. The structure of such semigroups is shown to be entirely determined by their maximal subgroups in case the semigroups come from a certain subclass which includes the connected ones. We consider the class of weakly U-abundant semigroups satisfying the congruence condition (C) containing both the class of regular semigroups and the class of abundant semigroups as its subclasses. The class of weakly U-abundant semigroups with a medial projection satisfying the congruence condition (C) will be particularly studied. This kind of semigroups will be called medial weakly U-abundant semigroups. In this paper, we establish a structure theorem for such semigroups. It is proved that every medial weakly U-abundant semigroup can be expressed by some kind of bands and quasi-Ehresmann semigroups. Our theorem generalizes and enriches the structure theorem given by M. Loganathan in 1987 for regular semigroups with a medial idempotent.  相似文献

In this paper, some properties of good homomorphic images of abundant semigroups with a multiplicative quasi-adequate transversal are obtained. After that, good congruences on a class of abundant semigroups with such transversals are studied. We characterize the good congruences by using the so-called good congruence triple. Furthermore, we prove that any good congruence on a class of abundant semigroups with such transversals can be constructed by the good congruence triple.  相似文献

We describe the semigroups S with 0 that are projective in the category of right S-objects, i.e. of centered right S-operands. Among them are the free semigroups with an adjoined zero, and several characterizations of this subclass are given. Two other classes, one of them close to free semigroups with 0, the other rather far apart, are discussed in detail. The first class consists of semigroups of finite and infinite sequences, with multiplication based on concatenation. The second is formed by the projectives in the category of (S,S)-biobjects.  相似文献

We construct three (large, reduced) incidence algebras whose semigroups of multiplicative functions, under convolution, are anti-isomorphic, respectively, to the semigroups of what we call partitional, permutational and exponential formal power series without constant term, in infinitely many variables x = (x1, x2,…), under plethysm. We compute the Möbius function in each case. These three incidence algebras are the linear duals of incidence bialgebras arising, respectively, from the classes of transversals of partitions (with an order that we define), partitions compatible with permutations (with the usual refinement order), and linear transversals of linear partitions (with the order induced by that on transversals). We define notions of morphisms between partitions, permutations and linear partitions, respectively, whose kernels are defined to be, in each case, transversals, compatible partitions and linear transversals. We introduce, in each case, a pair of sequences of polynomials in x of binomial type, counting morphisms and monomorphisms, and obtain expressions for their connection constants, by summation and Möbius inversion over the corresponding posets of kernels.  相似文献
