X-ray and neutron measurements were carried out for muon catalyzed fusion and related phenomena in solid T2. The X-ray originated from the μ- to α sticking in muon catalyzed fusion; t + t + μ - (μ - α) + 2n was measured for the first time, yielding K α X-ray intensity of (μα) atom and the intensity ratio of K β to K α . Utilizing the phenomena of 3He accumulation in solid T2, the X-ray in the μ- transfer process from () to 3He was detected, providing a formation rate and radiative decay branching-ratio of (t 3Heμ) molecule. From fusion neutron measurements, estimated values were obtained for (ttμ) molecular formation rate as well as sticking probability ωt in ttμ fusion. A possible new insight in t + t fusion reaction process at a low energy limit is also obtained. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

A parametrization of the partial cross section of the 9Be(α, nγ)12C reaction in the α-particle energy range of 0.3–7.9 MeV is presented, along with the count rates of γ quanta. The need to consider subbarrier (Eα < 1.9 MeV) α-particles in plasma for temperatures T α < 0.2 MeV is substantiated. The shapes of the Doppler-broadened 4.44 MeV γ line and the count rates of γ quanta in the plasma of the JET tokamak are measured for the first time and compared to the calculated values. An estimated T α ≲ 160 keV is obtained.  相似文献

Consider an inviscid Burgers equation whose initial data is a Lévy α-stable process Z with α>1. We show that when Z has positive jumps, the Hausdorff dimension of the set of Lagrangian regular points associated with the equation is strictly smaller than 1/α, as soon as α is close to 1. This gives a partially negative answer to a Conjecture of Janicki and Woyczynski (J. Stat. Phys. 86(1–2):277–299, 1997). Along the way, we contradict a recent Conjecture of Z. Shi () about the lower tails of integrated stable processes.  相似文献

Semiexclusive measurements of the two-pion production reaction p(α, α′)pππ have been carried out at an energy of E α = 4.2 GeV at the Saturne-II (Saclay) accelerator with the SPES4-π installation. The two-pion production reaction was investigated by simultaneous registration of the scattered α particle and the secondary proton. The obtained results show that the two-pion decay of the P 11(1440) resonance excited in the target proton in this reaction proceeds predominantly with emission of two pions in the isospin I = 0, S-wave state. The Born approximation, one photon exchange, used for DIS (deep inelastic scattering) is subject to virtual radiative corrections which are related to the long-range Coulomb forces. They may be sizeable for heavy nuclei since Zα is not a small parameter. So far, these corrections are known only for two processes, elastic scattering and bremsstrahlung on the Coulomb field of a point-like target. While the former amplitude acquires only a phase, in the latter case also the cross-section is modified. Although the problem of Coulomb corrections for DIS on nuclei is extremely difficult, it should be challenged rather than “swept under the carpet”. The importance of these radiative corrections is questioned in the present paper. We show that, in the simplest case of a constant hadronic current, the Coulomb corrections provide a phase to the Born amplitude, therefore the cross-section remains the same. Inclusion of more realistic hadronic dynamics changes this conclusion. The example of coherent production of vector mesons off nuclei reveals large effects. So far a little progress has been made deriving lepton wave functions in the Coulomb field of an extended target. Employing available results based on the first-order approximation in Zα, we conclude that the Coulomb corrections are still important for heavy nuclei. We also consider an alternative approach for extended nuclear targets, the eikonal approximation, which we demonstrate to reproduce the known exact results for Coulomb corrections. Calculating electroproduction of vector mesons, we again arrive at a large deviation from the Born approximation. We conclude that one should accept with caution the experimental results for nuclear effects in DIS based on analyses done in the Born approximation. The effect of quantum confinement on the direct bandgap of spherical Si nanocrystals has been modelled theoretically. We conclude that the energy of the direct bandgap at the Γ-point decreases with size reduction: quantum confinement enhances radiative recombination across the direct bandgap and introduces its “red“ shift for smaller grains. We postulate to identify the frequently reported efficient blue emission (F-band) from Si nanocrystals with this zero-phonon recombination. In a dedicated experiment, we confirm the “red“ shift of the F-band, supporting the proposed identification.  相似文献

Summary The temperature of protons, α particles, silicon and iron ions in the solar wind have been determined analysing 140 energy spectra measured aboard the ISEE-2 spacecraft during 1978 and 1979. The data cover the range of proton temperaturesT p from 104 K to 105 K, never explored in detail before. The experimental results show that in this range of temperatures and for solar-wind velocitiesv sw smaller than 370 km s−1, the temperature of the α-particlesT α is smaller thanT p.T α actually increases faster thanT p withv sw; however, forv sw≤420 km s−1 the ratioT α/T p is always less than 4, while previous observations at higher temperatures (105 K to 106 K) are consistent with a constant ratioT α/T p=4. The temperature of the silicon ions, moreover, tends to become independent ofT p for proton temperatures greater than 3·104 K. We consider a type III subfactor NN of finite index with a finite system of braided N-N morphisms which includes the irreducible constituents of the dual canonical endomorphism. We apply α-induction and, developing further some ideas of Ocneanu, we define chiral generators for the double triangle algebra. Using a new concept of intertwining braiding fusion relations, we show that the chiral generators can be naturally identified with the α-induced sectors. A matrix Z is defined and shown to commute with the S- and T-matrices arising from the braiding. If the braiding is non-degenerate, then Z is a “modular invariant mass matrix” in the usual sense of conformal field theory. We show that in that case the fusion rule algebra of the dual system of M-M morphisms is generated by the images of both kinds of α-induction, and that the structural information about its irreducible representations is encoded in the mass matrix Z. Our analysis sheds further light on the connection between (the classifications of) modular invariants and subfactors, and we will construct and analyze modular invariants from SU(n) k loop group subfactors in a forthcoming publication, including the treatment of all SU(2) k modular invariants. At the RIKEN-RAL Muon Facility, μ- to α sticking K β X-rays were observed for the first time taking advantage of the pulsed beam structure. The precision of the present measurements was insufficient to distinguish between theoretical models, however the observed K β /K α X-ray intensity ratio tends to be smaller than most of these theoretical predictions. A procedure for and the results from the energy calibration of a ΔE-E scintillation telescope used in experiments performed at the INR to study the nd-breakup reaction are described. The telescope was calibrated using a beam of α particles with an energy of 30 MeV of the U-120 cyclotron (INP). Secondary protons from the 10,11B(α, p) reaction were recorded by the ΔE-E telescope at several recording angles and with the application of different absorbing foils. The calibration results from the ΔE-E telescope were obtained over the interval E p = 10–30 MeV, allowing us to measure the energies of secondary protons in the ndbreakup reaction when the energy of primary neutrons is 20–60 MeV.  相似文献

Given two selfadjoint operators A and V=V + -V -, we study the motion of the eigenvalues of the operator A(t)=A-tV as t increases. Let α>0 and let λ be a regular point for A. We consider the quantities N +(λ,α), N -(λ,α), N 0(λ,α) defined as the number of the eigenvalues of the operator A(t) that pass point λ from the right to the left, from the left to the right or change the direction of their motion exactly at point λ, respectively, as t increases from 0 to α>0. An abstract theorem on the asymptotics for these quantities is presented. Applications to Schr?dinger operators and its generalizations are given. We review the cross-sections for low-energy π-γ reactions in the framework of chiral perturbation theory. Charged-pion Compton scattering, π-γ → π-γ , is considered up to one-loop order where the pion's internal structure enters through the difference of the electric and magnetic pion polarizability, απ - βπ . The ongoing COMPASS experiment aims at measuring this important structure constant with high statistics using the Primakoff effect. In the same way, the reaction π-γ → π-π0 serves as a test of the QCD chiral anomaly (via the γ3π -coupling constant F γ3π . Furthermore, we calculate the total cross-sections for neutral and charged pion-pair production, π-γ → π-π0π0 and π-γ → π-π+π- , which are governed by the chiral ππ -interaction. Finally, we investigate the radiative (correction) process π-γ → π-γγ and calculate the corresponding two-photon mass spectrum. This information will be useful for analyzing the π- Primakoff scattering events with photons in the final state.  相似文献

We measured the yields of K-series X-rays from (αμ)+ ion formed by muon to alpha sticking as well as the yields and the disappearance rates of fusion neutrons in 3He-free solid and liquid D-T mixtures. The effective sticking probability ωs obtained by neutron measurement is much smaller than any theoretical values so far published, while the discrepancy in αμ X-ray yield seems less significant. Electrospray-ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) was used to investigate for the first time the molecular complexation of L-phenylalanine with hederagenin 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-O-α-L-arabinopyranoside (α-hederin) and its 28-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 4)-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 6)-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (hederasaponin C). The glycoside/L-phenylalanine complexes with a 1:1 molar ratio turned out to be most stable. The structures of the glycosides and L-phenylalanine have been concluded to have an impact on the complexation process.  相似文献

Alpha-decay properties of the neutron-deficient isotope 185Pb were studied at the PSB-ISOLDE (CERN) on-line mass separator using the resonance ionisation laser ion source (RILIS). The nuclei of interest were produced in a 1.4 GeV proton-induced spallation reaction of a uranium graphite target. In contrast to previous studies, two α-decaying isomeric states were identified in 185Pb. The relative production of the isomers, monitored by their α-counting rates, could be significantly changed when a narrow-bandwidth laser at the RILIS setup was used to scan through the atomic hyperfine structure. Based on the atomic hyperfine structure measurements, along with the systematics for heavier odd-mass lead isotopes, the spin and the parity of these states were interpreted as 3/2- and 13/2+ and their nuclear magnetic moments were deduced. The α-decay energy and half-life value for the I π = 13/2+ isomer are E α = 6408(5) keV, T 1/2 = 4.3(2) s, respectively; while for the I π = 3/2- isomer ( T 1/2 = 6.3(4) s) two α-decays with E α1 = 6288(5) keV, I α1 = 56(2)% and E α2 = 6486(5) keV, I α2 = 44(2)% were observed. By observing prompt α-γ coincidences new information on the low-lying states in the daughter isotope 181Hg was obtained. Received: 7 February 2002 / Accepted: 19 February 2002  相似文献

The (α–d) cluster model with parameters determined from electron scattering and pion photoproduction processes is used to calculate the muon capture rate in6Li. The result is found to be better than the results calculated in other models and is in agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

The angular distributions of α + 12C elastic and inelastic (to the 4.44 MeV, 2+; 7.65MeV, 0+; and 9.64MeV, 3 states) scattering at 110 MeV are characterized by pronounced enhancement and strong oscillations at large angles. We performed calculations of the differential cross sections of these reactions assuming a potential scattering in the forward hemisphere and the direct transfer of 8Be cluster θ c.m. > 90°. We showed that the α + 8Be cluster configuration with relative angular momentum L = 0 dominates in the Hoyle state being 4.4 times larger than that in the ground state. This result also contributes to the verification of αBEC hypothesis and is consistent with the conjecture of a dilute 3α structure of the Hoyle state. In the 9.64 MeV, 3 state, a positive interference of all allowed α + 8Be configurations with a dominance of the p-orbital (49%) α-8Be relative motion is found. This finding manifests the exotic 3α, but hardly condensed structure of the 9.64-MeV 3 state in 12C.  相似文献

We evaluate theoretically the radiative decay widths into γΛ and γΣ 0 of the two poles of the Λ(1405) found in chiral unitary theories and we find quite different results for each of the two poles. We show that, depending on which reaction is used to measure the Λ(1405) radiative decays, one gives more weight to one or the other pole, resulting in quite different shapes in the γΛ(Σ 0) invariant-mass distributions. Our results for the high-energy pole agree with those of the empirical determination of the γΛ and γΣ 0 radiative widths (based on an isobar model fitting of the K-p atom data), which are sometimes referred to as “experimental data”. We have made a detailed study of the K - pπ 0 γΛ(Σ 0) and π - pK 0 γΛ(Σ 0) reactions and have shown that they, indeed, lead to different shapes for the γΛ(Σ 0) invariant-mass distributions.  相似文献

γ-Ray yield function has been studied for the proton capture by vanadium in the proton energy range 720–1300 keV. Isobaric analogues of low lying states in52V have been identified. At two resonances theγ-decay andγ-ray angular distributions have been obtained and the branching ratios and the multipole mixing ratios have been deduced. The analogue-antianalogue M1 transition in52Cr is found to be strongly hindered as in other f7/2 nuclei. TheQ-value obtained for this reaction is (10500±2.8) keV and the Coulomb displacement energy is (8.06±0.01) MeV. An upper limit of 2 meV has been obtained for theα- decay strength of the 11.395 MeV state in52Cr.  相似文献
