We study bifurcation from a branch of trivial solutions of semilinear elliptic Dirichlet boundary value problems on star-shaped domains, where the bifurcation parameter is introduced by shrinking the domain. In a bounded domainG with boundary ∂G that consists of components of different dimensions, we consider an elliptic boundary-value problem in complete scales of Banach spaces. The orders of boundary expressions are arbitrary; they are pseudodifferential along ∂G. We prove the theorem on a complete set of isomorphisms and generalize its application. The results obtained are true for elliptic Sobolev problems with a parameter and parabolic Sobolev problems as well as for systems with the Douglis-Nirenberg structure. We introduce a method, based on the Poincaré–Hopf index theorem, to classify solutions to overdetermined problems for fully nonlinear elliptic equations in domains diffeomorphic to a closed disk. Applications to some well-known nonlinear elliptic PDEs are provided. Our result can be seen as the analogue of Hopf's uniqueness theorem for constant mean curvature spheres, but for the general analytic context of overdetermined elliptic problems.  相似文献

Let A be a selfadjoint uniformly elliptic differential operator. Let the underlying domain be bounded. Eigenvalue problems can be solved then, and an arbitrary square integrable function may be developed in a Fourier series relative to the eigenfunctions. In general elliptic differential operators have a continuous spectrum, if the underlying domain is unbounded. In this case the spectral theorem provides a representation of a given function by an integral transformation. The spectral projector can be calculated, if the outgoing and incoming solutions are known (radiation condition). Thus integral transformations may be derived very easily. Four examples will be given: the Fourier sine transform, the Lebedev transform, the transformation belonging to the Dirichlet problem of the plate equation and, finally, the Fourier transformation.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a class of semilinear elliptic Dirichlet problems in a bounded regular domain with cylindrical symmetry involving concave-convex nonlinearities with supercritical growth. Using a new Sobolev embedding theorem and variational method, we show the existence of two positive solutions of the problem. Additionally, we study the quasilinear elliptic equation and obtain a similar result.  相似文献

A classical critical point theorem in presence of splitting established by Brézis-Nirenberg is extended to functionals which are the sum of a locally Lipschitz continuous term and of a convex, proper, lower semicontinuous function. In this paper, we consider the boundary value problem with the shift for nonlinear uniformly elliptic equations of second order in a multiply connected domain. For this sake, we propose a modified boundary value problem for nonlinear elliptic systems of first order equations, and give a priori estimates of solutions for the modified boundary value problem. Afterwards we prove by using the Schauder fixedpoint theorem that this boundary value problem with some conditions has a solution. The result obtained is the generlization of the corresponding theorem on the Poincare boundary value problem.  相似文献

In this paper we present a family of iterative methods to solve numerically second order elliptic problems with multi-scale data using multiple levels of grids. These methods are based upon the introduction of a Lagrange multiplier to enforce the continuity of the solution and its fluxes across interfaces. This family of methods can be interpreted as a mortar element method with complete overlapping domain decomposition for solving numerically multi-scale elliptic problems. We consider nonlinear elliptic problems involving a nonlocal operator: the square root of the Laplacian in a bounded domain with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions. For positive solutions to problems with power nonlinearities, we establish existence and regularity results, as well as a priori estimates of Gidas-Spruck type. In addition, among other results, we prove a symmetry theorem of Gidas-Ni-Nirenberg type.  相似文献

A theorem on error estimates for smooth nonlinear programming problems in Banach spaces is proved that can be used to derive optimal error estimates for optimal control problems. This theorem is applied to a class of optimal control problems for quasilinear elliptic equations. The state equation is approximated by a finite element scheme, while different discretization methods are used for the control functions. The distance of locally optimal controls to their discrete approximations is estimated.  相似文献
