The problem of minimising E(X) subject to the constraints X ? 0, P(X ? b) ? a(0 < a < 1) has been considered, where b is a non-negative random variable with continuous probability distribution. A necessary and sufficient condition for randomised decisions to be superior to the non-randomised one has been derived.  相似文献

We prove that, given a sequence {ak}k=1 with ak ↓ 0 and {ak}k=1 ? l2, reals 0 < ε < 1 and p ∈ [1, 2], and fLp(0, 1), we can find fLp(0, 1) with mes{f ≠ f < ε whose nonzero Fourier–Walsh coefficients ck(f) are such that |ck(f)| = ak for k ∈ spec(f).  相似文献

In this paper, we study various arithmetic properties of the sequence (an)n≥1 satisfying the recurrence relation an = nan–1 + 1, n = 2, 3,..., with the initial term a1 = 0. In particular, we estimate the number of solutions of various congruences with this sequence and the number of distinct prime divisors of its first N terms.  相似文献

We consider the Sturm–Liouville operator generated in the space L 2[0,+∞) by the expression l a,b:= ?d 2/dx 2 +x+(x?b) and the boundary condition y(0) = 0. We prove that the eigenvalues λ n of this operator satisfy the inequalities λ1 0 < λ1 < λ2 0 and λn 0 ≤ λn < λn+1 0, n = 2, 3,..., where {?λn 0} is the sequence of zeros of the Airy function Ai (λ). We find the asymptotics of λn as n → +∞ depending on the parameters a and b.  相似文献

Positive entire solutions of the equation \(\Delta _p u = u^{ - q} in \mathbb{R}^N (N \geqslant 2)\) where 1 < pN, q > 0, are classified via their Morse indices. It is seen that there is a critical power q = q c such that this equation has no positive radial entire solution that has finite Morse index when q > q c but it admits a family of stable positive radial entire solutions when 0 < qq c. Proof of the stability of positive radial entire solutions of the equation when 1 < p < 2 and 0 < qq c relies on Caffarelli–Kohn–Nirenberg’s inequality. Similar Liouville type result still holds for general positive entire solutions when 2 < pN and q > q c. The case of 1 < p < 2 is still open. Our main results imply that the structure of positive entire solutions of the equation is similar to that of the equation with p = 2 obtained previously. Some new ideas are introduced to overcome the technical difficulties arising from the p-Laplace operator.  相似文献

The limit probabilities of the first-order properties of a random graph in the Erd?s–Rényi model G(n, n?α), α ∈ (0, 1), are studied. A random graph G(n, n?α) is said to obey the zero-one k-law if, given any property expressed by a formula of quantifier depth at most k, the probability of this property tends to either 0 or 1. As is known, for α = 1? 1/(2k?1 + a/b), where a > 2k?1, the zero-one k-law holds. Moreover, this law does not hold for b = 1 and a ≤ 2k?1 ? 2. It is proved that the k-law also fails for b > 1 and a ≤ 2k?1 ? (b + 1)2.  相似文献

We investigate the problem (P λ) ?Δu = λb(x)|u| q?2 u + a(x)|u| p?2 u in Ω, ?u/?n = 0 on ?Ω, where Ω is a bounded smooth domain in R N (N ≥ 2), 1 < q < 2 < p, λ ∈ R, and a, b\({C^\alpha }\left( {\overline \Omega } \right)\) with 0 < α < 1. Under certain indefinite type conditions on a and b, we prove the existence of two nontrivial nonnegative solutions for small |λ|. We then characterize the asymptotic profiles of these solutions as λ → 0, which in some cases implies the positivity and ordering of these solutions. In addition, this asymptotic analysis suggests the existence of a loop type component in the non-negative solutions set. We prove the existence of such a component in certain cases, via a bifurcation and a topological analysis of a regularized version of (P λ).  相似文献

The Riesz potentials Laf, 0 < α < ∞, are considered in the framework of a grand Lebesgue space Lap),θ, 1 < p < ∞, θ > 0, on Rn with grandizers a ∈ L1(?n), which are understood in the case α ≥ n/p in terms of distributions on test functions in the Lizorkin space. The images under Iα of functions in a subspace of the grand space which satisfy the so-called vanishing condition is studied. Under certain assumptions on the grandizer, this image is described in terms of the convergence of truncated hypersingular integrals of order α in this subspace.  相似文献

Let S be the set of square-free natural numbers. A Hilbert-Schmidt operator, A, associated to the Möbius function has the property that it maps from \({ \cup _{0 < r < \infty }}{l^r}(s)\) to \({ \cap _{0 < r < \infty }}{l^r}(s)\), injectively. If 0 < r< 2 and ξlr (S), the series \({f_\zeta } = \sum\nolimits_{n \in s} {A\zeta (x)cos2\pi nx} \) converges uniformly to an element of fξR0, i.e., a periodic, even, continuous function with equally spaced Riemann sums, \(\sum\nolimits_{j = 0}^{N - 1} {{f_\zeta }} (j/N) = 0,N = 1,2....\) If \({A_{\zeta \lambda }} = \lambda {\zeta _\lambda },{\zeta _\lambda }(1) = 1\), then ξλ is multiplicative. If \({f_{{\zeta _\lambda }}} \in {\Lambda _a}\), the space of α-Lipschitz continous functions, for some α > 0, and if χ is any Dirichlet character, then L(s, χ) ≠ 0, Res > 1 ? α. Conjecturally, the Generalized Riemann Hypothesis (GRH) is equivalent to fξ ∈ Λα, α < 1/2, ξlr (S), 0 < r < 2. Using a 1991 estimate by R. C. Baker and G. Harman, one finds GRH implies fξ ∈ Λα, α < 1/4, ξlr (S), 0 < r < 2. The question of whether R0 ∩ Λα ≠ {0} for some positive α > 0 is open.  相似文献

We study the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic behavior of blow-up solutions for a general quasilinear elliptic equation of the type ?Δ p u = a(x)u m ?b(x)f(u) with p >  1 and 0 <  mp?1. The main technical tool is a new comparison principle that enables us to extend arguments for semilinear equations to quasilinear ones. Indeed, this paper is an attempt to generalize all available results for the semilinear case with p =  2 to the quasilinear case with p >  1.  相似文献

Algebraic polynomials bounded in absolute value by M > 0 in the interval [–1, 1] and taking a fixed value A at a > 1 are considered. The extremal problem of finding such a polynomial taking a maximum possible value at a given point b < ?1 is solved. The existence and uniqueness of an extremal polynomial and its independence of the point b < ?1 are proved. A characteristic property of the extremal polynomial is determined, which is the presence of an n-point alternance formed by means of active constraints. The dependence of the alternance pattern, the objective function, and the leading coefficient on the parameter A is investigated. A correspondence between the extremal polynomials in the problem under consideration and the Zolotarev polynomials is established.  相似文献

We discuss the discrete p-Laplacian eigenvalue problem,
$$\left\{ \begin{gathered} \Delta (\phi _p (\Delta u(k - 1))) + \lambda a(k)g(u(k)) = 0,k \in \{ 1,2,...,T\} , \hfill \\ u(0) = u(T + 1) = 0, \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \right.$$
where T > 1 is a given positive integer and φ p (x):= |x| p?2 x, p > 1. First, the existence of an unbounded continuum C of positive solutions emanating from (λ, u) = (0, 0) is shown under suitable conditions on the nonlinearity. Then, under an additional condition, it is shown that the positive solution is unique for any λ > 0 and all solutions are ordered. Thus the continuum C is a monotone continuous curve globally defined for all λ > 0.

Let X 1,..., X n, n > 1, be nondegenerate independent chronologically ordered realvalued observables with finite means. Consider the “no-change in the mean” null hypothesis H 0: X 1,..., X n is a randomsample on X with Var X <∞. We revisit the problem of nonparametric testing for H 0 versus the “at most one change (AMOC) in the mean” alternative hypothesis H A: there is an integer k*, 1 ≤ k* < n, such that EX 1 = · · · = EXk* ≠ EXk*+1 = ··· = EX n. A natural way of testing for H 0 versus H A is via comparing the sample mean of the first k observables to the sample mean of the last n - k observables, for all possible times k of AMOC in the mean, 1 ≤ k < n. In particular, a number of such tests in the literature are based on test statistics that are maximums in k of the appropriately individually normalized absolute deviations Δk = |S k/k - (S n - S k)/(n - k)|, where S k:= X 1 + ··· + X k. Asymptotic distributions of these test statistics under H 0 as n → ∞ are obtained via establishing convergence in distribution of supfunctionals of respectively weighted |Z n(t)|, where {Z n(t), 0 ≤ t ≤ 1}n≥1 are the tied-down partial sums processes such that
$${Z_n}\left( t \right): = \left( {{S_{\left\lceil {\left( {n + 1} \right)t} \right\rceil }} - \left[ {\left( {n + 1} \right)t} \right]{S_n}/n} \right)/\sqrt n $$
if 0 ≤ t < 1, and Z n(t):= 0 if t = 1. In the present paper, we propose an alternative route to nonparametric testing for H 0 versus H A via sup-functionals of appropriately weighted |Z n(t)|. Simply considering max1?k<n Δk as a prototype test statistic leads us to establishing convergence in distribution of special sup-functionals of |Z n(t)|/(t(1 - t)) under H 0 and assuming also that E|X|r < ∞ for some r > 2. We believe the weight function t(1 - t) for sup-functionals of |Z n(t)| has not been considered before.

We investigate the nonlinear Schrödinger equation iu t u+|u| p?1 u = 0with 1+ 4/N < p < 1+ 4/N?2 (when N = 1, 2, 1 + 4/N < p < ∞) in energy space H 1 and study the divergent property of infinite-variance and nonradial solutions. If \(M{\left( u \right)^{\frac{{1 - {s_C}}}{{{s_C}}}}}E\left( u \right) \prec M{\left( Q \right)^{\frac{{1 - {s_C}}}{{{s_C}}}}}E\left( Q \right)\) and \(\left\| {{u_0}} \right\|_2^{\frac{{1 - {s_c}}}{{{s_c}}}}\left\| {\nabla {u_0}} \right\|_2^{\frac{{1 - {s_c}}}{{{s_c}}}}{\left\| {\nabla Q} \right\|_2}\), then either u(t) blows up in finite forward time or u(t) exists globally for positive time and there exists a time sequence t n → +∞ such that \({\left\| {\nabla u\left( {{t_n}} \right)} \right\|_2} \to + \infty \). Here Q is the ground state solution of ?(1?s c )QQ+Q p?1 Q = 0. A similar result holds for negative time. This extend the result of the 3D cubic Schrödinger equation obtained by Holmer to the general mass-supercritical and energy-subcritical case.  相似文献

We present several numerical methods and establish their error estimates for the discretization of the nonlinear Dirac equation(NLDE) in the nonrelativistic limit regime, involving a small dimensionless parameter 0 ε≤ 1 which is inversely proportional to the speed of light. In this limit regime, the solution is highly oscillatory in time, i.e., there are propagating waves with wavelength O(ε~2) and O(1) in time and space,respectively. We begin with the conservative Crank-Nicolson finite difference(CNFD) method and establish rigorously its error estimate which depends explicitly on the mesh size h and time step τ as well as the small parameter 0 ε≤ 1. Based on the error bound, in order to obtain ‘correct' numerical solutions in the nonrelativistic limit regime, i.e., 0 ε■ 1, the CNFD method requests the ε-scalability: τ = O(ε~3) and h= O(ε~(1/2)). Then we propose and analyze two numerical methods for the discretization of NLDE by using the Fourier spectral discretization for spatial derivatives combined with the exponential wave integrator and timesplitting technique for temporal derivatives, respectively. Rigorous error bounds for the two numerical methods show that their ε-scalability is improved to τ = O(ε~2) and h = O(1) when 0 ε■1. Extensive numerical results are reported to confirm our error estimates.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a version of the John–Nirenberg inequality suitable for Campanato spaces Cp,β with 0 < p < 1 and show that the spaces Cp,β are independent of the scale p ∈ (0,∞) in sense of norm when 0 < β < 1. As an application, we characterize these spaces by the boundedness of the commutators [b,B α ] j (j = 1, 2) generated by bilinear fractional integral operators B α and the symbol b acting from Lp1 × Lp2 to L q for p1, p2 ∈ (1,∞), q ∈ (0,∞) and 1/q = 1/p1 + 1/p2 ? A stability analysis of the stationary rotation of a system of N identical point Bessel vortices lying uniformly on a circle of radius R is presented. The vortices have identical intensity Γ and length scale γ?1 > 0. The stability of the stationary motion is interpreted as equilibrium stability of a reduced system. The quadratic part of the Hamiltonian and eigenvalues of the linearization matrix are studied. The cases for N = 2,..., 6 are studied sequentially. The case of odd N = 2?+1 ≥ 7 vortices and the case of even N = 2n ≥ 8 vortices are considered separately. It is shown that the (2? + 1)-gon is exponentially unstable for 0 < γR<R*(N). However, this (2? + 1)-gon is stable for γRR*(N) in the case of the linearized problem (the eigenvalues of the linearization matrix lie on the imaginary axis). The even N = 2n ≥ 8 vortex 2n-gon is exponentially unstable for R > 0.  相似文献

For an analytic function f (z) on the unit disk |z| < 1 with f (0) = f′(0) ? 1 = 0 and f (z) ≠ 0, 0 < |z| < 1, we consider the power deformation f c (z) = z(f (z)/z) c for a complex number c. We determine those values c for which the operator \({f \mapsto f_c}\) maps a specified class of univalent functions into the class of univalent functions. A little surprisingly, we will see that the set is described by the variability region of the quantity zf′(z)/ f (z), |z| < 1, for most of the classes that we consider in the present paper. As an unexpected by-product, we show boundedness of strongly spirallike functions.  相似文献

Let {X, X_n; n ≥ 0} be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with EX=0, and assume that EX~2I(|X| ≤ x) is slowly varying as x →∞, i.e., X is in the domain of attraction of the normal law. In this paper, a self-normalized law of the iterated logarithm for the geometrically weighted random series Σ~∞_(n=0)β~nX_n(0 β 1) is obtained, under some minimal conditions.  相似文献

An (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling of a graph G is a bijection f from V(G) ∪ E(G) onto {1, 2,…,|V(G)| + |E(G)|} with the property that the edge-weight set {f(x) + f(xy) + f(y) | xyE(G)} is equal to {a, a + d, a + 2d,...,a + (|E(G)| ? 1)d} for two integers a > 0 and d ? 0. An (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling is called super if the smallest possible labels appear on the vertices. In this paper, we completely settle the problem of the super (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling of the complete bipartite graph Km,n and obtain the following results: the graph Km,n has a super (a, d)-edge-antimagic total labeling if and only if either (i) m = 1, n = 1, and d ? 0, or (ii) m = 1, n ? 2 (or n = 1 and m ? 2), and d ∈ {0, 1, 2}, or (iii) m = 1, n = 2 (or n = 1 and m = 2), and d = 3, or (iv) m, n ? 2, and d = 1.  相似文献
