The motion of spherical microparticles with sizes (50–250 μm) less than or comparable to the wavelength of ultrasound (300 μm) in a gel-like medium is studied. Particle displacement is defined by the acoustic radiation force and the motion of the medium. It is shown that a specific feature of microparticle motion is their complete deceleration for a time of about 1 ms after switching off the ultrasound, and their subsequent displacement is determined entirely by the medium’s relaxation. The aim of the work is to develop ultrasonic means of detecting microcalcifications in breast tissues. 相似文献

We theoretically and experimentally substantiate the method of detecting microcalcifications in mammary gland tissue. Calcium salts accumulate in soft tissues, primarily forming clusters of individual microparticles. We study the motion of solid microparticles distributed in a viscoelastic medium. Displacement of particles is caused by the radiation force occurring as a consequence of energy scattering and absorption of an ultrasound beam focused in the particle region. The radiation force acts over the course of 200 μs, after which the medium with distributed particles relaxes to the initial state. Motion of the medium is tracked by the cross-correlation method with short probing pulses following at a frequency of 5 kHz. The presence of solid microparticles leads to a change in the character of motion of the medium after pulsed ultrasound action. The amplitude and duration of displacements increases in comparison to the homogeneous medium, and the motion character itself becomes significantly complicated. 相似文献

The wrinkling law of annular sheet which is induced by capillary force with inner liquid film is analyzed in this paper. The results show that the inner liquid film can wrinkle the annular sheet when the surface tension of the liquid film reaches a critical value, and the critical value can be dramatically altered by changing the geometry and properties of the annular sheet. The results obtained in this article may hold potential applications in generating three-dimensional structures through capillary effects. 相似文献

Results on visual investigation of a structure of a round minijet under the action of an acoustic field are presented. Characteristic features of the laminar jet structure in the acoustic field were revealed from the data of video and photo records of a flow picture. In the flow we observed characteristic large-scale vortex structures and violent turbulent mixing zones.We revealed formation of vortex structures in a laminar jet under acoustic field and an oscillating jet flow regime at the outlet from the pipe 1.35 mm in diameter. 相似文献

An adsorbed water film always exists between the sample and the probing tip of an atomic force microscope operating at atmospheric conditions. A new expression for the capillary force that acts between the tip and the thin liquid film has been obtained taking into account the size dependence of the surface tension of the liquid described by an exact solution of the Gibbs-Tolman-Koenig-Buff equation. 在均匀液滴氧发生器的研究过程中,液滴的形成是关键技术。利用压电换能器对液流施加扰动,初始扰动沿液流表面呈指数增长,直到将液流夹断生成液滴。通过理论分析,发现在影响液流表面增长率的诸多参数中,碱性过氧化氢溶液(BHP)表面张力的增加和液体分配板板孔直径的减小能够增大扰动增长率,其他参数的改变对增长率的影响非常小。通过分析还发现,BHP液体的喷射流速不同,要取得最大增长率的外界扰动频率也随之变化,外界施加扰动的频率随液流喷射流速的增大而增大。这些结果为均匀液滴氧发生器的实验研究提供有力的参考依据。 相似文献

The motion of a fluid in a rotating spherical cavity with a free light spherical body under the perturbing effect of an external force field perpendicular to the rotation axis is investigated experimentally. It is shown that the external field excites the lagging differential rotation of the core occupying the central position in the cavity under the action of a centrifugal force. The regularities of the averaged rotation of the body and the motion of fluid shaped as the Taylor-Proudman column are investigated. The sequential threshold manifestation of various instability types of the Taylor-Proudman column with an increase in the velocity of the differential body rotation is found. Initially a new type of instability manifests itself, and a two-dimensional system of vortexes elongated along the rotation axis is formed inside the column. Then the development of azimuthal two-dimensional waves at the column boundary is observed. It is shown that the Reynolds number calculated through the velocity of the differential body rotation determines the threshold transitions. A map of motion modes of a fluid in a spherical layer on a plane of dimensionless parameters is plotted. 相似文献

Physical processes accompanying the flow of a conducting bubble liquid in crossed electric and magnetic fields are considered.
Based on the general equations of mechanics of multiphase media, we develop a one-dimensional model of the flow of and heat
exchange in a compressible bubble liquid when the phases are not in thermal and velocity equilibrium. The model is numerically
investigated. It is demonstrated that, when the bubble liquid flows along the electromagnetic force vector, the bubbles lag
behind the carrying flow and are compressed and warmed up. This causes oscillations of the bubble volume, as well as oscillations
of the parameters of both the disperse and carrying phase. In particular, the compression of the bubbles reduces the volumetric
gas content, as well as increases the effective conductivity of the flow and the electromagnetic force in the downstream direction.
This sets conditions for crisis of the bubble flow when the electromagnetic force expels the bubbles against the main stream.
On the basis of the solutions obtained, the efficiency of a gas compressor is calculated. 相似文献

A phenomenon that is similar to the well-known stochastic resonance in nonlinear oscillators but is caused by the turbulence in a circular submerged jet under a harmonic acoustic action, rather than by noise, is considered. It is shown that, at a fixed distance from the nozzle, a variation of the initial turbulence level leads to a non-monotonic variation of the wave amplitude at the frequency of the acoustic action, namely, to the appearance of an amplitude maximum at a certain level of the initial turbulence. The qualitative explanation of the phenomenon consists in that the initial turbulence acts on the system in a way similar to that of external noise: it changes the effective parameters of the system and, in particular, shifts the spectral maxima, which is equivalent to a change in a certain “eigenfrequency.” Such a change in the effective parameters of the jet leads to a phenomenon similar to the stochastic resonance. 相似文献

Under a simple shear flow and in a static external magnetic field, the production of defects in the director-aligning regime of nematic liquid crystals has been investigated in terms of the Leslie-Ericksen theory. The equation of motion of the nematic director, which conforms to the driven over-damped sine-Gordon equation, has a soliton solution of the amplitude w. We show that the stationary state with the director uniformly oriented at a Leslie angle is only a metastable state and the potential, which governs the motion of the director, has a nmnber of stable stationary states. For a strong magnetic field, the higher energy barrier between the stable and unstable states leads the director to be locked along the magnetic field direction. However, at the appropriate shear rate and magnetic field the defects, which appear as a stable solitary solution, can be nucleated from a uniformly aligned nematic liquid crystal. We have calculated the stationary travelling velocity of the solitary waves and the distance between a pair of defects. 相似文献
