We study social choice functions represented by Moulin's dominance solvable games. We first show that dominance solvability of games is independent of the order in which dominated strategies are deleted. This implies that the perfect equilibrium of a game with perfect information generally coincides with its solution according to dominance solvability. Then we show that a large class of d-solvable games yields the same social choice functions as those represented by games of perfect information. We show that for three alternatives and all n relatively prime to 6 there exists a method of social choice fractional elimination, which can be represented by a kingmaker tree. This covers some cases not previously covered by Moulin. We also find numerous examples.  相似文献

A multi-choice game is a generalization of a cooperative game in which each player has several activity levels. Cooperative games form a subclass of the class of multi-choice games.This paper extends some solution concepts for cooperative games to multi-choice games. In particular, the notions of core, dominance core and Weber set are extended. Relations between cores and dominance cores and between cores and Weber sets are extensively studied. A class of flow games is introduced and relations with non-negative games with non-empty cores are investigated.  相似文献

A non-cooperative stochastic dominance game is a non-cooperative game in which the only knowledge about the players' preferences and risk attitudes is presumed to be their preference orders on the set ofn-tuples of pure strategies. Stochastic dominance equilibria are defined in terms of mixed strategies for the players that are efficient in the stochastic dominance sense against the strategies of the other players. It is shown that the set of SD equilibria equals all Nash equilibria that can be obtained from combinations of utility functions that are consistent with the players' known preference orders. The latter part of the paper looks at antagonistic stochastic dominance games in which some combination of consistent utility functions is zero-sum over then-tuples of pure strategies.  相似文献

This paper examines the relation between adjustment patterns and equilibrium selection in laboratory experiments with two types of simple signaling games. One type of game has two Nash equilibria, of which only one is sequential. The other type has two sequential equilibria, only one of them satisfying equilibrium dominance. For each type of game, the results show that variations in the payoff structure, which do not change the equilibrium configuration, generate different adjustment patterns. As a consequence, the less refined equilibrium is more frequently observed for some payoff structures, while the more refined equilibrium is more frequently observed in others.  相似文献

The Nash equilibrium solution concept for games is based on the assumption of expected utility maximization. Reference dependent utility functions (in which utility is determined not only by an outcome, but also by the relationship of the outcome to a reference point) are a better predictor of behavior than expected utility. In particular, loss aversion is an important element of such utility functions.  We extend games to include loss aversion characteristics of the players. We define two types of loss-aversion equilibrium, a solution concept endogenizing reference points. The two types reflect different procedures of updating reference points during the game. Reference points emerge as expressions of anticipation which are fulfilled.  We show existence of myopic loss-aversion equilibrium for any extended game, and compare it to Nash equilibrium. Comparative statics show that an increase in loss aversion of one player can affect her and other players' payoffs in different directions. A bi-matrix game with fuzzy goal is shown to be equivalent to a (crisp) non-linear programming problem in which the objective as well as all constraint functions are linear except two constraint functions, which are quadratic. This equivalence is further extended to bi-matrix games with fuzzy pay-offs, as well as to bi-matrix games with fuzzy goals and fuzzy payoffs, whose equilibrium strategies are conceptualized by employing a suitable ranking (defuzzification) function.  相似文献

In this paper we derive a multi-choice TU game from r-replica of exchange economy with continuous, concave and monetary utility functions, and prove that the cores of the games converge to a subset of the set of Edgeworth equilibria of exchange economy as r approaches to infinity. We prove that the dominance core of each balanced multi-choice TU game, where each player has identical activity level r, coincides with the dominance core of its corresponding r-replica of exchange economy. We also give an extension of the concept of the cover of the game proposed by Shapley and Shubik (J Econ Theory 1: 9-25, 1969) to multi-choice TU games and derive some sufficient conditions for the nonemptyness of the core of multi-choice TU game by using the relationship among replica economies, multi-choice TU games and their covers.  相似文献

In this paper, we extend the notion of diagonally strictly concave functions and use it to provide a sufficient condition for uniqueness of Nash equilibrium in some concave games. We then provide an alternative proof of the existence and uniqueness of Nash equilibrium for a network resource allocation game arising from the so-called Kelly mechanism by verifying the new sufficient condition. We then establish that the equilibrium resulting from the differential pricing in the Kelly mechanism is related to a normalised Nash equilibrium of a game with coupled strategy space.  相似文献

We study nonzero-sum stopping games with randomized stopping strategies. The existence of Nash equilibrium and ɛ-equilibrium strategies are discussed under various assumptions on players random payoffs and utility functions dependent on the observed discrete time Markov process. Then we will present a model of a market game in which randomized stopping times are involved. The model is a mixture of a stochastic game and stopping game. The known variants of the Folk theorem characterize the sets of equilibria for repeated games. The present paper considers dominance solutions of finitely repeated games and discounted supergames with perturbed payoff functions. The paper shows that for a normal form game the set of dominance solution payoff vectors of the T-fold repetitions converges to the set of feasible and individually rational payoffs as T tends to infinity and the perturbation value tends to 0. Two games of interacting between a coalition of players in a marketplace and the residual players acting there are discussed, along with two approaches to fair imputation of gains of coalitions in cooperative games that are based on the concepts of the Shapley vector and core of a cooperative game. In the first game, which is an antagonistic one, the residual players try to minimize the coalition's gain, whereas in the second game, which is a noncooperative one, they try to maximize their own gain as a coalition. A meaningful interpretation of possible relations between gains and Nash equilibrium strategies in both games considered as those played between a coalition of firms and its surrounding in a particular marketplace in the framework of two classes of n-person games is presented. A particular class of games of choosing partners and forming coalitions in which models of firms operating in the marketplace are those with linear constraints and utility functions being sums of linear and bilinear functions of two corresponding vector arguments is analyzed, and a set of maximin problems on polyhedral sets of connected strategies which the problem of choosing a coalition for a particular firm is reducible to are formulated based on the firm models of the considered kind.  相似文献

This paper investigates special cases of abstract economies, i.e., n-person games with multiple payoff functions. Dominances with certain convex cones and interactive strategies are introduced in such game settings. Gradients of payoff functions are involved to establish certain Lagrange or Kuhn–Tucker conditions which may lead to some algorithms to actually compute an equilibrium. Sufficient and necessary conditions for such multiple payoff constrained n-person games are obtained.  相似文献

The aim of the paper is to explore strategic reasoning in strategic games of two players with an uncountably infinite space of strategies the payoff of which is given by McNaughton functions—functions on the unit interval which are piecewise linear with integer coefficients. McNaughton functions are of a special interest for approximate reasoning as they correspond to formulas of infinitely valued Lukasiewicz logic. The paper is focused on existence and structure of Nash equilibria and algorithms for their computation. Although the existence of mixed strategy equilibria follows from a general theorem (Glicksberg, 1952) [5], nothing is known about their structure neither the theorem provides any method for computing them. The central problem of the article is to characterize the class of strategic games with McNaughton payoffs which have a finitely supported Nash equilibrium. We give a sufficient condition for finite equilibria and we propose an algorithm for recovering the corresponding equilibrium strategies. Our result easily generalizes to n-player strategic games which don't need to be strictly competitive with a payoff functions represented by piecewise linear functions with real coefficients. Our conjecture is that every game with McNaughton payoff allows for finitely supported equilibrium strategies, however we leave proving/disproving of this conjecture for future investigations.  相似文献

Abstract

The allocation problem of rewards or costs is a central question for individuals and organizations contemplating cooperation under uncertainty. The involvement of uncertainty in cooperative games is motivated by the real world where noise in observation and experimental design, incomplete information and further vagueness in preference structures and decision-making play an important role. The theory of cooperative ellipsoidal games provides a new game theoretical angle and suitable tools for answering this question. In this paper, some solution concepts using ellipsoids, namely the ellipsoidal imputation set, the ellipsoidal dominance core and the ellipsoidal stable sets for cooperative ellipsoidal games, are introduced and studied. The main results contained in the paper are the relations between the ellipsoidal core, the ellipsoidal dominance core and the ellipsoidal stable sets of such a game.  相似文献

Here we study the structure of Nash equilibrium points forN-person games. For two-person games we observe that exchangeability and convexity of the set of equilibrium points are synonymous. This is shown to be false even for three-person games. For completely mixed games we get the necessary inequality constraints on the number of pure strategies for the players. Whereas the equilibrium point is unique for completely mixed two-person games, we show that it is not true for three-person completely mixed game without some side conditions such as convexity on the equilibrium set. It is a curious fact that for the special three-person completely mixed game with two pure strategies for each player, the equilibrium point is unique; the proof of this involves some combinatorial arguments.  相似文献

A directed graph game consists of a cooperative game with transferable utility and a digraph which describes limited cooperation and the dominance relation among the players. Under the assumption that only coalitions of strongly connected players are able to fully cooperate, we introduce the digraph-restricted game in which a non-strongly connected coalition can only realize the sum of the worths of its strong components. The Myerson value for directed graph games is defined as the Shapley value of the digraph-restricted game. We establish axiomatic characterizations of the Myerson value for directed graph games by strong component efficiency and either fairness or bi-fairness.  相似文献

Polytope Games     
Starting from the definition of a bimatrix game, we restrict the pair of strategy sets jointly, not independently. Thus, we have a set , which is the set of all feasible strategy pairs. We pose the question of whether a Nash equilibrium exists, in that no player can obtain a higher payoff by deviating. We answer this question affirmatively for a very general case, imposing a minimum of conditions on the restricted sets and the payoff. Next, we concentrate on a special class of restricted games, the polytope bimatrix game, where the restrictions are linear and the payoff functions are bilinear. Further, we show how the polytope bimatrix game is a generalization of the bimatrix game. We give an algorithm for solving such a polytope bimatrix game; finally, we discuss refinements to the equilibrium point concept where we generalize results from the theory of bimatrix games.  相似文献
