The thermal decomposition course of copper acetate monohydrate (CuAc) was examined on heating up to 600°C at various rates, by TG, DTA and DSC. Non-isothermal kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were determined in air or nitrogen. SEM was used to describe the decomposition course and the solid products were identified by IR and XRD analysis. The results indicated that CuAc was dehydrated at 190°C and then partially decomposed at 220°C, giving rise to CuO in addition to a minor portion of Cu2O and Cu4O3. The last two oxides seemed to facilitate the decomposition of the rest of the anhydrous acetate. Cu2O and Cu4O3 were oxidized in air at >400°C, in a process that did not occur in nitrogen.It is a pleasure to thank the Queen's University of Belfast, particularly the staff of the Electron Microscope Unit for assistance in obtaining the electron micrographs. The thermal decomposition of copper nitrate trihydrate (CuNTH); Cu(NO3)2·3H2O was studied up to 600°C by thermogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) in a dynamic atmosphere of air. The thermal events occurring throughout the decomposition course were characterized on the basis of spectral analyses using infrared spectroscopy (IR), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Non-isothermal kinetic parameters were determined. The results showed that the decomposition course involves two main processes, firstly the formation of hydroxy copper nitrate and secondly, the decomposition of this compound to yield CuO. Pathways were suggested that may be involved in the decomposition course.  相似文献

The melting and decomposition behaviour of carnallite was investigated in the closed system under dynamic heating conditions and in the open system under dynamic and quasi-isothermal and quasi-isobaric conditions in the temperature range between 20 and 300°. DTA heating and cooling cycles in the closed system illustrate the incongruent melting of carnallite and the occurrence of different magnesium chloride hydrate phases. The thermal decomposition under quasi-isothermal and quasi-isobaric conditions begins at a pressure of at least 100 kPa from the melt and under reduced pressure from the solid. In any case KCl · MgCl2 · 2 H2O is formed which is decomposed to a basic product KMgCl2.84–2.90(OH0.10–0.16.
Zusammenfassung Die Schmelz- und Zersetzungseigenschaften des Carnallits wurden im geschlossenen System unter dynamischen Heizbedingungen und im offenen System under dynamischen und quasi-isothermen und quasi-isobaren Bedingungen im Temperaturbereich von 20 bis 300°C untersucht. DTA Heiz- und Kühlzyklen im geschlossenen System verdeutlichen das inkongruente Schmelzen des Carnallits und das Auftreten verschiedener Magnesiumchlorid-Hydratphasen. Die thermische Zersetzung beginnt unter quasi-isothermen und quasi-isobaren Bedingungen bei einem Druck von mindestens 100 kPa aus der Schmelze und unter verminderten Druck aus der festen Phase. Die Zersetung verläuft stets über KCl · MgCl2 · 2 H2O zu einem basischen Produkt KMgCl2.84–2.90(OH)0.10–0.16.

The melting and decomposition behaviour of the double salts MBr·MgBr2·6H2O (M=K, NH4, Rb, Cs) has been investigated in a closed system under dynamic and quasi-isothermal and quasi-isobaric conditions between 20°C and 300°C or 600°C, respectively. DTA heating and cooling cycles illustrate the melting behaviour of the double salts and give information on the melting point of these substances.The thermal decomposition of double salts under quasi-isothermal and quasi-isobaric conditions takes place in the melt (with the exception of RbBr·MgBr2·6H2O) and under reduced pressure in the solid phase. A double salt of the type MBr·MgBr2·6H2O is formed as a stable intermediate. The final product of all types of thermal decomposition are basic products with different hydroxide or oxide contents, respectively.
Zusammenfassung In einem abgeschlossenem System wurde unter dynamischen und quasiisothermen und quasiisobaren Bedingungen im Temperaturbereich zwischen 20°C und 300°C oder 600°C das Schmelz- und Zersetzungsverhalten der Doppelsalze MBrMgBr2·6H2O (mitM=K, NH4, Rb, Cs) untersucht. DTA-Heiz- und Kühlzyklen zeigen das Schmelzverhalten der Doppelsalze und geben gleichzeitig Auskunft über den Schmelzpunkt dieser Verbindungen.Die thermische Zersetzung der Doppelsalze unter quasiisothermen und quasiisobaren Bedingungen erfolgt ausgehend von der Schmelze (mit Ausnahme von RbBrMgBr2·6H2O) und unter vermindertem Druck ausgehend vom Feststoff. Ein Doppelsalz des Typs MBrMgBr2·2H2O wird als Zwischenprodukt gebildet. Das Endprodukt bei allen Zersetzungstypen sind basische Produkte mit unterschiedlichem Hydroxidoder Oxidgehalt.

Summary Several modern thermoanalytical methods were applied to investigate the complex system of dust.Information about physical parameters as weight changes is obtained by thermogravimetry and derivative thermogravimetry (TG/DTG), energy changes were detected by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Specific surfaces were determined.Information about chemical parameters is obtained by thermal evolution analysis (TEA) of volatile organic components, by the sulphur specific TDS (temperature differentiated sulphur detection) method. Thermo-gastitrimetry (TGT) combined with a Derivatograph was applied for the analysis of larger samples.The combined use of these techniques allows to differentiate several groups of components, liberated, dissoziated or oxidized at different temperatures, so that a characterization of the complex sample is possible.

Zusammenfassung Verschiedene moderne thermoanalytische Methoden wurden eingesetzt, um das komplexe System Staub zu untersuchen.Information über physikalische Parameter wie Gewichtsänderungen erhält man durch Thermogravimetrie und derivierte Thermogravimetrie (TG/DTG), Energieänderungen werden durch Differential-Thermoanalyse (DTA) und Differential-Scanning-Calorimetry (DSC) aufgezeichnet und spezifische Oberflächen mit Hilfe des Thermogravimaten untersucht.Information über chemische Parameter erhält man durch Thermal Evolution Analysis (TEA) der flüchtigen organischen Verbindungen, durch S-spezifische und C-spezifische temperaturdifferenzierte Analysen (TDS und TDC) und durch den Einsatz der Thermo-Gas-Titrimetrie (TGT), die mit einem Derivatographen gekoppelt zur Analyse größerer Proben eingesetzt wird.Der kombinierte Einsatz dieser Techniken erlaubt es, verschiedene Verbindungsgruppen, die bei verschiedenen Temperaturen freigesetzt, dissoziiert oder oxidiert werden, zu unterscheiden, so daß eine Charakterisierung der komplexen Probe möglich wird.

The mechanical properties of the self-reinforced polyethylene increase due to the formation of a shish-kebab structure.Thermal analysis demonstrated that high-strength-PE has a heat deflection temperature 20C higher than normal PE. The DSC analyses showed that the presence of a crystalline structure exhibits high thermal stability. This structural form does not relax at high temperatures as is shown by the fact that upon re-crystallization there were enough stable nuclei to build a similar crystalline structure.  相似文献

Thallous nitrate was investigated using TG, DTA, and DSC in conjunction with gas chromatography and X-ray diffraction analysis. TG showed a weight loss beginning at 380° with a 50 percent loss by 520°. This weight loss was demonstrated to be caused by boiling rather than thermal decomposition. The DTA extrapolated onset temperature for the boiling was 467°. Two solid-solid transition points and the melting point were determined by DTA to be 77, 145, and 207°, respectively. Heat of transition values determined by DSC were 0.15 kcal/mole at 77°, 0.87 kcal/ mole at 145°, and 2.18 kcal/mole for the melting at 207°.
Zusammenfassung Thallium(I)nitrat wurde mittels TG, DTA und DSC, mit Gaschromatographie und Röntgendiffraktionsanalyse gekoppelt, untersucht. TG zeigte einen beginnenden Gewichtsverlust ab etwa 380° und einen Verlust von 50% bis 520°. Es wurde gezeigt, daß dieser Gewichtsverlust eher vom Sieden als von der thermischen Zersetzung verursacht wird. Die aus DTA-Daten extrapolierte Anfangs-Siedetemperatur war 467°. Die Fest-festphasen Übergangspunkte und der Schmelzpunkt lagen, wie durch DTA ermittelt, bei 77, 145, bzw. 207°. Die mittels DSC bestimmten Wärmen der Übergangswerte betrugen 0.15 kcal/Mol bei 77°, 0.87 kcal/Mol bei 145° und 2.18 kcal/Mol für das Schmelzen bei 207°.

Résumé On a étudié le nitrate de thallium(I) par TG, ATD et DSC conjointement à la Chromatographie en phase gazeuse et à l'analyse par diffraction des rayons X. La TG révèle une perte de masse à partir d'environ 380°, avec une perte de 50 p. c. à 520°. On montre que cette perte de masse est provoquée par l'ébullition plutôt que par la décomposition thermique. La température initiale de l'ébullition, extrapolée à partir des données ATD, est de 467°. Deux points de transition solide-solide ainsi que le point de fusion ont été déterminés par ATD et correspondent aux températures respectives de 77, 145 et 207°. Les valeurs des chaleurs de transition ont été déterminées par DSC: 0.15 kcal, mol–1 à 77°, 0.87 kcal. mol–1 à 145 et 2.18 kcal. mol–1 pour la fusion à 207°.

Pyrazolinoimides undergo denitrogenation reaction upon heating to form the cyclopropane derivatives and the corresponding olefins. They are studied by dynamic TG, DTG, DTA and DSC techniques. The enthalpies and kinetic parameters are evaluated. Further decomposition of the compounds led to carbon, and in some cases, polymeric products are suspected to be formed. The fluorene derivatives behave differently and undergo irreversible isomerization in the melt prior to decomposition. Practical mechanistic steps are postulated in order to explain the formation of the decomposition, rearrangement and isomerization products during thermal treatment.  相似文献

The variations in the thermoanalytical curves for three differently produced powders of hydrous zirconia are discussed in connection with X-ray measurements and powdermetallurgical characterization. They were shown to characterize the ZrO2-H2O bonding and the thermal treatment for the calcination of hydrous zirconia. They allowed selection of the product with the most favourable microstructure for a high sinter activity, an explanation of the phase formation and phase transformations, and estimations of the energy content of the amorphous material and the thermal stability of the tetragonal phase. It was shown that thermal analysis is an appropriate method for the optimizing of ZrO2-powder production.
Zusammenfassung Die Unterschiede der thermoanalytischen Effekte für drei verschieden hergestellte wasserhaltige ZrO2-Pulver wurden in Verbindung mit Röntgenuntersuchungen und der pulvermetallurgischen Charakterisierung diskutiert. Es zeigte sich, daß man mit ihrer Hilfe die ZrO2-H2O-Bindung und die thermische Behandlung bei der Kalzinierung des wasserhaltigen ZrO2 formulieren kann. Sie erlauben, das Produkt mit der günstigsten Mikrostruktur für eine hohe Sinteraktivität auszuwählen, die Phasenbildung un Phasenumwandlungen zu erklären, den Energieinhalt des amorphen Materials und die thermische Stabilität der tetragonalen Phase abzuschätzen. Es erwies sich, daß die Thermoanalyse eine geeignete Methode zur Optimierung der ZrO2-Pulver-Herstellung ist.

NH4Y and NH4LaY-type zeolite catalysts were prepared by cyclic ion-exchange of a synthetic Linde Y-zeolite. The release of ammonia and water were followed by evolved gas analysis (automatic thermogastitrimetric equipment) as well as with a continuous selective water detector. The ion-exchangeability of NH 4 + for La3+ on the zeolite was also investigated. The capacity of the NH4Y-zeolite was found to be 3.60 mequiv./g calcined zeolite. After a three times repeated ion-exchange process, 88.9 % of the ammonia was replaced by lanthanum.  相似文献

The influences of inactive, flowing atmospheres (noble gases, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, synthetic air) and vacuum (10?2 and 10?5 torr) on the thermal decompositions of inorganic and organic substances are discussed on the basis of literature and experimental data. The fact that it is necessary to use a controlled gas atmosphere from the preparation of samples up to the study of the mechanisms of solid-state reactions is proved by several examples. Results are presented relating to the decompositions of silver(I) oxalate, potassium acetate, and a natural mixture of clays and alkaline earth metal carbonates, to the behaviour ofβ-manganese(IV) oxide and to the low-temperature dehydroxylation of kaolin, as studied especially by TG, DTG, DTA and MS methods.  相似文献

Two types of laboratory synthesized polyurethanes (PU), for medical application, were investigated using the DSC method. Each PU was tested with, and without, additional purification. Commercial polyurethanes were also studied for comparison. It was found that the applied purification process influences the morphology of the polyurethanes. Changes were especially observed in the short- and long-order regions of the polymer matrix.  相似文献

DSC investigations have been used to characterize the microfibril-matrix complex of keratin consisting of helical low-sulfur microfibrils in a nonhelical high-sulfur matrix. The corresponding DSC curves display one or two endothermic peaks in the temperature range 230°–255°C. The first peak is a microfibrillar peak and the second one a matrix peak (cystine decomposition peak). DSC investigations of extended keratins have shown that the microfibrillar peak is a helix peak. DSC investigations of annealed keratins confirm our earlier assumption that the helix peak is no helix melting peak but an irreversible helix unfolding, superimposed by various decomposition reactions. The matrix peak of the above described keratin samples is less reproducible than the corresponding helix peak and cannot be used for further characterization studies of keratins.Dedicated to Professor E. Solvates of metal 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetates were investigated by means of DSC and simultaneous TG-DTA. The desolvation temperatures are influenced by the nature and quantity of the solvent molecules, both dependent on the nature of the metal cation and the solvent medium applied for the preparation of the salts.
Zusammenfassung Solvate von Metall-2,4-dichlorphenoxyacetaten wurden durch DSC und simultane TG-DTA untersucht. Die Temperatur der Freisetzung der Solvatmoleküle wird von ihrer Art und Menge beeinflußt, die ihrerseits von der Natur des Metallkations und dem zur Präparation der Solvate angewandten Lösungsmittel abhängen.

The environment can influence the thermal decomposition of an oxysalt by;
  1. causing a change in the course of chemical decomposition or
  2. causing an alteration in the physical nature of the solid product or solid intermediates.
The environment can also effect the equilibrium condition or the course of the kinetics. The use of special techniques such as thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, or differential scanning calorimetry to study the decomposition means that a special environment is imposed on the oxysalt and this effects the thermal decomposition process. The influence of the environment in changing the course of a chemical reaction can be illustrated by reference to the decomposition of zinc oxalate and nickel oxalate. The DTA shows that the decompositions are endothermic in inert atmospheres but exothermic in air or oxygen. The reasons are different however in each case. Thus although the product of decomposition of zinc oxalate is zinc oxide the change in character of the decomposition from endothermic to exothermic is due to the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide in the presence of oxygen. The similar change in the character of nickel oxalate decomposition is however due to nickel formation in an inert atmosphere but nickel oxide in air or oxygen. The alteration in the physical nature of the solid products is illustrated by surface area measurements on solid residues from the decomposition of carbonates or oxalates. The kinetic and chemical equilibrium studies showing the influence of environment are illustrated by reference to dehydration studies, carbonate and oxalate decompositions.  相似文献

The thermal decomposition of tris(ethylenediamine)copper(II) sulphate has been studied using TG, DTG and DTA. The different stages of decomposition have been identified by these techniques in conjunction independent pyrolysis and X-ray diffraction. The kinetics and mechanism of the first two stages of deamination of the complex were evaluated. The activation parameters for the deamination reaction were computed from the TG and DTA curves using four integral methods. The two stages of deamination follow the mechanism of random nucleation with the formation of one nucleus on each particle (Mampel equation). The thermodynamic parameter namely heat of reaction (DH) for the two deamination processes was also evaluated.
Zusammenfassung Mittels TG, DTG und DTA wurde die thermische Zersetzung von Tris(ethylendiamin)-kupfer(II)-sulfat untersucht. Anhand dieser Methoden wurden in Verbindung mit einer gesonderten Pyrolyse und Röntgendiffraktion die einzelnen Schritte dieser Zersetzung identifiziert. Weiterhin wurde die Kinetik und der Mechanismus der beiden ersten Schritte der Desaminierung des Komplexes entwickelt. Unter Anwendung von vier Integralmethoden wurden aus den TG- und DTA-Kurven die Aktivierungsparameter der Desaminierungsreaktion berechnet. Beide Schritte der Desaminierung verlaufen nach dem Mechanismus der Random-Keimbildung mit der Bildung von einem Keim pro Partikel (Mampel-Gleichung). Die Reaktionswärme der zwei Desaminierungsprozesse wurde ebenfalls bestimmt.

Niobium(V) chloride aryloxides [NbCl3(OAr)2] and [NbCl2(OAr)3] (Oar = —OC6H4Bu t -4 and —OC6H4OMe-4) have been prepared by reacting NbCl5 with two and three equivalents of the respective phenol in CCl4. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight determination, i.r., 1H-n.m.r., u.v.–vis. and MS techniques. Thermal behaviour (t.g.–d.t.) of the complexes has also been studied and decomposition schemes proposed. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters namely, the activation energy 'E *', the frequency factor 'A', entropy of activation 'S' and specific rate constant 'kr' etc. have been calculated employing the Coats–Redfern equation. The non-isothermal t.g. data has also been utilized to determine the most probable mechanism and corresponding activation energy for the decomposition of niobium(V) complexes by testing seven different theoretically possible decomposition mechanisms.  相似文献

The experiments involves three types of industrial wastes produced by iron works, which create serious hazards to the natural environment: (1) paint-shop sludge, (2) oil-polluted diatomite, and (3) oil-polluted scale. The choice of an appropriate and safe storage method should be based on extensive physicochemical examination.DTA, in combination with other data, allows characterization of the combustible properties of wastes. Thermoanalytical measurements were carried out in a dynamic air atmosphere. Enthalpy values were calculated from peak areas of DTA curves. Thermoanalytical data were compared with calorimetric results obtained with an oxygen bomb.
Zusammenfassung Drei Arten industrieller Abtälle eines Stahlwerks, die schwere Umweltbelastungen darstellen, wurden untersucht: (1) Lackiererei-Schlamm, (2) ölhaltiger Diatomit, (3) ölhaltiger Kesselstein. Geeignete sichere Deponien setzen ausführliche physikalisch-chemische Untersuchungen voraus. DTA in Kombination mit anderen Untersuchungen erlaubt die Charakterisierung der Verbrennungseigenschaften der Abfälle. Die thermoanalytischen Untersuchungen erfolgten im Luftstrom, die Verbrennungswärmen wurden aus den DTA-peak-Flächen berechnet. Die Ergebnisse werden mit denen kalorimetrischer Messungen in einer Sauerstoffbombe verglichen.

The changes in surface area and density which occur during the decomposition of eight nickel oxysalts have been reported. Surface area peaks were observed in the temperature range 473 K to 673 K. An equation relating to the number of product particles (n) produced from a single particle of original material has been derived. Logn was shown to vary linearly with temperature, wheren is the number of product particles formed from one original reactant particle.
Zusammenfassung Es wird über die Veränderungen der Oberfläche und Dichte berichtet, welche bei der Zersetzung von acht Nickeloxysalzen auftreten. Oberflächenpeaks wurden im Temperaturbereich von 473 K bis 673 K beobachtet. Eine Gleichung wurde abgeleitet, welche sich auf die Zahl (n) der sich aus einem einzigen Partikel der Ausgangssubstanz bildenden Produktpartikel bezieht. Es wurde bewiesen, daß sich logn linear zur Temperatur ändert, wobein die Zahl der sich aus einem reagierenden Ausgangspartikel bildenden Produktpartikel ist.

Résumé Etude des changements de surface spécifique et de densité pendant la décomposition de huits oxysels du nickel entre 473 K à 673 K. En désignant parn le nombre de particules issues d'une particule unique du matériau initial, on montre que logn varie linéairement avec la température.
