We establish the superfluidity theory of coherent light in waveguides made of nonlinear polar crystals.It is found that the pairing state of photons in a nonlinear polar crystal is the photonic superfluid state.The photon-photon interaction potential is an attractive effective interaction by exchange of virtual optical phonons.In the traveling-wave pairing state of photons,the photon number is conserved,which is similar to the Bose-Einstein condensation(BEC) state of photons.In analogy to the BCS-BEC crossover theory of superconductivity,we derive a set of coupled order parameter and number equations,which determine the solution of the traveling-wave superfluid state of photons.This solution gives the critical velocity of light in a self-focusing nonlinear waveguide.The most important property of the photonic superfluid state is that the system of photon pairs evolves without scattering attenuations. 相似文献

Spatial solitons are studied in a planar waveguide filled with nonlinear liquids. Spectral and spatial measurements for different
geometries and input power of the laser beam show the influence of different nonlinear effects as stimulated scatterings on
the soliton propagation and in particular on the beam polarization. The stimulated scattering can be used advantageously to

Pulse propagation equation of 2-D nonlinear dispersion plasma waveguides is strictly educed from the wave equation. The nonlinear coefficient is defined, simplified and used to assess and compare the nonlinear characteristic of three popular 2-D plasma waveguides: the metal stripe, the V-groove on a metal surface and the triangular metal wedge. SPM (Self-Phase Modulation) of three 2-D plasma waveguides is predicted and discussed. The results indicate that the propagation distance is enough to observe SPM phenomenon in 2-D plasma waveguides. Both V-groove and Ag stripe are suitable for constructing nonlinear optical devices. 相似文献

In this paper, using an exponential function of intensity of radiation field, two new classes of nonlinear coherent states will be constructed. For the first class, we choose the nonlinearity function as fβ(n) = exp(βn), where β characterizes the strength of the nonlinearity of the quantum system. We show that, the corresponding β-states possess a collection of non-classicality features, only for the particular values of β and z. But, interestingly there exists finite (threshold) values of β, for which all of the non-classicality signs will disappear, in appropriate regions around the origin of the complex plane (z < |Z|). It is then illustrated that, using this threshold (or greater) value of β, the corresponding β-states behave very similar to canonical coherent states, as the most classical quantum states, in approximately whole of the space. In the continuation, we motivate to find another class of nonlinear coherent states, limited to a unit disk centered at the origin, looking like the canonical coherent states in behavior, in exactly the whole range of |z| < 1. This purpose also will be achieved by considering the nonlinearity function as , where λ is a tunable nonlinearity parameter. The canonical coherent state's aspects of the corresponding λ-states will be refreshed, in particular cases, working with a threshold (or greater) value of λ. 相似文献

Here we have analytically investigated the interactions among coherent and vacuum squeezed states of light, interaction among coherent vacuum and squeezed states of light, and that between phase and amplitude squeezed states of light signals. We analyze nonlinear guided waves in a planar waveguide made of a left-handed material surrounded by a Kerr-like nonlinear dielectric, and predict that such a waveguide can support fast and slow symmetric and antisymmetric nonlinear modes. We study the symmetry breaking bifurcation and asymmetric modes in such a symmetric structure. The analysis of nonlinear dispersion properties of the guided waves shows that the modes can be either forward or backward. 相似文献

we present here a simple numerical method to obtain the mode effective indices as well as field distributions of modes of
any arbitrary profile planar optical waveguide. The method is based on the solutions of scalar and semivectorial Helmoltz’s
equation by finite difference algorithm and devised with a field convergence technique. This approach is quite general and
can be applied straightforwardly to calculate the guided as well as quasi- or leaky modes of any arbitrary planar structure
without the need to solve any eigenvalue equation or any complex matrix formalism. Besides providing the ease of application,
the algorithm is particularly useful for waveguides with any graded index profile or with irregular multilayered structure
and multilayered waveguides with a localised arbitrary nonlinear film. The performance of our method is verified against typical
problems with analytical solutions or having results known otherwise, and is shown to yield results with good accuracy. 相似文献

We present a theoretical analysis of the k-boson nonlinear coherent states of a two-level trapped ion interacting with two laser fields. Such states are both the zero-energy state of the interaction Hamiltonian and the eigenstates of a deformed annihilation operator. For the single-boson case, we show that the structure of the states and their coherence and minimum-uncertainty properties can be compromised whenever the Lamb-Dicke parameter is one of the roots of certain Laguerre polynomials. We investigate these problems, which are strictly related to the non-analyticity of the deformation function in the annihilation operator. 相似文献

For an harmonic oscillator with a field intensity related external source we establish the nonlinear number-phase squeezed state, in this state we find that while the number fluctuation increases, the phase fluctuation decreases correspondingly. The number-phase uncertainty relationship is exactly derived. In contrast to the usual coherent state which makes up the minimum number-phase uncertainty relationship, the nonlinear number-phase squeezed state does not reach its minimum uncertainty. 相似文献

We propose an all-optical switch (AOS) based on Mach-Zehnder (MZ) and Multi-mode interference (MMI) using nonlinear closely coupled waveguides. The device operates by switching between two states of coupled waveguides. In first state the refractive index of waveguides are same and light field will completely couple to nonlinear waveguide in half length of coupler and will back in the second half. We will have π phase difference in this procedure and the input field will appear in Bar-state output. In the second state the refractive index of nonlinear waveguide increase with high intensity control field. In this case, we have lower coupling and change in phase. But, we choose the best refractive index change to obtain the phase change of multiple of 2π necessary for Cross-state in output. All-optical logic gates with nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of three-coupled identical waveguides have been proposed and designed theoretically in a unique semiconductor-based symmetric structure. The model uses the NLO interactions of the coupled waveguides, like Kerr effect and Two Photon Absorption (TPA). Unlike the previous studies, we take into account higher order NLO effects of semiconductors such as Free Carriers (FC) and loss to control the switching operation. These NLO phenomena lead to high functionality in a simple unique structure. Therefore, in this work, by setting the input intensity of the waveguides, the logic AND, OR, NAND, and NOR gates are designed in a unique structure with different lengths. Our analysis deals with continuous waves (CW) region and the results are valid for the ranges of short optical pulses with time duration longer than FC life time. 相似文献

The present paper deals with the theoretical modeling of a nonlinear asymmetrical metal-clad planar waveguide for sensor application to achieve high sensitivity. We take the appropriate field distributions for the proposed structure and impose the boundary conditions to derive the mode equation and other necessary formulae for the proposed sensor. The effect of nonlinearity on the sensitivity of the waveguide is studied. Also, we have compared our computed results with the results given for a similar sensor having five layers structure. It is observed that the sensitivity of the sensor is improved by introducing a nonlinear material in the cover medium. 相似文献

We show that light evolution occurring in waveguide arrays with a particular n-functional square root dependence of coupling coefficients can be used to produce classical analogues of nonlinear quantum coherent states. Using operator algebras we obtain closed-form expressions describing the optical field dynamics in such structures. In addition, by numerically monitoring the Mandel's parameter, we obtain the conditions necessary to generate sub-Poissonian and super-Poissonian classical intensity distributions in the proposed photonic lattices. 相似文献

We investigate the influence of nonlinear Kerr-like medium and dipole-dipole interaction on the dynamics of quantum discord in Tavis-Cummings model with phase decoherence. We show that in the resonance case (i) atom-field quantum discord rapidly decays with phase decoherence and doesn't exist the stationary state quantum discord, but the stationary state quantum discord appears if we choose the suitable values of Kerr coefficient χ and dipole-dipole interaction Ω, (ii) the quantum discord of two atoms survives in the stationary state and the amount of stationary state quantum discord could be improved by adjusting the values of χ and Ω. In the non-resonance case, the arbitrary bipartite quantum discord of the system could not be completely destroyed by the phase decoherence and can be improved by applying nonlinear Kerr-like medium and dipole-dipole interaction. 相似文献

Pulse propagation of photon-added coherent states in waveguides with side-coupled nonlinear cavities
We present a theoretical analysis of pulse propagation in a waveguide with a side-coupled Kerr nonlinear cavity. As a specific application, we demonstrate how the nonlinearity has a profound influence on transport properties of a photon-added coherent state. We find that the fields provided by the coherent states facilitate a tunable nonlinearity on the few-photon level, allowing for a robust gating of single photons. 相似文献
