This paper presents an analytical solution for the interaction of electric potentials, electric displacement, elastic deformations, and describes hygrothermal effect responses in hollow and solid cylinders, subjected to mechanical load and electric potential. Exact solutions for displacement, stresses and electric potentials in functionally graded piezoelectric material are determined using the infinitesimal theory. The material properties coefficients of the present cylinder are assumed to be graded in the radial direction by a power law distribution. Numerical examples display the significant of influence of material inhomogeneity. It is interesting to note that selecting a specific value of inhomogeneity parameter can optimize the piezoelectric hollow and solid cylinders responses, which will be of particular importance in modern engineering designs.  相似文献

Topological insulator is a new state of quantum matter. When applied magnetic field is applied on a topological insulator, not only the magnetic field is induced, but also the electric field is induced, vice versa. We designed bi-layer magnetic cloak with topological insulator and high permeability material (HPM), derived the electric field and magnetic field inside and outside the bi-layer topological insulator and HPM. Calculation and simulation results show that the applied magnetic field is cloaked by the bi-layer topological insulator and HPM, and the uniform electric field is induced in the cloaked region.  相似文献

We theoretically examine the electric field enhancement in the narrow gap between two parallel cylinders due to the plasmonic resonance. The resonance condition and the field enhancement factor are found explicitly. It is shown that the resonance occurs at frequencies lower than the plasma frequency. This effect results from the special geometry: the gap width between parallel cylinders is much smaller than their radii. It is also shown that the enhancement coefficient is much larger than the one for a single cylinder and is determined together with the resonance frequency by the system geometry.  相似文献

Exact results are given for the forces per unit length acting on each of a pair of parallel conducting cylinders when polarized by an external electric field perpendicular to the cylinders. Simple analytic results are obtained at small and large separations of the cylinders. The torque on the cylinders (which acts to align them with the electric field) is proportional to the difference between the longitudinal and transverse polarizabilities. The forces acting on the cylinders (which are equal and opposite) are given by the derivatives of the polarizabilities with respect to their separation.  相似文献

A dynamic solution is presented for the propagation of harmonic waves in imhomogeneous (functionally graded) magneto-electro-elastic hollow cylinders composed of piezoelectric BaTiO3 and magnetostrictive CoFe2O4. The materials properties are assumed to vary in the direction of the thickness according to a known variation law. The Legendre orthogonal polynomial series expansion approach is employed to determine the wave propagating characteristics in the hollow cylinders. The dispersion curves of the imhomogeneous piezoelectric-piezomagnetic hollow cylinder and the corresponding non-piezoelectric and non-piezomagnetic hollow cylinders are calculated to show the influence of the piezoelectricity and piezomagnetism. Electric potential and magnetic potential distributions are obtained to illustrate the different influences of the piezoelectricity and piezomagnetism and the different influences of the piezoelectric effect and piezomagnetic effect on longitudinal modes and torsional modes. For the radial polarizing piezoelectric-piezomagnetic hollow cylinder, the piezoelectric effect and piezomagnetic effect take mostly on the longitudinal mode. Finally, a hollow cylinder at different ratio of radius to thickness is calculated to show the influence of the ratio on the piezoelectric effect and piezomagnetic effect.  相似文献

开发了氮空心阴极放电PIC/MC二维自洽模型。研究了N2传统空心阴极向微空心阴极放电转变过程中电势和电场的变化。结果表明,不同尺寸的空心阴极放电的电势及电场分布规律几乎类似,但空心阴极孔径减小且气压增加时,电场近似线性增加;典型微空心阴极电场比传统空心阴极放电电场约大3个量级;微空心阴极放电产生的电子,氮分子离子和氮原子离子的密度比传统空心阴极放电约大3个量级,且微空心阴极放电中,N2+密度比N+密度大8倍以上。  相似文献

Here, we present for the first time the rigorous boundary problem solution of the Maxwell’s equations for the determination of scattering characteristics of a structure. The structure consists of a finite set of infinite parallel circular cylinders that can be made of different lossy isotropic materials. We numerically analyzed two structures that differ only in the symmetrical arrangement of semiconductor cylinders in relation to a central metamaterial cylinder. The electrical radii of cylinders can be arbitrary. Both polarizations of the incident microwave are considered in this work. The Poynting vector of the plane microwave that reflected from and transmitted through the structures analyzed here. We investigated dependency on the radius of an arc where are placed the semiconductor cylinders, the semiconductor-specific resistivity, the operating frequency at two radii of the metamaterial cylinder. We discovered that the structure can have features of a band gap photonic crystal dependent on the topology and the polarization of the incident microwave. We have found that the structure can operate as a microwave reflector at the certain radius of the arc on which are located thirteen n-Si cylinders. The Poynting vector is very sensitive to the change of semiconductor-specific resistivity when the incident microwave has the parallel polarization.  相似文献

The electric field of two dielectric straight circular cylinders containing line charges on their axes is investigated. The cylindrical bodies in question are parallel and touch each other from the exterior. They have different dielectric permittivities, charges, and radii. Also, they are surrounded by an arbitrary dielectric medium. An analytic solution to the respective boundary-value problem is given, and the most important particular cases are analyzed. Special features of the electric field in the region around the contact of the dielectric cylinders are studied versus the permittivity of the material used and the relationship between electric charges.  相似文献

Radiation absorption in an infinitely long hollow cylinder with Fresnel surfaces is studied using the ray tracing method. It is found that the inner boundary can be modeled as a total reflective surface for the infinitely long hollow cylinder. Radiative absorption of hollow cylinders with Fresnel surfaces is compared to diffusive surfaces predicted by the finite volume method. Effects of refractive index, optical thickness and hole size on radiative absorption are studied. Abrupt changes in radiative absorption near τr/τRo=1/n are observed for hollow cylinders with Fresnel surfaces. It is because the Fresnel relation predicts a critical angle at . This trend is not observed in diffusive surfaces. Refractive index and optical thickness are two competing factors that govern the radiative absorption. Higher refractive index drives higher absorption close to the inner surface, while higher optical thickness yields higher absorption near the outer surface. The results of this study can also serve as benchmark solutions for modeling radiative heat transfer in hollow cylinders with Fresnel surfaces. It is also found that the directional or hemispherical emittance can be calculated without solving the radiative transfer equation in the media when the temperature variation in the media is small.  相似文献

We have theoretically investigated the electronic properties and nonlinear optical rectification spectra of GaAs/AlGaAs anisotropic quantum ring, modelled by an outer ellipsis and an inner circle, in connection to the presence of a donor off-centre impurity, structural distortions and in-plane electric field. The one-electron energy spectrum and wave functions are found using the adiabatic approximation and the finite element method within the effective-mass model. The energy spectrum of concentric ring reveals an anomalous oscillatory behaviour in the region of relatively small values of the electric field (< 12?kV/cm) followed by linear Stark effect at higher field values. We showed that this unusual behaviour is strongly affected by the ratio of the outer/inner ring radii, the displacement of the inner circle (eccentricity) along the x or y axis and the impurity presence. The related nonlinear optical rectification spectra present maxima whose positions mirror this oscillatory behaviour and consequently can be used as an excellent tool to distinguish the presence of an impurity or the direction of the eccentricity.  相似文献

The role of the negative glow in producing charge carriers and the effect of this region on the elementary processes occurring in the region of cathode potential drop between plane parallel electrodes is considered in this paper.An estimate of the value of positive ion current passing to the cathode from the negative glow is made for nickel, copper, iron, and aluminum cathodes in hydrogen, and for an iron cathode in argon neon, and helium at 1 mm Hg pressure.Based on the values obtained for the ion current in the Crookes dark space, the electric field intensity and potential distributions are calculated and found to be in satisfactory agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

We studied the linear and nonlinear optical properties of halloysite nanotubes using Z-scan technique. Halloysite is alumina silicate clay rolled into 50 nm diameter hollow cylinders, where the silica layer is at the outer surface of the tube and alumina layer is in the inner surface. Optical absorption spectra show an absorption peak around 600 nm. Open aperture Z-scan measurements using 3 ns laser pulses at 532 nm reveal two-photon induced absorption. The closed aperture Z-scan indicates a positive nonlinear refractive index. As these nanotubes are nontoxic and biocompatible, they have advantages over conventional carbon nanotubes for biomedical applications.  相似文献

A finite element for axisymmetric elasticity is formulated directly in cylindrical coordinates. The element is used to study the vibration of hollow, isotropic finite length cylinders. The ratio of the inside radius to the outside radius is assumed as 0.2, 0.5 and 0.9 for a given cylinder length. Frequencies are computed for free-free end boundary conditions that can be compared with the existing literature. Additionally, fixed-fixed boundary conditions are studied. Five different configurations for simple supported boundary conditions are analyzed and compared. Numerical results are given in tabular form and some fundamental mode shapes are compared graphically.  相似文献

The theory of a quantum well in an applied electric field is discussed with emphasis on the model one adopts to describe the effect of the field outside the well. This depends on just one parameter which measures the asymptotic boundary condition one imposes outside the well in the domain where the electrostatic potential sinks. The discussion is carried in parallel in terms of wavefunctions and Green functions. It is found that extreme changes in the boundary conditions do not affect significantly the eigenvalues of the well states up to the highest electric fields attained in practice.  相似文献

Wave propagation in multilayered piezoelectric structures has received much attention in past forty years. But the research objects of previous research works are only for semi-infinite structures and one-dimensional structures, i.e., structures with a finite dimension in only one direction, such as horizontally infinite flat plates and axially infinite hollow cylinders. This paper proposes an extension of the orthogonal polynomial series approach to solve the wave propagation problem in a two-dimensional (2-D) piezoelectric structure, namely, a multilayered piezoelectric bar with a rectangular cross-section. Through numerical comparison with the available reference results for a purely elastic multilayered rectangular bar, the validity of the extended polynomial series approach is illustrated. The dispersion curves and electric potential distributions of various multilayered piezoelectric rectangular bars are calculated to reveal their wave propagation characteristics.  相似文献

We give expressions for the electric potential and field around two conducting cylinders in contact, in closed form and in terms of elementary functions. The polarizability tensor, and hence the torque acting on the cylinder pair, follow from these results. The surface charge density, and the total charge per unit length on each cylinder, can also be evaluated in closed form. The formation of novel structures by the passage of an electric current through graphite is described. These structures apparently consist of hollow three-dimensional graphitic shells bounded by curved and faceted planes, typically made up of two graphene layers. The curved structures were frequently decorated with nano-scale carbon particles, or short nanotubes. In some cases, nanotubes were found to be seamlessly connected to the thin shells, indicating that the formation of the shells and the nanotubes is intimately connected. Small nanotubes or nanoparticles were also sometimes found encapsulated inside the hollow structures, while fullerene-like particles were often seen attached to the outside surfaces. With their high surface areas and structural perfection, the new carbon structures may have applications as anodes of lithium ion batteries or as components of composite materials.  相似文献
