Experimental and theoretical studies on the oxidation of saturated hydrocarbons (n‐hexane, cyclohexane, n‐heptane, n‐octane and isooctane) and ethanol in 28 Torr O2 or air plasma generated by a hollow cathode discharge ion source were made. Ions corresponding to [M + 15]+ and [M + 13]+ in addition to [M ? H]+ and [M ? 3H]+ were detected as major ions where M is the sample molecule. The ions [M + 15]+ and [M + 13]+ were assigned as oxidation products, [M ? H + O]+ and [M ? 3H + O]+, respectively. By the tandem mass spectrometry analysis of [M ? H + O]+ and [M ? 3H + O]+, H2O, olefins (and/or cycloalkanes) and oxygen‐containing compounds were eliminated from these ions. Ozone as one of the terminal products in the O2 plasma was postulated as the oxidizing reagent. As an example, the reactions of C6H14+? with O2 and of C6H13+ (CH3CH2CH+CH2CH2CH3) with ozone were examined by density functional theory calculations. Nucleophilic interaction of ozone with C6H13+ leads to the formation of protonated ketone, CH3CH2C(=OH+)CH2CH2CH3. In air plasma, [M ? H + O]+ became predominant over carbocations, [M ? H]+ and [M ? 3H]+. For ethanol, the protonated acetic acid CH3C(OH)2+ (m/z 61.03) was formed as the oxidation product. The peaks at m/z 75.04 and 75.08 are assigned as protonated ethyl formate and protonated diethyl ether, respectively, and that at m/z 89.06 as protonated ethyl acetate. Reactions that proceed within mixed ethylene–methanol cluster ions were studied using an electron impact time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The ion abundance ratio, [(C2H4)n(CH3OH)mH+]/[(C2H4)n(CH3OH)m+], shows a propensity to increase as the ethylene/methanol mixing ratio increases, indicating that the proton is preferentially bound to a methanol molecule in the heterocluster ions. The results from isotope-labelling experiments indicate that the effective formation of a protonated heterocluster is responsible for ethylene molecules in the clusters. The observed (C2H4)n(CH3OH)m+ and (C2H4)n(CH3OH)m–1CH3O+ ions are interpreted as a consequence of the ion–neutral complex and intracluster ion–molecule reaction, respectively. Experimental evidence for the stable configurations of heterocluster species is found from the distinct abundance distributions of these ions and also from the observation of fragment peaks in the mass spectra. Investigations on the relative cluster ion distribution under various conditions suggest that (C2H4)n(CH3OH)mH+ ions with n + m ≤ 3 have particularly stable structures. The result is understood on the basis of ion–molecule condensation reactions, leading to the formation of fragment ions, $ {\rm CH}_2=\!=\mathop {\rm O}\limits^ + {\rm CH}_3 $ and (CH3OH)H3O+, and the effective stabilization by a polar molecule. The reaction energies of proposed mechanisms are presented for (C2H4)n(CH3OH)mH+(n + m ≤ 3) using semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations.  相似文献

The electron ionization fragmentation patterns of 5-methyl-3-(o-, m- and p-tolyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazoles (1a—c) have been examined by metastable ion and high resolution mass spectrometry. The o-tolyl isomer loses CO and C2H2O from the metastable molecular ion whereas the m- and p-tolyl isomers lose only CH3CN thus indicating a strong ortho effect in directing the fragmentation in 1a. Slight differences between o-, m- and p-tolyl isomers in the collisional activation fragmentation of stable [C7H6N]+ ions suggest that structural differences exist even after a series of extensive rearrangements of the molecular ions. Metastable ion kinetic energy (MIKE) and collisional activation (CA) spectra were very helpful in providing valuable information about many fragments.  相似文献

For compounds C6H5X (X?Cl, Br, I) under chemical ionization conditions, methylamine causes ipso substitution of X by [NH2CH3]+ and by [NH2]+˙. C6H5F is less reactive; it gives some [C6H5NH2]+˙. Nitrobenzene gives an adduct ion [M+CH3NH3]+, a reduction product ion [C6H5NO2]+˙, and an ion at m/z93, probably a substitution product [C6H5NH2]+˙, but no [C6H5NH2CH3]+. It is also shown that the ion m/z94, formed from nitrobenzene with ammonia as reagent gas, is a substitution product rather than a reduction product ion. Carbonyl compounds C6H5. CO. X give adduct ions and some substitution, mainly [C6H5NH2]+˙.  相似文献

Loss of an alkyl group X? from acetylenic alcohols HC?C? CX(OH)(CH3) and gas phase protonation of HC?C? CO? Collisional activation mass spectra confirm that tolyl ions can be produced from a variety of CH3C6H4Y compounds. High purity o-, m- and p-tolyl ions are prepared by chemical ionization of the corresponding fluorides (Y=F) as proposed by Harrison. In electron ionization of CH3C6H4Y formation of the more stable tropylium and benzyl ionic isomers usually accompanies that of the o-, m- and p-tolyl ions. Isomerization of low energy [CH3C6H4Y]+? to [Y–methylenecyclohexadiene]+? is proposed to account for most [benzyl]+ formation, while the tropylium ion appears to arise from the isomerization of tolyl ions formed with higher internal energies, [o-, m-, p-tolyl]+→ [benzyl]+→ [tropylium]+, consistent with Dewar's predictions from MINDO/3 calculations.  相似文献

[C8H6O]+˙ ions with o-quinonoid ketene, benzocyclobutenone, phenyl ketene and benzofuran structures have been generated from various precursors. Their collisionally induced decompositions in both field free regions of a double focusing mass spectrometer with so-called reversed geometry have been studied using mass analysed ion kinetic energy scans and B/E linked scans. In both cases the abovementioned [C8H6O]+˙ structures can be distinguished–except the benzocyclobutenone ion which gives very similar spectra to the o-quinonoid ion–on the basis of the intensity ratios [m/z 77]/[m/z 76] and [m/z 104]/[m/z 102]. The stable [C8H6O]+˙ ions generated from the molecular ions of 7 -phenylbicyclo[3.1.1]heptan-6-one appear to have the phenyl ketene structure, as was suspected from previous kinetic energy release measurements.  相似文献

Upon collision‐induced activation, gaseous sodium adducts generated by electrospray ionization of disodium salts of 1,2‐ 1,3‐, and 1,4‐benzene dicarboxylic acids (m/z 233) undergo an unprecedented expulsion of CO2 by a rearrangement process to produce an ion of m/z 189 in which all three sodium atoms are retained. When isolated in a collision cell of a tandem‐in‐space mass spectrometer, and subjected to collision‐induced dissociation (CID), only the m/z 189 ions derived from the meta and para isomers underwent a further CO2 loss to produce a peak at m/z 145 for a sodiated arene of formula (Na3C6H4)+. This previously unreported m/z 145 ion, which is useful to differentiate meta and para benzene dicarboxylates from their ortho isomer, is in fact the sodium adduct of phenelenedisodium. Moreover, the m/z 189 ion from all three isomers readily expelled a sodium radical to produce a peak at m/z 166 for a radical cation [(?C6H4CO2Na2)+], which then eliminated CO2 to produce a peak at m/z 122 for the distonic cation (?C6H4Na2)+. Compounds C6H5X(X ? F, Cl, Br, NO2, CN, OCH3) have been studied under chemical ionization conditions with ammonia as reagent gas. A pulsed electron beam and time resolved ion collection has allowed the determination of the reaction leading to the formation of [C6H5NH3]+ (m/z 94). [NH4]+ reacts with C6H5X(X ? F, Cl, Br) to yield m/z 94 but C6H5X (X ? CN, NO2) forms this ion only by reactions involving either [NH3]+ or [C6H5X]+. C6H5OCH3 does not form m/z 94.  相似文献

The mass spectra of diethyl phenyl phosphates show substituent effects with electron-donating groups favouring the molecular ion M+˙, and the [M? C2H4]+˙, [M – 2C2H4]+˙ and [XPhOH]+˙ ions. The [PO3C2H6]+ (m/z 109) and [PO3H2]+ (m/z 81) ions are favoured by electron-withdrawing groups. Results suggest that the formation of the [XPhC2H3]+˙ ion involves rearrangement of C2H3 to the position ortho to the phosphate group. Ortho effects are also observed.  相似文献

MINDO/3 calculations for singlet and triplet doubly charged benzene [C6H6]2+ are in satisfactory agreement with the experimentally determined values of the vertical double ionization energy of benzene; calculations for straight chain isomeric structures are consistent with the observed kinetic energy release on fragmentation to [C5H3]+ and [CH3]+. Symmetrical doubly charged benzene ions relax to a less symmetrical cyclic structure having sufficient internal energy to fragment by ring opening and hydrogen transfer towards the ends of the carbon chain. Fragmentation of [CH3C4CH3]2+ to [CH3C4]+ and [CH3]+ is a relatively high energy process (A), whereas both (B): [CH3CHC3CH2]2+ to [CHC3CH2]+ and [CH3]+ and (C): [CH3CHCCHCCH]2+ to [CHCCHCCH]+ and [CH3]+ may be exothermic processes from doubly charged benzene. Furthermore, the calculated energy for the reverse of process (A) is less than the experimentally observed kinetic energy released, whereas larger energies for the reverse of processes B and C are predicted. Heats of formation of homologous series [HCn]+, [CH3Cn]+, [CH2Cn?2CH]+, [CH3Cn?2CH2]+ and [CH2?CHCn?3CH2]+ with 1 < n < 6 are calculated to aid prediction of the most stable products of fragmentation of doubly charged cations. The homologous series [CH2Cn?2CH]+ is relatively stable and may account for ready fragmentation of doubly charged ions to [CnH3]+; alternatively the symmetrical [C5H3]+ ion [CHCCHCCH]+ may be formed. Dicoordinate carbon chains appear to be important stabilizing features for both cations and dications.  相似文献

The temperature effect on the single and double hydrogen atom transfer reactions in o-, m- and p-toluic acid n-butyl esters and isobutyl esters has been investigated. For the meta and para isomers, the abundance of the m/z 137 ion [C8H9O2]+ generated by a double hydrogen atom transfer reaction increases relative to the m/z 136 ion [C8H8O2]+˙ generated by a single hydrogen atom transfer reaction upon lowering the temperature of the ionization chamber. On the other hand, the ratio of the peak abundances [137]+/[136]+ for the ortho isomers is nearly constant when the temperature is changed. It is shown that this is due to the difference between the appearance energies of the m/z 136 and m/z 137 ions.  相似文献

[C2H3O]+ ions with the initial structures [CH3CO]+, and [CH2CHO]+ cannot be distinguished on the basis of their collisional activation spectra, demonstrating that these isomers interconvert at energies below their threshold for decomposition. Self-protonation of ketene leads to the [CH3CO]+ ion, while the [C2H3O]+ ion generated from glycerol most probably has the structure of an oxygen protonated ketene [CH2?C?OH]+.  相似文献

In contrast to an earlier report,1 the collisonally induced dissociation of protonated 2-propanol and t-butyl alcohol yields spectra that are indistinguishable from those of the corresponding [C3H7/H2O]+ and [C4H9/H2O]+ ions generated by the (formal) gas phase addition reactions in a high pressure ion source of [s-C3H7]+ and [t-C4H9]+ ions with the n-donor H2O. Similarly, [s-C3H7/CH3OH]+ ions generated by both gas phase protonation of n- and s-propyl methyl ethers and addition reactions of [C3H7]+ to CH3OH display mode-of-generation-independent collisionally induced dissociation characteristics. However, analysis of the unimolecular dissociation (loss of propene) of the [C3H7/CH3OH]+ system, including a number of its deuterium, 13C- and 18O-labelled isotopomers, supports the idea that prior to unimolecular dissociation, covalently bound [C3H7- O(H)CH3]+ ions intercovert with hydrogen-bridged adduct ions, analogous to the behaviour of the distonic ethene-, propene- and ketene-H2O radical cations.  相似文献

IR photodissociation spectra of mass‐selected clusters composed of protonated benzene (C6H7+) and several ligands L are analyzed in the range of the C? H stretch fundamentals. The investigated systems include C6H7+? Ar, C6H7+? (N2)n (n=1–4), C6H7+? (CH4)n (n=1–4), and C6H7+? H2O. The complexes are produced in a supersonic plasma expansion using chemical ionization. The IR spectra display absorptions near 2800 and 3100 cm?1, which are attributed to the aliphatic and aromatic C? H stretch vibrations, respectively, of the benzenium ion, that is, the σ complex of C6H7+. The C6H7+? (CH4)n clusters show additional C? H stretch bands of the CH4 ligands. Both the frequencies and the relative intensities of the C6H7+ absorptions are nearly independent of the choice and number of ligands, suggesting that the benzenium ion in the detected C6H7+? Ln clusters is only weakly perturbed by the microsolvation process. Analysis of photofragmentation branching ratios yield estimated ligand binding energies of the order of 800 and 950 cm?1 (≈9.5 and 11.5 kJ mol?1) for N2 and CH4, respectively. The interpretation of the experimental data is supported by ab initio calculations for C6H7+? Ar and C6H7+? N2 at the MP 2/6‐311 G(2df,2pd) level. Both the calculations and the spectra are consistent with weak intermolecular π bonds of Ar and N2 to the C6H7+ ring. The astrophysical implications of the deduced IR spectrum of C6H7+ are briefly discussed.  相似文献

4-Methoxymethylbenzaldimmonium ions (a) and the corresponding N-methylated ions (b) and N,N-dimethylated ions (c) were easily generated in the ion source by electron impact-induced dissociation from 1-(4-methoxymethylphenyl)ethylamine and its N-methylated derivatives. The spontaneous fragmentations of metastable ions a-c and of specifically deuterated derivatives in the second field-free region of a VG ZAB-2F mass spectrometer were studied by mass-analysed ion kinetic energy Spectrometry. The formation of an amino-p-quinodimethane radical cation by loss of the methoxy group is observed for all ions. In the case of a and b carrying at least one proton at the immonium group, competing fragmentations are the loss of CH2O and CH3OH, respectively, and the formation of ions CH3OCH2 +, m/z 45, and C7H7 +, m/z 91. Deuterium-labelling experiments indicated the migration of a proton from the protonated imino group of a and b to the aromatic ring followed by the loss of methanol from the methoxymethyl side-chain or protolysis of the bond to either side-chain to form ion-neutral complexes, in close analogy with the reactions of the corresponding protonated benzaldehydes. The intermediate ion-neutral complexes dissociate eventually by internal ion-neutral reactions resulting in the loss of CH2 O and the formation of C7H7 +, respectively.  相似文献

The [C6H9]+ ions produced either via unimolecular H2O loss from 13 [C6H11O]+ precursors or direct protonation of 1,3- and 1,4-cyclohexadiene have identical collisional activation mass spectra. The kinetic energy release data for the process [C6H11O]+→[C6H9]++H2O are also very similar (on average T0.5=24 meV) irrespective of the constitution of the precursor. From the proton affinities of 1,3-cyclohexadiene (PA=837.2 kJ mol?1) using ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry the heat of formation of the [C6H9]+ ion is determined to 804.6 kJ mol?1. This value taken together with the results of molecular orbital calculations (MNDO) and the structure indicative losses of CH3. and C2H4 upon collisional activation suggest that the [C6H9]+ ion has the structure of the 1-methylcyclopentenylium ion f and not that of the slightly less stable cyclohexenylium ion g. The generator of an easily interconverting system of isomeric [C6H9]+ ions is unlikely to be due to the high barrier separating the various isomers.  相似文献

Dissociative ionization of 1,2-epoxy n-alkanes gives rise to abundant [C4H7O]+ ions of structure [CH3OCHCHCH2]+. This conclusion is drawn from metastable ion analysis and from collisional activation spectra. This fragmentation involves the C? C ring opening and a 1,4-H migration leading to the corresponding enol ether [CH3OCHCHCH2R]+. precursor of [CH3OCHCHCH2]+ fragment. The same isomerization scheme applies to 1,2-epoxy methyl substituted alkanes and 2,3-epoxy n-alkanes.  相似文献

The gas phase heats of formation of several organosulfur cations were determined from thiirane, thietane and tetrahydrothiophene precursor molecules by photoionization mass spectrometry. Heats of formation at 0 K and 298 K are reported for the following ions: [H2CS], [H3CS]+, [C2H3S]+, [C2H4S], [C3H5S]+, [C3H6S], [C4H7S]+ and [C4H8S]. The [C4H7S]+ (m/z 87), [C2H4S] (m/z 60), [C2H3S]+ (m/z 59), [C4H7]+ (m/z 55), [C4H6] (m/z 54) and [CH2S] (m/z 46) ions are produced from metastable tetrahydrothiophene ions at photon energies between 10.2 and 10.7 eV. Decay rates of internal energy selected parent ions to the m/z 60, 59, 55 and 54 fragments were measured by threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence, the results of which are compared to statistical theory (RRKM/QET) calculations. The [C2H4S] ion from tetrahydrothiophene is found to have the thioacetaldehyde structure. From the measured [C2H4S] onset a ΔH = 50±8 kJ mol?1 was calculated for the thioacetaldehyde molecule.  相似文献

The 70 eV mass spectrum of phenyl ω-dimethoxyethyl telluride [C6H5? Te? CH2CH(OR)2, R?CH3]contains an intense peak at m/z 238 which corresponds to a rearrangement ion [C6H5? Te? OR]+. The formation of this species is further illustrated by the presence of a peak at m/z 241 in the spectrum of the hexadeuterated analog (R?CD3) and a peak at m/z 252 in the spectrum of the ethyl analog (R?CH2CH3). These combined results illustrate the presence of only one of the alkoxyl groups in the rearrangement ion. Several other abundant ions that contain oxygen but not tellurium are present in the spectra of these compounds. High resolution analyses have aided in the determination of the origin and composition of several of the characteristic ions formed upon electron impact fragmentation of phenyl ω-dimethoxyethyl telluride.  相似文献
