The solution set of a Dirichlet problem x″ = f(t, x), x(0) = x(1) = 0, on a Banach space E and with f satisfying a Lipschitz condition, is homeomorphic to a closed subset of E. We prove that to an closed subset C of E there is a function f with Lipschitz constant arbitrarily close to π2, such that the solution set of the corresponding Dirichlet problem is homeomorphic to C.  相似文献

Previous examples of non-type (D) maximal monotone operators were restricted to $\ell ^1$ , $L^1$ , and Banach spaces containing isometric copies of these spaces. Let CN be the cuspidal subgroup of the Jacobian J0(N) for a square-free integer N > 6. For any Eisenstein maximal ideal m of the Hecke ring of level N, we show that CN[m] ≠ 0. To prove this, we calculate the index of an Eisenstein ideal I contained in m by computing the order of the cuspidal divisor annihilated by I.  相似文献

P. Turán and his associates[2] considered in detail the problem of (0,2) interpolation based on the zeros of πn(x). Motivated by these results and an earlier result of Szabados and Varma[9] here we consider the problem of existence, uniqueness and explicit representation of the interpolatory polynomial Rn(x) satis fying the function values at one set of nodes and the second derivative on the other set of nodes. It is important to note that this problem has a unique solution provided these two sets of nodes are chosen properly. We also promise to have an interesting convergence theorem in the second paper of this series, which will provide a solution to the related open problem of P. Turán.  相似文献

Let D be an F-central division algebra of index n. Here we present a criterion for the triviality of the group G(D) = D*/Nrd D/F (D*)D′ and thus generalizing various related results published recently. To be more precise, it is shown that G(D) = 1 if and only if SK 1(D) = 1 and F *2 = F *2n . Using this, we investigate the role of some particular subgroups of D* in the algebraic structure of D. In this direction, it is proved that a division algebra D of prime index is a symbol algebra if and only if D* contains a non-abelian nilpotent subgroup. More applications of this criterion including the computation of G(D) and the structure of maximal subgroups of D* are also investigated  相似文献

Let Dn be the dihedral group of order 2n. Denote by E(Dn) (resp. A(Dn), I(Dn)) the distributively generated nearring generated by the set of all endomorphisms (resp. automorphisms, inner automorphisms). In this paper, we determine for each one of the above three nearrings a minimal (additive) generating set. For E(Dn), this set contains the identity mapping and four other endomorphisms; for A(Dn), the identity mapping, one outer automorphism and one inner automorphisms; and for I(Dn), the identity mapping and two inner automorphisms.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the question, for a given integer n which is not a perfect square, how large and how small can be the largest element in a D(n)-quadruple. This result is then applied to determine the component group Φ p r of the Néron model ofJ 0(p r ) overZ p . This extends results of Lorenzini [7].
