A near perfect matching is a matching saturating all but one vertex in a graph. Let G be a connected graph. If any n independent edges in G are contained in a near perfect matching where n is a positive integer and n(|V(G)|-2)/2, then G is said to be defect n-extendable. If deleting any k vertices in G where k|V(G)|-2, the remaining graph has a perfect matching, then G is a k-critical graph. This paper first shows that the connectivity of defect n-extendable graphs can be any integer. Then the characterizations of defect n-extendable graphs and (2k+1)-critical graphs using M-alternating paths are presented.  相似文献

A near perfect matching is a matching saturating all but one vertex in a graph. If G is a connected graph and any n independent edges in G are contained in a near perfect matching, then G is said to be defect n-extendable. If for any edge e in a defect n-extendable graph G, Ge is not defect n-extendable, then G is minimal defect n-extendable. The minimum degree and the connectivity of a graph G are denoted by δ(G) and κ(G) respectively. In this paper, we study the minimum degree of minimal defect n-extendable bipartite graphs. We prove that a minimal defect 1-extendable bipartite graph G has δ(G)=1. Consider a minimal defect n-extendable bipartite graph G with n≥2, we show that if κ(G)=1, then δ(G)≤n+1 and if κ(G)≥2, then 2≤δ(G)=κ(G)≤n+1. In addition, graphs are also constructed showing that, in all cases but one, there exist graphs with minimum degree that satisfies the established bounds.  相似文献

A graph G of order p is k-factor-critical,where p and k are positive integers with the same parity, if the deletion of any set of k vertices results in a graph with a perfect matching. G is called maximal non-k-factor-critical if G is not k-factor-critical but G+e is k-factor-critical for every missing edge eE(G). A connected graph G with a perfect matching on 2n vertices is k-extendable, for 1?k?n-1, if for every matching M of size k in G there is a perfect matching in G containing all edges of M. G is called maximal non-k-extendable if G is not k-extendable but G+e is k-extendable for every missing edge eE(G) . A connected bipartite graph G with a bipartitioning set (X,Y) such that |X|=|Y|=n is maximal non-k-extendable bipartite if G is not k-extendable but G+xy is k-extendable for any edge xyE(G) with xX and yY. A complete characterization of maximal non-k-factor-critical graphs, maximal non-k-extendable graphs and maximal non-k-extendable bipartite graphs is given.  相似文献

A graph G is said to be bicritical if G-u-v has a perfect matching for every choice of a pair of points u and v. Bicritical graphs play a central role in decomposition theory of elementary graphs with respect to perfect matchings. As Plummer pointed out many times, the structure of bicritical graphs is far from completely understood. This paper presents a concise structure characterization on bicritical graphs in terms of factor-critical graphs and transversals of hypergraphs. A connected graph G with at least 2k+2 points is said to be k-extendable if it contains a matching of k lines and every such matching is contained in a perfect matching. A structure characterization for k-extendable bipartite graphs is given in a recursive way. Furthermore, this paper presents an O(mn) algorithm for determining the extendability of a bipartite graph G, the maximum integer k such that G is k-extendable, where n is the number of points and m is the number of lines in G.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and A a nonempty subset (possibly containing the identity element) of G. The Bi-Cayley graph X=BC(G,A) of G with respect to A is defined as the bipartite graph with vertex set G×{0,1} and edge set {{(g,0),(sg,1)}∣gG,sA}. A graph Γ admitting a perfect matching is called n-extendable if ∣V(Γ)∣≥2n+2 and every matching of size n in Γ can be extended to a perfect matching of Γ. In this paper, the extendability of Bi-Cayley graphs of finite abelian groups is explored. In particular, 2-extendable and 3-extendable Bi-Cayley graphs of finite abelian groups are characterized.  相似文献

A toroidal polyhex (resp. Klein-bottle polyhex) described by a string (p,q,t) arises from a p×q-parallelogram of a hexagonal lattice by a usual torus (resp. Klein bottle) boundary identification with a torsion t. A connected graph G admitting a perfect matching is k-extendable if |V(G)|≥2k+2 and any k independent edges can be extended to a perfect matching of G. In this paper, we characterize 2-extendable toroidal polyhexes and 2-extendable Klein-bottle polyhexes.  相似文献

Let G 1G 2 be the strong product of a k-extendable graph G 1 and an l-extendable graph G 2, and X an arbitrary set of vertices of G 1G 2 with cardinality 2[(k+1)(l+1)/2]. We show that G 1G 2X contains a perfect matching. It implies that G 1G 2 is [(k+1)(l+1)/2]-extendable, whereas the Cartesian product of G 1 and G 2 is only (k+l+1)-extendable. As in the case of the Cartesian product, the proof is based on a lemma on the product of a k-extendable graph G and K 2. We prove that GK 2 is (k+1)-extendable, and, a bit surprisingly, it even remains (k+1)-extendable if we add edges to it. Received: February 17, 1997 Final version received: June 14, 2000  相似文献

A connected graph Γ with at least 2n+2 vertices is said to be n-extendable if every matching of size n in Γ can be extended to a perfect matching. The aim of this paper is to study the 1-extendability and 2-extendability of certain semi-Cayley graphs of finite abelian groups, and the classification of connected 2-extendable semi-Cayley graphs of finite abelian groups is given. Thus the 1-extendability and 2-extendability of Cayley graphs of non-abelian groups which can be realized as such semi-Cayley graphs of abelian groups can be deduced. In particular, the 1-extendability and 2-extendability of connected Cayley graphs of generalized dicyclic groups and generalized dihedral groups are characterized.  相似文献

A graph is defined to be randomly matchable if every matching of G can be extended to a perfect matching. It is shown that the connected randomly matchable graphs are precisely K2n and Kn,n (n ≥ 1).  相似文献

A graph G of order at least 2n+2 is said to be n‐extendable if G has a perfect matching and every set of n independent edges extends to a perfect matching in G. We prove that every pair of nonadjacent vertices x and y in a connected n‐extendable graph of order p satisfy degG x+degG yp ? n ? 1, then either G is hamiltonian or G is isomorphic to one of two exceptional graphs. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A graph is said to be k-extendable if any independent set of k edges extends to a perfect matching. We shall show that every 5-connected graph of even order embedded on the projective plane and every 6-connected one embedded on the torus and the Klein bottle is 2-extendable and characterize the forbidden structures for 5-connected toroidal graphs to be 2-extendable.  相似文献

A set H of disjoint faces of a plane bipartite graph G is a resonant pattern if G has a perfect matching M such that the boundary of each face in H is an M-alternating cycle. An elementary result was obtained [Discrete Appl. Math. 105 (2000) 291-311]: a plane bipartite graph is 1-extendable if and only if every face forms a resonant pattern. In this paper we show that for a 2-extendable plane bipartite graph, any pair of disjoint faces form a resonant pattern, and the converse does not necessarily hold. As an application, we show that all boron-nitrogen (B-N) fullerene graphs are 2-resonant, and construct all the 3-resonant B-N fullerene graphs, which are all k-resonant for any positive integer k. Here a B-N fullerene graph is a plane cubic graph with only square and hexagonal faces, and a B-N fullerene graph is k-resonant if any disjoint faces form a resonant pattern. Finally, the cell polynomials of 3-resonant B-N fullerene graphs are computed.  相似文献

Abstract. A simple graph G is induced matching extendable, shortly IM-extendable,if every in-duced matching of G is included in a perfect matching of G. The degree conditions of IM-extend-able graphs are researched in this paper. The main results are as follows:  相似文献

Let G be a graph on p vertices. Then for a positive integer n1 G is said to be n-extendible if (i) n < p/2, (ii) G has a set of n independent edges, and (iii) every such set is contained in a perfect matching of G. In this paper we will show that if p is even and G is n-connected, then Gk is -extendible for every integer k ≥ 2 such that . © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A graph with at least two vertices is matching covered if it is connected and each edge lies in some perfect matching. A matching covered graph G is extremal if the number of perfect matchings of G is equal to the dimension of the lattice spanned by the set of incidence vectors of perfect matchings of G. We first establish several basic properties of extremal matching covered graphs. In particular, we show that every extremal brick may be obtained by splicing graphs whose underlying simple graphs are odd wheels. Then, using the main theorem proved in 2 and 3 , we find all the extremal cubic matching covered graphs. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory 48: 19–50, 2005  相似文献

A graph G is called induced matching extendable (shortly, IM-extendable) if every induced matching of G is included in a perfect matching of G. A graph G is called strongly IM-extendable if every spanning supergraph of G is IM-extendable. The k-th power of a graph G, denoted by Gk, is the graph with vertex set V(G) in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if the distance between them in G is at most k. We obtain the following two results which give positive answers to two conjectures of Yuan. Result 1. If a connected graph G with |V(G)| even is locally connected, then G2 is strongly IM-extendable. Result 2. If G is a 2-connected graph with |V(G)| even, then G3 is strongly IM-extendable. Research Supported by NSFC Fund 10371102.  相似文献

It is shown that every generalized fullerene graph G with 13 pentagons is 2-extendable, a brick, and cyclically 5-edge-connected, i.e., that G cannot be separated into two components, each containing a cycle, by deletion of fewer than five edges. New lower bound on the number of perfect matchings in such graphs are also established.  相似文献

We say that a simple graph G is induced matching extendable, shortly IM-extendable, if every induced matching of G is included in a perfect matching of G. The main results of this paper are as follows: (1) For every connected IM-extendable graph G with |V(G)| ≥ 4, the girth g(G) ≤ 4. (2) If G is a connected IM-extendable graph, then |E(G)| ≥ ${3\over 2}|V(G)| - 2$; the equality holds if and only if GT × K2, where T is a tree. (3) The only 3-regular connected IM-extendable graphs are Cn × K2, for n ≥ 3, and C2n(1, n), for n ≥ 2, where C2n(1, n) is the graph with 2n vertices x0, x1, …, x2n−1, such that xixj is an edge of C2n(1, n) if either |ij| ≡ 1 (mod 2n) or |ij| ≡ n (mod 2n). © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A graph with at least 2k+2 vertices is said to be k-extendable if any independent set of k edges in it extends to a perfect matching. We shall show that every 5-connected graph G of even order embedded on a closed surface F2, except the sphere, is 2-extendable if ρ(G)?7−2χ(F2), where ρ(G) stands for the representativity of G on F2 and χ(F2) for the Euler characteristic of F2.  相似文献

An overlap representation of a graph G assigns sets to vertices so that vertices are adjacent if and only if their assigned sets intersect with neither containing the other. The overlap number φ(G) (introduced by Rosgen) is the minimum size of the union of the sets in such a representation. We prove the following: (1) An optimal overlap representation of a tree can be produced in linear time, and its size is the number of vertices in the largest subtree in which the neighbor of any leaf has degree 2. (2) If δ(G)?2 and GK3, then φ(G)?|E(G)| ? 1, with equality when G is connected and triangle‐free and has no star‐cutset. (3) If G is an n‐vertex plane graph with n?5, then φ(G)?2n ? 5, with equality when every face has length 4 and there is no star‐cutset. (4) If G is an n‐vertex graph with n?14, then φ(G)?n2/4 ? n/2 ? 1, with equality for even n when G arises from Kn/2, n/2 by deleting a perfect matching. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
